They'd probably perform better in SteamOS since you have easy access to the powertools plugin. Awesome video as always. Makes me want to get a steam deck even more. Can you make a video on how to get all of this setup. It would be greatly appreciated.
Wow this is a game changer for me. It's not super well integrated into SteamOS so I mainly just played PC games on my Deck. Will definitely get this beta up and running this weekend.
If you're going to be doing a dual boot setup on the Deck then I would prefer an auto menu section while booting up. Having to always remember to physically hold those buttons each time will be annoying fast.
That is possible, but currently a little involved to set up. Valve are going to officially support dual booting once SteamOS 3 gets a general PC release though
Honestly with EmuDeck installing all the emulators you need in one shot and configuring all the emulator for the deck and even making the hotkeys across all of them consistent, I don't know if this is worth the trouble. Plus you can still tweak the settings to your liking if you want. You can also make just the emulators show up in steam or each game. Edit: Plus you retain the Steam Deck functions.
Tweaking all the settings in emu deck is a pain though. Many / most important settings in batocera are accessible from the emulation station menus unlock emu deck’s implementation. (Unless it has recently changed)
@@hanspecans You don't need to tweak them though. I just did because I like having something function differently. All the settings are done for you. You just install.
i would be interested in a comparison between the 2 systems. but for sure, several things possible on batocera are not possible on emudeck ; this is why batocera was developped at system level, to be able to patch libraries or even drivers, for example to be able to use a wiimote as a joytick pad or a gun which will never be possible on emudeck. batocera is a more than 6 years system, it shares it work but several things have not yet be merged upstream like ps2 8 players on linux, etc. the es seems an old version too. now, recent system like emuelec or retrobat all uses batocera-es because it evolved a lot. it includes options, performances, themes, etc.
@@nicolas.adenis-lamarre I would like to see a comparison as well because at a emulator level, I'm pretty sure you can do what you're saying. EmuDeck isn't a single software exactly, it's a script that installs the emulators you need and configures them for you. I'm pretty sure you can sync a Wiimote to dolphin or even retroarch albeit a few more steps but you only have to do it one. You would just have to open the app and add the mapping. I would like to see a comparison in performance.
@@Madblaster6 you can probably pair to dolphin. but not to other emulators. im talking about some changes that require low level modifications. it should be hard to include them into emudeck without braking the rest of the system. on batocera for example, you can use the wiimote as a second pad for a 2nd player for any game.
Man! you got me with that front part is that a sticker? or a plate either way cool for a second I thought you had your steam deck bare open I had to do a double take and blink to see it wasn't lol

Another great video as always so thank you. I have been looking all over the place for Steam Deck PCSX2 settings for Grand Turismo 4 without success. Some tracks work perfectly while other races with opponents are unplayably slow. Even some of the chase license tests just stutter and struggle as long as the lead car is in view. In the B license test following the NSX at Laguna Seca the frame rate is garbage. Wondering if you have encountered the same issue and have a work around? Thanks in advance.
I can’t wait to get my Steam Deck. Waited like 2 months waiting on a reservation. Ordered it like a few days ago and now It’s at packaged item status right now. It should get ship to me soon. I have butterfly in my tummies. Lol! 🤤❤
I was waiting for something like this. Setting up emulators in steamOS is annoying. There will still be some games I run from steamos so I can use the full power of steam input with them but for 99% of retro games. This is the way to go.

Yes, it would be awesome to see a setup guide for Batocera emulator on Steam Deck using a windows pc
check my comment above
This is so exciting! I was just given the go to place my order and now I get to wait. Thanks for the video.
Please do a intructional video! I need this in my life and you're my favourite to watch.
Finally got a Steam Deck. I’d really like to see a walkthrough of how to set up Batocera. Huge thanks!!
Batocera setup guide please! This is an amazing piece of tech to have
Yes, I would love to see a how to video on setting everything up! Thanks for sharing about this emulator! Looks very promising
I've been running Batocera too on my Steam Deck! Totally love it!
Yes, exciting ! 😄
Edit ... no Tutorial not needed we have Retro Game Corps for that 😅
Hell yeah :-)
Hi there, just wanted to point out that in the Wii and PS2 segments, the title for the segment said "EMulation" with a capital M. Just thought I should point that out, awesome video though!
@7:35 YES PLEASE! I would love to see that full video. APlease
A Batocera guide would be great.. I always worry about bricking expensive tech
Yes sir please a full setup tutorial will be amazing. Keep up the great work.
Very interested in Batocerea tut. Thanks for the great vid :)
Yes, a tutorial would be great. I really don’t know anything about the setting up of all this emulators, how to select specific options to improve the performance of each game, so, a tutorial explaining all of that would be amazing.
Awesome video as always. Makes me want to get a steam deck even more. Can you make a video on how to get all of this setup. It would be greatly appreciated.
Valve really blew the competition out of the water with both performance and pricing with this mini beast.
That is super awesome that Batocera is now running on the Steam Deck.
I need an sd card with all this already installed man! Would be dope
Steamdeck is such a great machine not only for emulation but also to play almost any PC game quite decently, specially old ones.
I'd like that tutorial video 😎 haven't got my deck yet but I plan on putting in the reservation at the end of this week.
My steamdeck is coming next week and I am so pumped!
Super excited to try this out, tracking says my deck should arrive today!
Hell yeah I want a tutorial. Getting my Steam Deck next week!
Same here.
Would love the setup! I've got some friends that would benefit from it greatly, and it'd save me time from having to help them haha
Would love a full video tutorial on the setup :)
Man! you got me with that front part is that a sticker? or a plate either way cool for a second I thought you had your steam deck bare open I had to do a double take and blink to see it wasn't lol
PLEASE DO A FULL SET UP VIDEO! Lol i just ordered mine and its suppose to be here in two weeks and i want to be able to my retro games on it!
Currently have over 3,500 roms added to Betocera on my Steam Deck. Can confirm all my childhood favorites play flawlessly. Except for Halo 2 on Xbox emulation :(
Love this! Please do a full tutorial. Would definitely watch. Great stuff as always ETA!
Damn! ETA has been on his Deck so much that he wounded his thumb!
Great video! I just got my steam deck and I would love to see a full setup with batocera on steam deck... Many thanks!
Definitely want a setup guide! Awesome video!
I just threw some directions in the comments above.
ETA Prime, Bless Us All with a how to setup Batocera on the Steam deck. Thank You in advance ! 👊
No one ever talks about saturn emulation. Some truly wonderful RPG's on that system.
Yes tutorial please! Also if you could cover how to remove the previous emulation non dual boot set up that would be great lol
I was waiting for this!! 😍😍😍😍
YES PLEASE DO THAT TUTORIAL. SORRY FOR THE CAPS LOCK. I AM EXCITED. THATS ALL.
I would a tutorial on how to install this please! I would also like to see how well it handles Dreamcast and PS3
Most definitely wanting a full tutorial!!
I just purchased the steam deck Mann I’ll have a field day with this console
0:31 Why'd you have to do Banjo and Kazooie like that 🤣
Thats awesome. Keep up the good work mate. many of us need your knowledge
This looks amazing! I would very much appreciate a video dedicated to setup.
