PS5 Pro LEAKS! Full Spec and Goal Breakdown
PlayStation’s new Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), which will first be integrated into the PlayStation 5 Pro is internally aiming for 4K 120 FPS and 8K 60FPS console gaming, Insider Gaming has learned.
Currently, PSSR works on SKD 9.00 in the PlayStation 5 Pro to bring 4K resolutions.
Outlined in documents provided to Insider Gaming under the condition that they are not made public, PlayStation’s ambitions with PSSR is to achieve 4K 120FPS and 8K 60FPS. Whilst these are not the targets for the PS5 Pro due to hardware limitations, it is the internal goal for PSSR in future console interactions.
The PlayStation 5 Pro PSSR currently supports 3840×2160 and is currently aiming for 4K 60 FPS and 8K 30FPS, but it’s unclear if those internal milestones can be passed.
PSSR Memory Requirements is roughly 250MB; 180MB from the PSML Library and 64MB from the game.
Game 1
Target - image quality close to Fidelity Mode (1800p) with Performance Mode FPS (60 FPS)
Standard PlayStation 5 -
Performance Mode - 1080p at 60FPS
Fidelity Mode - 1800p at 30FPS
PlayStation 5 Pro -
1440p at 60FPS (PSSR used)
Game 2
Target - Add Raytracing to gameplay
Standard PlayStation 5 achieved 60FPS without raytracing, and PlayStation 5 Pro achieved 60FPS with Raytracing.

Most tv stations don't get 4k let alone 8k. No need for a 8k tv
You are still watching cable TV?
@blakejohnson5072 my area doesn't get the best internet so ya. Love cable get tons of channels for cheaper then buying streaming services.
Reporting to my local democracy officer. That is an unacceptable level of liberty.
The only 8K services is from HBO, Cinemax, and maybe one other, that's it.
@@zachc3246 cable definitely cost more than pay for a couple streaming services
give me 1440p 120hz / 4k 60hz and I will be happy for generations to come, screw 8k.
Exactly
1440 is so good
Not gonna happen. Only 10% better cpu. Any cpu bound game won't have meaningful fps upgrades.
most games use gpu more than cpu tbh, im running a rx 7800xt with a r5 2600 and cpu still has more to give@@edeneal3336
Gotham Knights was cpu limited
The pro is literally promising what the ps5 should already be doing.
And the pro wont either
Its called business bro
@@JeremyFriebel
Sadly, yes. I strongly suspect so.
Exactly in which the P-5 Pro should be the actually P-5. done right. They did the same thing with P-4 and P-4 Pro.
The Pro will have a CPU only 1 percent more powerful than Series X.
The human eye can barely even distinguish between 4k and 8k... There is no point to 8k gaming
well because you are playing on a small screen, I can clearly see sharpness difference on 77 inch screen between 8K and 4K, it's the same thing if you are running 1440p on 42" and then switch over to 4K you see immediately difference, but we'll you won't experience it as consoles are operating on upscalers not native res textures
@TheresOnlyOneRandom not true, the human eye can maximum see 6k resolution, doesnt matter how big the screen. Look it up.
For all the hype upscaling gets, they're trying to make "downscaling" the new thing. That's when you render something at resolutions as high as 6k or 8k, but then you downscale them to your viewing resolution. Like they've been doing for movie CGI since the '90s.
The rationale is that when you're starting out at the higher resolution, it can help reduce aliasing in the models, or make the reflections in ray tracing reflections look a little less blurry without having to use "expensive" stuff like MSAA and Ray Recontruction. So it's supposed to be a little more efficient.
I also think it makes people feel more comfortable blowing a lot of money for these consoles if they can make their consumers feel like it's "future proof," and it's going to be capable of handling stuff that might only be available upwards of 5-7 years from now and they won't have to trade it in at a Gamestop anytime soon. lol So there's a gimmick to it.
In that case games should be 6k not 8 k what’s the point of 8K will our eyes be confused to believe it’s real instead of a game?
@@sinchuf3367lol you don't get basic math do you. If you double the size of the ideal 4k screen it will look 2k, if you double the size again it'll look 1080 and so on. It is COMPLETELY size dependent and yes, 8k is included. 8K on. 200 inch screen wouldn't look as good as 4k on a 50 inch. Comprende? It's maths.
Happy with my standard disc based PS5. This gen has no need for a mid gen upgrade. Half the cycle was crossgen. Games have yet to fully max out the base PS5 hardware. Will be good for years to come still until next gen arrives.
That's obsurd lol. Because the games are maxing my 4090/14900k. I need dlss for some games to run smoothly. Until the p s five doesn't need to upscale everything from fourteen forty, It is definitely maxing out the hardware...
someone's mad they cant get what's new in town
many games already max out the PS5. I was shocked how bad the resolution of the new FF7 rebirth is to hit 60fps. I'm actually gonna wait till it comes to PC cuz its so blurry for 60fps. Helldivers also has to render at 1080p to hit 60fps. The 4k modes for both of those games are capped at 30fps which is terrible. The PS5 has many games that more than max out the PS5 already. What would be impressive is if it could run all games at 4k 60fps which was largely the marketing for it and its not true. I hope the PS5 pro can at least let all games play at 4k 60fps and allow more games to do 4k 120fps. I'm doubting even the pro will be able to pull that off tho even with upscaling.
@thecubingrealm what's new in town isn't even out yet, don't shit on ppl if they can't afford to buy a new console everytime one comes out. don't be trash
@DKprojects9 as long as it can do every game at 4k 60fps then it's a winner in my book. like I'm playing dragons dogma 2... it sucks its not 4k 60fps so hopefully with the pspro they'll give us an update to allow that.
If you do not have a PS5 then buy a pro . Me so happy with the PS5
I don't have PS 5 so i'll wait for the Pro.... until there PS4 Pro will keep rocking ✌🏻
Current consoles suck. BG3, DD2, FF16, ER all run like balls
@@purringbluzzmuffin8030none of those are first party games don't blame the console blame the devs
The launch ps5 was also sold as 4K 120fps and 8K capable so what’s the difference then?
Nah facts
Slightly better ray tracing and resolution.
A rip off is the difference.
8k video
And they conveniently left out that it wouldn't even be able to do it in full color 4:4:4. Took me about a week to figure out what the hell was going on with my TV. SMH
We need to boycott the PS five pro and make them put these features on the PS five what a greedy joke
Exactly but theres no convincing the sheep in the PS community!
Scalpers are on this hard 😂
Love the channel. Appreciate all the info! Makes things much easier to digest
That "sooooo" and zoom in was hilarious as hell. 😂😂😂
Rebuy for a couple small upgrades and also the ps5 is in ladder stages too.. love your channel by the way keep up the good work!!
the 8k 60fps, 4k 120fps refers to the limits of Sonys new upscaling tech, but it even says the pro won't be capable of it.
La la la. We aren’t listening.. La la la 😂
The resolution/fps claims are typically tied to hdmi port versions. If the hdmi port may be capable, meaning the console is technically capable, they will advertise that, as they did at the beginning of this generation. But will any devs actually release a game that will run at those frames? No. Maybe once in a blue moon. Something that isn't very demanding.
The video mentions Ori. It was an important point he made there.
is it going to be backwards compatible? will it play ps4 and current ps5 games?
This might be my first “Pro” PS.
I’ll wait till 2-3 years into the life cycle of the ps6 before I upgrade like I did with the ps5 (which is my very 1st ps)
Just wait 10 years for the ps7 or something
I got a ps5 slim for Xmas....I use it to play my PS4 games.
I think these 8k things are just the upscale resolution, I would just be happy it they can run totally native ultra with ray tracing or not at 4k
In the first minute, all the PC guys are on the floor laughing..... 4k 120 fps and 8k 60fps!!!!!!! As a kiwi, and as a kiwi says, YEAH NAH BRO!!!!!!! LOL
I’m thinking for the PS5 Pro, targets should be 4k @ 120/60. Trying for 8k in my opinion is pointless to me at this time, no one has the TVs for it, trying for 8k will ultimately come with its issues, so aiming lower (4k) seems more realistic. All anyone wants right now is nice 4k gaming with soliddd frames. Thats it, make that 4k resolution combo with solid frames and we’re good. I feel like aiming so high creates more issues right now and the cons just don’t make sense!
I've seen a few of your videos now, but for me this was outstanding. Subbed immediately! 💯
I have to ask you a question and I hope your able to answer it for me, you know the M,2 Nvme expansion Sd that fits into both the PS5 and Slim, do you happen to know or hear will it also fit into the PS5 Pro?
True 4K + perfect 60fps + full RTX at the same time is good enough. 8k and 120fps can be done in a decade later.
True 4K at 60fps with Full Ray Tracing (Not RTX that's an Nvida brand) with a 10% higher clocked exact same Zen 2 CPU???? NOT + GOING + 2 HAPPEN
you will be lucky if you get 1440p upscale to 4k at 60fps without rt or performance mode 1080p upscacled with good rt with 120hz at 40fps or without 120hz at 60fps, on games that will release later.
@@seinfeldx DF said that baldurs gate 3 won't hit 60 fps on PS5 pro, so expect 30fps to be standard till ps6, pure fax, unless you willing to sacrifice graphic quality
Will it be available in all Back, that is what I really want to know?
The upscaler is probably a FSR 3.1 variant. They can call it whatever buzz words they want.
Hi What Oled tv do you own, and which is the best? Thinking of the c3 lg 42, would you recommend
Im coming up from ps4. It’s worth waiting for me even tho my ps4 just broke down. If I already bought the ps5 I def would not bother with the pro. My base ps4 held up just fine with any games I played. The minor differences don’t justify buying into the same gen twice.
Most humans according to doctors can only see in 2K so if you're seeing more than that I would keep that to yourself or they will probably have to run experiments on you and see where you came from. 😁 Only time 4K or 8K comes in to play is when you have a screen that's super large if you're playing on a 50 inch 1080 TV 4K is not going to look much better if even noticed by most people. You can have a cheap 4K tlc TV and a high-end 1080 TV and the 1080 high-end TV could look better. Now if you have an 85 inch 4K will look better than 1080. But my question is most things we watch are not available in 4k so why would someone want 8K. 8K is basically non-existent when it comes to content.
70in 4k Samsung tv with the ps5 is pretty sweet.
That would be definitely pretty sweet.😁👍👍👍
even on a 27" monitor, there's a clear difference improving the native res of a game, from 1440p to 4K and 8k using supersampling
But super sampling is using basically AI to make the image look better. I think the Nvidia shield also does this.
I'm a PC gamer, playing on 77 " 8K tv, if I can see sharpness difference then anyone can see it, I was playing at 1440p most of the time and switching to 4K lifted the sharpness and clarity significantly, without changing graphic settings, 4090 isn't capable of 8K in new games but running Forza Horizon at 8K shows the potential, stop telling people that you can't see when you can clearly see that helldivers 2 is soft AF on ps5 compared to PC , fool
Was thinking of going from my PS4 pro to this Pro, but I think I'll wait. Plus all I mostly play is division 2 anyway.
True 4K 120hz with Dolby Vision. I do not care for 8K at all.
How about Sony give us what was advertised on ps4, ps4 pro & ps5 “true 4k gaming”, All these companies should be sued for false advertising and monopolistic practices with digital games
There is just one thing you kinda got wrong: higher resolution doesnt put more stress on the CPU it just puts more stress on the GPU and through custom APIs and due to much higher predictability you can optimize CPU cycles much better on a console compared to a PC. Also the PS5 CPU doesnt have to handle an entire OS or any other software besides the game, because that is outsourced to an ARM SoC that is also used for streaming and recording. But still the GPU in the PS5 Pro wont be nearly as fast as an RTX4090 so 120Hz 4k/8k 60Hz will not happen on consoles without any upscaling and frame interpolation for sure.
Will it have an optical out? For my home theatre.
probably not. hdmi carrys all that data
Great job PSReady damn. You did it, well explained even I can understand 😂
This was a good video Jimmy. I know you get crap from comments people saying you repeat what you say in new videos (which you sometimes do) but this was in fact a really good video. Thanks!
I like watching your videos because you do know what you are talking about. Fair play to you. Can you please tell me if that is the Ff7 remake or rebirth?
Great video. You really hit the points.
I appreciate that!
I don't have a ps5 yet, so I might upgrade to the pro if the price is comparable (or wait for standard's price to tank based on other's comments below). I have heard of issues on ps5, so if anyone can actually let me know if ps5 in general is stable, please let me know. (Got an xbox series x, but the dumpster fire it is kept dropping the wi-fi connection every few minutes - was not my internet)
Just bought a new ps5 slim disk version so I’ll definitely be skipping the pro model but since this is my first ps in years I’m curious is that disk drive supposed to be that noisy when loading up a game?
I've got just a regular PS5 and mine doesn't really make a whole lot of noise with disks. Some disks (not all) will sometimes have an initial noise when they first go in, but after a few seconds it virtually makes no noise.
You will hit those marks playing Ark Survival Ascended with Mods hands down.
I'm fine as long as it can ALWAYS target at least 4k 60fps.. if it can do that I'm buying. I don't care about 120fps, don't care about 8k.. just want stable 60fps at 4k.
I have an 4k TV but I play mostly on one of my 2k Displays I'm also using for my Mac/Work-PC so.. 1440p sounds perfekt to me. x)
NOTE:- SONY IN THEIR PROFESSIONAL AND BROADCAST RESEARCH, DEVELOPMENT AND HARDWARE SECTORS ARE TRULY LEGENDARY
Price and release day ???
Nobody knows yet
November, before xmas.
YES!! your comment about blu-ray being a superior quality over streaming is something ive been preaching for years! Everyone thinks im nuts but i swear i can tell a difference, and yes a dedicated blu-ray beats the ps5 all day (i love my ps5 but its true)
4k resolutions drastically reduce cpu load. Im not concerned about games not hitting 60fps at all. I would be willing to bet that most current ps5 games 30 fps modes could actually run in the 40s but are locked to 30 because its not consistent. This small boost to cpu in the pro could be more than enough to push them to 60fps. If the games are gpu bound, than the pro will absolutely push them much further and at higher resolutions. And RT is also improved a considerable amount
I have a Sony Bravia 43 inch smart 4k tv and I can barely notice 4k from 1080p.
SONY Bravia TV 's ✌🏻
I hope more game studios take a good stab at utilizing the atomontage engine graphics rendering technology in gaming projects.
What Bluray model do you own?
As long as the games I want to play will still play on my regular ps5 I’m going to stick with it.
Issue with graphics is simple, everything is fucking live service. Give more games offline and LAN, that issue would be back to being a trivial matter.
Same story like for PS4 PRO, but on end it was much better graphics. We can say when you play RDR2 on PRO was much better graphics and details..
just wish Sony would officially anounce it for hopefully this christmas
What display do you use? Try a proper panel.
LG Ultragear 27 inch OLED. It's awesome
Jimmie you need champagne 🍾 named “Jimmie Champagne”
Bought a slim last week even with pro rumors ramping up. Now it is pretty much a done deal for holiday 2024. Oh well. I couldn’t wait any longer.

next-gen PS6, most excited on AI usage for NPC behaviour / dialogues (a bit like Skyrim Chatgpt)

Question is should we waste money on a PS5 pro or wait for the next gen PlayStation 6. Is the pro really worth the money . Especially if you already have a ps5
cuz ps6 would be coming out for another 4 years on 2028.
@LCJammer but is a PS5 Pro worth the money. Now if you haven't already bought a PS5 then sure go with the Pro. But if your already running a PS5 I don't see a point . That was my point.
Just wait for the PS6, it’s right around the corner. PS5 Pro is pointless and a waste of money
From the specs I saw if you've got a PS5 not really. Unless you just like giving your money to Sony..
That's like buying a TV in 2023 and then buying the same TV with a number up in 2024.. If you like just throwing money at companies then by all means the companies with gladly take it
yes the AI features and the Boost in graphical performance with 1GB RAM boost(12 GBs to 13 GBs Dedicated) is nice but translated into real world it's not going to be meaningful. Especially when the CPU is the exact same with a very miniscule 10% optional boost. Which again will not have much of a meaningful translation into real world..
With the AI you might see better resolution maybe depending on how their upscaling technology works. Which is honestly the most exciting thing about the PS5 Pro is there upscaling Tech that might be on par with something like DLSS or XESS but hopefully far exceeds FSR.. But that is not something we will know until we see it in real world action
@@thedroneradventures8374depends on price and whether the specs are true. if the specs are 100% accurate and the ps5 pro launches at $549-600 usd then i will probably trade in my ps5.
Sony's TVs do not use some in-house HDR implementation. They have Dolby Vision. You're thinking of Samsung. HDR10 is a proprietary Samsung technology. Which is why it is on Samsung TVs almost exclusively and Samsung TVs don't support Dolby Vision. There are other aspects of Sony TVs that are bespoke (motion, color grading, etc...) and they are generally best in class in those areas. But they use DV for HDR.
Jimmy is a different kind of Peter Schrager
I went through 3 of TVs before finally one that is actually 120hz, not simulated nor “enhanced” but ACTUAL 120hz. Just for my ps5, and then when I got it, absolutely nothing was 120fps like they promised, and now to actually get what I was promised, I have to buy a new console
And? You should have waited before buying it.
What TV did you get that you were happy with?
GTA 6 wont even run 60fps on the pro though. 10% increase in cpu performance on a cpu demanding game. Digital foundry just put the whole gta 6 and ps5 pro idea to bed.
You don’t know and digital foundry doesnt know shit either they have been wrong many times before, also allot of devs have had pro Dev kits as early as 2022 so yeah I’m sure rockstar was probably one of the first to have pro dev kits they will definitely maximize gta 6 on the pro.
I mod my ps1 to play 4k and run at 60fps. It cost me $900, it blown up 2 seconds after I turn it on.
Ray tracing on doom eternal looks good
screen size more then 65 inch may benefit 8k.
8k 60fps. Heard it all now. Will struggle 1440 native at 60fps for most games. But better than current 30fps in quality mode. Would need twice the performance to achieve this so equivalent of a 4070s.
What's the game playing in the background... Final Fantasy?
The rumored GPU is a 4070-4080 equivalent? Gah damn
Wait a minute! This is the real image?!
Dear God let it be able to play any Playstation console game throughout time and make it regional free, let be able to hold more than one disc and I'll definitely buy more than one
Are your OLED TV’s made by Sony?
Thanks for a good video. It's difficult listening to people who refuse objectivity. I like PS and XBOX. This is a moderate upgrade. Maybe I'll just get a slim...
Ill honestly be happy if the Pro can run demanding games at 1440p 60fps with light RT. There have been too many games recently that run at 1080p 60fps with frame drops, or 1440p-4k 30fps. I only bought a PS5 a few months back, but ill happily sell it later this year for the upgrade, even though the CPU will still be on the same architecture
Im buy it since i bought a 8k TV on sell last November
Tempted to get a PS5 to play Stellar Blade.
8K 😂😂 yeah right, dream on. A 4 grand PC can’t hit 8K 60FPS easily. And I doubt it’ll hit 120FPS locked 4K either regularly. It’ll be a decent spec bump though, but I think it’ll easily cost 600.
Raytracing never seen the point of it as right now, as it's to taxing on the hardware by alot then having higher frame rate.
Hello mr. Jimi champagne!
💯
DLSS 3 Frame Generation is awesome IF the developer implements it RIGHT. Nvidia has lots of papers on the topic and there are a few devs that actually do it right to the point you can't really tell if it's on or off ;)
It would only matter if we could play scarface or godfather
We need to also talk about 1440p support there are millions of gamers are using 1440p hdr monitors
If they don’t get that PS5 console price point down to the consumer sweet spot of 300 to 400 dollars then they will never sell the equivalent of the PS4 and will never get the game sales they need to keep their console market healthy.
Sony are getting stupid and greedy again in all departments after losing Shuhei Yoshida.
Hey brother, my Hisense TV runs at 1440p as well as 4k. I play fortnite with the ps5 @120fps on it.
Underrated TV brand. I got one too. Great purchase for gaming 120 fps on console.
That’s sick
i absolutely agree! only issue i had was watching netflix with DOLBY VISION and the screen went green and purple. Turns out there was a late software update. I contacted Hisense and they sent out an auto update. problem solved. was definitely worth spending the money on it!@@JordanHosten

This is incorrect, The game will be running at the native resolution but will not render every pixel.
I cannot wait for thr ps5 pro.. i have skipped buying the ps5 slim. I have a collection of most all the consoles..but one top on my list has been the ps4 pro..
8k, 12k, 16k, 24k.... what gives.
Streaming at 4k is already chewing up GB's. So i never do it, Full HD is enough for streaming and the tv's with 4k support/upscaling software can do it. I'm not picky.
I got a friend who is hellbent on having the best of the best of the best visuals for everything. Like always going in discussion that his PC has better graphics due to new video card and he needs to get a better monitor to really show it etc..
I mean.. sure i guess people can be so picky to have that extra pixel or refresh rate with few seconds difference claiming it helps their gaming experience.. I don't buy it xD
If its truly 499. Ill save up and buy. But i want to see what the xboxsx pro looks like.
I believe Microsoft said they’re skipping mid console refresh this time.
I just want 4k 60fps
Ty for being honest, I own a ps5, series x, and a gaming computer, at this point I would be happy with 4K 60fps, which seems like nowadays is impossible on console , or how about getting a game to work properly on release ie(dragons dogma 2) among MANY others 🤦♂️ 😂
