    Thanks for the video I ran both the 7448/2300 old style with the overkill 50cc accelerator pump 8 mpg . I like the refresh of this S/A500 it's actually the front of a classic 750 CFM carburetor I switched to a 4 bbl and listened to the net racers on jegs / summit sites and bought the Edelbrock RPM intake overkill for a 360-390 it does not make enough compression to use 1/2 of that intake go with the regular performer a 390 will never spin over 5,000 RPM without a different crank shaft I'm at 4,800 rpm with the RPM intake and 600 Holly . If I had to do it all over the gear vendors overdrive and this carb is all you need .

      Thank you for watching! Also the information, been going back and forth on staying two barrel or going four barrel but I think for what I want to do with the truck this was the right choice. I’m trying to get as close to 15mpg.

      @@AJsGarage Yeah 👍 been there the biggest bang for the buck though was the overdrive transmission. I realized that I wouldn't have needed a 4 barrel after I installed it the biggest wow factor was with a overdrive or 4-speed automatic transmission you get the passing gear at high speeds in between 55/70 so you could be cruising at 65 and put the pedal all the way to the floor and it'll kick down into third and you get that seat of the pants take off power wow factor 😉. Anyway I just bought the summit 600 I'm a lot happier with that as far as tunability compared to a four-barrel Holley with the Dual float bowls and gaskets all over and this and that the top comes off like an autolite it's really easy for jet changes and you can leave the Dual feed fuel rail on it when you take the top off pretty simple.

      @TheThirdWheel618 Which automatic did you go with? In my 70 I eventually want to put in a 460/C6 but I know a later E4OD is an upgrade. That would make it a much nicer truck to drive

      @@AJsGarage I had my 390 rebuilt pretty fresh so i went with a gear vendors there pretty pricey
      I weighed all the options adapters , 5 speed swap , another transmission but I also just had my C6 rebuilt at the same time so to just add something onto it was the easiest for me . I Have a 250 with 3:73 gears I tried really big tires the rear first a lot of people comment on that and say they wouldn't spend that much money on a gear vendor they would just put big tires on it .
      With the 373 gear ratio they only drop me 200 RPM so instead of 3000 RPM at 60 I dropped down to 2,800 and still got 8 mi per gallon on the freeway. There's a lot of options out there but with the 390 I was limited the only logical thing to do other than the gear vendor what's to change the rear axle the Dana 60 only goes as high as 3:55 I tried to find those vintage 323s out there that people talk about but I've never found them.

      And I wanted to keep the truck all original I didn't want to hack it up and have a Dana 44 on an f250 with a 5 lug in the rear and have all kinds of mixed pieces and parts and then nobody wanted to buy it because I did it my way lol.

    Coming along ,sounds good 👍We are hoping to get our old 71' 350 running and driving again...hopefully in a couple of weeks 🤞It's been a long, slow, expensive, process over the past few months. Our engine was completely rebuilt, It's ridiculous how all the little parts add up on restoring old trucks🤦

    • @AJsGarage
      @AJsGarage  2 роки тому

      Nice! It definitely can be a long process. All the little stuff really adds up but its high price of some stuff that hurts lol. Hopefully I can start the restoration of my 70 F250 soon. The dually is just about done. Thank you for watching!

    How do you like this carburetor I am in the middle of building a 390 fe for my f250 highboy and I was thinking of getting one of these for it

      Honestly I haven’t driven the truck much with the Holley. I had an issue with the C6 and decided to swap everything over to a 4 speed. I’m just about done then I plan on driving it daily. Truck was more responsive from what I remember the few times I drove it.

    What's the size for the fuel inlet? My Holley 2300 Carb did not come with one.

    • @AJsGarage
      @AJsGarage  4 місяці тому

      Honestly I can’t remember, I don’t believe mine came with one either. I had to buy a few and see what fit. The fuel line should be 3/8 so you could search for a 3/8 barb fitting.

      Thank you for watching! I really would like to get to it soon. I ordered new gaskets for it but just haven’t made time, I want to finish up the brakes then I’ll probably tackle the exhaust leak.

    i have this same carb in my 67 IH Scout. I just bought it in October 2022. It was running great, firing right up but now i can't seem to get it to start. The sight glass shows it has fuel, it looked like it was 3 quarters full like you mentioned in your video. I looked down the carb it's not spitting out any fuel. I have 4 gallons of gas, fuel filter is full, sight glass shows fuel but it's not spitting out any fuel. Not sure where to go from here.

      I actually had something similar happen recently. The truck does not get driven regularly so I tried to move it and wouldn’t start. I check the oil just for whatever reason and it had a bunch of gas. With the oil in that state it wasn’t sealing therefore low compression and wouldn’t fire. I doubt you’d be having that problem but check the oil. I’m going to swap the truck back over to the motorcraft 2 barrel just for now

      I don’t believe it was fully warm. Having some issues with the carb dumping to much fuel in and making it to the oil. Going to do a follow up video soon, thank you for watching!

    How did you do the inline fuel setup

    • @AJsGarage
      @AJsGarage  6 місяців тому

      The inline set up? I believe I just ordered a barbed fitting for a 3/8 fuel like and used the existing steel line from the pump. Might have bent it a little for it not to a had angle and cause the fuel line to kink.

    • @AJsGarage
      @AJsGarage  Рік тому

      I haven't, Im actually having an issue with the carb(I believe) dumping to much fuel in or when its off because the oil has a lot of gas in it. Going to call Holley and see what they recommend adjusting. Thank you for watching, I'm planning on doing and update video when I get it figured out.

    • @AJsGarage
      @AJsGarage  Рік тому

      No luck yet. Been working on a few other things on the truck before I get her fired back up. I did look into it a bit and going to just go over basics, change out the mechanical fuel pump and check the carb to make sure everything’s clean. Once I get there need to drive it trucks been off the roads for quite some time so just want to make sure it’s running well. Plus change the plugs too

      I been revisiting this video because I sold my 2300 years ago and regret it 😢 im wanting to buy another one but the price tag is crazy . Regarding the gas in the oil Fords are notorious for there mechanical fuel pump diaphragm leaking gas into the crankcase while the engine is running if your gas goes down and your oil goes up on the dipstick and smells like gas 😮 good chance it's your fuel pump . I switched over to a electric pump and put a block off plate never again I went to change my oil once and oil oil oil.the wham gas all in the drain pan my engine was washed clean really bad for the rings and bearings .
