  • No one is "wrong" or "bad" for having suicidal thoughts. If you are struggling with suicidal thoughts, please know you're not alone. There is help. The NATIONAL SUICIDE HOTLINE is 988. Just dial those three digits. Please know this, also: You have made it through every difficult experience you ever had, and you are absolutely strong enough to make it through this moment, too.
If you're worried about talking to someone who's struggling with suicidal thoughts because you're worried that you might "say the wrong thing," please know that you just being willing to be there for others means the world to them. You never need to say the "perfect" thing to just be present with someone and offer compassion.
Every emotional experience, no matter how dark, no matter how seemingly hopeless, has a beginning, middle and end. However any of us are ever feeling right now - I promise all of us - it cannot last forever.
Sending everyone who sees this, and everyone who doesn't, much peace.

Two friends of mine killed themselves within 2 months. They didn't know each other but I knew both of them personally. It's been a very sad thing to see this. Both men were young, 25-35. It's a permanent solution to a temporary problem. I wish I could have prevented it.

I survived a suicide attempt 1 year ago as I could no longer take the pain and suffering that took over my mind, body and soul for 40 years. I struggle every single day, even as I’m in therapy. I hope one day I will see the light and escape the darkness. One suggestion to those who are helping the individual post suicide attempt, do NOT get angry at them. It’s not helpful for anyone, this is my situation and it’s super painful. Thank you for posting this video.

I’m grateful you survived, and I’m so sorry to hear that you’re still having difficult moments. I definitely believe in your strength - and I don’t say that haphazardly, because I have the evidence of you surviving even your hardest moments. Please keep hanging in there. The meaning you’re creating with your continued effort will inspire others to make it through their most difficult times, too. Please know I’m sending you all of my best, and most definitely, tons of peace. 🙏🏼

Thank you for this, you're amazing. Also for some that have been through so much trauma and abuse, it's not just to stop the pain they are in but also seeing it as a self sacrifice to better the lives of those around them, because they've been continuously related to as the problem, therefore they figure it would be better if they were not alive and make everyone happier. There can be so much psychological damage, speaking from personal and a sisterhood of CSA survivors. Truly appreciate you putting these videos together Dr. Conte, they've been tremendous

Thank you Jacci. And my goodness are you right. There is so much pain that so many are experiencing. That's why I really believe it's so important to be patient and kind to others. None of us can every fully know everything that others are going through. Please know that I'm sending you all my best and tons of peace.

This hits home deep in my heart, my nephew was my whole heart, he committed suicide at the age of 13, almost 10
Years ago. I have been telling people and moms, is that suicide doesn’t “look like anything” and it’s unexplainable. I validate the fear of looking past the next 5 minutes or outcome. And that it is hard. And keep checking in and physical time, and compassion. ♾️

When it doesn't get any better, it eventually wears you down. Many people just flat out refuse to kill theirself but they exist with a death wish.

How do you identify if someone has suicidal tendencies though ? Bcos I tend to fall in love with very troubled guys to rescue them from their pain and I'm afraid if they might just end their life ...ofcourse I end up getting hurt
