I love Kanami she is the shy and quiet one off stage, but the second a guitar is in her hands she is a shredding beast. The Band Maid rabbit hole is deep and I for one was happy I fell into it a couple of years ago.
They have an amazing effect on their listeners - especially the ones that already play music. They do so many little things that are so cool. Like that little unison about four bars into Kanami's Puzzle solo - two triplets; six notes in unison with bass and drums and rhythm, and it's so hip. They inspire everyone to try harder, to be a little cooler. People who hadn't played in decades decide to pick up their instrument again. People who listen to a lot of music listen a little closer. Neophytes decide to visit Reverb, or start Japanese on Duolingo. It's amazing.
I've been wearing out the DVD of the January concert that PUZZLE was from. It was the 19th song of their 26 song set and the pace was kept up throughout. This version of REAL EXISTENCE was the 25th song (of 26) on the Zepp 2018 concert. Band-Maid are hard working women and, of course, are consistently excellent, whether MV's or live - though as you clearly know, they shine brightest live. Another great reaction to THE best Hard Rock band in the galaxy and good to hear you've become a Maidiac and are telling your friends to check them out.
Kanami and Miku are this generations Lennon and McCartney. They are geniues! Miku knows 5 different methods of transforming Japanese words into rock music, which cannot be easy. Her knowing how to blend in English words at the correct time as well just adds to her creativity. Kanami has the mind of a savant. No 2 songs are alike. Her compositions are complex and she rarely repeats riffs into the second verse. The layering of 2 guitars and bass together while often playing different keys or melodies is brilliant. Only a gifted composer can do that. I do realize the other band members contribute, but it all begins with Kanami and Miku. You need to get to a concert. It's a life changing experience. Welcome Maidiac!
You REALLY need to get your hands on the Puzzle acoustic version. It’s totally beautiful and a must see. Down from UA-cam but just ask - someone will send a link. There seems to be no problems with copyright on reactions. 👍🏻
The Japanese rock/metal bands actually promote each other and cover and support each other. So no issues with multiple fandoms there. A refreshing and impressive culture!
I'm 71 and so happy I found Band Maid; 100+ song rabbit hole that impossibly has ZERO clinkers. My god Kanami is such a fantastic composer and her band mates fill in with just pure excellence. And the story of how this band formed is frankly miraculous Enjoy your journey every so called deep cut is outstanding
They have been Dominating me for half a decade now. It's time for *DOMINATION-MAID!* Umm . . .no. Ok, look, I didn't really think that name through. That's on me. It's a good thing Gary is in charge of promotions.
@@Bekka_Noyb Awesome. Hey Kanami said that to me. She said "I'm so glad Bekka got to us play this year. It's a pity you didn't get to see us Gary so cuteable".😏
There are a number of videos out there explaining the different members and how the stars coincidentally aligned to create this band. It's kind of amazing.
The true meaning of Band-Maid's World Domination is to help bring the world together with their music. And to make themselves widely known so they can keep writing and performing on their own terms. ;-) But this is why Band-Maid and their community is, and will continue to be, a growing, positive influence among people everywhere. Thanks JD, Band-Maid, fans, and fellow Maidiacs. 🌏🎀
They take the whole "maid" aspect into their lives shows. IMO the reason their live shows are so amazing is because they feel as tho they are performing a service for the masters and princesses ( the fans). Their shows are called an Okyuji which means "servicing/to service". Best and most fun small venue show I've ever experienced
Real Existence together with Moratorium are my favorite BAND-MAID song...and PUZZLE is not far behind! Nice reaction (MISA MISA MISA...) Apart from many western (american!) bands...they work as a unit!
Many people have mentioned the acoustic version of this song. The lyrics are actually heartbreaking for this song, and the acoustic version truly conveys the meaning of the words.
You hit serious home-runs with your first Band-Maid reaction choices. “Domination,” “Freedom,” “Puzzle” and “Real Existence,” all live?! Well, that’s about all they have, so you can retire now. (insert Maidiacs’ heads exploding emojis) Of course it’s just the beginning!! Band-Maid is exceptionally rare in my book, being musical artists with such a variety and depth that your next favorite song is probably next in queue. Wanna see them do what other bands can’t? Here’s your next mind-blowing two-fer: “From Now On,” “Daydreaming,” both music videos. Or at least keep them in line somewhere for your enjoyment 👍🏼
Band-Maid Bios - Ohrenje is the very best. One 25 minute segment for each member, except Miku, 3 x 30 minute segments for her. Great info. You will fall in love at a personal level with them.
I dig the two language rhyming. I heard a Japanese song they rhymed 'mo ippai' (too much) and 'cutie pie'. But it isn't difficult. You have an extra set of words :)
Lyrics of "Puzzle "is written by MIKU KOBATO only, this song's lyrics has very deep meaning and painful feelings, I don't understand how MIKU could write such a poetry-like lyrics. MIKU's talent of word selection and wording is brilliant and this prove her great presence in BANDMAID, and SAIKI conveys their concept of music, with AKNE, KANAMI, MISA. At the acoustic version of Puzzle, SAIKI's singing accually prove this fact.
So now, you need to find the acoustic version of Puzzle. Let me tell you, completely different feel. Much more emotional with Kanami (Guitarist) playing acoustic and doing back up vocals. Saiki's voice is just stellar. And to me, really shine in their ballads like Daydreaming and About Us. Wait till you get to see them live. Best show I have ever been too!
The "Pigeon" hole is deep. Maidiac status is not self appointed, ain't that easy. Only when you dig in and learn them as individuals, their beginnings, goals, dedication, sisterhood, relentless humor, tireless hard work, dedication and selfless fan devotion become relevant will you be a "Maidiac".....in my book. I'm from a forgotten era where hard work and dedication actually mean something. Welcome to Band-Maid....... keep digging. BTW, this concert is from 2018 and is on their Official UA-cam channel, it was only posted 6-months ago by whomever, the music video/song was released in 2015 off their "New Beginning" album. Enjoyed it, keep it up!
I agree with whomever suggested The Warning! ♥ MISA's smile! 😳 BTW - as someone mentioned, The Warning & Band Maid met at Aftershock & there's a short video of the 'event' 🙂
Great reactions. Welcome aboard, Maidiac! Puzzle is still one of my Top 10 Band-Maid songs. Real Existence was also up there like 4 years ago, but since then, so many new tunes bumped it down. That live recording still rocks, still Top 50, and that speaks to the sheer volume of great songs that band produced. One of your live stream viewers posted that they fell into the J-rock rabbit hole. Yep, I did that too. Band-Maid is by far my favorite. But, I got a bunch of J-rock artists I absolutely dig listening to. I don't listen to heavy metal, so my favorites will be an entirely different list of bands than those from other viewers.
I found the easiest way to process foreign vocals was a suggestion from my eldest who sings opera. Treat the foreign vocal like another instrument or like someone singing "la la la" etc. and it has had the most profound effect on how I enjoy foreign music. As a 45 yr guitarist and having performed in choirs, etc., you'd think I'd have thought of that, but nope. Old dog, new tricks...
There's a lot of good rock music around these days - no doubt about that. And yet, Band-Maid is racing away from the peloton, dominating the tour in every respect. Not a bit tired, they are even getting stronger and stronger.
I am old, grew up listening to prince in the 80s, who still is the best to me but I had basically given up on rock and hard rock for decades until Band Maid about 6 years ago. Band Maid is that good, not to say there are not good bands everywhere but they hit in a way that works perfectly. Doesnt hurt that I can speak japanese. I can say the same for Kpop, I was not into that until I discovered Mamamoo(up with the best of the best world wide for vocal talent) if you like BTS you will like Mamamoo. I had listened to R&B mainly before Band Maid. Babymetal put me on to metal as well, which led to bloodywood, nemophela and even judas priest since Su Metal did a duet with Rob Halford singing breaking the law. Same, I am a madiac, the fox god rules, a Moomoo, Plory. Insomnia, even an arianator. Probably the best thing to happen to music is the internet, sure I was listening to jpop as far back as 2004 but that was because I worked in japan. Today being exposed to music from the world is great for us fans and the Artists.
I love how much of a live band BM is! There are so many bands out there that are hot garbage in a live show! Their studio stuff is great don’t get me wrong but the live music is just on another level IMO!
Great reaction Mr. Just Dunk... I look forward to your next video...yup, you are on the precipice of wonderful, musical 'pigeon hole'......you have about 125+ songs/compositions.....fabulous instrumentals....and the alter ego 'Band-Maiko'.....a more Japanese/Geisha....oriented version ...with Kimonos/Temples and some traditional instruments ....and Akane eating sobu....enjoy the ride
Well, then I think we can officially welcome you to us Maidiacs. :) By the way, it is not a "crime" to be a follower of several fandoms. I am part of several myself. 😇 Inspiring is indeed a good word to describe these ladies and their music. And not only for musicians. With their almost poetic lyrics, and once you know more about the ladies (for which there are extensive possibilities), this also applies to life in general. If you really want to know more about the ladies, you should take some time. :) First, I would start with the 2 part interview from the Japanese program 'Music Gold Rush' from 2016. This will give you a good taste of what to expect. :) Subtitles are included, and the links are Part 1: ua-cam.com/video/R4PofsQYwn4/v-deo.html / Part 2: ua-cam.com/video/YzWETTu-4iE/v-deo.html .... In the first part of this, the MV for 'Alone' is played briefly, so it might not be a good idea to watch this in full first. By the way, this song is also their first self-written song for which their label at that time gave the 'go' for a release. A not unimportant point, because since then they write everything themselves. :) And if you want to dive really deep into the history of each lady, there is only one place to go. The channel of our dear 'Ohrenje'. Not too long ago, he has created a single detailed documentation for each of the ladies, which could easily be published officially. For our favorite pigeon, Miku, he even had to make 3 parts of it, which are optionally available in movie length. :) You can find the playlist here: ua-cam.com/play/PLVvkhHgIsXRQ5K0KI7k0Hmofhas_f4xv8.html _____________________ 「 _"Our rock never dies ever. As great as this is it's still the 2nd best perfomance of this song. Sadly that video is no longer on their channel I suggest these Band Maid songs: Dice, Manners, Bubble, Blooming, Warning (live) & Turn Me On (live) Here's link to last song (not on their channel) - ua-cam.com/video/l9ibUQ-V-Z4/v-deo.html BTW - the last song is not a fancam, but originally taken from a live dvd
BAND -MAID need to have a warning label attached - Caution Highly Addictive 😄 BM is one of the rarest of bands where their creativity, talent and professionalism is matched by their charisma and their humble gratitude to their fan base. If there's one thing better than BM it's enjoying BM with cold beer 😀 Viva the Maids peace and love Po 👍🎼🥁🎸🎤🍻
There's American and UK rock. Then there's Japanese rock and metal. But then beyond that there's Band-Maid. These ladies just seem to transcend language, nationality and even genre. 😁👍
not all their songs are 100 miles a minute... they also have mid tempo songs, slow ballads, and acoustic arrangements... At the drop of a hat Daydreaming Memorable Sayonakidori acoustic Catharsis acoustic ect
My 1st concert was in 1985. Band Maid is in my God Tier of live bands I have seen with Maiden, Dio, Jinjer and Babymetal. All different and all unforgettable.
When Band Maid doing Live, you just put together with they record, absolutely mind blowing,...that precision tho. The maids already another level. Great. Next "I still seek revenge" just one of the greatest from them.😁
Akane doesn't so much play the original drums for Band-Maid songs as much as she mostly plays the insane, over the top drum covers of Band-Maid songs and it's absolutely delightful. How she makes it through one song let alone an entire set just making the splashiest drums possible while still keeping to a coherent rhythm that isn't just speed metal is beyond me. So much going on but it's never repetitive.
There is a story behind this song. On the song before this one in the concert Saiki was crowd surfing and lost her shoes. You can see she has no shoes on if you look. There is a point in the song where Misa rushes over to Saiki and they are both smiling. They are smiling at each other because Misa always plays barefoot and she is smiling at Saiki since neither of them has shoes.
You nailed "IT" - That as a group Band-Maid has "IT" together and individually - Each of them exudes Charisma with a capital "C" during their performances. I was privileged enough to see them in Detroit this year and you could tell that they were happy to be there performing with each other and interacting with the audience. St. Andrews Hall is a small venue with the smallest stage on the North American leg of the "ten ant" tour - so small that Akane's drums were sans riser and the the rest of the band were bumping elbows frequently. The Band-Maid Logo backdrop was mounted as high as the SAH staff could get it, yet "BAND-MAID" was obscured by Akane and her cymbals. As tight as it was, the Maids still put on an incredible 22 song set bursting with energy from beginning to end. There's so much going on onstage that you can't really take it all in.
Be sure to make your plans now to be served by the ladies in August. Even if you have no one to go with you, you'll make plenty of friends by the time the show starts. Tickets will sell out.
This Real Existence Live Performance Is From 2018, Saiki Hasn't Worn Those Short Dresses Since Then. If You Notice At The End Of Kanami's Mini Solo She Looks Back At Saiki As If To Say Did I Do Good? There Is One Band Interview Where Kanami Confesses That She Has A Serious Girl Crush On Saiki, This Is An Intrical Part Of Their Overall Dynamic. The Song Itself Is About Saiki's Lover Being Preoccupied With A Robot Girl "A Big Thing In Japan" And Not Giving Her Enough Attention, "Could You Even Imagine"? OMG!!!
I saw Band-Maid and The Warning at the Aftershock Festival in 2022 ! Band-Maid is the best rock band in the world period =) If you never seen The Warning i would suggest the song "Money"or "Evolve" MV ! They are three sisters from Mexico
Welcome to the Band Maid rabbit hole. Don't feel silly when every new Band Maid song you hear instantly becomes your new favorite. We have all done that! It's amazing when you go back and listen to their very first album, where the label had total control and was pigeon-holing them (you will eventually get that pun) as a pop/idol band, and then compare that to their most recent EP. Band Maid is its own genre. They can cover all the bases of rock, metal, pop, punk, prog...all in one song! So enjoy the ride, and we will enjoy the journey with you, reliving those moments when we first heard these songs and were blown away! "Our rock never dies, ever! Forever!"
Small Pigeon writes the lyrics for all of their songs but a couple. Saiki wrote the lyrics for those. Puzzle is a rocker with a sad story. A married man has an affair with the woman telling the story. She says he’s the final piece in her puzzle but he has to return to hi family. Listen to the song again and read the lyrics in the context of the story.
I can't do the sorority thing. I went to see them live at HoB Chicago last November, got the shirt. I love them, Saiki has my heart to step on as she pleases. I'm a Band-Maid fan all the way, but the maidiac thing is too fucking weird, sounds like they wear matching sweaters and beanies. Same with Lovebites. If they make it to the U.S.(doubtful any time soon) I would give up food for three weeks to make it if I had to. But I'm definitely not in to that wolfpack silliness. Just be a fan, be a rabid fan if you really love them. That weird clique shit, not for me.
So you like to belong to people who love what you love, but you want to be alone in that crowd. In their concert you will be desperately looking for your little island that keeps disappearing, 😋
I love Kanami she is the shy and quiet one off stage, but the second a guitar is in her hands she is a shredding beast. The Band Maid rabbit hole is deep and I for one was happy I fell into it a couple of years ago.
Yup, being at their live shows is something you can’t understand until you’ve been there.
Another great reaction to THE best Hard Rock band in the galaxy and good to hear you've become a Maidiac and are telling your friends to check them out.
this is the one where Saiki misplaced her shoes..... and Misa just noticed....LOL
I heard this song 4 years ago, went down the Rabbit hole, never to come back.
Sayonakidori (acoustic ver) Very intimate performance. Miku on lead vocals, Akane on harmony, and Misa's smooth, sultry bass is a thing of beauty

The acoustic version of Puzzle is crazy good. It is the polar opposite of this version in every way but still just as (or more) incredible.

As great as this is it's still the 2nd best perfomance of this song. Sadly that video is no longer on their channel
I suggest these Band Maid songs: Dice, Manners, Bubble, Blooming, Warning (live) & Turn Me On (live)
Here's link to last song (not on their channel) - ua-cam.com/video/l9ibUQ-V-Z4/v-deo.html
BTW - the last song is not a fancam, but originally taken from a live dvd
Wait until you get to Band-Maiko, their alter ego 😊
Why don't you react to Gym Rock Crew's 2 part video on the entire history of band maid and each if its members?
Great idea!!!
MISA MISA MISA!!!!! MISA MISA MISA!!!!!
2+ hours of this LIVE at any BM concert! Mind Blowingly AWESOME!!!!
There's American and UK rock. Then there's Japanese rock and metal. But then beyond that there's Band-Maid. These ladies just seem to transcend language, nationality and even genre. 😁👍
Misa barefoot assassin.
not all their songs are 100 miles a minute... they also have mid tempo songs, slow ballads, and acoustic arrangements...
At the drop of a hat
Daydreaming
Memorable
Sayonakidori acoustic
Catharsis acoustic ect
More Nemophila soon?
Indeed!!
@@JustDunk awesome
Not a Once, Insomnia, Reveluv or Moo Moo yet?
Puzzle acoustic version is a must.
Band-Maid was the second best concert I've ever been to.
How many have you been to? Two? Lol
@@waynedahlen9655 yep that’s what I was gonna say.😁
Me too.
Number one is Pink Floyd at Tampa Stadium in 1994.
The Division Bell Tour with the giant disco ball.
My 1st concert was in 1985. Band Maid is in my God Tier of live bands I have seen with Maiden, Dio, Jinjer and Babymetal. All different and all unforgettable.
AKANE❤
When Band Maid doing Live, you just put together with they record, absolutely mind blowing,...that precision tho.
The maids already another level.
Great. Next "I still seek revenge" just one of the greatest from them.😁
You got long....way to go buddy with this band
You should see the acoustic version of "Puzzle"! You wouldn't even believe it's the same song. Absolutely beautiful!
Somebody needs to send you the acoustic version of Puzzle.... yes... I said acoustic.
His sacred holiness, TinyHat-san welcomes you to the Unseen World of Maidiacs. On to World Domination!
Yes! The Warning Army !! Gonna see them in Ohio 🤘 #thewarning
The drummer's name is pronounced: Ah-Ka-Ne
OMG!!!
Don't forget the Wolfpack bro!!!! Lovebites!!!!!
There's an acoustic version of Puzzle, and it's even better than this version. It's straight up sad. It's only Saiki and Kanami on an acoustic guitar.
Forever!"
No, your a Maidette at this point. Patience, Po!
Saiki lost her shoes in the crowd in Real Existence lol. That’s why Misa (normally bare foot) came down to tease her. 😂❤
If you think Lovebites is the best Japanese female power metal band, then Band Maid is the best Japanese female rock band.
Ob band maid or babymetal or lovebites 3 best live band is greet
Kanami❤ 🎸 The Battousai
