We’re effectively another world completely, but at the mercy of NYC and surrounding areas, dealing with politicians who are effectively elected by and for the people down there, policies and taxes for by and four people down there, being a resource piggybank (fun fact( the secret to real New York style pizza is water from specific parts of upstate that they bring down there in temper trucks to use for their dough, sauce, etc), dealing with the consequences of their choices, all while majority of the rest of the world forgets we exist. There have been bills on multiple occasions that have gone to the state Congress about separating upstate and downstate into separate
states, but they never actually gets voted on. We’re essentially a red (or on the rare occasion, purple) state that’s effectively subsumed and controlled by a deep blue state. That women is effectively hated with a passion by the vast majority of the region, as was her predecessor (even before he was scandalized). Basically, she was elected by a specific part of the state that has a lot of people in it, while the rest of the state doesn’t matter there.

ive never understood the misgendering thing being so upsetting. I very much so identify as a man but I also have long hair that is rather well kept. With a small/medium build(5'9" 150-160lbs) from behind ive been referred to as female before mostly while wearing something generic and non form fitting. Its never once bothered me, i usually just turn around, the person says something along the lines of "o shit sry" and everyone moves on with their day. If you are SO attached to how other people view you that something as simple as a misgender bothers you... you probably need to do some soul searching.

For real, some BBQ places use a mop devoted to the purpose. It's no different than using a kitchen towel.
Mop sauces aren't too uncommon in BBQ. Especially in A) large, high-volume places where they're not going to pay you by the hour to use a dainty little pastry brush or B) the Carolinas where the sauce is generally thinner and don't stick to brushes

The bbq mop is normal for cooking large quantities of bbq. Its not a dirty mop. Its just a big version of the paintbrush style use for smaller grilling.

I'm not sure how it is in the states, but in the store I work in we make a pretty negligible amount of money from having the self check out. That being said almost 1/3 of costumers go through it. Meaning that we can't actually afford to close them unless we hire more personal to man an extra till all day.
Last we checked I think that the median purchase for people through the self checkout was 30 dkk, while the amount of lost inventory is 11000 dkk a month in bread alone. That might seem like a non sequitur, but it's the easiest thing to steal due to it having to be punch in manually rather than having a barcode that the machines can read.
