    I love my heavy cover canteen and lid, I carry mine in a Centerline systems pouch. it has a sling, built in molle straps, both vertical and horizontal, and four pockets. two knife or pistol sized on the sides, a narrow internal pocket whee I heel a take down bush stove, and a large pocket on the front below the securing yoke. great kit!

      I just got a new one of these to go with the one in the video. Now I have two and that will double my water capacity. I can't get enough of them.

    You are the second person in the past few weeks to sing the praises of this system. I suppose eventually I will have to break down and buy one.
    I use Blackthorn bottle coupled with a 750ml Toaks titanium pot currently and it works so well it's hard for me to justify spending the money on this.
    I have a Hidden Woodsman canteen pouch. It is top notch!

      I need one of his pouches. I was using a maxpedition pouch that works but isn't great.

    I have a canteen, but not the lid or really anything close to this system, lol. I keep hearing how this type of system is amazing and it's obvious that it is. I really need to breakdown and get a whole setup like this as it's great for cooking, water, coffee, tea, anything! Great review!

      The links in the comment section. The lid is key. Keeps the nasty out of the food/water. Very worth it.

      I don't know what to tell you about what is going on currently. This video is from 2015, and I had it a while before I made this vid. But I can say that I still have one of these and it is still my favorite canteen. I've done a few reviews on it so I probably won't do more but who knows as I do like it and it is quality.

    Looking inside the canteen, can you see the seam that runs around the center or is it smooth/flat? I'm wondering if that crease holds the canteen together or if I can grind that stupid thing down.

    • @TJackSurvival
      @TJackSurvival  5 років тому +1

      You can see the seam and I wouldn't try to grind it down. It would probably split the canteen open.

    So I have been thinking about picking one of these up for a while I pulled the trigger on it and it's great the only thing that is weird is there an internal lip that stops the last bit of water from coming out like the neck of the canteen comes down past it's shoulders by almost a centimetre you can feel it with you finger (by feeling the inside the bottleneck, the very bottom part) , does yours have that or is mine a lemon? Keep up the good work

    • @TJackSurvival
      @TJackSurvival  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks! Ya mine is the same as well. Manufacturing never quite matches up with design sadly.

    • @DailyDaze
      @DailyDaze 3 роки тому

      @@TJackSurvival Thanks for getting back to me on that mate! Had me a bit worried then but yeah it's literally just that. I guess it probably reinforces the bottleneck, loads of people been using them for years so I guess it's nothing major. Take care man

  • @hakuso.3
    @hakuso.3 6 років тому

    So, is that just a branded version of the Keith one?
    Aside from the plastic cap being added and a different pouch being used it looks exactly like the Keith kit.

    Titanium does not conduct energy well, thats why you can't do much more with it other then boil water... dissipates? I think I know what you mean. I wasted thousands on titanium cookware before I figure out it doesn't work for most things, I should have know better because I know that material well from my machining background

    Getting to the stage where I stick with the same gear (with two or three items I'm still not happy with) but I think I could find a place for that canteen kit. The Crusader 2 I use now is fantastic (especially since I got a fitted lid) and this canteen set would compliment it perfectly, great stuff!

  • @flashmanv3260
    @flashmanv3260 6 років тому +1

    Nice review. It works well. I think you missed a point, the cup/pot is for cooking, tea, whatever. You said you boil the water in the cup, then pour it into the canteen. The whole point of the TI canteen is you can boil water in the canteen itself, no poring back and forth needed. while you are boiling water in the canteen you can be cooking food or water for tea, anything else in the cup, it what makes it so versatile. Anyone who does not boil water in the canteen is really wasting money on this kit, that;s it's big advantage.

    • @TJackSurvival
      @TJackSurvival  6 років тому

      I liked the option back then to boil in the canteen if needed but in order to keep the canteen clean, I just used the cup. Nowadays I use this set as my cooker and food and small water and combine it with a big Kleen Kanteen that I can boil half a gallon in. I still use the crap out of this kit though. It's amazing.

      iBecamed of course. It’s only for people that want the best of the best. Given that it’s Titanium and other Titanium products on the market are in that ballpark it is priced appropriately.

    Test it out? It's a canteen. I it holds water, it's fine. And don't all canteen cups have lids? I've owned dozens, and everyone had a lid.
    The question is simply whether a canteen set is worth that much money. To me, the answer is not only no, it's hell no. It's lighter than stainless steel, but inferior in every other way, including cooking, and once it's full of water, the weight difference isn't even noticeable.
    Just buy either a G.I. canteen cook set with a stainless steel canteen, and a mess kit, or get the Pathfinder canteen cook set. It's a little heavier than this one, but unless you're simply blinded by titanium, you'll know that both cook sets are infinitely better in the wild that this thing. A metal canteen and a canteen cup are not enough, and you should know it.

    • @TJackSurvival
      @TJackSurvival  7 років тому

      Ya I, and many other people obviously disagree with your opinion. In the desert, I supplement this set with a Kleen Kanteen for volume. In the jungle however this is all that was needed due to the heavy amount of water available.

    i love the weight and would be happy to be able to get a set but the cost is just too much for me to bear .
    plus it doesn't look to have the capabilities of a regular round pot . ( from my perspective ) , i like to bake in camp , single serve muffins . and all pots get scorch marks , that wouldn't hurt mah feelins . plus i don't do long distance hiking either . i know weight is a big factor for those that do .
    by the way ... i love that tee pee , wherdja (

      It's a www.seekoutside.com 8 man tipi. It's lighter than most hammock setups, with more room, and fire options. Contact Kevin at Seekoutside.com and get yourself one. He's good people. I still have mine and use it every time I go deep into the backcountry with friends or in the winter when I need a stove. Good stuff.

    But because titanium transfers heat so fast, food can be burned if you're not careful using titanium cookware. I'd recommend using titanium cookware to warm MRE only. The ideal cookware material is still cast iron.
