What I also love is that she doesn't need a huge, complex kit to do what she does.

Why I love Band-Maid so much and what I feel makes them be on a different level is their hard work. Akane, and everyone, never shies away from the difficult. And when you listen in order, from album to album you hear the progression. It's because Kanami doesn't write what they CAN play, but instead writes what she knows they'll BE ABLE to play with some work. So they never feel stagnant or like they're repeating themselves, every new song is a step forward. And Akane is the queen of not repeating herself.

one thing for sure, Akane was blessed with the best parent anyone could get, instead of listening to Akane's teacher, they choose Akane's passion and let her go for it,

The chaos of Moon with the precision of Peart. Every second of the song has a purpose, whether hitting a skin/cymbal or leaving space. She is a true master at her craft, never satisfied, always improving. Thanks

When I started drumming fifty years ago 🤯 in my mid teens, Ian Paice from Deep Purple was my go to drum god, nowadays sitting right beside him is a gorgeous and gorgeously talented drummer - Akane. I made a living out of drumming through my twenties and early thirties, but gave them away as I exited a toxic and brutal music industry. I would occasionally have a hit but there was little passion, then I tumbled onto a lil ol band out of Japan who blew my mind and OMG the drummer 😃 and while the great Jimmy Page has compared her to Bonzo ( how's that for a compliment) in my little part of the world I saw snippets of Ian Paice but in a style all her own and fck me she was having a hoot !! That struck me so hard, yes drumming is FUN, forget the crap and have a blast, so my drumming Goddess Akane Hirose got this old bastard back behind the kit and I couldn't be happier, now if she can inspire me like that I can only imagine how empowering Akane and her Rock Sisters are to legions of musicians ( particularly young women) all over the world. Thank you Akane Hirose for just being you Po 👍🍻

Akane isn't the fastest or most technical drummer, but what she has over everyone else on the market is the emotion her drumming carries. It's a quality you might expect to hear out of a steel drum kit but not a traditional kit and a quality I haven't seen another rock drummer replicate.

Band-Maid songs are complex compositions with many _sections_ . Akane is always playing the right pattern for the section, maybe a vocal bridge, or guitar solo, or just the verse or the chorus. And her transitions flow the song into the next section. AND... she throws in those beautiful fills so we don't get bored! Thanks for the reaction!
(I also think Ah-chan is the biggest personality in the band. Kobato has her schtick but Akane is genuinely funny, loves the camera and always ready to ham it up. (catwalk bit during YokoAri) She's underutilized in this regard.)

Hello again. Just finished watching. Great reaction as always!
    Two things:
Akane and I share a birthday.
The second Band Maid song that I saw was Freedom live. When Akane was absolutely killing the drum solo I thought of another drummer whom I've always admired. The band is called
Dr Teeth and the Electric Mayhem.
Check them out and you'll see what I mean.
    All the best my friend.

K-On anime literally led me to Band-Maid. I loved the music in it and started looking for the songs on youtube. Then Baby Metal popped up for me and I started watching reactions to them, then I saw a reaction to Band-Maid show up and tried it out. Fell in love immediately and they have been my top band ever since. I don't go a day without hearing at least one Band-Maid song (it helps that it's my phone alarm lol). But K-On is fun. It's a big of a genre called "cute girls do cute things". Usually comedies. No characters trying to kill each other, or violence. One of the most relaxing shows in is Laid Back Camp. Girls going camping in the winter, mostly. Also great music.

If you have not seen the anime "ぼっち・ざ・ろっく!(Bocchi-the-rock!)" about five girls who grow up together in a rock band, I recommend it. 👍
The story is about a guitarist girl who is not good at communicating and grows up with her friends through the formation of a band.
You can also enjoy listening to the music, including the songs played in the anime, the songs used in the OP and ED, and the actual album that was released.

In your description of her playing style, you missed one term that is at the forefront for me. 'Musical'. She is such a musical drummer. And so efficient too.
She's got arms like knots on cotton. Where does she get the endurance from for a whole concert. Oh yeah. That's right. "The gorilla loves bananas".

AKANÉ HIROSÉ Friend out of BAND MAID is another incredible talented Female drummer HARUNA ISHIKAWA from LOVEBITES. one of her ex: band partenaire on Motchi to cheese is Akané Minato singer of EAST OF EDEN (ex Prédia).

I was also about to write the comment that she wasn't the only Akane in Mochi to cheese, and her namesake is making relatively big waves right now as the lead singer of East Of Eden. 😁 A band that is very much on my radar and I really like what they've released so far. 👍🏻

I forgot to mention - you might wanna check out just how tasteful a drummer she is with "Wonderland" live (I had a gig at your past reactions and couldn't see it in there).
Saiki absolutely shines in this as well which is fitting since you just done her doco as well.

The clip you saw with Herman Lee was from "Herman Lee auditions for Band-Maid", and is so fun. I have a feeling Akane fainted when she heard Kanami say she now wanted to write something at 225bpm!

These are great! I've watched them many times and I never get tired of them. So professionally done. I think that comment about Akane goes for the whole band. They are musician's musicians, but they are for everybody, too.
If you're willing, there's an excellent music video for *"endless Story"* so you could do another "double Dunk." The video is set on a volcanic island (Izu Ōshima, if I'm not wrong, off the coast of Honshu east of the Izu Peninsula and southwest of the Bōsō Peninsula).

Thanks so much for this video and the others. It is amazing to learn how each of these women worked so very, very hard to perfect their craft and continue to push themselves to further greatness. I think this is one of the things that make us so enamored of this band. We all realize that what they are giving us is nothing less than their idea of perfection. Akane is inspirational. She won't settle for anything from herself that isn't beyond her best. I wonder how many of us would have continued as she did facing those obstacles to even being able to find drums she could practice with. I dare say most of us would have turned away from her path. Great, great reaction, Dude! I love your analysis and insights about the music you serve up here. Keep it up and best of luck!!!

Band-Maid has many ``episodes,'' ``rumors,'' and ``legends.'' Here's the most impressive story I've ever heard. When Band-Maid first formed, there was a rehearsal. Akane and Kanami were the only two who kept to the rehearsal time, and while they were waiting for the members who didn't show up, Kanami kept crying and Akane kept getting angry. After all the late members gathered, Akane announced that Band-Maid would be disbanded. The members who were late reflected on themselves, deeply apologized, and were forgiven. The truth of this story is not clear, but I suspect that Akane was chosen as the band leader at the time because of something like this.
