Good video, thank you. It's rare I watch a video all the way through without speeding it up. I'm rebuilding a 2300 for my '71 International D1200 with a 345.
Nice job man! That tab on the carb is to mount a fast idle solenoid for a/c vehicles if memory serves me. If it ends up not running good , I have a nearly new Holley 2bbl that's a newer version that I have no plans for. It came off of a running motor not long ago that I put a 4bbl on.
Thank you! Good to know, I wasn’t able to find a bracket on its own so just going to go without it for now. Thank you I’ll let you know how it goes, I will be making a install/run video soon.
Great video AJ! I rebuilt my 4 barrel on the Galaxie a while back. Video is on my channel. I didn't know that can of carb dip was a thing. I ended up using some cleaner and actually lightly boiling the bigger parts for about 20 minutes. It worked out pretty good. The metal on those old carbs are so soft, I was afraid I was gonna mar it up real bad. If you haven't already, check out Mike's Carburetors channel. I learned a ton from his videos. Again, great video. Always enjoy it.
Nice! I’ll check it out. The metal is soft I didn’t leave them in there to long either, It cleaned it up just enough. I actually did watch a few of Mikes videos when I was trying to find information. Thank you for watching!!
I rebuilt my 2300 and it starts and idles fine. It revs good but if you hold rpm at about 3500 rpm it will start stumbling and popping thru the carburetor. It's on a Ford 390. It only pops at high rpm and doesn't seem to be misfiring. No flames or anything like that. I was thinking sticky valve's but it immediately smooths out and idles fine afterwards. What are your thoughts? Running lean?
Yes my initial guess would be it’s running lean. Or could have a vacuum leak that’s introducing more air causing the mixture to be off and stumble and higher RPM. How did it run before?
@@AJsGarage like crap, it turned out to be points worn, replaced points and condenser and it was worse. Rebuilt carb and it didn't help. Ended up putting old condenser back in and it ran a lot better. Idle passage in carb got plugged up with something. Removed idle mixture screw and hit it with compressed air now it idles good and starts pretty easy but I still have to hit the gas before cranking to get it to start. Timing is correct by way of timing light and eng vac is best at that point too at idle.
@@mikes9117 I apologize for the delay in replying. So it’s running better now? I usually have to pump the accelerator a few times in my trucks also unless I drive them regularly.
I was wondering if that carburetor is from or compatible with a 1982 Ford F-150 xl 5.0 302ci engine? It sure does look identical to the carburetor I'm going to rebuild.
I’m not sure, it all depends on the list number that identifies Holley carburetors. It goes over what applications they were for. I remember this one was mainly for 60’s 70’s FE engines. We’re you able to find a rebuild kit?
I have a question restoring my f100 the had power at first now no power no lights no ignition no wiper no nothing I check everything it has no busted fuses

Thank you for watching! Nice, I like those International trucks. Been wanting to get one
Thanks for this! It was nice to watch this before I do my own so I could see what everything looks like. Nice work.
Glad it could help! Thank you for watching!
I have the same carburetor as you but I can't identify what it is could you please help
@@AJsGaragedo you know what list number you're holley has?
@@patricksullivan9787The list number should be up at the top somewhere maybe it’s worn down a lot? I believe in my Holley it was 7508-1

yup, the tab is for a fast idle solenoid have this setup on my '66 galaxie
AJ, thanks for putting up this video, very helpful as I rebuild a '78 Dodge D200 with a similar Holley 2 barrel
You’re welcome, thank you for watching! Glad it helped let me know how it goes once you get it rebuilt.
Nice job.
Thank you!
Helpful video Broski!!!
Thank you for watching bro!

Thank you! Hopefully I can get the truck running off of it next.

Could maybe be the grounds? Or losing power somewhere along the way? How are the battery terminal connections?
