I am actually testing the MO34WQC2 and will keep doing it for the next ~2 months. It appears to be a very solid product, I simply can't find any fault. The image is perfect and there are no bugs / glitches in any given scenario, be it gaming, movies, browsing, SDR or HDR. Also no coil whine at all (many AW3423DWF and MSI 341CQP/X were reported with this issue). So far, I can only recommend it, will update this post if I'll find anything negative.
My biggest concern is brightness and white areas. Can you possibly let me know if you experience any sort of issues in that regard? I am used to an IPS screen that is fairly bright. From my experience, when your screen is completely bright (websites), these OLED panels dim the brightness completely, which as a web developer is a no-go criteria for me.
@@H0resTT fullscreen white is always a thing with oled, like they can go very bright in small spots but they dim when you display fullscreen white, also for desktop work they are not ideal since static elements can burn in over time

i got something cheaper the iiyama g-master red eagle gcb3480wqsu-b1 which was my first VA panel , pleasantly surprised i have not seen any black smearing to my eyes anyway.
No I didn't buy this, I ended on a msi meg 342c QD-OLED. Could not be happier although if you don't like the plastic stand, I understand. Build quality is great tho a little cheep looking. The screen quality is high end. But I compromise with only 175 hz
AW3423DWF can do 10 bit Colors at 165hz via custom timings for DP 1.4, the Gigabyte doesn't need that with HDMI 2.1 but the DWF still great there. The Gigabyte does have 1ms less signal processing lag by the looks of it, but not sure if it has increasing non-linear input lag like the DWF has at 120hz and below (when it reaches 60hz it has 5ms more input lag than the best possible result). Will perhaps have to wait and see Rtings results for that. This could be a great monitor for Gamers to invest into as Gen 2< panels don't benefit games much, the better Oled Care features over the DWF are noted as well.. however the "EOTF's" plus other accuracies in HDR need to be fixed, otherwise no one can recommend it.
The only way the AW3423DWF can do 165 hz 10 bit is by cancelling the pixels required for Pixel Shift (new custom res with CRU), which is pure idiocy. Top 10 bit res is 155hz or smth iirc. Tldr - the new Gigabyte walks over it from a tech point of view, however Gigabyte warranty sucks ass deeply compared to the Dell.
Nope, proven on reddit with a high framerate camera and new custom timings. How does the Gigabyte walk over it other than higher refresh rate and some extra Oled care features? The DWF has better color accuracy, in SDR particularly. The DWF has correct EOTF. The DWF has low input lag until it starts non-linearly increasing 120hz downwards. The DWF is solid with little bugs. The Gigabyte comes with a pretty low height stand though, it has a few inches on the DWF there.. but not for an extra few hundred just for 240hz and more height.
Those numbers/letters make sense. M series, oled, 34 inch, wide, "quad hd", curved, version 2. As opposed to the M34WQ from a few years ago. The naming structure is generally consistent: Series, size, and resolution with added indicators for ultrawide, curved, and now oled.
Bought this for €799 in The Netherlands, roughly the same price as the Alienware here. Very happy with my purchase as I play competitive shooters and use the KVM when working from home. No regrets :)
@@anitaremenarova6662 I love the immersion, and I also play a lot of racing games and RPGs when not playing comp. It's the perfect allrounder. There is a 1080p mode on this monitor if you want it, though.
It's crazy how the prices differ from country to country. In Germany the Alienware is on sale at 740€ (otherwise 913€) and this gigabyte is 780€.. I'm really considering buying this.
Tim, when you find these EOTF tracking deviations, do you typically reach out to the Manufacturer for clarity/comment/fixes? I'm always curious how these things get fixed. Cheers
So this monitor in Australia right now cost me $1350.00 with the Black Friday sale. The Alienware here is still $1260.00, and we basically NEVER see that thing on sale here in Oz. So for me this was an incredibly easy pick. The Gigabyte is the superior monitor; it is 240hz, and it does have excellent build quality (despite what is said here) and was well packaged and protected with a protective film over the screen etc, something I've heard from disgruntled buyers the AW does not have and people have had scratches as a result.
@Monitors Unboxed very nice review but the question remains: Did you signal to Gigabayte the issue with the HDR 1000 Peak mode ? Because its a serious one and contacting them yourself would get a much bigger effect than doing it myself, a complete no-name. If you care about oled tech and the gamming community, I think you should.
Would love to see a MPG341CQPX review now that it's in stock, at $900USD there feels like more of a question between it's 240hz (and MSI's OLED care features) and the cheaper DWF. I also wonder if those extra features are even worth bothering with. Thanks for the content!
Cant you guys make a video on OLED monitor flicker and how to reduce or eliminate it if possible while VRR is still enabled? I do find it strange how you guys dont talk about this in any of your OLED review videos. Since they're all affected by ut. Rtings brings this up in every review. And even has a video on the matter. And also an educational segment for Gsync users who are unknowingly not using it because they didnt toggle the Additional entry that comes with some Compatible monitors in the Nvidias Control Panel.
In regards of VRR Tim made two videos 7 and 6 months ago. He also talks about VRR flicker. You can’t do anything to VRR flicker yourself other than disabling and playing with a fixed refresh rate unless you don’t care about tearing. If it would be easy to eliminate then the problem wouldn’t even exist.

I saw a monitor on Amazon called the Koorui 27E3QK. Supposedly 1440p, 240hz for like 350cad. I would love to see a review of that from someone trustworthy like you guys

I just ordered MSI MPG 341CQPX for 840€ on sale. It has 98W USB-C charging and Peak 1000 mode :) I'm upgrading from Acer Predator Z301C (no HDR, VA panel with blurry motion and screwed colors, 2560x1080) so anything is going to be massive upgrade :D Well, except maybe text clarity but I'll just deal with that. For reference here in Finland MO34WQC2 is 919€ and AW3423DWF is 964€.
@@misaroorasim Normal price for the MSI is 1049€ here. That sale sealed my decision. I was also thinking of AW3225QF (1199€) but wasn't too keen on 4K for gaming. After a week of use I can say that the text really is so much blurrier on OLED than LCD. But damn the gaming experience on this is awesome.
Modern ultrawide format monitors should really be 5K right now (5120x2160), which should be overclockable to 144hz, and of course 240hz with DSC would be no problem.
@@FiveFiveZeroTwowell the fact of the matter is that the argument for 3440x1440 34” is very weak since 4k 32” has far more pixels, higher ppi, higher screen size total and is better for multiple monitor setups, and has great value. So to compete with 4k you kind of need to improve your resolution for 21:9 to keep up with 4k monitor improvements as of late.
For the UK market, this appears to be the least expensive 240Hz QD-OLED ultrawide monitor by quite a margin. I considered waiting for Black Friday or to see what else would be released, but since I don't have a monitor right now, I decided to go ahead with this. It's my first OLED monitor, and the 3-year burn-in warranty has reassured me.
So what‘s your opinion about this monitor after 2 month of use? I consider buying it as it is at least 300 Euros cheaper then any of the other 240hz QD-OLED ultrawides. Thx ✌️
I want to see tandem OLED monitor that can do 1,000 nits full screen so that we can get BFI implementations on these screens to actually leverage the motion clarity that they could produce. Imagine an OLED with 1000 HZ scan out rolling scan Ford display with CRT level motion handling
I recently picked up an MSI 341CQP 175hz UW during the sales this past week. Got it for under $700 after tax with the Microcenter deals. Glad this Gigabyte monitor wasn't in stock as I might have been tempted to pay the extra for 240hz but glad I passed considering this review. If the MSI 341CQPX 240hz was in stock during the sales I probably would have gotten that though as it's listed for $899.
How are you enjoying it so far? I mean the general experience with it. Won't ask about burn in since it's early. I could have picked it up for about 750-800 but didn't pull the trigger as I work from home a lot as well as play games.

I haven’t used it a ton because it’s basically my 2ndary monitor, still mostly using my 48” CX as main display, but for some games that I know work well with UW and high frame rate I’ll swing this display over. A couple trade offs deciding between using display port or hdmi though. When hdmi you can get 10bit but then it lists a 16:9 res 3840x2160 as an option mainly for taking 4k signal from consoles but because of that it messes with DLDSR. Also you can only update firmware over DisplayPort. I’m using DP though since apparently 8bit w dithering is very hard to tell difference to 10bit anyways and I like to use DLDSR sometimes. I will say the color fringing on some text sure is noticeable, sad that the new UW aren’t using new pixel layout.
Yeah no. If you are looking at rtings numbers. That 5000 hours of use. Means if you use it one hour a day. Even after 10 years, 3650 days. Panel was perfect, but i feared no burn in warranty. Plus warranty concerns shipping to china for a referb, or replace time. Also weak firmware support, and lengthy email replies i read on issues. 5800x3d with 4080. So 1440p preferred with high/ultra quality settings over a 4k screen. Thought? Appreciate your replies.
Seems like the panel is still 1st gen and only the controller got updated to support 240hz. My guess is, that the 34" ultrawide production line still saw high demand due to the popularity of the AW3432DWF, so Samsung just left it running and updated the 16:9 lines first.
In Germany this monitor costs 783€, which is 850$ with tax included, 715$ without taxes. In my opinion, this is a crazy deal and as an ultra wide fan it's awesome to see monitors like that to hit the market and be competitive. Obviously 1070$ is way too expensive and I hope other regions will hit this price soon as well

I've heard those sub pixel are still like the 1st gen, which pushes me to get an oled g9 during prime day for $1140 CAD😂 The oled g9 got newer sub pixel, also 240hz, and cheaper than those 240hz ultra wide oled. I can't think of any reason not to get other than the size.
I've seen very little coverage of the VRR flicker issue these OLED monitors have, I noticed RTING's recently started covering this and to me its what is stopping these screens being a valid option. Is there any plans for Monitors Unboxed to include this? It's very hard to judge the real world gaming impact it has. Great review as always though, looks like a little bit of a miss of a product due to current pricing on older QD OLED's.
800R curve is downright horrible really and its too big for most gamers too, may work for arcade sim not regular games - LG needs to stop making all OLEDs for PC 800R it sucks, 1800-1500R tops

I have a question about recording gameplay with two monitors. My main monitor is a 1440p IPS panel (colorful, really smooth at 144hz refresh rate) for playing games. My second monitor is a 1080p VA panel for running OBS. Since I record the gameplay on the IPS monitor, will the recordings still have good colors even though I use the VA monitor (colors aren't as good) to see OBS? Basically, I'm wondering if the monitor showing the game (IPS) affects the recording quality more than the monitor showing OBS (VA). Thanks!
I just bought this monitor. It's an easy win vs the Alienware. Build quality is excellent and it's 240hz. Don't shoot yourself in the foot because of this video, he's wrong on this one. The monitor is fantastic and the Alienware is also, but it is an aging product.
I am waiting for 40-inch ultrawide QD OLED gaming monitors with a resolution of 5120x2160 at 144Hz. Hopefully, they will start hitting the market in 2025 and overcome the limitations of current QD OLED monitors.
Thank you for explaining how you choose monitors for review in your earlier QA video, but I will still leave request for two monitors. Xiaomi g pro 27i is only $276 in China and $385 where I live. Its a 2K 180 Hz monitor with 1,152 Mini LED local dimming zones that help it achieve 1,000 nits peak brightness and VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certification!!!!!!! Sounds unreal for the price. And again, requesting a review of Samsung 32" Odyssey OLED G80SD and how it compares to LG WOLED with it's matt display. Please please!!!
Mini LED is dead, the costs don't make sense anymore because any respectable zone count costs will never fall (at least 2000 zones, for anyone that's ever seen an iPad Pro will tell you is the bare minimum). OLED has fallen too much in cost for LCD's to ever supercede it in any respectable performance for monitors used in any setting where some light control is possible.
@@JayJayYUP Nah. OLEDs will never be suitable for many people's PC monitor use case, including mine. Any monitor I buy has to be suitable for both heavy desktop use AND gaming, not just the latter. I'm not going to spend my time and energy constantly babysitting and worrying about an OLED - nor am I spending a grand on a monitor JUST for gaming. As for some arbitrary zone count being the "bare minimum" for FALD, that's nonsense. It's all about the algorithm behind it. One of the best Mini LED monitors on the market when it comes to local dimming is the AOC Q27G3XMN, which has just 336 zones, yet outperforms something like the Samsung Odyssey Neo G7 and its 1196 zones, with less blooming AND less black crush.

But I wasn't talking about LCD's, I was specifically saying MiniLED monitors will not be getting anymore proper advancements because the market isn't there (consumers simply refuse to pay, and if you want proof of this, check out Asus's older MiniLED monitors that are years old now, yet cost more than these 'flagship OLED's'). You have also demonstrated why MiniLED is dead in the water with statements like "I'm not spending 1 grand for just a gaming monitor". Gaming is basically some of the most demanding set of users, and deluded on top of it. The sort of specs engineering teams need to fulfill to meet gamer desires doesn't make sense when they can peddle things like TV's that make much more money, are less demanding in terms of stringent requirements, and do it in quicker turn around. You think a gaming oriented monitor needs to be cheap? When in fact engineering excellent gaming displays (that do things which deluded gamers think they're entitled to now like proper HDR, high refresh rate, and at pixel densities they want, while also costing less than comparable televisions), are all displays that ought to cost more than this silly $1k you think you're unfairly overpaying for. The final delusion, is your over-reliance on software somehow making up for lack of hardware. I have the iPad Pro I just referenced, and it blows every single miniLED display I've come across. Yet even with it's 2K zone count, blooming is STILL a problem. We need more zones than that. The fact that you're saying 300 zone count display does better than a 1000 zone count display, does nothing for the fact that all consumer miniLEDs in existence today are just subpar experiences. You speak with all the hallmarks of someone who simply is inexperienced, and hasn't done any reflection about the breadth of topics you raised. It's fine, and it's typical that most people are like this. I'm not an engineer, nor a development expert either so I don't pretend to be far off from you. But you need to really do more thinking about the sorts of claims you make, and especially thinking they're some sort of reasonable notions in the scope of the display industry.

As companies (and reviewers) are starting to focus more on OLED panels, I still hope to see reviews on newer non OLED monitors too. The Lenovo Legion R45w-30 seems to be a decent pick for ultrawides, but reviews are scarce at best, unfortunately, so it's hard to make a purchase without proper knowledge. Most of us plan to use a single monitor for more than 5 years, so OLEDs still have a long way to go in terms of reliability to reach such demands without the typical babysitting.

@@BigBoy-ql5rn yup could not agree more, while LCD and TN/VA panels can get burn in, people forget these typically dont show for 4+ years anyway and if they do its in limited sections. OLED is simply a ticking time bomb regardless. will it last 2 years or will it last 3 years or will it last within your warranty period. I expect any monitor to last 4 years minimum before exhibiting any issues or minor problems and OLED depending on the panel dont even last 2 years. they also over time lose HDR performance due to OLED pixels degrading in overall brightness (something no one likes to mention) so while OLED might be good day 1, come that 4 year mark (assuming you dont have burn in) chances are your losing out on HDR performance or maybe even potential color accurarcy

Half a second. 😉 The issue is: when does burn-in start to become annoying (or when does the "panel refresh cycle" wear down the _whole_ panel so much that you lose all the initial advantages of OLED)?

I’m not a fan of curved screens for two reasons. 1/ They serve as an acoustic focus of nasty resonances that no one wants if they’re using their ears. If I see one in a recording studio, I hang my jacket on it. 2/ Much of my work depends on geometric accuracy. CAD, sound and picture editing, presentation creation, pretty much everything I do with a computer. In fact, who do these things serve? Gamers, I guess.

Hi there. I’m in the same boat. I initially considered the AW3423DWF, but then I turned to the MSI MAG 341CQP mainly because of its KVM feature. Now, though, I think I’ll go for the MO34WQC2. It’s getting some very good reviews but somehow flies under the radar. The difference between the older and newer panels is small, but since the price is about the same, I may as well choose the newer model.

@@sammyflinders I agree 100%! I went with this model as well. I also saw someone complaining about the build quality and saying it looked cheap. I ordered it expecting cheap plastic and mediocre construction, but it turned out to be neither. The build quality and design are very much in line with IIyama's style-business-like and conservative. The design is simple, but clean. I actually love how it looks because it's minimalistic and stylish. I do have two complaints, though. First, the software is complete garbage. Second, the stand is awful. I'm using a VESA mount on the wall, but the stand that comes with it looks like a leg ripped off a Transformer-ugly and huge. But apart from that, this is an amazing monitor, and the KVM function is a lifesaver if you work from home.
I wish anyone would include how long it takes for the monitor to wake up from standby. I have an Iijama 34 inch ultrawide and it takes 6 whole seconds to wake from sleep, and sometimes it loses connection (and sometimes it doesn't) and it takes another 6 seconds to wake up again.. meanwhile my little LG secondary display wakes up immediately and never loses connection. It's a major gripe with this 34 inch display that I wish was measured in monitor reviews. I also I read that this display when it wakes from sleep it goes back to 60hz and you have to manually set it back to 240hz.. that would be a dealbreaker for me since this is supposed to be a premium monitor
MO34WQC2 EK is 830 Eur now, but I might wait for others as I would like to get that text update as I will try to use qd-oled for work and gaming. Maybe AW will release and update to AW3423DWF.

The DWF has better color accuracy, in SDR particularly. The DWF has correct EOTF. The DWF has low input lag until it starts non-linearly increasing 120hz downwards. The DWF is solid with little bugs. The Gigabyte comes with a pretty low height stand though, it has a few inches on the DWF there.. but not for an extra few hundred just for 240hz and more height.

Those numbers/letters make sense. M series, oled, 34 inch, wide, "quad hd", curved, version 2. As opposed to the M34WQ from a few years ago. The naming structure is generally consistent: Series, size, and resolution with added indicators for ultrawide, curved, and now oled.
Bought this for €799 in The Netherlands, roughly the same price as the Alienware here. Very happy with my purchase as I play competitive shooters and use the KVM when working from home. No regrets :)

So this monitor in Australia right now cost me $1350.00 with the Black Friday sale. The Alienware here is still $1260.00, and we basically NEVER see that thing on sale here in Oz.
So for me this was an incredibly easy pick. The Gigabyte is the superior monitor; it is 240hz, and it does have excellent build quality (despite what is said here) and was well packaged and protected with a protective film over the screen etc, something I've heard from disgruntled buyers the AW does not have and people have had scratches as a result.
@Monitors Unboxed very nice review but the question remains: Did you signal to Gigabayte the issue with the HDR 1000 Peak mode ? Because its a serious one and contacting them yourself would get a much bigger effect than doing it myself, a complete no-name. If you care about oled tech and the gamming community, I think you should.

Cant you guys make a video on OLED monitor flicker and how to reduce or eliminate it if possible while VRR is still enabled? I do find it strange how you guys dont talk about this in any of your OLED review videos. Since they're all affected by ut. Rtings brings this up in every review. And even has a video on the matter.
And also an educational segment for Gsync users who are unknowingly not using it because they didnt toggle the Additional entry that comes with some Compatible monitors in the Nvidias Control Panel.
In regards of VRR Tim made two videos 7 and 6 months ago. He also talks about VRR flicker. You can’t do anything to VRR flicker yourself other than disabling and playing with a fixed refresh rate unless you don’t care about tearing. If it would be easy to eliminate then the problem wouldn’t even exist.

I just ordered MSI MPG 341CQPX for 840€ on sale. It has 98W USB-C charging and Peak 1000 mode :) I'm upgrading from Acer Predator Z301C (no HDR, VA panel with blurry motion and screwed colors, 2560x1080) so anything is going to be massive upgrade :D Well, except maybe text clarity but I'll just deal with that.
For reference here in Finland MO34WQC2 is 919€ and AW3423DWF is 964€.

After a week of use I can say that the text really is so much blurrier on OLED than LCD. But damn the gaming experience on this is awesome.

Modern ultrawide format monitors should really be 5K right now (5120x2160), which should be overclockable to 144hz, and of course 240hz with DSC would be no problem.
They really shouldn't.. Having a 5K option next to a 3440px option would certainly be nice though.
@@FiveFiveZeroTwowell the fact of the matter is that the argument for 3440x1440 34” is very weak since 4k 32” has far more pixels, higher ppi, higher screen size total and is better for multiple monitor setups, and has great value.
So to compete with 4k you kind of need to improve your resolution for 21:9 to keep up with 4k monitor improvements as of late.

For the UK market, this appears to be the least expensive 240Hz QD-OLED ultrawide monitor by quite a margin. I considered waiting for Black Friday or to see what else would be released, but since I don't have a monitor right now, I decided to go ahead with this. It's my first OLED monitor, and the 3-year burn-in warranty has reassured me.
So what‘s your opinion about this monitor after 2 month of use? I consider buying it as it is at least 300 Euros cheaper then any of the other 240hz QD-OLED ultrawides. Thx ✌️

I want to see tandem OLED monitor that can do 1,000 nits full screen so that we can get BFI implementations on these screens to actually leverage the motion clarity that they could produce. Imagine an OLED with 1000 HZ scan out rolling scan Ford display with CRT level motion handling
I recently picked up an MSI 341CQP 175hz UW during the sales this past week. Got it for under $700 after tax with the Microcenter deals. Glad this Gigabyte monitor wasn't in stock as I might have been tempted to pay the extra for 240hz but glad I passed considering this review. If the MSI 341CQPX 240hz was in stock during the sales I probably would have gotten that though as it's listed for $899.
How are you enjoying it so far? I mean the general experience with it. Won't ask about burn in since it's early. I could have picked it up for about 750-800 but didn't pull the trigger as I work from home a lot as well as play games.

I haven’t used it a ton because it’s basically my 2ndary monitor, still mostly using my 48” CX as main display, but for some games that I know work well with UW and high frame rate I’ll swing this display over. A couple trade offs deciding between using display port or hdmi though. When hdmi you can get 10bit but then it lists a 16:9 res 3840x2160 as an option mainly for taking 4k signal from consoles but because of that it messes with DLDSR. Also you can only update firmware over DisplayPort. I’m using DP though since apparently 8bit w dithering is very hard to tell difference to 10bit anyways and I like to use DLDSR sometimes. I will say the color fringing on some text sure is noticeable, sad that the new UW aren’t using new pixel layout.
The Alienware ultrawide QD-OLED DWF is still one of the best out there and at an incredible price.

Once again MU with a stellar review. Thoughts for chat. Get an oled now, or wait for 2025 Q1? I tested the KTC G27P6 was blown away coming from a dell s2716dg. Panel was perfect, but i feared no burn in warranty. Plus warranty concerns shipping to china for a referb, or replace time. Also weak firmware support, and lengthy email replies i read on issues. 5800x3d with 4080. So 1440p preferred with high/ultra quality settings over a 4k screen. Thought? Appreciate your replies.
Seems like the panel is still 1st gen and only the controller got updated to support 240hz. My guess is, that the 34" ultrawide production line still saw high demand due to the popularity of the AW3432DWF, so Samsung just left it running and updated the 16:9 lines first.
In Germany this monitor costs 783€, which is 850$ with tax included, 715$ without taxes. In my opinion, this is a crazy deal and as an ultra wide fan it's awesome to see monitors like that to hit the market and be competitive. Obviously 1070$ is way too expensive and I hope other regions will hit this price soon as well

The oled g9 got newer sub pixel, also 240hz, and cheaper than those 240hz ultra wide oled. I can't think of any reason not to get other than the size.
I've seen very little coverage of the VRR flicker issue these OLED monitors have, I noticed RTING's recently started covering this and to me its what is stopping these screens being a valid option. Is there any plans for Monitors Unboxed to include this? It's very hard to judge the real world gaming impact it has. Great review as always though, looks like a little bit of a miss of a product due to current pricing on older QD OLED's.

At the price Gigabyte is selling, you are moving into 4K QD OLED 240hz pricing and that is a pretty hard sale since MSI 321UPX is around 900 bucks.

I have a question about recording gameplay with two monitors. My main monitor is a 1440p IPS panel (colorful, really smooth at 144hz refresh rate) for playing games. My second monitor is a 1080p VA panel for running OBS.
Since I record the gameplay on the IPS monitor, will the recordings still have good colors even though I use the VA monitor (colors aren't as good) to see OBS? Basically, I'm wondering if the monitor showing the game (IPS) affects the recording quality more than the monitor showing OBS (VA).

I just bought this monitor. It's an easy win vs the Alienware. Build quality is excellent and it's 240hz. Don't shoot yourself in the foot because of this video, he's wrong on this one. The monitor is fantastic and the Alienware is also, but it is an aging product.

I am waiting for 40-inch ultrawide QD OLED gaming monitors with a resolution of 5120x2160 at 144Hz. Hopefully, they will start hitting the market in 2025 and overcome the limitations of current QD OLED monitors.

Its a 2K 180 Hz monitor with 1,152 Mini LED local dimming zones that help it achieve 1,000 nits peak brightness and VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certification!!!!!!! Sounds unreal for the price. And again, requesting a review of Samsung 32" Odyssey OLED G80SD and how it compares to LG WOLED with it's matt display. Please please!!!

Mini LED is dead, the costs don't make sense anymore because any respectable zone count costs will never fall (at least 2000 zones, for anyone that's ever seen an iPad Pro will tell you is the bare minimum). OLED has fallen too much in cost for LCD's to ever supercede it in any respectable performance for monitors used in any setting where some light control is possible.

@@JayJayYUP Nah. OLEDs will never be suitable for many people's PC monitor use case, including mine. Any monitor I buy has to be suitable for both heavy desktop use AND gaming, not just the latter. I'm not going to spend my time and energy constantly babysitting and worrying about an OLED - nor am I spending a grand on a monitor JUST for gaming. As for some arbitrary zone count being the "bare minimum" for FALD, that's nonsense. It's all about the algorithm behind it. One of the best Mini LED monitors on the market when it comes to local dimming is the AOC Q27G3XMN, which has just 336 zones, yet outperforms something like the Samsung Odyssey Neo G7 and its 1196 zones, with less blooming AND less black crush.

But I wasn't talking about LCD's, I was specifically saying MiniLED monitors will not be getting anymore proper advancements because the market isn't there (consumers simply refuse to pay, and if you want proof of this, check out Asus's older MiniLED monitors that are years old now, yet cost more than these 'flagship OLED's').
You have also demonstrated why MiniLED is dead in the water with statements like "I'm not spending 1 grand for just a gaming monitor". Gaming is basically some of the most demanding set of users, and deluded on top of it. The sort of specs engineering teams need to fulfill to meet gamer desires doesn't make sense when they can peddle things like TV's that make much more money, are less demanding in terms of stringent requirements, and do it in quicker turn around. You think a gaming oriented monitor needs to be cheap? When in fact engineering excellent gaming displays (that do things which deluded gamers think they're entitled to now like proper HDR, high refresh rate, and at pixel densities they want, while also costing less than comparable televisions), are all displays that ought to cost more than this silly $1k you think you're unfairly overpaying for.
The final delusion, is your over-reliance on software somehow making up for lack of hardware. I have the iPad Pro I just referenced, and it blows every single miniLED display I've come across. Yet even with it's 2K zone count, blooming is STILL a problem. We need more zones than that. The fact that you're saying 300 zone count display does better than a 1000 zone count display, does nothing for the fact that all consumer miniLEDs in existence today are just subpar experiences.
You speak with all the hallmarks of someone who simply is inexperienced, and hasn't done any reflection about the breadth of topics you raised. It's fine, and it's typical that most people are like this. I'm not an engineer, nor a development expert either so I don't pretend to be far off from you. But you need to really do more thinking about the sorts of claims you make, and especially thinking they're some sort of reasonable notions in the scope of the display industry.
We need the same in a QD oled ultrawide 39/40 " 3840x1600 version !!

As companies (and reviewers) are starting to focus more on OLED panels, I still hope to see reviews on newer non OLED monitors too. The Lenovo Legion R45w-30 seems to be a decent pick for ultrawides, but reviews are scarce at best, unfortunately, so it's hard to make a purchase without proper knowledge. Most of us plan to use a single monitor for more than 5 years, so OLEDs still have a long way to go in terms of reliability to reach such demands without the typical babysitting.
If your goal is more than 5 years "no chance" of burn in, you'll simply literally never own one. Just buy one, get a 5 year warranty and enjoy :)

OLED is simply a ticking time bomb regardless. will it last 2 years or will it last 3 years or will it last within your warranty period. I expect any monitor to last 4 years minimum before exhibiting any issues or minor problems and OLED depending on the panel dont even last 2 years. they also over time lose HDR performance due to OLED pixels degrading in overall brightness (something no one likes to mention) so while OLED might be good day 1, come that 4 year mark (assuming you dont have burn in) chances are your losing out on HDR performance or maybe even potential color accurarcy

Most monitors now come with a warranty that covers burn in. If I'm not mistaken, DELL has a warranty for three years.

I’m not a fan of curved screens for two reasons.
1/ They serve as an acoustic focus of nasty resonances that no one wants if they’re using their ears. If I see one in a recording studio, I hang my jacket on it.
2/ Much of my work depends on geometric accuracy. CAD, sound and picture editing, presentation creation, pretty much everything I do with a computer.
In fact, who do these things serve? Gamers, I guess.

MO34WQC2 wenn der einfach mal nen ordentlichen 1000nits modus hätte . könnte man sich den problemlos holen. ich hoffe ja auf software updates. ich denke ich warte noch 1 bis 2 monate.

How can you quickly tell if the panel is 1st gen or later? Its not something they advertise...
Currently, in my country, the Alienware AW3423DWF is priced at 746 euros, while the MO34WQC2 is available for slightly less at 729 euros. Both monitors come with a 3-year burn-in warranty. Given this situation, which monitor would you recommend I purchase? Thank you! I currently run a 4070 Ti.
Hi there. I’m in the same boat. I initially considered the AW3423DWF, but then I turned to the MSI MAG 341CQP mainly because of its KVM feature. Now, though, I think I’ll go for the MO34WQC2. It’s getting some very good reviews but somehow flies under the radar. The difference between the older and newer panels is small, but since the price is about the same, I may as well choose the newer model.
@@allidsarebusy I got my MO34WQC2 and have used it for almost 100 hours, aside from the lack of HDR Peak 1000 mode and DLDSR, it’s been an excellent choice overall. I'm quite pleased with it. Tom's Hardware also released a review on it yesterday.
So this monitor in Australia right now cost me $1350.00 with the Black Friday sale. The Alienware here is still $1260.00, and we basically NEVER see that thing on sale here in Oz.
So for me this was an incredibly easy pick. The Gigabyte is the superior monitor; it is 240hz, and it does have excellent build quality (despite what is said here) and was well packaged and protected with a protective film over the screen etc, something I've heard from disgruntled buyers the AW does not have and people have had scratches as a result.
@@sammyflinders I agree 100%! I went with this model as well. I also saw someone complaining about the build quality and saying it looked cheap. I ordered it expecting cheap plastic and mediocre construction, but it turned out to be neither. The build quality and design are very much in line with IIyama's style-business-like and conservative. The design is simple, but clean. I actually love how it looks because it's minimalistic and stylish.
I do have two complaints, though. First, the software is complete garbage. Second, the stand is awful. I'm using a VESA mount on the wall, but the stand that comes with it looks like a leg ripped off a Transformer-ugly and huge.
But apart from that, this is an amazing monitor, and the KVM function is a lifesaver if you work from home.
I wish anyone would include how long it takes for the monitor to wake up from standby. I have an Iijama 34 inch ultrawide and it takes 6 whole seconds to wake from sleep, and sometimes it loses connection (and sometimes it doesn't) and it takes another 6 seconds to wake up again.. meanwhile my little LG secondary display wakes up immediately and never loses connection.
It's a major gripe with this 34 inch display that I wish was measured in monitor reviews.
I also I read that this display when it wakes from sleep it goes back to 60hz and you have to manually set it back to 240hz.. that would be a dealbreaker for me since this is supposed to be a premium monitor
MO34WQC2 EK is 830 Eur now, but I might wait for others as I would like to get that text update as I will try to use qd-oled for work and gaming. Maybe AW will release and update to AW3423DWF.
Man I feel you. Been eyeing an update as I have a Dell UW work monitor, which is great, but only 60hz, no HDR etc.
