Players Are Refunding Stellar Blade Under False Advertisement - Insider Gaming (insider-gaming.com)
The PlayStation Store will seemingly issue a refund for digital copies of Stellar Blade if the reason is for false advertisement.
The proof, first posted on Asmongold’s subreddit, shows a refund being issued. While the image doesn’t state the reason for the refund, the user who posted it says they got it by using false advertising as the reason.
Over the weekend, players took to social media to complain about apparent censorship in an outfit of Eve’s within the game. The outfit, a one-piece bathing suit, saw Eve’s chest covered a bit more as well as her hips. It’s gotten so much attention that there is even a petition with nearly 50,000 signatures to remove the “censorship”.
For what it’s work, the game’s director says that the costume that is there now is the “final costume” the studio wanted in the first place. He added that he knows “this answer is not enough to convince our user” and that there “is an internal discussion ongoing”.
Despite this “controversy” with the game, it has reportedly sold well. Zubytech took to Twitter to show early sales returns with a belief that the game would hit 1 million copies sold in its first 24 hours. As of writing, there’s been no official announcement from developer ShiftUp on early sales numbers for the game.

While it already had a strong foothold on rival platforms thanks to perennial best-sellers Call of Duty and Minecraft, Xbox recently announced plans to bring more first-party games to PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, starting with Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, Sea of Thieves and Grounded.
And during Microsoft’s third quarter earnings call on Thursday, CEO Satya Nadella said Xbox games have been performing strongly on the PlayStation Store.
“Earlier this month, we had seven games among the top 25 on the PlayStation Store, more than any other publisher,” he said.
Nadella appeared to be referencing a recent report from Tweaktown, which found that Xbox had more first-party games among the PlayStation Store’s 25 best-selling titles than Sony did.
On PS5 on April 18, these were Modern Warfare 3 at No.2, Overwatch 2 at No.7, Sea of Thieves at No.12, Fallout 4 at No.16, Minecraft at No.19, Fallout 76 at No.20 and Grounded at No.23.
In comparison, five Sony-published games made the list. They were MLB The Show 24, Destiny 2, and a trio of titles developed by third-party studios in Helldivers 2, Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin.

I pre-ordered stellar blade physically, and I'm waiting for the announcement of hi fi rush physical release. I got both GOW 2018 and ragnarok physically and all 3 Spiderman games as well. I got cyberpunk hogwarts, and even both of the Jedi games, all physical and on display in my room, and that's just a fraction of them. I only get digital if it's an online only sale, or if there is no physical release for the game

Ur getting lots wrong with the stellar blade stuff Jimmy! It’s not modelled on his wife, but he is married and it is modeled on a real woman.. but the stellar blade creators said that they were not going to censor ANYTHING, that was why I preordered the game! Then day one they already start censoring things that aren’t offensive or lewd, just because some game journalists talk shit about it, we were told it would not get censored, that includes the graffitied walls!!
And no one even cares if they swap some wall textures around. That isn't even censorship, more like 'oh, had no idea people thought that meant something else...' but teasing tantalizing lack of covering... then changing that and on top of it including the NG+ mode... that is pretty shady.

I don't get the issue with lewdness. It isn't for me but if that's what they marketed it as that's what you should have gotten. I've seen enough gameplay to realize lewdness and pretty graphics are probably all the game really has to offer anyway. Personally I think that's a bit sad but boys will be boys I guess?🤷♀

If im going to pay full price at $70 I feel better about it if it’s a physical copy.

I can definitely relate. I had to turn a game off to stop a sequence from happening. I’m not hating on the concept but I do believe there needs to be a series of discussions concerning this issue. Stronger censorship for kids & freedom to engage that type of content if that is your wish. To make a long story short reform in the game industry is badly needed. I’ve played killer games that children were playing with me. They killed everything a few games like pro gamers. Kids?

When I buy a vinyl record on Amazon, they also give me a code for free mp3’s so I have a physical and digital version of the music I buy. I believe consoles companies should operate the same instead of double charging.
I went back to Physical media, Because I don't trust these companies letting me get access to my Library in the future.
If something ever happens to my account, I lose all access. It happen to me Once on my Xbox account back in 2018. Despite having 2FA on, they gave me the middle finger, and locked my account due a suspicious activity. 200+ games gone !

That is a why when it comes to digital i only buy at cheapest prices possible. Things like $5 and under because at that price is like the price of renting something to play and since i see digital buys in this stores more as a rental, i only do that.
The vast majority of my library is physical except on PC but on PC i get most my games from GOG that is DRM free and i can do whatever i want with my games without relying on launchers etc.
That’s why I’m watching out not too buying games From ubsoft .
Can't you sue them? I don't know what country you are from so i don't know what your rights are in your place, but if that would have happened to me I would sue them to hand over my Account back or pay me back the damages i have got due to not having the games i bought.

Yeah hes reading the numbers wrong by a power of 10. Even if every single ps4 and ps5 owner bought it thats too many. So yeah its 33 mil, not 330 mil. And God of War is still an impressive 28 mil, not 280 mil. etc... EDIT: I went back top see what hes looking at, froze the frame, its $$ earned. it made $313 mil. That's not copies sold. The only time digital is valid is if it never had a physical or if the physical is way more expensive. Only buy physical, but alas too many casual people don’t care.
I sold 99% of my physical years ago. It'd be nice and I liked it for a while, but it's so much easier to just have everything downloaded, and I don't need entire rooms in my home just to store it all anymore.

I buy physical when I can. I don't trust digital releases anymore. I guess there's See? F. Double ewe!!! Yep there's that. Like for PS3 Vita < which got overturned > and then 3DS < can still dl games you bought and have played at least once > , but with those shops closing, and 3DS permanently it seems, useless to even bother with physical copies.
However. At least now with Nintendo Switch games making it so your account can be permanently < and it's Nintendo so probably no coming back from that > banned for someone using a unique identifier for a physical game you own. The big issue here is that people buy used games. It happens. But the bigger issue is that I'm sure people will figure out a way to spoof cart IDs for games they have no access to at all, which will lead to completely innocent people being banned and they didn't even do the big bag naughty of saving some money, and doing what is considered environmentally conscious thing of buying used games. Oh no.
Yeah. Like I want to get a mig and importer, since importing is legal and I still want to support the games I like, like the upcoming Fantasy Life: i, Pokemon Legends ZA, Pokemon BW3, and MAYBE . . . still on the fence . . . but maybe gen 10. Really not sure yet on that last one though.

I DO have a lot of digital games. From PS+, Humble Bundle, gifts, limited time free games, point redemptions < just picked up Bloodborne Old Hunters for free~ >, digital only, and discount games and day 1 games from PS4 which I got because my disc reader was failing so I HAD to get digital. But I have probably thirty physical games. And probably 1200 digital.
I have a couple of friends who collect tabletop games and I wish I was that girl except with physical games and old consoles. Sadly I don't have most of my old consoles, between trading up at Gameshark . . . no wait . . . Gamestop? They're sharks though that is true! But between that, stolen, lost, in a box in another state that I can't get to :(

I understand the convenience of a digital purchase but we need physical media to exist in order to get a good value on the used games market. They keep the price high for a game that is five years old if the only way to purchase it is a digital copy.

I loved Stellar blade, its a complete game, with close to flawless performance , free of bugs and crashes, with a good ammount of content , while at the same time i enjoy watching freaks fighting other freaks.
The rest of us in the middle we eat good and enjoy a game for what it is.

Stellar Blades director’s wife is the costume designer of the characters but she is beautiful also just not a model like the one that plays Eve and the gore is censored
Stellar Blade's dev didn't want the censoring. that's obvious. Which is why I don't want the game to fail. So I cancelled my PS+ Extra subsciption instead. I will punish the people at fault here.

the problem here is that the game got advertised as not being censored in any shape or form, not just the skin but also the gore main issue here is that the game got sold under a pretense of not being censored and last minute get a patch to censor certain aspects of it. We call that false advertisement and needs be penalize.
That is not accurate though. The developer made a tweet a few days before launch that the game will release uncensored in all regions. That is all. It was advertised as anything and Sony itself never said so.
Still people have right to be angry about any censorship in general because it is completely unneeded and pointless and takes the fun and excitement away for no reason.

Stellar Blade is literally picking a fight against the Entire triple A game industry. No bugs, free DLC, decent writing and good art, Free cosmetic skins, everything that triple A games no longer offer. Everyone else wants to destroy them.
315 million copies doesn’t make sense if you combine ps4 and ps5 sales that’s only 167 million. Every ps4 and ps5 owner would have to own it twice?

When I got stellar blade I got physical and never did the day 1 patch so I could enjoy the game as it was intended.

I bought one game with a physical copy. I played it twice. Now, the physical copy can't be read by the unit, so it won't play the game. Had I bought the game digitally, it would still be playable.

No. The console extracts the data from the disk and installs it on your console. It usually just downloads patches that get released after the disk.
That is why people with slow connections many times prefer getting the disk since it means they will have less things to download and wait for hours.
If you live in a rural area, and don't have access to gamestops or other multiple gamestores within an hour drive, digital downloads are a better option than hoping and praying one of the two local walmarts has it.

I would like to see Digital vs Disc sales.
I enjoy having the physically disk for the games I know I will play, however, have bought digital copy from the store but only sale discounted copies. I have always felt that the store is charging far too much for digital copies.
With the exception of one game, all of my digital purchases have been huge sales because I won't spend full price on a digital game mostly because it has no resale value. The one full price game I bought digitally was Stellar Blade. I won't be getting anymore digital games unless I see a sale I like, otherwise I'm going back to strictly physical.
It's impossible to stop buying digital from Sony cuz there's always a ridiculous sell or deal but I buy new full price game physical.
Only digital games I bought on the ps store, was the old ps2 and ps3 games!

His numbers are wrong. The guy read revenue as sales. Even if you put all the PS4 and PS5 consoles sold together they don't make 350 million so how did just the PlayStation Digital store sold 350 million copies?

These companies have slowly pushed us into buying digital games. The reason I started buying games in the ps store because I couldn't find most games without going to gamestop. I don't support them anymore.

On Stellar Blade it's not just about the costumes, they also removed a lot of the blood and gore. They made small changes which make no sense since it's a "M" rated game. It's also about the hypocrisy of Sony with the adult content including bestiality in western games that wasn't censored. And that guy who is "just trying to be famous" was a big name in the game industry.
In Stellar Blade, her different outfits have different armor strength.

It’s hard to stop buying digital when I have a digital system….
It's account based, unlike Nintendo, so I recommend trading it in and getting a PS5 with a built in disc drive. Then you can download everything (and probably transfer saves which isn't that important in the grand scheme of things).

Thanks for the video Jimmy. I started trying to buy all my games physically but I've noticed that it's a pain in the butt. Those ps store deals are really tempting. I just want to be able to see my games on the shelf and maybe have some resell value if i decide to sell any. They are really trying to get gamers to go digital but I'm not giving in just yet.

Ditto here PlayStation 1 2 3 and 4 not to mention dvds when I found out how cheap the summer and Christmas sales where for digital I jumped on it got the Batman Arkham collection for 6.99$ and Arkham knight premium same price plus digital runs way better and the only way to scratch it is if you drop your console😂

Buying physical in a lot of cases doesn't mean you have the game on the disc. In a lot of cases all your buying is the license to play the game that then goes to the PSN store and downloads the game digitally anyway.
You just have to do a little research before you buy a game. Most games are actually on the disk some try to do tricks like you said.
When they pull those tricks with the physical version i refuse to buy them in general because i know they do it just to make me buy digital so i prefer showing them my middle finger by not buying at all.

I purchased all my games for Xbox and PS at Walmart and GameStop. I have all physical disc games, and I mostly purchase digital games on Steam to play on my laptop so I can have my own copy of the full game on PC so I can stay away from digital games on consoles
Start buying from GOG. If a digital game on PC is also on GOG then buy it from there because they are DRM free unlike Steam that needs the launcher to play etc.
GOG gives you true freedom to do whatever you want with your game. Play it in any operating system it can be played and burn it on a disk or put it on a USB stick and take it to your friend and play it whether he has GOG or not it doesn't matter etc.
If it’s not owned it’s not buying, it’s leasing, like ps+ but you get to choose the game, unfortunately you don’t know when the game will be removed from your library.

The Stell Blade fiasco is all the rage right now, but I mentioned on another UA-camr's page, that maybe, and I could be wrong here, that Sony's legal team, stepped in and said you cannot have an uncensored game, now again I could be wrong, and they always intend for their character to look the way she is covered ( portrayed) they way the character is now. It may have been the lady who was the model for this character, outright told the game developer under no circumstances is the character to be that reveling, and theatend to sue if the character still looked like she did in the promo photo, so who knows, but I'm leaning towards Sony's legal team stepping in and told the developer that the character not look the way she did in the promo photo that was shown before the game's release, simply because of that fact they said the game/ character has to be censored, and if not Sony's legal team said that if is not censored they would strongly advise Sony's CEO not to release the game. It's sad ,but that maybe the reason why, luke I said I could be very wrong to assume that, so whi knows
I only buy digital due to the fact I only have the launch digital model, was really hoping Sony was gonna make a disk drive for the launch digital model, but they did not. I don't want to purchase the slim just to buy physical copies of games, but trust I'd buy hard copies if I had a way to play them 😒

In the long run digital would be a better option but what really need happen is protection laws on those digital goods and being able to access them without having to pay a fee. Censoring art is both disgusting and immoral.
Buying physical games doesn't solve the problem. Most physical games still require a download, some of them only contain the license. Most require an online connection, if they're multiplayer and they shut the servers down your disk becomes a coaster. What we need is legislation some type of digital media consumer protection act.
Only problem I have with starfield coming out on PlayStation is I bought a series s just to play it.

@@lukaskidd4621 turn off network and install from disk and even if you disable auto updates after you login you have to reinstall the game all over again with network turned off
I always try to buy physical first but latley games that I absolutely can’t live without and too lazy to grab the disk off the shelf of my collection I’ll buy a digital copy too especially if it’s on sale for like $.99 - $7 or so in most instances . If I take my PS4 / PS5 consoles out of the house ever want to make sure I have something digital on the drive / console storage and I already own a physical god forbid of a delist down the road . That’s all fine . But pushing for an all digital future , random delists when ever a company or provider feels like it .. I had my ps3 die during its life on market and buy the time I was ready to replace the console and put my psn info into it and redownload my downloaded games - all the marvel vs Capcom , street fighter vs x men and marvel fighters that got delisted made me become a Sega Saturn owner and walk away from Sony for the remainder of the PS3 and also get more into Wii / Wii U during their lives. Digital future maybe more fruitful for the high ups in these game company’s but it changes the tastes of many gamers in some instances even when it comes down to supporting an IP or console company
The only safe place to buy digital games is PC because if they get taken down you can take them back Jolly Roger style also the multiple store fronts helps to drive down prices of games also causes there to be a lot more sales.
The reason people buy them is because they strategically release them at hours you cannot get to the store. Midnight releases, so gamer wants to play it that night so he buys it digitally. It sucks..but that's one of the main reasons.
Play the demo in the demo blood used to stick to you just like in bloodborne but I tried changing the settings they patch that they passed out blood out of a rated M game Lol😅 to be honest if you don't like blood they should just give you an option to take it away.

They don't need to sell there games to Xbox but they should. And vise versa. We the gamers would benefit just imagine if first party gaming was over with and you could have other studios working with other studios that would never work with each other because they're first party. It’s a slippery slope, it’s not just that a costume was toned down (not to mentioned on a rated M game)…the point of it is the hypocrisy of it all. They’ll leave sex scene in LOU 2 or bulge in bolder gate. They scared of actual sexy women. first it’s a costume, then it was supposedly toned down gore, and on and on. My guy your game sales numbers are way off. Check those numbers. Ps3, 4, and 5 console total sales combined omly come to 250 million. They arent selling more copies of one game than they sold 3 generations of consoles to play the game on.

Digital games is a waste of money. If you move an try to keep you account if you don't remember the card number you last used to buy something everything is lost an every game you payed for is gone. I lost my account after years of playing since PS3 over 4000 trophies many payed for games digitally an lost everything because things was put in storage an cards stolen and had to get new cards. Sony needs to have a password for individual accounts users so nomater what that person will not loose them. I'm glad I got dise games too so I have something to play on my new account I had to make.
