IMPORTANT: Shift Up released a day 1 patch that adds an additional 2 display settings. 🤯 1. Film grain - this defaults to on and provides a subtle grainy film grain style over the screen which can help to hide lower detailed textures. I find this is quite subtle in Stellar Blade so have kept it on, but I do turn this off in most games. 2. Chromatic aberration - this defaults to on and I have disabled it. It adds a rainbowy and blurry lens effect to the edges of the screen in certain scenarios which is unrealistic and somewhat distracting. I'd advise you disable this one too. I also enlarged the hud so the health shield and stagger bars are much bigger its obviously easier to see but also looks much better and gives you more confidence due to maki g it feel like you have more health to a degree and making it feel like your doing more damage to a degree but honestly i just think it looks much better

One setting i suggest changing is the fishing setting. When fishing you press square several time, then hold R2. But you dont hold R2 all the way down, its very sensitive and a pain to get right. Change the setting dor that and now you can hold R2 all the way down.

I was playing the 1.0 version and when I encountered the 3 id cards to use the crane part, I had gotten all 3 chests but somehow didnt have the id cards. nothing I did helped and I was forced to install the patch in order to progress. if I had that setting enabled I may have the proper bunny suit right now lmao

That's a really good point! I think it would be cool if there was like a dynamic subtitles mode for film, TV & games where maybe not everything is subtitled, but the extremely quick easy-to-miss stuff is, like important text on documents shown in movies or inaudible sounds etc.

I was going to wait for a sale on this game but after learning the game may still be further censored I just want to play it as close to the artists intentions as possible so waiting for my copy to arrive later today. With motion blue it depends on what type for me to leave it on. If it is per pixel motion blur like a cartoon then I would leave it on as it usually looks amazing. These are cool tips. I generally turn off subtitles unless it is late at night when I sometimes just prefer to read text than have too much noise whilst playing. I thought the camera shake was cool, if a little excessive when I played the demo. The only bummer for me is the lack of foliage interaction. Perhaps this is something they could add to the rumoured PS5 pro console version down the line anyway. It is unreal engine 4 not 5 so perhaps it was just overlooked or it was performance issue on current console. I would love to find out from the developer just out of curiosity anyway.

Aha well spotted, and yes there is! When recording either via the PS5, or via a capture card, if HDR is enabled the colour space used is completely changed. So when it comes to editing, everything is incredibly washed out and it's not really possible to get it back to SDR for UA-cam. So anytime I'm capturing gameplay, capturing anything on my screen etc, HDR is disabled. Just makes the whole creator workflow so much easier.

I left mine on default; it highly depends on the screen. What you'd set it to would be quite different on a LG G4 to what you would on a Samsung LED 4K HDR TV for instance.
I keep seeing people have counters and dodges be a quick QTE in combat, how do you do that? I've never seen it, I've just had to pay attention and time it manually lol
I played around trying to figure this out and I THINK it only happens in story difficulty with the further assist option turned on too. It seems to slow the window and give you a QTE for it. I've not had it when in the regular difficulty so I believe this is the cause but I may be wrong :)
I did almost add this but tbh, at the time I made it, I hadn't played enough to really have been able to decide if this was the better option as I'd only had 1 or 2 opportunities to try it. Now I have though, completely agree it's a great setting!
I got subtitles on. I'm playing it in the Korean voice since it's a product of a Korean studio. Much like foreign movies and shows, I tend to like the original voice, as it's intended.
1:04 auto lock on? Although off for me, I always lock on and flick the camera stick left or right to change target. Not disengage then lock again. This also means instant camera spin to enemies behind.
Good point! This mechanic didn't seem to work before the day 1 patch for me though, which is why I last minute edited some text on that part to sort of correct myself. If you look at the top of the screen, I've placed that there. 😊 I still prefer auto lock on off personally though, as I find physically turning to where I want easier and faster than flicking the stick one direction x number of times to find the target you actually want to engage with. 100% understand why auto lock on can be appealing to some though 😊
Motion blur always off. Motion blur is a crutch game makers use to hide graphical problems related to movement. It is not realistic and even causes some major health issues for some players making it so they can't even play a game that has it on or forces it on. It should honestly be banned in game making.

I believe it's set to off by default (which is weird). Possible he didn't turn it on because of that. I know I noticed mine was set to off in the demo and had to turn it on. You'd think the game would recognize if your display had HDR and default it that way.
I was wondering if based on the demo they hadn’t dialled in the color values properly as yet. Getting HDR values right can be tricky and it is not always simple to implement

@@DEVILTAZ35 that's very true. I will say, the "auto HDR" used by the Series Xbox for 360 and original Xbox games is usually a nice upgrade. I can't imagine this is a hit to the hardware? It's literally forcing me to download it even though I have my system set to not do this. Sony can fuck straight off!
The honest and main reason is that if I record my footage with HDR enabled, then it washes out all of the colours completely unless I edit the video in HDR which is a massive pain. So the reason is just that it makes making the video easier. When I've been playing the game, I've toggled HDR to on. 😊 This is something I control system wide whenever I'm capturing any gameplay or footage for videos just for a better workflow :)
@allandm For me it heavily depends on the intensity of it. When there's a slider, I do tend to keep it on but will move it down from 10 to 1-3. I find then it still does it's job of hiding poor textures but without making the image look incredibly noisy. You won't be the only one though! I can understand the appeal behind the effect and I have kept it on for Stellar Blade myself. 😊
I'm a performance guy, screw graphics, but... I've been experiencing the full 60fps in Balance, this might've been missed/not talked about, but, yeah graphics option seems terrible laggy and performance might be unnecessary downgraded quality so balance may be the option for most.
Definitely agree! :) The difference in performance between performance and balanced just isn't enough here to sacrifice that much resolution and quality.
Oh of course, that's what this has to be 😊 The goal of these videos is to save people time from going in and out of the menu constantly and testing each out to see what's best, so they get the best experience from the get-go. These videos are of course more useful when there are a lot more options, so the GOW, SM2, Helldivers 2 vids etc I all did in the same way. 😊 Glad you still found it useful 😀

If you watch DF's breakdown of the different modes, the actual framecount you get on balanced and performance is very very similar, but the visual uptake you have on balanced vs performance is much larger than the performance gap between the 2, so it is definitely the preferred option for me. The extra 2-3 frames you might get in performance aren't as important to me as the bumped resolution and other bonuses of the balanced mode :)
I think it's just because games didn't use to have autocollect at all so making it not the default makes more sense than forcing it on. I do think games should start defaulting the option to on though for sure.
I honestly didn't find this to be the case. Are you using headphones, tv speakers or? Let me know and I'll give it a go on those and will let you know what I personally find to be the best. I've kept audio at defaults myself though and am using the Pulse Elite Headset on the bass boost audio preset.
@@Octorious I play with my TV OLED C1 LG. If I play with the preset options (all on 10/10) voices are low (Korean one). I changed sound effect and music into 8 and it’s slightly better…
@FabioEagle90 I have a CX so should be able to test this and give my thoughts. I'm home tomorrow so will give it a try and let you know what I settle on! TV speakers do sometimes produce audio that's a little too low for voices. Make sure your settings are set for speakers etc and also try configuring 3D audio for TV in the system settings (or maybe even turn it off if you have it on and see if it sounds better). But otherwise, yeah turning down the other sounds and then playing at a higher overall volume tends to work well 😊

Apparently some of the outfits have been censored with the patch as well. Sony pulled a bait and switch? I'm not sure how true this is

Nice, would also recommend you turn the music volume down too, to like 30%. I found that loud music often drowns out dialogue or other useful cues.

I beat the entire game on default sens. Honestly it didn’t hinder me too much but ill see if i like how the increase feels

I leave the auto lock on so I face the enemy correctly when I'm parrying, but this is personal preference.

1:04 auto lock on? Although off for me, I always lock on and flick the camera stick left or right to change target. Not disengage then lock again. This also means instant camera spin to enemies behind.
Good point! This mechanic didn't seem to work before the day 1 patch for me though, which is why I last minute edited some text on that part to sort of correct myself. If you look at the top of the screen, I've placed that there. 😊
I still prefer auto lock on off personally though, as I find physically turning to where I want easier and faster than flicking the stick one direction x number of times to find the target you actually want to engage with.

Motion blur always off. Motion blur is a crutch game makers use to hide graphical problems related to movement. It is not realistic and even causes some major health issues for some players making it so they can't even play a game that has it on or forces it on. It should honestly be banned in game making.

Is there a reason you left HDR off? I didn't notice any issues in the demo. Just curious if it's a preference or if you noticed an issue with it?
I believe it's set to off by default (which is weird). Possible he didn't turn it on because of that. I know I noticed mine was set to off in the demo and had to turn it on. You'd think the game would recognize if your display had HDR and default it that way.
I was wondering if based on the demo they hadn’t dialled in the color values properly as yet.
Getting HDR values right can be tricky and it is not always simple to implement

@@DEVILTAZ35 that's very true. I will say, the "auto HDR" used by the Series Xbox for 360 and original Xbox games is usually a nice upgrade. I can't imagine this is a hit to the hardware? I don't know, I'm just curious. I'm literally waiting for the stupid update to finish so I can start the game. It's literally forcing me to download it even though I have my system set to not do this. Sony can fuck straight off!
The honest and main reason is that if I record my footage with HDR enabled, then it washes out all of the colours completely unless I edit the video in HDR which is a massive pain.
So the reason is just that it makes making the video easier. When I've been playing the game, I've toggled HDR to on. 😊 This is something I control system wide whenever I'm capturing any gameplay or footage for videos just for a better workflow :)
Also turn off film grain 👌

@allandm For me it heavily depends on the intensity of it. When there's a slider, I do tend to keep it on but will move it down from 10 to 1-3. I find then it still does it's job of hiding poor textures but without making the image look incredibly noisy.
You won't be the only one though! I can understand the appeal behind the effect and I have kept it on for Stellar Blade myself. 😊

I'm a performance guy, screw graphics, but... I've been experiencing the full 60fps in Balance, this might've been missed/not talked about, but, yeah graphics option seems terrible laggy and performance might be unnecessary downgraded quality so balance may be the option for most.
Definitely agree! :) The difference in performance between performance and balanced just isn't enough here to sacrifice that much resolution and quality.

Oh of course, that's what this has to be 😊 The goal of these videos is to save people time from going in and out of the menu constantly and testing each out to see what's best, so they get the best experience from the get-go.
These videos are of course more useful when there are a lot more options, so the GOW, SM2, Helldivers 2 vids etc I all did in the same way. 😊

Why would you talk about frame rates to do perfect parries etc but recommend setting to balanced resolution. Go performance
If you watch DF's breakdown of the different modes, the actual framecount you get on balanced and performance is very very similar, but the visual uptake you have on balanced vs performance is much larger than the performance gap between the 2, so it is definitely the preferred option for me. The extra 2-3 frames you might get in performance aren't as important to me as the bumped resolution and other bonuses of the balanced mode :)

I think it's just because games didn't use to have autocollect at all so making it not the default makes more sense than forcing it on. I do think games should start defaulting the option to on though for sure.
And for audio options? Level’s voices is too low. What’s your raccomandations?
I honestly didn't find this to be the case. Are you using headphones, tv speakers or? Let me know and I'll give it a go on those and will let you know what I personally find to be the best. I've kept audio at defaults myself though and am using the Pulse Elite Headset on the bass boost audio preset.
@@Octorious I play with my TV OLED C1 LG. If I play with the preset options (all on 10/10) voices are low (Korean one). I changed sound effect and music into 8 and it’s slightly better…
@FabioEagle90 I have a CX so should be able to test this and give my thoughts. I'm home tomorrow so will give it a try and let you know what I settle on! TV speakers do sometimes produce audio that's a little too low for voices. Make sure your settings are set for speakers etc and also try configuring 3D audio for TV in the system settings (or maybe even turn it off if you have it on and see if it sounds better).
But otherwise, yeah turning down the other sounds and then playing at a higher overall volume tends to work well 😊
