My wife and just discovered your channel recently and love your informative videos! We are currently planning to visit Thailand for a few months and would love for you to do a video of some higher budget condos....maybe like in the $3000 - $4000 U.S per-month range.. Keep up the great work!!
Im planning to headover there in september i might take option 3 if its available. Checking out Phuket for two weeks in the mean time!.. Love your videos!
I first did an airbnb in Bangkok in 2016. First time I came to Thailand, the room I found was actually a hotel room where someone had listed, I figured out that all the airbnb host did was wait till I booked through him and then rented a room at the hotel. He made a few bucks and I learned a lesson..
Oh wow. How do you suppose you would avoid this in the future? I see so many rooms on Airbnb for cheap in Bangkok, now I am worried if they are just hotel rooms, and if I should cut out the middle man.
@@dezzyjones It only happened the first time. You become aware of the names of condos and hotels. Compare the pictures of airbnb to pictures of agoda rooms to see if the same. It wasnt really a big markup, just the idea of it.
@@dezzyjones I always call the hotel to confirm the actual rate and see if I can book over the phone or through social media. Only time I book online is that they tell me it’s cheaper to book online.
I liked option 2...I loved being close to the park. But we've only stayed in Bangkok for a month 2 times. We usually stay a few days and then go north or south.... and return for a few days before flying out. Love your videos.
Option 2 for the inclusiveness (a cleaning service) and clean pool/hot tub/park. A quick dip in the pool is always nice and I didn't see that happening at option 1. I'm sure you made the right choice with your local knowledge and on the ground observations. Video's don't pick up everything. Enjoy guys. Always a pleasure. Peace out.
What?! Almost $2000 USD for 1br/1ba?! Those are US prices. I thought Thailand was supposed to be cheap. If people continue paying those exorbitant prices in BKK soon it will be as expensive as NYC.
Thought the same thing. I am in Los Angeles and I pay less! WTF! Almost $2000 a month for the first option! It’s nice yes but still. I think the owners just jack up the price out of greed and knowing a foreigner will have it.
There was showed luxury condo. Any way, Bangkok is getting high cost living. Everywhere you go it's money. The transportation there not like in U.S. you pay each commuted it's not like subway/bus in NYC (I used to live in Bangkok and NYC before move to small state in U.S.)I feel like I spent more money when living in Bangkok. I feel calm and feel quality living life in small state is much better. Bangkok it a good place for visitor who has a nice vocation but not for long time living.
It's still a ridiculous bargain compared to San Francisco. Between SF and BKK, I'd rather live in BKK. I'm sure NYC is also in the vicinity of SF prices. That living room is the size of a $5k/mo apartment in SF.
Hello, we are looking at a flat in the same residence. Did they every clean up the pool? Can you give it a like if you would recommend the overall space. Thanks!
Your 3rd option is my old apartment! It was actually a great place to live and super convenient location and a really weird electronics mall across the street. Enjoy your new spot!
Great video Chris! It great to see someone who knows filmmaking! Just drives me crazy when I see a video condo tour and you get. This is me eating breaking, this me taking the BTS. This is me stopping at the market and shopping. Perhaps they get to the condo in fifteen or twenty minutes. By that time I am long gone. I will take number 2!
Hello Chris. I like more expensive version of option 2 because of the bar by the pool. The gym is better than option 1, as you said. But outside of the green pool, all were nice. Take care 😊
One time I stayed at the Banyon Tree near Lumphini Park. THe park was wonderful. The first time we were there we saw turtles all over the place, then this big lizard, but turned out to be monitor lizards. So exciting. It was a wonderful neighbourhood!!
Brian, I liked option 2 also for all those reasons you said. In fact, I booked a 4-night stay later this month so I can have an in-depth look to see if this could be a future go-to place for long-term Bangkok stays. Cheers.
Si Lom woulda been crash pad of the month for me. Location, location, location! Hey man, love your content. I’m likely moving to Thailand at some point soon in the future. The information you share really helps me figure out exactly where in Thailand I’ll begin the next chapter in my life. I appreciate you and all who help you create this terrific channel of yours. Option 3 I have travelled Europe and stayed in many bnbs I know what’s important. If your staying for at least a month you need a washer. Kitchen fridge. In Europe there washers are also dryers or we will put clothes on the balcony. You need the basics if your on vacation and nice of course. Need to see the sights and be able to swim in ocean at some point. Tfs good prices.
I liked option 2 but more importantly I love your return to some housing videos :) Your way of showing them is definitely my favorite. I hope you enjoy the last week or two Anna before she goes back to school!
Hello Chris, I just watched an interview with you on Thairish Times where you revealed that “your voice is annoying” opinion. I was stunned about this statement as I truly believe that you have great voice, like a professional entertainer! I actually admire you how much effort you put into pronunciation of spoken words. how articulate you are, and I wish 90% of UA-camrs could learn from you as some of them could really learn a lot from the way you speak. If it means anything to you, your voice has a character and is very original. Keep up the great work that people keep benefiting from and can understand spoken word. Your videos are very professional with interesting ideas. Thanks.
Agree. The 80.000 THB is ridiculous for the state and facilities of the accomodation. Not the first time they pick expensive. Their Chiang Mai AirBnB hunt was also totally out of touch with the real prices. This channel loves to go expensive and never does the research. But money doesn't seem to be an issue, so if they are happy.. Let them.
Although option 1 is definitely the nicest, I would have opted for option 3 or even 4 due to the much lower prices. I would trade a month of living in a nice apt for a month of "free" meals and ride shares.
I like option 3 same as you because of good neighborhood , good price, but option 1 is also good. Its huge. You are a good husband. because you do what your wife wants
Perfect timing to release this video esp July is gonna be fully open without restrictions, I'm thinking to stay in Thailand for few months and airbnb is definitely a good option. Good job Chris!
Hayley was spot on. I lived at Ploenchit for 7 years in Soi Nailert just opposite Ruamrudee and its a superb location. Genuinely. Everything you could possibly need is either on your doorstep or within striking distance and that's worth paying a little bit more for.
Hi Chris. This is Chris & Faby, guest #1 & 2 from Lush. I would vote for #3 but Faby gets our last say which is #1. We are wrapping up a month in Si Lom. To your point, there are a ton of awesome restaurants speckled around here., so venture over. See you around.
none of the above. I will park myself at J.W MARRIOT HOTEL NANA that cost maybe close to 80,000 thb for a month for 2pax with buffet breaksfast,laundry,electricity,water,Wi-Fi unlimited coffee and snack and many more

Hey Chris! Love the channel. From Vancouver and live in Thailand part time although, not as much as I'd like. I put on Retired when I'm feeling home sick for Thailand. Being in Canada most of the year I try to keep up my Thai language by learning to read Thai (love the subtitles btw) which allows me to get new vocab when I don't have native speakers to talk to. I would love to see you start formally studying Thai if you're not doing so already. It would be very cool if you did a comparison of some of the different language schools and resources! Keep up the good work and eat some Pad Grapao for me!!
Great video, as always. I'd love to see a house/apartment hunting video that is pet friendly. We are having a hard time finding an apartment 2 month rental in Chiang Mai that will allow our little dog. Turns out Thailand is not so dog friendly compared to other countries we have traveled to.
Love the transitions. When you said the manager said 70k, I was LMAO, then I heard the others were also more then I would have paid for what they offer....
My condo was during Covid 260 a month 19 th floor and pool Above me and fantastic gym no mosquitoes, now I’m paying 450 a month same thing , we get dinner for 15 bucks dinner at most
Why are the prices of Airbnb and apartment rentals so different? Is it because you rent an Airbnb only for a short time and an apartment for at least a year?

Option 1 only because I grew up in this soi. Still remember the time I rode my bike on the still-constructed expressway next to the soi. Check out Holy Redeemer Church near soi 5. It's probably the only Catholic church in Bangkok in Thai temple style.
Option 1 is nice but too much money. Plus the Pool is green and construction noise could be an issue. Option 3 is the best value and the neighborhood is super nice as well. It’s only 1 Month so don’t stress over the decision too much
Option 1 is deinitely the nicest but Bt70,000 a month is outrageous given there’s a construction nearby and you might not be able to use the pool. I really hope they give you discount or perks or both!
I would choose opt1, then opt2. But opt 2b or 3 I would not even consider, it's just grim. But tbh 1st place albite nice, it's just so empty, it's meh.. if lived there for years then could buy furniture etc I guess, but not if you do < 12 months. I want something more like option 2, but bigger and better in service / looks etc. Gym, bar, great and important. But things like better gym equipment for proper weight lifting, laundry services but with your own washer/dryer too.

70 000 THB, that's expensive in these times. Even for central Bangkok by BTS. You will find good hotels discounting a monthly rate well below that. 🐮

The room you looked at in Belle Rama 9 is actually 15K Baht per month for 1 year rent. One month rent is pretty expensive for a normal condominium
I’m with Hayley on this one, the shoe closet and dressing table area sold it to me!!
Good one Hayley x
I wish I was retired working for you buddy in Thailand 🇹🇭
Cheap Charlie here....going for option 3. Saving the money and spending it on other things!
option 1 the pool water matched the green decor Option 2 was the one but view in 3 was best
Wow prices are much higher than what you did a year or so ago
i can only pay 300 usd/month for a place. these prices are unacceptable.
you can find places for that price and public transport in BKK is abundant and cheap
