Thoguht it was worth noting that with Focused Fire, Abyss Defiant fires slower than the Vanquisher, yet deals less damage in PvP than the Vanquisher. If you're gonna use it in PvP. use Hip Fire
***** true.. faster fire rate makes this weapon better at crota encounter. more damage in less time.
Exotic Weapon Idea:
Name: Sidekick
Description: He's got your back.
Weapon Type: Hand Cannon.
Void damage, equipped in special slot.
Exotic Perk: Support- If at 10% health and you pull out this gun, regenerate health extremely fast.
Still working on other perks and such.
I like the idea of a special slot hand cannon. I think it would be cool if instead of healing you fast when you're low on health (because that promotes slow gameplay, running and hidding) if it instead gave you a damage buff when you are low on health, like the RTSR from dark souls if you have played it. Also, I think it is a requirement for it to have a perk that makes switching to the weapon really fast (like single point sling)
Shane Clough Yeah I like the single point sling idea. Also the damage buff would be useful for PVP when in those tough situations. When I meant the regeneration though, I meant like really fast. It would like regenerate all health in about a second, though that would be pretty OP.
Ya with health regen it would be another broken bitch gun no offense I like everything else the weapon buff sounds cool
***** Yeah I agree, I like the "buff at low health" though. I like Shane's idea of the damage increase, so I might use that.
"Pssst... Hey, you. Turn around. Look! He's got your back!"
You didn't even mention about these weapons in PvP, Oversoul Edict and Word of Crota are brilliant in PvP
It's amazing how much destiny has changed over the years. I chuckled when he said that low impact weapons were terrible. Little did you know datto, little did you know...
Please do an In-Depth Vid about Explosive, High Caliber, and AP Rounds please. It would really help A LOT!
Nice whit the sarcasm in the good/bad columns nice review too. Keep up the good work
5:35 I actually used Atheon's Epilogue as my go to weapon for everything ever, except for longer range engagements, I only recently stopped because there are higher attack value things out there now, and I still use it a fair amount of the time.
After all the destiny channels I've watched, (more console, Dpj etc) yours is the best one
Nice video Datto. I want fang of Ir Yut so bad!
I don't know about everyone else, but I LOVE Oversoul Edict for any and all Hive encounters, for these reasons:
-Still one precision shot on ads
-Anti Knight, SOO anti Knight
-Mows down those pesky hordes of Thrall
-Very large mag count of 42 when one has the field scout perk equipped (which you should because the recoil is great without it)
-allows you to have a secondary focused entirely on Wizards (solar)
-if the activity has Fallen too, then hey guess what, you're already doing arc damage, why not use it on the Captains too?!
I just think it makes things that much more convenient and efficient :)
It's a total monster in PvP as well
Meme Kingkong That's true,i don't know how datto hates Pulse Rifles, there awesome!!They are a combination of ARs and SRs....personally i think Oversoul Edict its awesome in both PvE and PvP.
While I agree that the OE is a awesome pulse rifle, and the negative given to it from Datto are just him hating it for the reason that it not the best Crota gun is because its a Pulse rifle. Pulse Rifles need a buff bad and its the only thing holding this gun and other guns back, thats why i fine with him putting pulse rifle as a con because it is, but things like the auto fire is crap when that is what makes it a beast in PVP.
Rogue Cheney What buff do you think pulse rifles need? I love them as much as any other primary!
iChronicler Its not about liking them its about compared to other weapons they are lacking and you can do better in PVP and do more damage in PVE with the other weapon types. Personally I think they just need a Damage boost so they are not super weak. Also maybe give them more stability and more shots per burst. They have nothing compared to other weapons to choose them over the other, If i want high impacted and range Id use a Hand cannon or Scout rifle and if I need a fast mid to close weapon Ill use a Auto Rifle. :/
Exotic weapon idea) Silver Epiphany main bonus grants extra glimmer on precision kills (basically black wax idol etc all the time) and Shadow Window perk allows chance for bullets to go threw shields and do direct damage. This gun would be a medium scoped scout rifle with high impact low fire rate and clip would be 17 shots
the last point on the nechrocasm bad side was pretty funny :P
Datto should do a Necrochasm rant video. I'd enjoy it.
Great review thanks!
I don't have Necrochasm yet, but I have used Eidolon Ally extensively. The main drawback is magazine size- even the effective range is decent once you have Aggressive Ballistics and Fitted Stock. Personally, I'd like to see High Caliber Rounds as an option instead of Single Point Sling. Past that, it has good TTK in the Crucible.
I look forwards to owning it, so I can give a better analysis past my initial impressions.
Great video Datto
All I wanted was the Word of Crota but after seeing this video I realise just how fucking lucky I am to have three Fangs of Ir Yut. Cheers for the review Datto
Don't be so quick to write off the WoC; people seem to vastly underestimate its crazy rate of fire, and this review makes it seem as if WoC does not one-shot trash mobs...which it does, at least with critical hits (although with handcannons, you -should- be landing those precision shots).
I was a bit disappointed with it when I first got it, but after giving it a week or so it quickly grew on me. This thing is amazing.
I'm wondering what your opinion is on Oversoul Edict after the 1.1.1 update. I find it to be an absolute tank in both PvE and PvP now.
Hey datto, could you do another class comparison video now that you have used all classes and sub classes
I agree with you on everything but the abyss defiant. I use it as my everything go-to and it works just fine. Albeit it is a bit more underpowered than the scout rifle but i think both can work just fine (again my opinion)
You should do a comparison of the necrocasham and the vex mythoclass
I have every weapon from this raid except the edict, of which I am certain won't influence my decision to exclusively operate by the 'fang of ir yut' in my arsenal.
can you make a video explaining sights and stickyness?
@Ben Kloppenburg Very true I've been having a blast with it.
Hey datto... I was just watching some of Ur old vids and commentary u called a lot of stuff that was going to happen to destiny before it came out. U should maybe make a vid reviewing ur old vids and what destiny was like before it's release.
Hey Datto, what do you think about the Red Death? I just got it from Crota.
P.S Great video, I really like the Fang. Greats from Germany :)
baby suros, baby mida, baby icebreaker, baby gjallhorn baby plan c and the rest just suck
yep just there fuck the word of crota i still prefer my fatebringer
DarkPiggies lol i was saying that the raid primaries were baby versions of the exotics. The ones i mentioned either have the same perks or are similar enough to be decent replacements
u forgot
Truth
Hawkmoon
Last Word
thorn
Patience and Time
Red Death (Maybe)
And a couple of legendaries
Fire Power do you not read?
MURICA. F**k Yea read what
oversoul edict after patch 1.1.1 makes it the best raid weapon by quite some distance. it is REALLY good now
@iChronicler I agree with you mate, it really is a great weapon Espically after the pulse rifle buff. I'm putting in alot of work with it.
How does the oversouls edict compare to the timepiece? It looks pretty much like the same weapon besides the perks.
What is the highest stat roll you can get in destiny?
Great Video!
How to improve the Necrochasm:
- Make the Cursed Thrall explosion much bigger.
- Enemies that are damaged by the Cursed Thrall explosion have weight of darkness x10 added to them for a few seconds.
- Rangefinder can be replaced by a new perk called Necrochasm, which heals you equivalent to the damage dealt to the enemy with each round AND charges your super with a chance of completely restoring your health per kill (Similar to the Monte Carlo Method).
- Make this weapons kick close to completely linear.
- Increase the damage so it actually feels like it can drop enemies at a relatively fast rate.
If these improvements were made THEN we might have an interesting Exotic. Until then, No Land Beyond is better then this junk.
I really like those ideas, especially damage gives weight of darkness, but if you put all of those on then the gun would be severely op
that's incredibly op lol
Yep, Necrokasum needs a buff being as its like Atheon's Epilogue. I'll take the Vex Mythlcase over that gun unless they make it better which I highly doubt they'll buff it the way they want to delay things
Oversoul Edict is going to be a beast after the 1.1.1 patch!
Do they still need radiant materials to upgrade ?
If this raid comes back in D2 im cared what they will do with the weapons if they'll be any good like in d1
I hope the next raid weapons are better
I actually realy like epilogue. I get that it dosent have as much utility but it can maintain good damage with the stability bonuses, assuming you are accurate
Time to start farming these
8 years layer
I use Unwilling Soul -09 (High ROF/Low Impact) & in PvE It rips every thing to shreds. (Yes, Everything) Its really great with its Field Scout. (Mag Caps at 84, Reserves cap out 999)
I only have word and abyss but i like them both(they have all the upgrades but not 331 attack)
I actually like the oversoul edict
It would've been cool if the Necrochasm fires slower as it gets upgraded, it could also have a deeper sound.
I love the tag at the end of the bad perks for necrochasm "How Bungie should feel about this weapon"
can you get fang of ir yut on crotas end normal
Generally agree but you are wrong about the Abyss Defiant, its a complete beast and I use it constantly. Its basically a legendary Suros Regime freeing you up for IB or Jellyhorn!
Why dont u do a vanquisher viii review?
I think we liked Vision of confluence because it was full auto with an extended mag of 27
Dude there is the light of abyss its just as good or even better I would choose this gun anyday over plan c because high charge rate arc damage damage331 and it does not take up an exotic slot
Thanks
I have them all. Including the shitcrocasm. None of them have replaced my fatebringer. Which is sad. WOC will be my void burn nightfall weapons and vog primary, and I like abyss defiant for the deathsinger fight, but beyond that, all hail the fatebringer.
Datto the more shots u land the higher the damage gets as u go through the mag. I thought that was a good buff as soon as i saw the perks on necrochasm guess we think alike
i personally think that VoG weapons had better perks overall because the perks worked well with the gun's stats and with each other
DattoDoesDestiny once (I believe on a podcast) you were talking about a site that puts you into a random clan with 100 similar people...can you remind me what that was?
Does datto never use glimmer enhancers? (whatever you call them) lol
I agree Datto
I love the oversoul it's one of the best things I use in pve and I have fate bringer
The only time i would use The word of Crota would be either a void nightfall or the black garden strike.
Some testing was done and the results were that Abyss Defiant with Focus Fire has the lowest DPS out of any legendary/exotic in the game
And honestly all the Necro needs is a mag size increase and maybe some different mods. People also don't seem to understand the high rof autos either. They're hard to control if they don't have the right perks, but pretty much all the good high end ones have those perks. Like Epilogue having persistence and if you want it, perfect balance. Even without PB, after like a second of sustained fire it turns into a laser.
Necro has good stability with fitted stock which is nice. It just has a bad mag size and some less than desirable mods. I feel like it should have feeding frenzy instead of cascade. That fits the weapon's theme better and would be more useful. Idk why they decided on rangefinder. It really should have something more suited to the weapon like glass half full, counterbalance, or persistence.
Does Datto use PS4 or XBox One?
Love the necrochasm review. the consecutive shots deal mroe damage would be awesome. Listen up bungie.
fang of ir yut, was it full auto like vision?
Sadly no
Honestly don't see why people think poorly of Pulse Rifles. Sure, I get that the impact is low and it can't even compare to Halo's BR, which was my favorite weapon along with the appearance of the DMR in Reach, but they aren't really that bad.
I've been using Oversoul Edict in PvP and PvE, and I'm getting a good K/D ratio.
I even got the Vanguard's Hissed Coil a few Nightfalls ago, and I got the perk rolls to get the stability up to 95%, and when I'm shooting that, my little red dot/aiming reticule does not move at all. It can even stand up to a Suros and The Last Word every now and then.
Because Pulse rifles right now suck compared to other weapons, they need a buff badly. But Datto was being super harsh on the OE its a really goo Pulse rifle just stinks because its a PR. lol
The Low Impact/High RoF Pulse Rifle archetype really isn't too good.
The low impact means:
•No/Nearly no stagger in PvE.
•Less damage overall.
•It takes 10,000 bullets to take out a Guardian's Shield, in PvP.
•It takes 20,000 bullets to take down any Tier 2/3 enemy.
So it has pretty much the same problem as the Auto Rifles (with Low Impact/High RoF); they're not consistent enough to use.
Rogue Cheney I can see your point when being compared to other weapons in the game such as Scouts, Handcannons, and some of the lower RoF/High Impact ARs (Shadow Price), but I still think that they're being slightly undervalued. Emphasis on the word, "slightly"
Josh White In PvE, yeah, I rarely use PRs unless I just feel like messing around. In PvP, I can down a mid-armor spec Guardian in 4 bursts with the high RoF/Low Impact such as Oversoul Edict. Usually takes 1 or 2 more bursts due to the recoil, but with the right perks, the stability stat can be nearly maxed out. And I feel like with PRs, you have to choose your fights carefully, and be more to the supporting/flanking side of fights instead of the aggressive playstyle that one would get when using something such as Suros.
Have to disagree with you on the Oversoul Edict, Datto. Although I actually prefer the Praedyth's Timepiece as it has become my Crucible go-to, opening up an exotic slot for my special or heavy. These two pulse rifles, and BadJuJu, are the only three I use. The Oversoul Edict & Praedyth's Timepiece can each take out a yellow captain in one to two clips, which in the current Archon Priest Nightfall, is almost a necessity. Together, my buddy & I can waste a yellow captain and a few minors in less than a clip each, consistently. Don't have the Fang yet, but would like to compare them! Thx for the vids!
You can get the scout from the bridge encounter ☝️
I've been finding that Field Scout is completely wasted on Fang of Ir Yut. I'm a chronic reloader (as many FPS players are) so with Field Scout on I was never getting the Spray and Play perk due to reloading too soon. I've found switching to the stagger rounds (and remembering to shoot every shot before reloading) is way better. The enemies stagger more plus I get the fast reload. This is my go-to gun in most of hard mode Crota's End simply due to its perks and damage output. Fatebringer is still the king of the Abyss, due to Firefly, but Fang of Ir Yut excels in every other part of hard mode.
you really understated the full auto not being on fang of ir yut. it does not compare as easily to vision of confluence as you make it. otherwise i did enjoy your video.
Datto I thought you of all people would know that Abyss Defiant's focus fire perk is broken, as it reduces the DPS dramatically to give AD the slowest TTK of any auto rifle in the game. As it doesn't have any problems with recoil and it has a very quick reload, it's high ROF isn't a problem anyway.
Datto I really love you but I cant cant cant disagree you. Oversoul edict is great!
Could you do a PvP live stream?
You put 'It's a pulse rifle.' at the bad section of Oversoul Edict twice.
Wow man you are such a fucking genius
Oh, I'm sure he knows. Just a part of his humor.
It's called a joke
i like oversoul edict.. never used anything but hand cannons, but i do just as good with it in raids as i do fatebringer, and it is good in pvp, not like TLW though... still haven`t lost a 1v1 with that gun.
WoC actually has one of the fastest kill times in pvp of legendary weapons, and it is very easy to use. plus its large mag and phantom gift make it so you have to reload way less then most other handcannons.
i imagine most people hating on it 1 cant aim 2 dont play pvp 3 dont realize fatebringers usefulness is limited to the abyss section on crotas end (where its outclassed by icebreaker)
Oversoul Edict is great.
So would you recommend just breaking down Oversoul Edict altogether?
That's for you to decide. If you like the weapon keep it, if you don't trash it.
Skeptical Simple enough.
Ryan Voight I have both Fang and OE, deciding to give the OE to an alt character.
I'm really sad today. The RWBY and RvB animator for Rooster Teeth just died yesterday due to a severe allergic reaction.
Well I'm confused. When I tested out my Word of Crota against my Fatebringer, the WoC was doing around 100 extra damage per shot, that wasn't including the Explosive rounds upgrade which will increase it even further. That was a WoC with zero upgrades. More powerful than a fully upgraded FB. I don't understand how everyone else is saying that it's damage is comparable to FB? I'm not making my tests up, I actually did them myself.
Also, all high ROF, low impact weapons in this game are terrible, they keep making them, but no one wants to use them.
***** All Raid primaries start with 300 damage. Impact isn't 100% the most important stat, the base damage is the most important, which is a stat that we don't see in-game, it's behind the scenes. So basically my FB and WoC are both 300 damage, with WoC having a slightly lower impact, but still deals more damage per shot than FB. (The damage stat in-game is a very very basic and almost meaningless number by the looks of it). Just like how the Fount Verdict VoG shotgun deals much more damage than the Swordbreaker shotgun from CE. Or how Fatebringer still deals significantly more damage than a fully upgraded 331 Legendary vanguard cannon.
The whole damage thing is fucking stupid and doesn't make sense, there is no way to know how much damage a weapon will do unless you actually shoot the damn thing. Why have stats if they are not 100%.
***** Well if you look closely into some of Bungie's previous patch notes from last year, they reference a 'Base damage' stat when balancing weapons. For example, the base damage stat of the Mythoclast was modified twice, once for the debuff and then again for the buff. If you paid close attention to the weapons in-game stats, nothing changed at all. So that leads me to believe there is a hidden base damage stat. Two weapons with the same damage rating, yes you would assume the higher impact would deal more damage, but as per my original comment, the lower impact gun (WoC) deals slightly higher damage.
Paul Smith Wrong , The WoC does about 10 more dmg (the number that appears above the enemy) than fatebringer with both fully upgraded (tested by numerous ppl)
FateBringer gets firefly and the superfast reload perk and this nudges it as better than WoC(course WoC all the way for void burn nightfalls)
The base 'dmg' bungie modified was the attack stat on the mytholast(it went down then got brought up to 323 maxed with the rebuff)
Course that 10 more dmg is when you crit as impact only effects crits, without crits a 333 will destroy a 300 ... course if you cant get headshots why use a handcannon? but in that case the WoC would be better ... WoC will also do better against void shields as FB will arc shields but FB is the best all round gun without a specific situation in mind
Aurora Lux For fuck sake, I am not going to re-explain everything I just said. read my comments again if you want a reply, because I am not changing anything I said.
these are the perks i think necrochasm should have:
instead of cascade have fitted stock or perfect balance
1st perk:
dealing damage to an enemy with this weapon has a chance to regenerate a portion of your health
2nd perk (choose 1 of 3):
#1: overpenetrate hive knights wall of darkness
#2: this weapon has a chance to disorient hive wizards
#3: killing an enemy with precision damage will create a cursed thrall explosion
3rd perk:
missing a shot has a 50% chance to get it back into the magazine
hive disruptor
Allow me to make some changes: keep the first perk. That one sounds great and fits with the overall theme of the weapon. The three you chose aren't perks. Therefore, they should be combined into the special perk for this weapon. That being said, have field scout as a perk to get this thing up to a 70-round magazine.
As someone who got the crux on the first try that it was possible and has used the necrochasm a lot, i can tell you that Datto is 100% correct. Low impact-high RoF AR's just suck in general and cursed thrall explosions and arc damage is the only thing that it good about it. But i think that bungie should overhaul this gun im talking make it a scout rifle and give it outlaw with cursebringer. Auto rifles in general are mediocre since the nerf. But knowing bungie, all they will do is probably wait 2 months then increase the stability a bit, then turn all their focus to the house of wolves.
HoW comes out in 38 days, five weeks from now. Theyre probably finishing up the new content now
Is there a special way to get the weapons because I've beaten everything up until crota four times and haven't gotten the pulse rifle or auto rifle at all.
You have to be on hard mode.
I know I have to be on hard mode, but I'm talking about like a special trick or something
Yeah, it's called research. ;)
No, there's no "special method." It's all down to good 'ol RNGesus.
I haven't even gotten to do the hard raid because I can't get the freaking chest price to hit 32
I love oversoul edict it wrecks face in pvp and I soloed Athlon with it and ghorn
Can't solo Atheon you dumbass
I use Payback SOS as my main Auto Rifle on my titan, and Coiled Hiss 1919 as my main Pulse Rifle on my Warlock. Both are Low Impact, High RoF, and I get the same number of kills as the rest of my fire team, and deal the same overall damage. Maybe you're just bad with them, or you see low numbers and assume "OMG IT SUUUCKS" like everyone else.
I want the fang so bad.
Need fang of ir yute like now...
We now Oversoul Edict is a pulse rifle ( yeah i also dont like them even though the game gives me them all the time ) you dont have to put it there 2 times
Other than the Black Hammer, Word and Fang, all other weapon from the raid don't live up to a raid weapon.
Except for the abysmal range, "Swordbreaker" isn't too shabby.
I went about 32/0, seriously, on a Crucible game (on that small Moon map.) With it and the Vex Mythoclast.
Admittedly, 2 enemies were A.F.K, and the others were really bad, taking corners without checking their sides and corners, not paying attention to their mini-map, retreating into a small room, when there's a Striker Titan (yours truly) chasing them, etc.
Word looks shit but fang looks pretty cool
necrochasm is bae, the doctrine of year 1 XD
Oh have times changed the pulse rifle
Anyone else think Datto and ProJared look alike?
"Word of Crota is one of those low-tier hand cannons that you'll probably be firing at the same rate you'd fire any other hand cannon."
_fires at double the rate I use hand cannons_
Disappointing raid weapons this time around. The fang of ir Yût is okay for an arc weapon but I will still roll with fatebringer over it.
Fatebringer does 1505 on equal level enemies and WoC is 1540 .... I don't get it. either way red hand/ the chance/ Venation is better
Its cause WoC has a higher attack rating which balances the damage out when compared to farebringer. So technecally WoC is better than fatebringer DPS wise.
I prefer Defiant without the FF because it lowers DPS and slower proc rate on the Wizards. Also Defiant with FF is slowest TTK in Crucible
Oversoul Edict: "It's a pulse rifle."
I lol'd xD
Every time I get a pulse rifle, I scrap it. No second thoughts. I only kept the Stranger's Rifle as a trophy :P
At the time of getting it, it's not actually half-bad.
Too bad you get it at the same time you gain access to all the good loot....
Josh White Yeah. I really wish it was a better gun, since it looks pretty cool.
My gripe with the Word of Crota is the fact that my 242 attack BLUE Regulator Mk. 56 does more damage than it at 306 attack. And it has only one less round than it. It also has explosive rounds and luck in the chamber. Kind of a disappointment for me on WoC.
at 331 it does 1540 which is more than fatebringer xD
And my Regulator does 791x2 with the explosive rounds, for a grand total of 1582 damage per shot if it's a direct impact to an equal level enemy. But the Word of Crota is significantly better than the Regulator for higher level enemies.
Oversoul Eddict doesn't quite match my expectations of what ppl say about Grasp of Malok in PvP.. They're essentially the same weapon but I don't see my pulse rifle melting anyone & often losing gunfights..
that's because it doesn't have enough stability. Grasp of malok with HLS or BF feeeelts
Yeah, this seems to be the bulk of opinions of those who have reviewed these weapons. Necro should have been a 339 arc damage Shadow Price (seemed to be most peoples favourite AR pre-Dark Below) in order to even begin to earn it's exotic class, at least in my opinion.
