I have to rate the honesty. Hopefully people watching this will learn that making emotional decisions over a car you cant afford is a mistake. Good luck for the future though.

Props to you man for owning your mistake. Takes a lot of character to not only not hide that burden from your family, but also to share with the world! Fair play.
I've sadly got a brother who doesn't appear to believe in car insurance. He takes out a policy so that he's insured, then drives as normal and when the monthly payment is due, he just doesn't pay it.
He'll get a letter in the post saying he's missed a payment, but the policy will still be active, then next month they'll send another letter demanding payment, which again he won't make. Following month he'll get a final letter saying policy getting cancelled if not paid within 7 days.
Of course he doesn't pay a penny, and his policy gets cancelled, even though he's had over 2 months of coverage off them.
Anyway, it caught up with him recently when he was pulled over by the police and they asked to check his insurance, which of course he didn't have. He tried to blag it that he was insured but the insurer hasn't upgraded the Motor Insurance Database, to which the police asked him to produce his documents within 7 days at any police station.
Naturally, as he didn't have any documents, he wasn't able to do so, but being as stupid as he is, he thought he would be able to buy a new policy AFTER being stopped by the police and try to have them believe, somehow, that he was covered when they stopped him.
Now he's being taken to court, hehe!

Same happended to me mate, most embarrassing moment to date. Everyone asking 'why you not driving' and coming up with every excuse. Now im paying 2K a year now for a 320d, points come off next year so i can look for a new car. Lesson Learned for me.
Insurance is a scam. Don't get dodgy insurance it ain't worth it.
I was driving my own cars insured in my father's name for years , I recently in January got caught in my girlfriends car no licence no insurance , only got 6 points and a fine no ban , 2 weeks later passed my test ( in the car I got caught in lol ) been a good boy ever since , make mistakes learn your lesson , it's a normal thing round my area off-road bikes everywhere on the streets and loads of uninsured unlicenced drivers hence why I did it it's one of those if they can get away with it so can I but the best thing for me was being caught as it made me pass my test

Similar thing happened to me, used to drive my parents cars everywhere for over 2 years. One day I got caught (like a year ago), I was so pissed. Decided it’s best to always be on the right side of the law in the long run, I’ve got my own car now and I’m happy I’ve learnt my lesson

You gotta pay to play. Cars, holidays, houses etc whatever it is. If you want a 1L Corsa B then you pay 1L Corsa B money, if you want a Range Rover SVR then be prepared to pay Ranger Rover SVR money. Insurance, servicing, tax, tyres etc. Shortcuts/cheats will forever be appealing but you'll regret it when it catches up with you

My merc got hit this year by a guy who spent all his money on his car & didn’t bother with insurance. He ran off tried to lie say was knicked etc but my dash cam showed he was lieing. I lost £500 excess and got back £1800 less than the car cost to replace like for like.

I got flashed doing 49 on a 40 road then on the same road 4 hours later got caught doing 52. They gave me 6 points and had to do my tests again. Got my licence back after a month.

I got 6 points in my first 2 months. I ve had my license revoked and been banned for 6 months. And Ive been on Police Interceptors. Ive been there done that and have the TT99 making my insurance premiums rocket.

Just happened to me this morning, just started my detailing business and decided to drive the car without checking if it had insurance or not, got caught on a check point, have 10 days to produce proof of insurance and license, probably going court and loosing lisense, legit got my lisense 2 months ago, and ngl I’m shutting bricks rn, leason definitely learned

What happens when you already have a car licence for 10 years with 0 points on licence, but then pass a new category let say motorbike and reivece 6 points on licence. In that case will you lose all your entitlement or just the new one?
Pretty sure the new drivers act only covers people who have had a license for 2 years or less. Considering that you already have a license, i believe that your motorbike license is added onto your driving license. It’s the same for people who have had their license for over 2 years and have it revoked or they get banned. Once they get their license back, they still have 12 points to lose providing that it has been 3 years since they last accumulated points. Don’t quote me on this though.

The probationary period should only be from your first test pass so you would be able to get 12 points on either vehicle before facing disqualification. Would hire a solicitor if you were ever in such a position though.

It depends, but it sounds like he just accepted the fixed penalty meaning the case did not go to court. He was not allowed to drive because he was a new driver who received 6 points on his license from accepting the fixed penalty. Therefore the length of the "ban" was however long it took him to get his provisional and pass his theory and practical tests again. If he did go to court, then it is unlikely the court would take into account his age when sentencing him.
I just got caught 53 in a 30 on the wrong side of the road as i realised their was a camera and tried to avoid it, i got the letter asking who was the driving just waiting for my punishment letter, the stress rn is unreal waiting to lose my licnese but I messed up and have to pay the concenquenses

I got 6 points on my scooter cause I was swerving on the wrong side of the road police try stop me I stupidly thought I can beat them on a scooter. They was pretty understanding I was young and dumb and didn’t take my scooter but I got a 300 pound fine like 2 weeks after. The thing is I want to get a car in the future but the scooters what makes me money get to gym quicker it basically holds my shopping get me to work early even tho I leave later than I should. But if I get caught on it again it might raise up to 12 points I already have 6 it’s not like I’m just riding for fun it makes my life easier but I don’t want to be on a scooter forever I’m 20 I want to drive in like 2 years after my ban up

I was done for having no insurance a day after I bought a car (cheap 2nd hand). I was just sitting and they stopped and did checks. It’s the first driving offence I’ve ever done so I was hoping instead of the £300 fine and 6 points which will get my license revoked, they’d offer me the driver retraining course thingy that’s mentioned on the back of the long note they give you. The letter arrived only 2 days after the night I got stopped and I need to pay the £300 in full and hand in my license for endorsement of 6 points within the next 28 days :( so I’m gonna have to start again from scratch. It ain’t worth the risk

Yeah it was pretty stupid what you did back then but you were young and stupid. At least you learnt your lesson. I got caught once doing 80 in a 40mph racing got sent to court. I got lucky I walked in with no lawyer I got a 2 week ban (yes I do mean 2 weeks lol) and £260 fine. Longest 2 weeks of my life. Not saying I’m an angel driver but I stay away from Sunday night racing so I’ve become more sensible

Lol i got caught doing 70 on a 40mph road on Christmas eve. i have never been so apologetic in my life, was told to expect a letter to summon me to court within 6 months but thankfully nothing came through. still the worst Christmas i ever had and longest 6 months of my life. Coming in from work and seeing a letter by the door was so depressing for 6months

I got a quote from direct line online. No clue how it was that price. Churchill was quoting me £1600 at the time. You just got to shop around and call them up if you can knock a bit off the price. This years one is £900, so it has gone up but not much.

First year I pay 1.2k on a 1.2 corsa and that's decent considering i have mates paying nearly double that on the same type of cars
look my friend. You are making a video on the move! You are using one hand to steer the car. Despite your obvious inexperience and lack of judgement you have learned nothing. Despite this I do feel that the points system is out of date. Many professional drivers are totted up through minor infringements , The punishments far outweigh the crime. Get rid of points for minor speed infringements and increase the fines incrementally. IE The fine climbs with each offence within a three year period. also collect the fines through the car tax system, If fine not paid then car cannot be taxed or mot. Totting up on points for minor SP30 offences can put someone out of work. Driving around making a pointless You Tube video using one hand to steer however seems to be ok! Insurance for young drivers is high for one reason ! You guys have accidents !!!! Sorry not accidents, but avoidable crashes.
