They could have utilised the infinite forest concept for every lost sector with multiple tile sets and encounters. They could have added world bosses in public areas. I've said it before and will say it again. They need to do expansions for places we've been to. Imagine the ENTIRE Cosmodrome being explorable. Puzzles, bigger lost sectors, a world boss, events that happen every so often that can open up certain parts of the map depending on how players did. If anyone has played Guild Wars 2, you'll probably understand what I mean. Imagine an actual warzone. Multiple Fallen walker tanks, a baron leading captains and dregs. A mini Twilight Gap like event that can drop decent loot and can happen anywhere on the map. Makes me wish I had the ability to do game design cause a shooter like destiny where you actually fight an army with other players would be fun. Imagine going through the headquarters that's near the middle, it's filled with Fallen tech or a mini Hive burrow. once a week you and others can enter to fight for the complex. Taking on enemies that aren't boss tanky, but they don't feel like push overs. The possibilities could be endless. But that would also require them to buckle down, which at this point might be asking too much due to everything that's happened

And I didn't even KNOW there was a cave right at the start of the Exodus Crash strike until I went OOB to get there - it must have been part of vanilla D2 that went out of use before I picked the game up again after I quit D1
Yes! I discovered it about a year or two ago. Never seen it until then (playing D2 since Day 1). They could SO use that whole area for a seasonal activity. Sparrowing around to zones, doing stuff guardians do

I wish the Black Armory would come back. It was fun to farm for those weapons and armor. Also, that "lost city" behind the Tower looks more like a power plant or some other type of city infrastructure, not some lost city from the Red War.
The content vault played a major part in my lack of interest in the game. It didn’t make sense to remove content we paid for and enjoyed. It made the story hollow and empty for new players (which the game desperately needs) as well as giving veteran consumers of the game guilt, for wasting money on content just to have it stolen.
At 4:12 the runes are a mix of Younger Futhark, Elder Futhark, and Anglosaxon runes, but they're gibberish that don't say anything legible, if anyone else caught that.
Bungie needs to implement an option to allow you to decide which DLC to have installed, much like halo MCC does with its campaigns. This is content we PAID for and they’ve taken it away. They can’t keep ignoring the community forever
I saw a video made fairly recently where you can glitch through the double door in Niobe Labs exiting your sparrow like the Vault of Glass rock glitch.
From what I know, The Tor (Izanami Forge) can be glitched into, but the area itself is surrounded by a death bubble. I've seen videos of people try to access it, but so far, I haven't seen anyone get pass the death barriers. Hangman's Pass was supposably a potential landing zone and have public events. Because of how Lake of Shadows was reworked, this area is even more difficult to enter and there was a tunnel that went out the other side of the area into a new sector. Possibly a pocket of the Dark Forest or connected to the galaxy pool. It's unclear but with how many loose ends Bungie has left in the game's story, there's a lot of opportunity. Such as Lysander and the Concordat, dark age castles like in Warlord's Ruin, sectors that were "quarantined" by the Vanguard. Not to mention Shin Malphur and Aunor with their "light cults" as I call them.
It’s crazy, so much of these assets could easily become a strike or something. Just make “ascended realm” variants of the location, tie some taken lore mumbo jumbo, and boom more content. Is it lazy, yes, but it’s better than just not doing anything with it
The forges are content I would love to see brought back. They were really cool and they could update the loot pools with new perks. I don't think that's on Bungie's radar though.
The major excuse of sunsetting was because they needed to lower the game size (if they would have just moved onto Dsstiny 3 back with beyond light like originally planned that would not have been a problem) and don't get me wrong, I am not loving that the game currently is like 140GB but when they go and leave all this old seasonal content and removed stuff then the entire point of lowering the game size is kinda pointless...
That excuse has long been proven a lie. Destiny's engine is old and Tiger's (the engine name) maps are extremely low file size. One area of a patrol space is 10 mbs, and textures are reused constantly making an entire patrol space not even 700 mbs if we are talking maps alone. Bungie intentionally inflates the file size of the game by keeping things like weapon icons and textures uncompressed so they have this excuse. They removed content cause of greed. If Bungie wanted it, they could reduce D2 to being at most 60 GBs while returning all vaulted content. For reference, one weapon Icon (which is super small on screen), is around 15 mbs. WHICH IS INSANE.
@@elsienova4269 Theres no doubt it's a lie, my original comment is saying that because what's the point if they just leave old stuff in the game, I'm just saying that because that's the excuse that Bungie themselves gave back when beyond light came out lol.
I like when you do these type of videos, the did you know stuff. It’s the reason I first started following you back biting D1. You did a video on the possible Seven seraphs location on earth. Good stuff
I still visit those "wells" around Nessus for a quick kostalgia trip. Fun fact: there's a spot where you can avoid the death barrier at the volundr forge and drop down on top of the water. If you walk around the water there's a scannable under the invisible floor that you can't access but your ghost can still detect it.
This takes me back all these areas that you can still access they should put events or something that drop legendary gear I can't imagine it would take that much effort especially those that weren't used for hardly anything and they were completely new areas and they still exist I wish Bungie would allow all the strikes from Destiny 1 and 2 all of them to be a playlist
I am still trying to glitch into Hangmans pass lol loved that place. Used to love glitching around on Titan and getting a closer look at the docked fleet
Its insane to me how many spaces they make just for seasonal purposes just to throw away and never even build strikes on. Bungie was different in D1. Those fellas used EVERYTHING.
I think there is a heroic patrol on Nessus that takes you into the well of flame area, but I'm not 100% sure. I feel like I remember going in there during a patrol to kill some vex, and that was the first time i realized that area existed.
Every so often I go up to the cliffs overlooking the EDZ at the Salt Mines where you come out of the lift on your way to Hawthorne during the Red War, where you picked up the original Thorn quest. Keep hoping one day they just put the little camp site back in there. But I think at some point they just reverted the map to an older D2 version (during the Beyond Light engine update?) I also check out Niobe labs just for fun. You used to be able to get up to Hangmans during LoS, when you could just sparrow left after reaching the open space where the Primevil is now.
I would like to add one more location to this list. The Dark forest in the EDZ was the original location where you got to see all 3 sub classes for the first time. You can still visit it and it looks a lot smaller than I remember 😢
Remember how awesome it was trying to get god roll Kindled Orchid and Hammerhead and Ringing Nail and Blast Furnace? And if you didn’t you might still get a godly Galliard, Dead Man Walking or Swift Ride? Black Armory was such a great time.
all of the patrol spaces need adding to, there's almost no point going anywhere apart from xur these days whereas before you'd find us exploring doing secret missions and hidden events etc
Once the expansion is over you often can't get back. And I thought that was wrong, so I've been oobing my way through destiny 1 / 2 ever since. Finding places and amazing things to explore. They 'cut' it out by the truth lies somewhere in between. Under many patrol area's you can often find load zones for strikes or area's no longer accessible by normal means. Titans tank mission could be glitches back in for example
1:00 vex incursion zones are one of the easiest ways to get exotics especially since it prioritizes ones you don’t yet have so I go there every time the bot says there’s one since I’m missing a couple still
Im a massive destiny fan and something id love for bungie to do is go full on open world. Id love to explore more areas of destiny's planets. Like imagine being in the farm and from there you could get on your ship and fly to the town that has that one campfire lit infront of the farm when its night time. Like theyve shown in the sky box on the farm that there is human life out of the city so why not let us explore it
I never noticed the GoA from there. But in general, I agree with your concept that re-using these areas would add some more interest to the game. Warframe does a good job of doing this.
to this day i still find it crazy that bungie "vaulted" all the black armory locations just for them to keep their locations in the game and literally reuse the assests in the same dlc they took them out of
I stopped playing a little after forsaken and came back a week before beyond light. I missed out on so much and wish I could go back and play these expansions.
I was just exploring some of these the other day. How about a spelunking video exploring those below the surface parts of the moon and Nessus that let you travel from one zone to another?
I've been saying the same thing. They need to fill out these areas for reason to return. make master public events that can be triggered into GM public events. That, would be dope. Add rare world bosses and specific world boss loot drops. Or loot tied to that GM public event
Just what i hate, why i stopped playing d2. There was a lot of promises about an expanding universe, and now it's just an empty playing field. I remember when at the end of some season i was patroling in the edz and found sojourner's camp and the lab, i was happy to see something new, and then came the disappointment when i googled it to see it is just some remnants of some old content that is no longer part of the game ...
Personally think they need a Dungeon on Nessus, EDZ has Warlord's Ruin, Cosmodrome has Grasp of Avarice, the Moon now has two, Duality and Pit of Heresy, Mars aka the Throne World has Spire, Dreaming City has Shattered Throne, heck even the H.E.L.M. has a Dungeon now. Only Nessus and Neomuna don't have Dungeon. Calus's gaudy Citadel on Neomuna is ripe for a Dungeon if not that then the Veil. As for Nessus you have several spots that work both on the surface and beneath for a Dungeon.
That cluster of buildings outside the city reminds me of an old coal power plant. I'd hazard guess that it probably helped power the city long before destiny.
Btw you can see scourge of the past raid in the tower look left at the bottom far in the distance and you’ll see the first encounter with the Chanel building and and skyscrapers
Thats one of Destiny major issues is that they promote a expansion with a new location but 80% of it is empty the open world idea needs a big new overhaul direction
Sure would be nice if they could bring back all the seasons activities in some rotator like the exotic missions. Having 2 or 3 different missions per week like, Forges, Sundail and the Splicer network mission and next week its Menagerie, the Reckoning and Undying Mind, etc. It would also serve as the place to get all Weapons with updated perks.
Im wondering if of the data miners could actually total up the file size for all the unused areas of Destiny 2, theres quite a few more than your video showed, I know alot of the maps assets are reused from all over the game, im talking the map file sizes and any assets that are unique to them. I'm also still wondering when they will ever use the cave of stars found inside The Weep lost sector, such a beautiful location thats easy to get to and has never been used, if you know you know...
Ok so the Forge spaces are there, but the Forges themselves are either gone (SO story conistancy there) or the wa to them is sealed off accessable only through glitching. I wish Bungie would at least open up these area for players to fully visit, like the bridge of the Cabal ship in the EDZ where you fought Thumos, or the Followers Of Osiris outpost in the EDZ. Honestly soem of these places would have been perfect for a Seasonal or new Expansion quest or story mission, how awesome would it be if Ada-1's short quest for the Transmog fabricator thing took you back to Naobi Labs where you recover a small left behind piece of the Forge that was there, or Lightfall or a Season with Osiris as a major focus took you back to the EDZ Follower outpost for soem reason and there you clear out some Fallen, do something, but go inside and look at the device that allowed Sagira to possess the player's Ghost for Curse Of Osiris, Osiris could then give some heart warming dialogue remembering how you used it to revive her and save him, maybe he reflects on how she's always been saving him, maybe even he gets so emotional he loses for a moment his logical mentality going into maybe using the device to restore her, only then to stop himself and returnign to his logical mentality says it wouldn't be possible, it would be a great humanizing moment to see Osiris so lost without her that even having an idea of reviving her makes him get momentarily emotional and illogical. Or just at least let us fully explore everywhere ad feel the nostalgia for something we'll likely never experiance again, or veterans who did play it could use it as a cool way for introducing New Lights by taking them to these places, like maybe the New Light watches the mission tot he Follower outpost on UA-cam as they and the veteran retrace the veteran's old steps. It would be awesome. Or add new content, new adventures set in the present day or post Final Shape to make use of these old places.
What you see behind the Tower is just another part of the Last City... The Tower is only 1 portion of the whole. The Traveler is @9 miles in diameter. The section you see very well may be the remnants of the Wall of Midgard as it was said to have had a river. To put this into perspective... Everything in the last city was centered around the Traveler... To the first wall it was said to be roughly 12-24 miles. This would have made the Last City roughly the size of Rhode Island (37 x 48 miles) just within the first Wall... Think of it like this... NYC is made of 5 boroughs each of which are massive in their own rights. In total it is 468.9 miles^2. Its 13.4 miles long and 28 miles wide. The Last City would have been FAR larger then this!
Same problem was with IO or Titan back in the day. Cool location but nothing happened over there. As a LIVE SERVICE game, it should feel LIVE. Meaning that small changes happen once in a while on the planets.
Im not shure but I think the Armory still being there is for the Izanagis quest/cat ? Or do you just get it all in the tower ? And the Armory Emblems can still be gotten or trough that way or not ?
City behind the tower just looks like some industrial plant or mining operation, which makes sense to have outside the wall, they produce noise and toxic chemicals that'd be bad for the residents.

God, I miss Black Armory, I've been waiting for a Season of the Forge sequel forever
so fun fact. there's occasionally a public event that has you kill a high ranking vex. it takes you into the well of flame to kill them
It’s crazy, so much of these assets could easily become a strike or something.
But I think at some point they just reverted the map to an older D2 version (during the Beyond Light engine update?)
I also check out Niobe labs just for fun.
Not vaulted but removed. Vaulting means that they should bring that content back but none of it was implemented in the game back.
Remember how awesome it was trying to get god roll Kindled Orchid and Hammerhead and Ringing Nail and Blast Furnace? And if you didn’t you might still get a godly Galliard, Dead Man Walking or Swift Ride? Black Armory was such a great time.
When exploring Sojourner's Camp, if you follow the strange sound, you can investigate and hear The Drifter tell a weird story.
The red war had some fantastic areas in the EDZ underground like the tank battle areas but they’re all sealed off
all of the patrol spaces need adding to, there's almost no point going anywhere apart from xur these days whereas before you'd find us exploring doing secret missions and hidden events etc
Like theyve shown in the sky box on the farm that there is human life out of the city so why not let us explore it
They did a good job of getting players to revisit these areas in Forsaken with the wanted enemy bounties. Haven't done anything like that since
I never noticed the GoA from there. But in general, I agree with your concept that re-using these areas would add some more interest to the game. Warframe does a good job of doing this.
New lights looking at the dcv
Nl: was this your home?
D2 vet: yes...and it was beautiful
They should bring back the prison of elders and wrath of the machine raid.
The cabal ship in the EDZ is actually really easy to glitch into to see some old red war stuff
to this day i still find it crazy that bungie "vaulted" all the black armory locations just for them to keep their locations in the game and literally reuse the assests in the same dlc they took them out of
My favorite pass time to do in destiny. Awesome scenery and things the devs created.
There's a place to glitch out of one of those Wells on Nessus that leads to a lot of weird areas. I'm sure Froggy's explored it way more.
the color and shape of those settlements outside the wall makes me think they're possibly eliksni pilgrim camps
Damn I seriously miss doing forge, that shit was fun bro
I miss when a good chunk of Harbinger was still in the EDZ that you were able to explore without oob.
Was thinking about all the tunnels in the EDZ - I also like the big underground cave on Nessus- I know it is in use but still awesome place
Crazy how you can see Earth patrol spots and Scourge Raid areas from the Tower.
It is still possible to get into hangmans pass and niobes lab. There is also one acscendant area in the dreaming city that was never used.
I would love for this content to be used in the future. Even if its re used.
I miss sagira
Me too
This vid deserves more likes than it has I may be biased because i love the lore of the game but thats my 2 cents.
You can giltch into bergussia forge and look around
I tried 😂 I’m just bad
They need to put the mission that gives you sagira's shell as a revisitable mission for those who didn't get to play it
The colony ships were always there. They used to be standing then when Grasp came out one of them collapsed and the ketch appeared there.
And the Armory Emblems can still be gotten or trough that way or not ?
behind the tower...it's occupied, the lights turn on at night...i spent quite a bit of time just relaxing there
I was doing a legend lost sector and it respawned me in sojourner's camp. I was so confused, I thought I was in the remnants of the farm.
Man, all this older content felt really fresh and expansive, while Neomuna feels absolutely lifeless. Final shape needs to step it up
I hope they make all the locations actually usable and give us good loot like they used to 🥴 that slapped
Wait... i thought the forge on Nessus was closed off after Beyond Light?
When did that pathway get unblocked again?
the first locastion in eath dead zone is still use for the patrol quest as far as i remember i did it once or twice
earth*
I miss the IO skybox. Especially when the invasion happened.
City behind the tower just looks like some industrial plant or mining operation, which makes sense to have outside the wall, they produce noise and toxic chemicals that'd be bad for the residents.
Hangmans pass was accessible before the revamped version of Lake of Shadows. Im not sure about now.
checked yesterday, d2 on xsx 140gb
n theres almost nothing to explore
while elder scrolls online takes 110gb with its insane world
yeah, engine, but still its a shame with that "turn back" bs
at this point I would love random generated cells on planets like in starfield, would be nice to explore random things
I MISS MY HAMMERHEAD!!😢😢
6:17
I saw something similar in Tangled Shore. (OOB)
