  • Thought I would share this with you guys. This rubber weatherstripping really helps to stop the flow of air entering through the gap on the hood. It comes in a lot of different sizes so check what you guys would like. I also use it for the rear doors which helps it have a more solid feel when you shut the door. I’m sure it will help with the road noise. Check it out below:

    Great video Jon! Just bought my 2.0 last month and I’m loving it! I do notice that there is way more road noise in the cabin than my previous 05 Accord. I’m sure the low profile wheels play a part, but it shouldn’t be that loud. Thinking of adding sound deadening material especially since I plan on upgrading the sound lol. Keep up the great videos!

    • @HondaJon
      @HondaJon  4 роки тому +1

      Is it off a lot? If it’s not flush with the fenders, the rubber grommets can be spun in or out to bring the hood higher or lower. If it’s not aligned side to side you can loosen the bolts that hold it to the brackets and align that way. They have play in them. Just do not loosen them too much cause then it’s hard to align back. Just push a tad and check and continue that way until you get it even on both sides. Hope that helps.

    Great video! Does your accord make a chirping/hissing or even a squeaking noise when the AC is on? I've been hearing some of that squeaking noise coming from under the hood for couple weeks now. I wonder if it's because the car is getting old (nearly 2 years)

    • @HondaJon

    • @mashchowdhury7549

      @@HondaJon No, the noise is pretty quiet. It sounds strange, like something is leaking. I did some research and a lot of people on the Drive Accord forum have the same problem. I think I'm done with Honda man. They're great cars and all, but so far I've had sooo many problems that are really infuriating. Dash rattle, noises under the rear seats, noise inside the trunk, and also this one time I started my car and the turning signals, hazards, locks, windows, headlights etc everything stopped working. I started it up the next morning and everything back to normal. It's really annoying when a 2 years old car with 5k miles on it has this many problems lol. I'm going with a Camry next time for sure.

      I read somewhere to cycle through your vent positions very quickly 2 or 3 times and the noise will stop temporarily. It seems to work. It has to do with the door vibrating in the a/c unit itself.

    • @alex.welding302
      @alex.welding302 3 роки тому +1

      I haven’t noticed if the hood vibrates, but the way the latch is set up, instead on a normal latch it moves up or down to to clip onto the hood, it also moves frontward and backwords as if it’s not tighten down in other words it rotates in a sense

    • @HondaJon
      @HondaJon  3 роки тому +2

      Ok. I believe the latch is on a pivot. I know the accords are. I don’t think there is a way to tighten that part. I would see if it vibrates while driving. That’s the main issue with aluminum hoods.

    I got my 2018 Accord EX-L 2.0 on Oct. 18. I loved the car except for the road noise, specially coming from the rear of the cabin. To resolve the issue, I removed all door, hood, and trunk lid panels, all of the trim from the trunk sides and floor as well as the rear seat and the back shelf trim. I applied a Noico brand butil sound deadening material to all bare metal surfaces. In addition, I applied a 1/8 inch thick dense foam laminate to insulate both heat and sound in some locations. My road noise at 70mph went from 72 dBa to 42 and I can enjoy my music at a sound level of 15.
    I applied the rubber trim on the front edge of the hood just as you did, for the purpose of keeping my engine bay clean, in Chicago winters. I also applied that trim in the bottom edge of the door rockers to keep them clean. This also contributed to reduce wind/road noise. I still get tire/ road noise coming from the front, but removing front carpet and trim is a big job

      Honda Jon yea this is the body shop- and when i went to the dealership no two accords we’re alike at all. The body gaps on these are awful.

    Honestly I was blown away by the accord 2.0 coming from a tuned bmw 440. But it seems to suffer from a lot of problems, is this why im seeing camrys way more?

    • @HondaJon

      I think a lot of new vehicles suffer from all the cost cutting. I still feel honda powertrains are some of the best out there.

      Honda Jon Yea the driving dynamics for a big economy sedan is levels above the competition. Honestly it makes 4 cylinder BMWs overpriced. Think this accord will be my next car.

    Have you had ever had a wind noise by the top of the window or door?

    • @HondaJon
      @HondaJon  4 роки тому +2

      I have. Honda’s seem to be notorious for that. I found that adjusting the rubber stops on the door definitely helped pull the door in more which helps reduce that noise.

    So that was great in theory but did you take it for a drive to look for the results? Just wondering if you saw a noticeable difference in cabin noise or hood vibration

    • @HondaJon
      @HondaJon  4 роки тому +1

      Hi. Yes I definitely went for a drive and it made a noticeable improvement. When you get up to speed especially on the freeway the hood would really shake. Now it’s not nearly as bad. It doesn’t make a difference of course when stopped just idling.

    • @Mean_Gene_69
      @Mean_Gene_69 4 роки тому +1

      What a shame the wanna save a few pounds and shave it off the hood. Personally I don’t think any hood should be so light that it flutters at highway speed. Bare minimum they should’ve reinforced the hood so it wouldn’t shake

    • @abdullahthabet6943
      @abdullahthabet6943 4 роки тому

      Honda Jon I know you did this for the hood but also u added some of it in the back doors, that’s why I’m asking about the noise in the cabin did it improve it or not. However, I have accord 2006, and I want to reduce the wind noise that comes from the doors. Do u think that if I sealed the doors as u showed us will help in reducing the wind noise?

    • @HondaJon

      Congratulations man. It’s just due to the aluminum hoods they use now. I’ve noticed some or worse than other. I do agree it kinda cheapens the reputation a bit.

    • @HondaJon
      @HondaJon  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks man. I appreciate that. Yeah I do feel a vibration but a lot of it is due to a 4 cylinder engine. They aren’t the smoothest engines. My v6 pilot is a lot smoother by nature.
