Black Hammer was probably the most powerful PVE weapon of all time. The fact that is was a legendary and a special on top of everything was crazy. Still remember that Fatebringer, Black Hammer, Gjallarhorn loadout in Y1
this man literally forgot fatebringer. standard loadout 1. fatebringer 2. optional i ran mostly shotgun but was easily swapped for a scout or sniper 3. gjallarhorn
I still remember the day I got my Gjallarhorn to drop from cheesing a nightfall in D1. That moment is seared into my head. It was like winning the lotto.
I remember getting my Gjallarhorn from completing a regular (level 20) strike playlist. I couldnt believe it. I remember saying with tears in my eyes "I just got rewarded the most desired weapon in the entire game from completing a regular strike". It was so special for me because I didnt have any friends to play with, so end game activities like raids and nightfalls were impossible to be done by me. Getting Gjallarhorn is my most special Game Moment, not only because it was a rare and desired weapon by the entire comunity, but for me it was pretty much impossible to get, but the RNGods graced me.
Don't forget, the Moutain Top also had sticky nades. I would tag doors with them and let roaming supers kill themselves, or favorite on Legion's Gulch, a barricade and a MT round behind it on the catapult landing pads.
I remember Xur selling Red Death the first week of D1 but I didn’t have enough strange coins to buy it, so the second week he came I purchased the Ghorn because I was desperate for an Exotic. Week 3 came and EVERYBODY was buying the Suros Regime, I remember being so mad because I bought a stupid rocket launcher instead of the overpowered AR that took over the Crucible. A couple weeks later and I was so glad to have Ghorn, I got Vex my second clear and I enjoyed that overpowered gun for over 2 weeks.
It’s a time issue. When Beyond Light came out, Bungie updated the game’s engine, with that, according to them, they had to go over all of the areas by hand and fix/remake them. So some of the old crucible maps were taken out to save time when updating to the new engine. If they were to add them back in, it isn’t as simple as just flipping a switch, it would take a lot of effort.
@@CosmicRain144 Doubt it, which to be honest, if they kept all the DLC's, there would be simply to much content and to much story to really get into it
I am proud to have been there to experience laser tag weekend. It was cool of Bungie to add an emblem for those who did as well as another for Lord of Wolves.
I think pre-nerf black spindle/whisper of the worm probably had the highest use rate out of any of these. In most raid boss fights you're almost guaranteed to see a Divinity and it's still just a fraction of how absolutely ubiquitous Whisper was
I feel like another gun that everyone forgets about is how broken witherhoard was when it first dropped. It would end any raid boss in seconds due to a bug.
You forgot something about why suros was nerfed in D1. Its exotic perk allowed ANY hit to immediately start health regeneration. So basically suros battles turned into regeneration battles.
I remember buying GHorn when it first came out, i was so young at the time that exotics to me was extremely rare and a amazing accomplishment, Ghorn wasn't my first exotic weapon, but it was the only one I didn't regret buying to this day
To add more context to pocket infinite at it's most broken state you could've continuously fired the gun for about 12 shots it had a base mag size of 5
Ah I remember the old days of Trials of Icebreaker, genuinely one of my favorite guns of all time- behind pre-nerf Doctrine of Passing, my D1 players know what I mean.
I still remember Prometheus And LOW when they were at there peek, I honestly miss the days where we only had to worry about one gun being broken instead of the current times where we have so many one shot weapons that define a game, back then it was so much nicer, yes there were so many complaints about it but now it feels almost like it’s more meta then skill based in some games I play, I try to use other weapons and end up going 0 and 10 sometimes but as soon as I use the meta weapons I can go 20 and 4, I really do wish we could experience that time one again just so we can remember truly how much different it was then vs now
This video bring back so much memories! I love Last Word D1 version, my favorite weapon so far! I miss Fatebringer in this list, this weapon has history to tell too!
Surprised chaperone in its D2 prime wasn’t on here. And as someone who still plays D1 and has seen every meta I think Touch of Malice (for pve) and tlaloc (for pvp) definitely belong on this list to name a couple. Still fun seeing the list.
I got nervous because the only reason I watched this was for the PLens, and it rightfully got the #1 spot lmao Laser tag weekend was such an iconic time for D2, I think you should’ve mentioned that Xur sold it that weekend right before they nerfed it into the ground.
maybe a hot take: Bungie should un-nerf Trench Barrel. Nerfing it was a reaction to auto-reloading that wells provided, but having to reload it (or having to waste an additional perk like Demolitionist that only reloads when your grenade is up to get auto reloading) dramatically reduces the impact it can have.
I'm sorry but Prometheus isn't #1 on the list lol, but thank you for unlocking memories. I remember getting Gally from harpy chest in vog in d1 then getting Vex in the same raid. Crazy times and i miss them
For those of you who were fortunate enough to not experience the D1 Thorn/ Last Word PVP meta, this video does not do it justice. The Thorn was a consistent 2 tap across map, and Last Word could kill you in 10 frames FLAT. I want you to image the Dead Mans Tale PRE NERF but with Cranial Spike permanently turned on to max damage and you crank up the aim assist to max. This was also around the time where Warlocks had a firebolt grenade which dealt 50% damage and applied scorch to multiple enemies which took them down to 75% health and denied health regen. So if you managed to NOT 2 tap someone, you could tag someone with the grenade + thorn/ last word bodyshot, it would ALWAYS result in a kill no matter how high their resilience was. The worst part about it? That wasn't patched "in the next season." Nononono, seasons didn't exist back then. This was around the time where Bungie community outreach was at an all-time low and patches were ONLY done when major content drops were released, so once a year. This meta lasted over 300 days, the equivalent of FOUR to FIVE seasons.
I remember when someone in LFG thought i was lying when i was talking about how Black Spindle was able to pull ammo out from thin air from doing 3 headshots
@@Daytimeprophet3 I'm talking about year 3 season of the worthy. I hated suros too btw. Auto rifle meta was the worst ind rainy history in my opinion. Easy to use and fast ttk does no mix well
My first raid ever was an lfg carry hard mode VoG about 2 months after it came out, got truth out of the gorgon chest and then Vex to drop from atheon. You guys have never heard a fireteam so bitter.
The Prometheus lens bug was hilarious to me, literally couldn’t even play crucible without getting killed within two seconds, and then Xur sold it so literally everyone had it, fun times honestly
I remember my first raid of the vault of glass in Destiny 1 and I was the lowest light level on my team I think like 25. I ended up getting the last word from atheon and my friends were so mad that I got it since I was such low lvl. But that gun ended up being my go to for pretty much everything it felt like until the taken king dropped.
6:20 ye Revoker is the only Sniper I use And usually the only weapon I use in PvP to this day 12:00 And Icebreaker is my favorite Exotic of all time Which kinda explains why I like the Revoker so much lol
I only played D2 for a long time at ShadowKeep when MT and Recluse were King. The mountaintop grind was so long, but once I had the combo I felt like a god.
Personal take, I think mountaintop should be #1. Mythoclast and Gjallarhorn are more iconic as they were OP from the very start of the franchise, but God damn that grenade launcher is something else. It had everything you needed: High ammo capacity, great boss damage, add clear, 1 shot in PvP, high shell velocity, etc. Nothing else was really worth using for so long, and it made the game boring and trivial. It carried me through all 3 solo flawless dungeons, as well as 90% of the games PvE content to say nothing of how infuriating it was in PvP. Not only all of that, it was OP from the moment it dropped in Black Armory all the way to the release of Beyond Light, making it possibly the longest lived OP gun in the game. Truly ridiculous.
Tell me you didn't play during laser tag weekend without telling me you didn't play during laser tag weekend. Prom Lens is by far the most broken thing in Destiny history, it literally made crucible unplayable if you didn't have it and they had to make Xur sell it for that weekends trials in order to make trials even remotely fair.
ooh one thing about d1 thorn, im pretty sure it got patched at one point but if you pulled out ghost if you got two tapped it would stop the burn, ppl would two tap and run away and come back really confused as to how you did not die, iirc it worked for regular burning as well so if you were about to burn to death or were getting ticked by thorn you could pull out ghost and it would not finish damaging you. I dont think many ppl knew about that one
So the thorn part isnt totally accurate, thorn could two tap from the day 1 D1, but because of low handling, small mag and slow reload it wasnt that favorable. People would use it a game or two and vault it. Gun reviewers at the time also highlighted how difficult the quest was especially on titan or without atheon's epilogue, so many people didn't pick up on how truly insane thorn was before the buff.
I'll never forget getting the mythoclast 4 times in a row when VoG first came out in d1 and my friends despising me for it, then getting it after my second VoG run in d2. Good times.
Man, I was only ever really a COD player back in the days of D1. Even though I did play the vanilla D1 campaign, I didn't stick around for most of the rest of the games lifecycle, so seeing some of these crazy busted weapons and just how different things were back then makes me realise how much I have missed out on😞.
I think an important thing to mention with recluse is master of arms makes your body shot damage the same as headshot damage making it incredibly easy to use
What? No Sunshot?! That cannon is freaking awesome in ad clearing. One shot clears 6 or more, hell I even take out Captains when I hit the little guy net to him.
Fun fact about the Prometheus Incident, it was so brutal and chaotic that bungie manually made Xur bring it the weekend before the patch, so that more players would have a chance to experience it. In an old twab around that time.
Firebolts with touch of flame especially, although typically skilled Stormcallers had a higher skill ceiling than Sunsingers… but the firebolts and axion bolts were on a different level in crucible.
in early destiny weapons didnt effect your light level you could run 3 white weapons in trails and still be the same level. If you meant you were underleveld in general then gj
prometheus lens was so OP that they forced xur to sell it a couple of weeks after it dropped even whilst people were still grinding curse of osiris lol, definiteky deserving of the number 1
Most broken destiny guns consist of a crazy good gun that ALSO has something else it just doesn’t even need. Remove the additional effect and it’s still insane. Gjallarhorn has Wolfpack rounds, plus it can track Ace Of Spades has a better kill clip and firefly, plus radar while ads Divinity creates a crit spot with a great debuff, while also doing burst damage after a period of time Recluse could absolutely destroy people with Master Of Arms damage buff, and it could also be procced by any weapon Truth has crazy tracking, and proximity detonation Efrideet’s Spear can one shot body, plus through any wall Remove these added effects and it still dominates
Wait... Can you use Lorenz driver + gyrfalcons? IK that volatile won't be too crazy, but it'll chain invis and have a *small* explosion but Invis is already annoying as all heck
The Prometheus Lens was so broken that my brother had me play on his account as a complete noob to the game, having never played before, and carrying in crucible
I laugh that on week 2 in destiny 1 when I bought a gjhallahorn everyone thought I was dumb. I then laugh when I remember 2 weeks later he sold ice breaker and no one else bought that either.
This came across of my recommendations and all I must say is thank you for causing me a headache for seeing all of these damn guns that cause me unbelievable amounts of pain either farming it or getting smacked like rihanna in the crucible by it. Also revoker had me crying trying to solo to get it got super close but then got trashed on near the top of the metaphorical mountain
Wait, what about early days of Jötunn? It was just a special ammo D1 Truth. So long as an enemy with within your FOV to where you could see their health bar it would find them. Making turns as sharp as 70 degrees. It could one shot any guardian who was not in a bubble. Even in the warlock's wells, no matter what they ran. I have fond memories of running Nightfalls with it where the whole team would fire once at Bracus Zahn and he was dead while you waited for the elevator to get up there to get your loot.
@@JDxxxxxx Yea, back when it was a total RNG fest. Was as, if not more, difficult to get than Mythoclast. They nerfed it when they made Forges easier though. Since the tracking was way strong.

I love the amp rig in the back. I love my Mesa Mark III.
Nothing beats the Prometheus Lens Era. It was literal Laser Tag.
Touch of Malice pre blessing of light nerf in D1 was so much fun
Efrideets was crazy back in Y1 Trials lmao
The 2 great loadouts of Destiny, Fatebringer (Arc), Black Hammer and Gjallarhorn vs Mountaintop, Recluse and Anarchy
Most broken destiny guns consist of a crazy good gun that ALSO has something else it just doesn’t even need. Remove the additional effect and it’s still insane.
Gjallarhorn has Wolfpack rounds, plus it can track
Ace Of Spades has a better kill clip and firefly, plus radar while ads
Divinity creates a crit spot with a great debuff, while also doing burst damage after a period of time
Recluse could absolutely destroy people with Master Of Arms damage buff, and it could also be procced by any weapon
Truth has crazy tracking, and proximity detonation
Efrideet’s Spear can one shot body, plus through any wall
Remove these added effects and it still dominates
Got perfect balanced and counter balanced on my clever dragon in D1, man I love that as my primary
OG EP shotty was nuts, remember when it was in the heavy slot!!!
12:53 "And they'd be left with so little health that they'd just die to the dick damage"
Really it used to do that?
@@JDxxxxxx
Yea, back when it was a total RNG fest.
Was as, if not more, difficult to get than Mythoclast.
They nerfed it when they made Forges easier though. Since the tracking was way strong.
@@ryanbennett2806 really? I feel like I got it right away. Wasn’t it a quest?
@@JDxxxxxx After a while it was. At first it was RNG drop on Forge completion.
Legend was you had better options to get it when in full gear.
Was not called the Death Toaster for nothing.
@@ryanbennett2806 I remember, the Forges were hard as hell too when they got released.
I loved that iron banner pulse rifle in d1
god i miss launch dmt, it itched the exotic lever action fantasy so much. ik people hated it but we needa go back to it being a 150 from the hip
Oh this weekend of d2 would be all of the list
I have the prismatic inferno emblem. Prometheus Lens was a nightmare
universal remote in D1 was also a menace for a while
Felwinters lie sniper lol shot package and even at that same time full auto also reduced the pellet spread as well.
