Man I musta watched this video about 10 times now. Great information for sure! I still struggle with getting the tape to sit far enough down that I'm not exposing trim but up enough so that it's not touching the paint. Gonna go back out after writing things down and try again. Won't move on to priming until this is perfect I dont need my shit looking busted when I'm all done. Thanks again for this man a real gem of a video!

Quick tip. You can put a small rope. Very thin between the trim and paint and it will help

Great job as usual. Do you use automotive masking tape or do you find that the regular stuff you buy at Lowe's or Walmart works fine? Also do you ever have primer get in the door jambs or on the rubber seals?
I tried some Amazon plastic rolls and paint flaked off it, so i bought a step-stool /paper dispenser and a big roll of masking paper. This works out well. Paper and tape together in any size i need. Big roll of 3m plastic for when i need a large area covered.

@BodeVision, i dont know much about bodywork/paint but i was curious about the taping off the holes where the taillights go. wouldn't it be more clean to tape it from inside so you get full coverage, no hard lines and nothing still gets inside? Just curious

I do prep work for a living. I tape in the exact same way with the exception of the plastic wrap.....I use paper. Not much difference except for the cost. My boss keeps telling me I’m wicked slow. Ya say it took 6 hrs to do 4 door handles and 4 windows.(with a few Interruptions). I wonder how long it would take to do the door jambs , hood and trunk and wheel wells? I have been taping for about a year and it takes me about two days to scuff ,clean and tape a whole car ,removing trim as I go. How do I get faster without sacrificing quality?

For the door handles you could just tape over it and then use the razor blade to cut out the outline of the handle.

So there is no need to remove the windows moldings? I figured you needed to remove them for a nice job. Otherwise you be able to see that transition

you are going to get bridging on that windshield rubber. It's a hack job, which I am totally fine with. :)
How to clean overspray on the window glass?
The masking tape from 3m with hard plastic is called j tape best stuff in my opinion as I'm a panel beater

Completely wrong process for the edge job and worried about tape cost lol you should fold 1/3 of tape, stickin to the folded side that brings no lines
