      This is a solid video, but I would add, be careful with any coatings on the windshield. I have tried spray waxes, and they can cause fogging, wiper skipping or other problems over time. I would primarily use Rain-X or another glass specific coating for any windshield treatment. Don't take chances with your visibility in weather or especially nighttime weather situations.

    Buffing is the key to everything when cleaning, waxing etc...great tip! Also seeing all that gunk come off the glass with the clay bar was quite eye opening. Just goes to show how important that step is before applying a ceramic coating. When all thatbis left behind, it causes the ceramics to fail. That was crazy to see all that come off.

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  3 роки тому +30

      Exactly! And the car wash already washed, and the glass cleaned again with a glass cleaner. And the claybar still pulled dirt and grime after all that!

    Thanks for the great tips. Fortunately I am already doing them. One other tip. I use a bucket of clean water with a little dish soap in it. Wring out the rag and wash away all the dirt. Then use a dry cloth to buff dry. Also, unless your windows are filthy, use the Mr Clean sponge for the outside to save your clay bar for your car paint. Dish soap will cut through most grime. Also, I use it for home window cleaning. A little dish soap goes a long way.

We have dedicated window towels now though. The newspaper plus a window towel works great actually. Stoner invisible glass is amazing.

    Hey Pan I have always struggled with cleaning the interior windshield cause it seems to streak like crazy. Until I found out about magic eraser sponges on the inside windshield.
    It cuts through all the film and grime that collects on the windshield (from the dash, and air con etc). You have to go back and use regular streak free cleaner, but it pretty much guarantees a spotless interior windshield in 2 steps.
    Tip: Lay down some towels or rags over the dash cause the sponge will drip a little water etc

    Nice job. I used to work new car dealer and detailed lots of trade in cars. We used to use vingar n water in spray bottle and left over news papers. Pan, A few years ago I had a bad experience with RainX. I applied the product, no problem. In the rain it performed flawlessly and even reduced wind noise in dry conditions. The problem occurred a few days later. I don't have a garage and live in a forested area. It was spring time and in the morning the windshield would be covered with pollen. Most of the pollen would brush off dry with the wipers or be blown away as I drove however If I activated the windshield-washer fluid the hydrophobic properties of the RainX didn't allow the washer fluid to actually wet the glass. The fluid just beaded up just like rainwater would. The pollen, on the other hand, absorbed the washer fluid and turned into a green paste which smeared back and forth across the windshield. When back home a full hand cleaning was needed. Since then I don't use RainX or waxes with hydrophobic properties on my windshield. Your thoughts?

    Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Pan! Thanks for more info and demo on glass cleaning! Perfect timing with my latest new car and the frustrations with very stubborn spots and roughness on the windshield. The clay bar shows all and really speaks for it's self! I definitely will be using that and or a magic eraser in future. Also found a product from rainX, a 2 in 1 that is safe for paint and exterior plastics to add hydrophobics and it works quite well. I also have been testing it out on the rear of my Mazda CX-30 as SUVs always get dirty in the back hatch area, that product really helps repel dirt and grime in between the washes. I'm interested to see once we get some snow and salty roads how it performs. Thanks for sharing.

    the best method to avoid streaks on windows and mirrors i heard about from my mother and have been using myself is MORNING FRESH dishwashing liquid along with a kitchen sponge. THAT'S IT! just make sure the sponge is soapy and not dry, it will leave soap streaks which will disappear on its own within a minute or two without leaving oil streaks of any kind requiring further tools like microfibre towels etc. a great product designed predominantly for washing dishes leaving them squeaky clean can be upscaled and applied to windows and mirrors all around the home. it will have the same effect on your vehicle as well. works great on my tinted windows too since there arent any harsh chemicals present in morning fresh. greetings from Australia Melbourne!

    I have not hand washed my car in probably over a year and it just doesn't really look new anymore, obviously. I run through brush washes sometimes which of course does okay but never leaves it looking great.
    From this channel I bought a shampoo foamer, some other tools like tire brushes, microfiber mitts and towels and even some Turtle Wax Pure Wash and Stoner Glass cleaner. Going to wash it for the first time later today and then try to put a simple Mother's CMX coat on it and see if it makes it looks closer to it did when it was new.

    Great demonstration, thanks much.
    I'd bet that brown residue on the clay is mostly the dirty old car wash wax and oily road film.
    I think your method is great, and I'd say removing the old waxy film before applying new wax, is why you get such great results. I'm off to try to find some of that clay.

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Mark. The more time you spend prepping a vehicle before you apply any form of protection, the better. The protection will perform better and last longer. Some people just wash the car and apply a wax. That's better than doing nothing, but nowhere near the maximum level of performance and looks.
      Ideally, you would:
      1) wash using a decon or stripping shampoo
      2) then use an iron remover to remove brake dust and fallout contamination
      3) then do a clay bar stage to remove impurities and other contaminants
      4) then machine polish the paintwork to perfection to remove swirls, scratches and oxidation
      5) then use an IPA or paint prep spray to remove polishing oils and ensure proper bonding of the protection
      6) and then you apply your choice of paint protection: a wax, paint sealant, ceramic coating or graphene coating.
      See how I fully detail a vehicle in this video: ua-cam.com/video/tjJPcdCUaK8/v-deo.html

    Nice! Thanks Pan. Before I picked up our new car, I ordered some clay. When I picked up the car, they told me it has a ceramic coating, so I was bummed that I purchased the clay.
    It's nice to hear that clay is still useful for windows. 🙂

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  Рік тому +1

      Hmmm. It's weird that they told you the car has a ceramic coating... If you didn't pay an extra for a coating service, they would never do that to a brand new car. First, coating services are very expensive. Second, never pay for the dealership to do that, as they always apply garbage products to maximize profits. If you don't want to coat your vehicle yourself, bring it to a real certified detailer.
      No car comes ceramic coated from the factory. And at the dealership, they only time they will apply anything is if you pay for it.
      So either they lied to you, or they charged you for a service you should have refused.
      A new car is never new until it's properly detailed.
      - at the factory, the paint defects are often corrected quickly by rotary polishing which can leave marks and holograms, so polishing corrects those, before you lock that in long term with a ceramic coating for example.
      - vehicles are then transported by truck, train and boat so they are exposed to the elements, industrial fallout, brake dust, rail dust, etc
      - vehicles are often left at boat docks (when transported by boat) or in exterior parking lots for weeks or months, again being exposed to the elements
      - at the dealership, the vehicles are almost always poorly prepped using the same dirty water that was used for all the cars on a given day, and poor washing and drying methods leading to swirls and scratches
      - at the dealership, a layer of cheap wax or paint sealant is usually applied to attempt to make the paint glossy prior to delivery. It's crucial to remove any previous protection before you apply a ceramic coating, as coatings need to bond directly to a virgin clear coat.
      If you only plan on applying a regular carnauba wax or paint sealant though, you could decide to skip machine polishing, as those protectants can be applied over existing protection and it's not as crucial to prep the paint as well.
      I explain all of this in this popular video: ua-cam.com/video/QgoyrC-5CMc/v-deo.html
      So you can better visualize the new car prep process, here are the steps I perform on a brand new car for my customers:

      @@PanTheOrganizer Thank you for your in-depth reply, it's appreciated.
      The dealer didn't charge me for a ceramic coating, so I'll have to assume you are 100% correct. It was the finance guy that told me about the ceramic coating, so I take his word with a huge grain of salt.
      Today I rinsed the Subaru Forester (aka Ruby) with electric pressure washer (60 deg fan), then applied a nice thick W4 Citrus Foam with foam cannon, let it sit a few then rinsed that off.
      I sprayed some W6 Iron & Fallout on wheels and surrounding areas, scrubbed tires and wheels then rinsed them and wet the car down again. I used the two bucket method using Gwash then rinsed the car down again.
      I used C2 Ceramic Sealant as a drying agent using a plush microfiber then hand buffed to nice gloss using a large, good quality, drying towel. Tomorrow I'll put some Aero Cosmetics Tire Dressing on the tires and wash all the windows using Invisible Glass and I may then use G6 Perfect Glass after.
      I use 303 products on the interior. I did get some Gtechniq - Quick Detailer and some DIY Sap Remover to use in between washes.
      Ruby is looking great, I hope using the C2 Ceramic Sealant wasn't a mistake, I'm mainly just trying to make sap removal easier, we have Fir trees here so pitch is a given.
      Thanks for all!

I want to do what you think is best as I think you're the BEST!!! Thanks again! Questions...Is the spray wax a replacement for the Aqualab sealant (from your other video)? Also, should the interior windows be clayed as well? Lastly, which Invisible Glass is preferred, liquid or aerosol spray? Please advise. Thanks!

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  7 місяців тому +1

      You wouldn't clay glass every week. This is more of a deep cleaning tutorial. You can wash the car, clay the glass, machine polish the glass, and then use a paint prep spray to remove polishing oils, and then apply a rain repellent like RainX (1 month durability), glass sealants like Aquapel or Gyeon QuickView (4-6 months durability), glass coatings like Soft99 Ultra Glaco or Gyeon View (12 months durability or more), etc. There are many options to protect glass.
      For regular weekly washes, you'd just wash the car, and once it's dry, you clean the glass with an automotive glass cleaner and a glass towel. It doesn't matter which version of Invisible Glass you buy. Both perform the same. Pick what you prefer, spray or aerosol (I prefer the aerosol version).
      You do not clay the interior of windows, as those aren't exposed to the exterior elements.
      For the interior of the windshield though, for a deeper clean, you can start by degreasing it as that accumulates a lot of fumes for interior materials that create a layer of chemical buildup. See my simple interior windshield cleaning tutorial here: ua-cam.com/video/3rF6keJ88Y8/v-deo.htmlsi=zF4NoZEXcPUGmOIm

    Invisible Glass is the best I've used....was always doubtful about using clay bar on windows but will give it a go...should remove a heap of specks that are only visible in bright sun....thanks
    Pan. 🙂

    Stoner Invisible Glass has been my go to for years. Cheap, available almost anywhere and effective. Tried the waffle weaves from Rag Company, but was never happy with the results. Have now switched to Griot's Garage PFM glass towels, am seeing visibly better results. Great video, thanks for sharing. Merry Christmas to you and yours, Pan!

    Nice to have a video on glass cleaning. I can apply a ceramic coating, correct the paint, even wet sand but sometimes the hardest thing is to get the inside of the windshield perfectly clean. Anyone else not able to take their eyes of the gloss black pillar trim in need of a polish?

    Only , wish I had that tri angle tool back in the eighties . I worked at a Chevy dealer and the all new Lumina APV began to sell , boy you had to reach to get that windshield clean for delivery !

      Bonnets. That’s old school. You won’t need those. Stick to proper cutting and polishing pads.
