I’m back everyone! Thank you so much for hanging on! Regular uploads will be every Tuesday and Thursday! 🤘🤘 let me know what I should react to next! 🤘🤘❤️
Good stuff man, got worried for a bit, thought you’d quit, then I remembered UA-camrs have a life outside of making videos and you were probably just busy😂😂👍
This brilliant Pompeii performance was filmed in 1971. 45 years later, at age 70, in 2016, David Gilmour returned to this venue in Pompeii to perform live in front of a full audience.
Was a Privilege seeing David & Rick perform this in the Albert Hall in 2006 & for me, it's the best live version which is on film 🎥 Then again for 1970 this is a Stonker! 👌⭐️👍
1. Original studio version (Meddle 1971) 2. Live in Pompeii (1971) Parts 1 & 2 3. David Gilmour & Richard Wright live in Gdańsk( 2006). In my opinion, these are the 3 “must see” (or listen) versions of Echoes, even if you don’t react to all of them.
The fact that David Gilmore will not play this track since Richard Wright passed away says more about this piece of music than anything else. It's a Rich Wright composition through and through. One can hear how it's more of a jazz piece than it is a rock song or prog rock, indeed this live version is more about the vision he had for this song.
This is the best of the best live gigs ever. no lights, no glamour, just pure live music between 4 humans. it will go be with us for ever now!! so, great choice bro. Your channel will pump soon...I only just found you tonight and i've watched 5 vids already!!! loving it mate. pm if you want deeper feedback. xx
Recording a piece of music that long 50 years ago was unheard of. The album version fills 23 minutes an the entire side of a record. Very few radio stations would consider playing it, except when dramatically shortened. It was meant to enjoy with headphones or large good quality speakers preferably in the dark.
Checkout Nick's sick Stick Flip during the later part of David's first solo, after a multi David effect it cuts back to single Dave then to Nick (7:39-40) as the beat builds energy... soooo good!!
PF is the best band to ever exist. So many tunes to choose from-this song became the start of a journey of masterpieces from PF. From the album Meddle, then Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals and then The Wall. I would recommend making your way through all of these albums, if you haven't before.
The original studio version was the entirety of side 2 of my favorite Pink Floyd album, Meddle. An album tied for first place with Wish You Were Here, for me.
Absolutely love this track! This is where Pink Floyd really became Pink Floyd, love the whole Meddle album, my husband’s favorite album, thanks for the great reaction ❤
The Venue was not capable of supplying as much power as they needed. They had to run a 1 mile long cable from the town hall and paid security guards to guard it
Thanks for reacting to this awesome track , my favorite track ever! although I admit I say this for every Pink Floyd track I’m listening too lol great reaction ❤
You gotta lie down in a darkened room, put on the head phones and listen to all 20+ minutes of Echoes from the Meddle album in full without interruption. Free your mind and just let the music take you on an incredible journey.
The drummer Nick Mason, now spends his time tinkering with old cars in his shed. As i'm sure I would too, if I owned a collection of some of the finest and most eye-wateringly expensive classic cars ever made. He's somewhat of a Ferrari enthusiast and a regular on the ''historic racing'' scene.
I still prefer the studio version on Meddle because echoes is played in one piece and not two separate ones like in Pompeii. Many of the subtleties also get lost in the live version.
I missed everyone too! I don’t want to dive too far into my personal life, however! I am in the Army and I went away for a couple weeks to become an instructor for my job. 🤘💪 I came back and needed some down time to regain my creative energy. But I’m back for good now🔥
First recommendation - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do the studio version of this song! This music video is fun to watch, but the way it splits this masterpiece into two parts takes the listener right out of the mood and should never be used as a first listen. Please do yourself a favor and do the studio version to get a proper Echoes experience. I know most UA-cam comments recommend this music video version (no, it is not "live"), but this composition was never meant to be split up this way. To my knowledge, Echoes was never performed live as anything other than one complete musical piece. After doing the studio version, I suggest you check out the David Gilmour/Richard Wright performance from Gdansk. THAT is an actual live performance!
Completely Live but no audience was allowed & David Gilmour live show from 2016 was first time a audience limited to 2000 people where first inThe band insisted on playing live, and brought their regular touring gear with them. Their roadie, Peter Watts, suggested that the 8-track recorder would produce a sound comparable to a studio recording. In addition, the natural echo of the amphitheatre provided good acoustics for the recording.
The concerts were the first-ever rock performances played to an audience in the ancient Roman amphitheatre, which was built in 90 BC and entombed in ash when Vesuvius erupted in AD 79. David Gilmour is the only performer to play to an audience in the arena since the time of the gladiators, almost 2,000 years ago.21 Jul 2017. Have you seen echoes performance from Albert Hall's last performance of Rick in London?Gdansk followed days later The Albert Hall Echoes was just as stunning and arguably better as the same tour & on film remember that night 🌙 Bowie Crosby Nash FPhil Manzerena & Flyod regulars Guy Jon Carin Dick Parry. This is live just no audience.Peace out ✌️👍
@@Sean_Doire This was not a live performance. It was a music video. It started out like a live performance but then we see the band members walking around the area while the music plays and later see them performing in a studio setting. Plus the fact that it was cut into two halves destroyed any illusion of a true live recording. I challenge you to produce any example of Echoes ever split into two halves in a true live setting. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy watching the band in the Pompeii footage, but I hate the split and strongly prefer the studio version as a first listen for new fans. The Gdansk performance is my favorite live version of Echoes but I do think the Albert Hall concert is superior overall.
@jimj9729 I Agree I don't like the split version..ey do claim it is live hence the title Live in Pompei lol 😆 Seriously I do agree it was filmed day & night then probably edited etc..For me, it ain't a great video video. Not too keen on Pompei as much prefer the songs from proper live shows I do agree it's not proper live was only pointing out that the band claims it to be live but very much a music video for me.Seen them as a band & both David & Roger solo but Davids Albert Hall show was something special about that Show with Rick etc but do think that Gdansk is identical as only days between shows & same set list screen or pigs 🐖 etc & Rick said that it was his favourite tour. Was good to be able to see the band perform without hiding behind a stage show. The acoustic in that building is apparently one of the best in the world 🌎 Enjoyed that gig very much the Floyd sound as got David & Rick. Only saw Roger & David once together to sing Cnumb on Rogers's wall show & body language wasn't great tbh. Apologies as wasn't meaning to be one of these comment snoopers who deliberately jump in people's comments & think they know it all as I don't lol 😆 Seriously regards & Respect 💯✌️👍
Had you listened to the audio version there WOULD have been a surprise ahead for you. But you didn't, SO you missed out. Do the audio version and find out the complete story of this song!!!
This is in reaction to your reaction to “Oh Darling”. I can tell you with absolute certainty that was NOT The Beatles. It was a tribute act which attempted to duplicate every nuance Paul McCartney’s vocal on the released take. How do I know this? The Beatles nor Paul McCartney solo ever performed it in front of an audience. If you want to hear the authentic version, listen to the version taken from the “Abbey Road” album. Even when there’s been a different version available legally or from a bootleg album, every take sounds totally different from the rest. I knew it wasn’t the real deal from the first verse. I hope you’ll find the authentic version from Abbey Road.
I’m back everyone! Thank you so much for hanging on! Regular uploads will be every Tuesday and Thursday! 🤘🤘 let me know what I should react to next! 🤘🤘❤️
My rec:

100,000 audience and the last time Dave said he would ever play this since Ricks death ************

Richard Wright was an absolute genius and brilliant musician. His contribution to the success of the band was immense.
3 of these 4 guys performed years later in 1994 for the Pulse live songs.

good video man ...Pink Floyd has magic ..over flowing from their cup of creativity
Couldn't agree more! Thank you for watching and commenting 🤘
🤗 Catching up on your PF reactions! 🥰🐰
Yes, there is a second part, exactly like the second part of "shine on you crazy diamond" 😉

Oh wow!!! Thank you for the insight! That’s actually really sick. I appreciate you teaching me that
You have to check "Echoes" in david gilmour Royal Albert Hall concert 2006 finding true feel of....
Thanks for reacting to this awesome track , my favorite track ever! although I admit I say this for every Pink Floyd track I’m listening too lol great reaction ❤

Looks like a hot summer day in Pompeii
Everyone talks about guitars, bass ,vocals…..no one talks about cymbals
Noooooooo. Do em both together lol. The suspense 🎉😂
Next part will upload Thursday!! It’s already done and edited 💪

A different sound quality to the other videos on UA-cam much more crisp
While Americans were going to the moon, the British were doing this.
I think the version from Remember that Night it was a little better.
I’ll have to look into it! Thank you for the recommendation!
