    Hey Dr. Conte, I was curious, especially after watching some of your videos about anger and life experiences with and reflection about anger, about any possible correlation or causal connection between trait narcissism and anger proneness. Do you have any information about that, and would you be able to make a video about that? Peace.

      Thank you for your insightful question. As I've been telling people in the comments just now, I plan to start posting regularly in Aug of 2023, and that sounds like a great question to address. I do have some insight I'd like to share on that, because whether we look at a technical diagnosis of narcissism or just observe general self-focused behaviors, I think there is definitely a correlation. I would love for you to spread the word about this channel, and when I talk about this subject, you'll know it was your question I'm addressing. Sending you much peace for sure!

    First time viewer.
    I got a dual diagnosis of ADHD and ASD within the past few years. The year before that I was diagnosed as having an auditory processing disorder.
    Whatever the school district diagnosed me as having, they fell short. Of course, we know more now than we did a few decades ago.
    And apparently it seems as though a disproportionate number of people who get referred to anger management programs have a diagnosis of ADHD or have it and don't know it.
    Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria is technically not a valid diagnosis, but exists as a useful construct. My psychiatrist mentioned this to me. Whether this is objectively valid or not, it's basically been a recurring life long problem that my anger is abnormally long lived, intense and can be easily triggered. My Mother has the same or similar anger issues.
    There is medication for RSD, but not everyone responds. So far, I haven't had any luck.
    To further complicate things my voice seems to be stuck on: "louder than is socially acceptable for the context." There seems to be a lot more literature on how to speak up and project your voice, but not nearly enough on how to alter a pattern of speaking too loud. Supposing, it is possible to train myself to lower my voice. At this time I am not convinced I can reasonably sustain the effort required to hold onto my gains. And working with a speech language pathologist isn't cheap, it requires money.
    I often know and can sense the tension building and I know the kinds of things that can trigger me. My problem is figuring out how to work with this in a work environment. It feels like a damned if I do, damned if I don't kind of situation. If I need to excuse myself from the task at hand for a few minutes to take a breather, drink some water--I am in the wrong. But I am also in the wrong if I try to work through my moodiness and ultimately end up saying or doing something inappropriate.
    I hope I will find some helpful insights working my way through the playlists.
    Cheers.

    I was just thinking it had been a while since I had seen one of your videos. The reminder that wisdom is knowledge in action is very timely, it was one of the first statements that stood out to me when I started therapy a while ago. I am trying to live what I learn, but I definitely fall into trying to absorb sooo much knowledge that it gets glossed over. I'm trying something new this year and checking in with myself every 5 days to implement living out the concepts that I have learned to make them a practice instead of wishful thinking. Reminding myself that my life could look way different in 6 months if I just put my knowledge into practice. Always grateful for your videos and the unique way that you present these concepts! 🙂

I appreciate you watching my videos and supporting my work. Here's to you having the best year of your life and to constantly learning. Sending you all my best and definitely tons of peace!

    New viewer to your channel: I've been really enjoying your videos, especially those addressing anger understanding and controlling reaction to. I've suffered a bit from this in my work situations and usually have jumped companies as a result. SOmetimes I have regretted that knee jer reaction. I think my upbringing, and not having kids, has kept me from growth in dealing with some chaotic situations in the best ways.

    Angry people don't wanna learn

    • @DrChristianConte
      @DrChristianConte  10 місяців тому +2

      Not in the moment, no... that is why it's so important to learn the skill of validation - once angry people feel heard, they shift from the part of their brain that anchors emotions and can move into the higher-level thinking center of their brain. I appreciate you tuning in! Definitely sending you much peace!
