I just tucked some thick cotton string down inside the gap. While the last coat was still pretty wet, but a little after I peeled the rest of the masking, I pulled it up along the seam and it cut the dip perfectly. I think they even make tape for wrapping cars that has a little string inside to cut out lines. I bet that would work similarly.
thanks very much for this video, I ran into this problem on a project. I really like the idea of pulling the trim away from the paint with the adhesive!
Can you guys possibly do a video of a car with White Plasti-Dip but with the new AutoFlex gloss? I'd be interested in seeing how it would look now since the last White Pasti-Dip you guys did was in 2013 with the old Glossifier. Thanks.
Top Video! I did it on mine with the blue M3 on the front doors, but you need about 30cm form inside the window over the rubber seal to the outside. Same effect. On back side window it works also if you put a little wire between rubber and car than you get little gap. Maybe this helps some... :D
Thanks for the tip. I have a question though; when you remove the plastic/adhesive from the rubber seal, wont it pull up on the plastidip coating you've laid inside the door jamb?
on my gti we taped down the trim like he did with the blue tape and on the back windows it peeled off the dip because the trim caught it every time i opened the door because of how the door trim was
Hey Fonsi, I've been wanting to plasti my Door handles. I have the type that you pull out, not lift up. Is there any suggestions you have on this? Or should I just get them wrapped? I don't know if the plasti would last long enough from the wear and tear.
It should last its pretty durable. If you can take the door handles off it would be easier to spray and get them covered completely. Takes more time but I'd say it's worth it.
It's a good idea. On the other hand, you should never put a sharp object directly on the car body, or else you would scratch the paint every time you do that. :)
I have chrome on the bottom part of the window trim on my galant I just put blue painters tape around the chrome part and covered the rest of the area to protect from overspray and just sprayed black plastidip on it
+bob cat When the letter M is pronounced, it sounds like "em" so since it begins with a vowel sound and we are saying the letters one by one, I would say "an" MK7
Its not "emmm" "k" though.... its an abbreviation for MARK 7 so "a" is appropriate and "an" is not. Two things about saying "M""K""7": When spoken it is not an abbreviation given that it is adding an additional syllable and second, it is just incorrect.
and videos like these are why diyourcar as a business will succeed. besides of course from having great products.
it's truly an unmatched level from any other company I know
Aside from having those awesome biceps of course!

Can you make a video showing the Satin black on trims ?
looks like Bennett has finally upgraded he's Golf GTI :)
Been meaning to ask how that seal was done that explains it :)
will this technique still work if my last coat is a glossifier coat?
Dosnt this make it harder for removal due to the edge been tucked behind the trim
What about the door frames? If you are going from say white car to black when you open your car doors they frames are still going to be white.
nice
What is the tape called?
Which Plasti dip can I spray with a stage 4 turbine and a hvlp gun?
I wish I'd seen this video a week ago, but now that I know what to get, take two will go off without a hitch.

When did he do that? The scissors were farther than you think from the car
he kept placing the scissor on the roof and the blade part touched the paint everytime.
Everytime you roll a window down or open the door wouldnt the rubber trim just rub against it and eventually cause it to peel?
no, it's very durable. won't wear from opening and closing doors
Pop door every coat while it dries?
Digiphex Electronics does this work perfectly?
How about painting the trim around the window? I have a VW Jetta Sportwagen with chrome window trim that I want black.
take the mouldings off plasti dip and reinstall. or take them off and wrap them in hi-performance black vinyl.
he already made a video on this
He made a Video on a Tesla about blacking out Chrome window trim
I have chrome on the bottom part of the window trim on my galant I just put blue painters tape around the chrome part and covered the rest of the area to protect from overspray and just sprayed black plastidip on it

You may want to add some more exercises to your gym routine instead of only working biceps.
