We were both still working, and took the payment amount that we had been using to pay off our mortgage faster and we put it straight into investments. We were able to retire early because of almost 7 years of putting away what would have been our mortgage payment as well as maxing out our 401K/403B plans. Thankfully we were taught by both of our parents the value of living within our means. Thank you for your advice. I know it will help people. we are interested in investments that could set me up for retirement , I mean I've heard of people that netted hundreds of thousands during these crash, I listened to someone on a podcast who earned over $650K in less than a year, what's the strategy behind such returns?
Investing without proper guidance can lead to mistakes and losses. I've learned this from my own experience. If you're new to investing or don't have much time, it's best to get advice from an expert.
Even with the right strategies and appropriate assets, investment returns can differ among investors. Recognizing the vital role of experience in investment success is crucial. Personally, I understood this significance and sought guidance from a market analyst, significantly growing my account to nearly a million. Strategically withdrawing profits just before the market correction, I'm now seizing buying opportunities once again.
How can one find a verifiable financial planner? I would not mind looking up the professional that helped you. I will be retiring in two years and I might need some management on my much larger portfolio. Don't want to take any chances.
Finding inner peace is my highest priority in life, and I'm genuinely glad you found it in Thailand. It marks a significant shift from your previous lifestyle, and I'm truly happy for you. Congrats to Paul for making the decision that is best for him. I was born in Thailand, but grew up in the States and currently live and work in California. What a weird comment. It shouldn’t matter what anyone else has it should only matter what you want in terms of life. Not comparing yourself to others as if cause someone has more material it makes them better or happier than someone with less
Do you realize how many millionaires exist in Bangkok? The amount of Billionaires that exist in that city is more than the entirety of many countries around the world.
This is the type of thing I support. Going where things work for you. This guy found the place that works for him, and many people in the comments echo his sentiment. I'm happy for them. I also love that everyone is different, and I can live in the north central US, where COL is low, the landscape is subtly pretty, and car infrastructure is widespread (I enjoy driving). I'm someone who appreciates geographic diversity, and the northern plains is perfect for me, specifically on America's population divide, where I can go east towards the many large cities of the upper midwest, but also west, and be in the mountains in less than 5 hours. I love snow and the cold, and could never live in the south. This is far from everyone's perfect reality, some want large cities with more job opportunities, while others want small towns where they know everyone and have a higher degree of privacy and control over who they interact with. Also, some people never want to deal with snow, while some think it's the only thing that makes winter fun. I think the ability to move somewhere that you like is one of the most straightforward ways to deal with many problems, and I think a lot of people know what they want, but they know less on where they can find that stuff. Keep traveling people, you might find your favorite place, even if you think you already found it.
they didn't mentioned he started be peddling courses in selling stuff online / drop shipping. And is now peddling off his youtube account / grifting off "consulting" people on moving to thailand. It's all a huge grift. Guy's entire everything is based off Bangkok / dooping people. Couldn't make it in NYC.
Hey, we workout at the same gym :D Glad you like it here. I've grown up in Bangkok in the 90s, the city still has a lot of room to improve, but it has seen some progress years by years. And yes, the happiness is not only about material things, sometimes it's more about how much you can save as well.
*Our economy is like a flailing fish, fighting for its life. The normal state of the U.S. economy is actually very bad. Because of this it goes into convulsive spasms fighting to grow any way it can out of desperation. Tricks, gimmicks, rule changes try to stimulate the economy and prevent it from falling but they only bring temporary relief to people since, when you factor in inflation we are declining.*
People believe their currency has the worth it does because they have no other option. Even in a hyperinflationary environment, individuals must continue to use their hyperinflationary currency since they likely have minimal access to other currencies or gold/silver coins.
Inflation is gradually going to become part of us and due to that fact any money you keep in cash or in a low-interest account declines in value each year. Investing is the only way to make your money grow and unless you have an exceptionally high income, investing is the only way most people will ever have enough money to retire.

Medical and dental is very affordable and world class in Bangkok. It is a great city for a lot of people.
Affordable comparing to what? For example, speaking of a dental care. What is a turnkey price to replace a tooth with an implant, medium implant supplier, not from Switzerland but from Brazil, Neodent, for example. I guess, this should be paid out of pocket - I doubt that a regular nomad insurance will cover such treatment.

My husband and I were fortunate enough to be able to pay off our mortgage early.

Congrats to Paul for making the decision that is best for him. I was born in Thailand, but grew up in the States and currently live and work in California.

Inflation is gradually going to become part of us and due to that fact any money you keep in cash or in a low-interest account declines in value each year. Investing is the only way to make your money grow and unless you have an exceptionally high income, investing is the only way most people will ever have enough money to retire.
