Now I know what to do with the 50 pack of silver biankets I bought years ago, thank you. Very entertaining / Southern White Dove ,Peace, love & Prosperity always, my friend.
❤😍❤
Now we have to call you Bacon Kent :)
The reflection of the fire on the sides, and the transparent roof, really sets the theme of serenity!
Lovely, relaxing and comfortable.
Nice going !
Haggis?..🤔..I'll pass.
I don't eat entrails of any sort, except casings.
Great video!

The great thing about that shelter is that aliens can't steal your thoughts when you are in there. 👽🤯😉😇😀
😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂 that’s hilarious
Shit, Its not the aliens you need to worry about.. it's the government...republicans. Control freaks that only survive when the masses live in fear. Trump is their spokesperson
CAN TOO…that’s PLASTIC, not METAL blankets…
Was thinking the same 😂😂😂
you got me at "leave a crack in the door for ventilation", when you had 6 inches open all the way around at the bottom lol
yeah bet thats why it was so cold lol
The two hunters said the craft was rectangular in form, about the size of a utility shed. They saw a vaguely huminoid figure, ( it was too dark to see details ) then turned and ran to their truck, and drove to the police station. They both agree the craft was silent except for a whispery rustling noise, and the smell of burned wood from its landing was still very noticable.
HahahahahahahahahahahahahHA Aaaa
That is TOO GOOD! 🤣🤣🤣
In a few years I hope to hear this story on Bedtime Stories.
It’s a bush-craft! 😂

Andy seems like such a genuine guy, and it makes his videos 200% more enjoyable to watch.
So Agree! 😅
So true I am hopelessly inlove
This vid alone got more than 1million views!
Staying in that shelter must have given you plenty of time for reflection! Sorry for the awful joke Andy - great video!
🤣🤣
ROTF!!! I love punny stuff and yours was really good! 😂😂😂
You've been foiled again! 😅
GROAN! :)
That was a great TV pun intended. I'm laughing even now. You outta do stand-up comedy. I bet you'd be great.
At 72 my camping days are over but do I enjoy watching your set up. Good job mate.
Never say never. Rent an RV and hit a state park!
My uncle is 90 and he sleeps in tent in a military cottage til this day.
No way you're 72 kid.
@@joenippynapolitan2907 👍👍👍
Just when I thought I'd seen it all. Haggis cooked inside a disco ball. Loved the video, keep living the dream 👍
So, that's what haggis is, tatties, and neepss are. Learned something new, this vid. By the way, the reason lungs from beef, and pork are illegal, state-side, is the potential for exposure to TB. I'm not sure if lung from goat is also illegal, or not. Goats are immune to TB, or at least highly resistant to it. I think I'd have used a cot to get up off the ground, but you seemed to do just fine, anyway. Another way to improve insulation would be to setup an inner layer of foil blankets, about an inch or two from the outer layer. This traps a layer of air in between, and that has R value. The additional blanket layer adds yet another R value. Thanks for the video. :)
Haggis!? In the woods!? From scratch!? You're a legend bud. As a card carrying, pedigree Scotsman I approve highly of this. 🔥💪🥃
Andy is a brave man 👍😄
I'll stick to getting mine from the chippy tho.
I live in PA in the USA and we have a dish called pigs stomach. It's made with ground meat, onions, carrots and other stuffand put in a cleaned pigs stomach and baked. Would this be like haggis?
@@ricktalbott9611 I think most places have something comparable to haggis and that sounds like a contender. Haggis is traditionally from sheep but adding beef suet and using ox bungs to cook it in is very common now. The pig version sounds awesome. 👍
Just need some Irn Bru and you’re set.
That echo sound when the axe strikes… so nostalgic. That time of year, when leaves are down and visibility through the wood is so high (and sound travels so as to echo like that) is a singular pleasure. With a warm fire, of course.
Agree ,Love the true sounds too.
Andy if your going cold climate camping make a trench inside your hut about 2 foot x1 foot and 1 foot deep. The cold air will go to the lowest point ,being down into the trench.
Why not make the trench outside? Haha
Sleeping on the ground, in the cold, and haggis for dinner? You're not making me want to become a camper! lol Thanks for your videos, nice and relaxing to watch.
No One could ever say andy has a lazy bone in his body!! Very cool to witness!! THANK YOU ANDY!
haha, cheers Heather :D love mixing things up
I consider watching his videos as part of my weekly exercise regime.
Definitely not lazy.
@@KentSurvival hey mate love your channel weird question but how do you wash your knife after cutting the meat and your hands do you have hand sanitizer?
Hmmm,🤔 I was just thinking the exact opposite. I would say that Andy is probably the laziest person I know.
Love this man's adventures. The peaceful ambiance Kent brings with him just can't resist watching, specifically, before going to sleep.
You do know his name is Andy right?!?!? 😂
who is kent? lmao
Quoting Wikipedia, "In 1971 it became illegal to import haggis into the US from the UK due to a ban on food containing sheep lung, which constitutes 10-15% of the traditional recipe. The ban encompasses all lungs, as fluids such as stomach acid and phlegm may enter the lung during slaughter." There are variations on haggis that can be imported, but personally, I can make meatloaf taste the same, if properly spiced.
I love that you bring a big ol post hole digger but then bring a collapsible saw.
Mate, you did haggis from scratch while camping in a makeshift shelter. You’re a legend!
Gone to google haggis. 🤔
@@jen2076it's horrible I believe but never tried any. 🤷🏻♀️
Seeing that post hole digger brought back memories of my youth while living on our family farm in Southwestern Pennsylvania, USA. (I live in the UK now, since May 6, 2003) I became familiar with the use of it when I was as young as 12 when my Dad (❤️ R.I.P.) decided to install electrified fencing around our 50 hectares to keep the cattle from escaping. It was hard work using that post hole digger which left my hands with callouses but after seeing the last fence post go in I felt elated and from that day on had a sense of adult responsibility which made me feel more mature about myself. 👍🙂
I’ve been watching this type of content for about 5 years and I’m just now coming across this channel. Better late than never I suppose.
I think you should isolate the bottom zone. Thus, the heat generated inside would be reflected from the blankets and warm you much better. But I think you couldn't make a comfortable camp because of the cold coming from outside because you didn't insulate the bottom well. It was still a good adventure, I hope you enjoy it a lot. 👍
Cheers from Turkey 🎉🎊😄
It was a very creative shelter, but having the mylar wrap under the edges would help a lot! All that heat up top isn’t helpful if the ground is cold, it will only raw more cold air in.
Next week, Andy builds a shelter out of Band Aids….That was awesome Andy 👏🏻👏🏻 and to see how a Haggis is constructed was very interesting as well. Lovely stuff Andy👍🏻
That little folding stove looks quite cool. Worked better than I thought it would
I was scared that mylar might ignite.
@@ThatLadyInDallas2024 that would be a scary thought. 😮
Ah, yes, that campfire classic meal of haggis 😂 I was absolutely baffled when you said haggis. I was like, is this dude really about to make haggis from scratch at night in the middle of the woods?
I know, right? 🤨 I was thinking “you’ve heard of ‘Ramen 🍜 Noodles’ haven’t you?!”😂
That, and the bloke must’ve had a U-haul just out-of-shot to carry all that stuff with him!
@@throwaway3873, have you even tried it? It's actually pretty good.
That beef Wellington was exquisite. Even a lattice crust. Love your videos!! Especially the cooks!
I didnt even know what it was lmao. I came for a camping video not the grossest scottish food lmao
Y'all haven't watched enough camping episodes to see the making of his blood pudding which he frequently dines on- for all the US viewers, fasten your seat belts
Usually i get bored watching such videos. But this man got some captivating magic for some reason. Second video im watching now zzz
The firdst one was the carrboard tent in the rain
Your January looks so mild. We just got 14 inches od snow 2 days ago, and we have more coming tonight. Wonderful video.
It's calmed down a lot at the moment but I'm hoping for the snow to come back again soon
I lived in various parts of Scotland for over sixteen years (Aberdeen, Dundee,Ullapool,Edinburgh) and have been back on Merseyside for over twenty years; one thing I miss is a Haggis supper, which you can’t get down here. Not the finest Haggis you’ll ever eat, but on cold night (not uncommon in Scotland) on the wobbly way home from the pub, hard to beat.
In the future, before you put things inside a shelter you can also sweep the leafs on the ground on the inside up against the wall to provide added insulation. Combo that with what you did on the outside and it should work for a night or two
Making the haggis in the woods; I've seen it all now!
Wow, this so random...and brilliant! A tent that looks like a spaceship in the wood (Rendlesham Wood anyone?) and homemade haggis, neeps and tatties! I love all the gadgets too. This is bloke that knows how to get the best out his life!
i find your videos strangely addictive..60 years since i camped out in an Exchange & Mart ex army canvas tent, with built in sand bags to keep the wind out...great memories.
Ida made it a foot shorter and carried all sides to the ground.
The wife walks in and sees your setup and says,”Whelp! He should be able to tune in to every radio station in the region now with all that foil!” 🤣🤣🤣
Also when you started to process the wood for the stove I thought the wood was going to shot through the tent walls after all the work you did haha.
Love your videos here in SanDiego Cal
🤣 ironically, I had a radio and it wouldn't work inside
😂
Sorrento Valley, FTW!
“Whelp”? What’s a whelp?
probably you made yourselves a Faraday cage@@KentSurvival
So fun to watch Andy!! Another great one and it’s alien proof! 👽🛸! You’re always the highlight of my week! ❤
Haha, thanks Katie.. no probs for me 🤣
😂
He is 👽
Bit late with this comment but making your own haggis is pretty impressive..... haggis, neeps 'n' tatties are so underrated and completely delicious, and to make it all while out camping in a homemade space blanket house is mind boggling😮 I take my bunnet off to you good sir.😊😊😊.
Don't forget Cock-a-leekie or Cullen Skink! I gotta get back to Scotland someday.
I’ve been watching tons of camping videos lately and I find it so odd that no one seems to use a ground sheet anymore.
Luke from The Outdoor Gear Review uses a ground sheet every time.
That drives me nuts. Especially in snow camp.
I agree! So much cold and damp comes up from the ground!
and on this one not just ground sheet was “missing” but that huge gap on the bottom … to let wind in and out risking the whole structure and making it cold too… sure the air upward was warmer but … eh this was a weird one… a good concept but I felt at bit disappointed … which i usually
dont have with his videos
mityaboy463Plastic wrap to cover the gap at the bottom would do wonders.
Brilliant stuff - fully haggised-up Scotsman here. I was thinking - could you have added an extra layer of the sheets which were about 2 feet beyond the bottom of the structure - like a skirt (or kilt😂) and put the logs on top of the overhanging bits thus completely sealing the ground level?
Hubby and I love this shelter. You out do yourself every video. Absolutely love your channel. The meals you make are outstanding
The audio inside the tent sounded fantastic. So clean.
I'll bet Steve Wallis would absolutely LOVE this video!!
When Andy was put this up I thought of Steve’s attempt at a bubble wrap shelter!
2 for 2 on my birthday. 1st Simon and now Andy with a video drop. It's made my evening 😋
haha, Happy Birthday! :D 🥳
@@KentSurvival and that's the cherry on the cake. Thank you
Nice to see you still going strong Andy! So many seem to have stopped over the years, sending all the best to you and yours man.
I agree!
I love all of my White brothers and sisters.
May God bless us all.
The beginnings of a surgeon. Greetings from the States, a couple hundred miles south of Chicago.
You are so chill and down to earth. It's mainly why I watch your vids. Keep em coming!
Perhaps the best feature of the shelter was the way it gave you new ways to film light. You also captured some very sculptural wood and fungus. It would have taken more 'Neck Oil' for me to slide that haggis down my gullet.😉 I have been speculating on ways to 'improve' the shelter design. One way might be to de-stub some poles and wrap some part of the emergency panels around them to secure a base along most of the (uneven) ground. A raised bed would get you off the ground and out of the draft. Making a smaller shelter would be on my agenda! One of the useful parts about videos like yours is how they get the minds of viewers working in reaction to your experiences.
Stay well Andy. You doing a great job. Really love your shows and hope you will continue to keep teaching us things to survive by 👋 .
Andy, I can’t stop watching your channel and people learn so much from your videos keep up the good work….(I’ve even got my son watching your channel now) thanks 🙏 Andy
Good thing you got a calm day to do this project
I know it's a test, but the cardboard shelter, with the tarp over top and these on the interior walls and roof would probably be very comfortable.
I was at a "drive in" movie with my son at his elementary school, they would show movies on the basketball courts outside during the evening on a inflatable screen. The families would sit in camping chairs and the kids could make cars out of cardboard boxes.
Along with my son, his mom and her fiance were there. Our son was cold so I got an emergency blanket out of my trunk. She asked me why I was wrapping him up like a burrito. Lol
Thanks for doing this with the emergency blankets! I've been thinking about experimenting, but your test answered my questions 👍
Perfect!!! Just the right amount of talking. Truly magnificent. Well done mate!
Nice mylar bush home for the night. Nice job on the build,I think you'll be plenty warm.👍☘️😎
Great video, not only good to watch but educational.
Well done Andy
Thanks Andy! Nice to come home and relax to your amazing bushcraft content before the football starts later. Again will look forward to your next outing, stay safe 💯
Love your willingness to deal with discomfort for our entertainment and education. Thank you
What a cool video! And yeah the light looked really great inside the shelter. Thanks for the upload!
From scratch absolutely incredible, you worked so hard.
Thank you very much
Wow so cool different style of stuff you do makes a difference Well done Andy looking forward to seeing your next project
Thank you Samuel
Binge watching and thoroughly enjoying the camping trips. Thanks a lot
I'd been thinking about how well those things would go into making a larger shelter. This might turn into a fun activity for my younger students' outdoors sessions. Thank you for that, first of your videos I've watched and I'm straight in as a subscriber.
Cool video, Andy! Thanks for all you do!
My pleasure!
I’ve seen people do this with the see through Saran Wrap but this was even better. This reflects the heat and the interior light. No one can see you too. Really smart
Reminds me of the forts we made outside on the clothes line or over the table and chairs! Love it
You didn't eat something from Fear Factor in it though, did you? Hahaha
I’m from the US and I can’t believe how brave you all are to eat all those organs lol! But what a great source of nutrients! I believe they found fungal spores, stomach acid and pollen that reaches the lungs so they banned it. But I would figure it would all be burned out. Who knows. I love watching your videos! Love from Arizona!
also from southern AZ!!!
I’m from the US as well and I’d starve before I ate that.
@@leeowens8294I'm from the U.S. too and yeah I most definitely would be starving if this was on the menu. It looked good but I can't eat organs. 😊
From Missouri, Just got back from Scotland and had Haggis about every other day. It is so dang good. You guys should definitely try it once for sure. Tastes nothing like is sounds.
Hi Andy fantastic video loved it your always so upbeat brilliant can't wait for the next one,
Andy is genuinely a nice guy i love his nervous laugh keep up the good work pal
It's not a nervous laugh, it's just a laugh
@@nj2033 I think he meant nervous sounding
@N J its a nervous why else would he be laughing
@@ste.c9970 Exactly. I find it nauseating and distracting, it ruins what would otherwise be 5 star videos. He needs to work on his presentation if he is to progress the channel.
Like your videos, love how you try different things for camping so we know what works and what doesn't.
Love it Andy. Keep up the good work my friend. Long life to your family:)
This was seriously freaking genius!!
Thank you Heather :D
Interesting idea that worked quite well. Really enjoyed it & learned a few things as well.
The only thing I can think of that you might want to carry along with your stoves is a sterling heat engine. One of those heat recirculation things that looks like a small desk fan but runs on heat. They can help with the recirculating of heat so it’s not all that drafty in the corners.
Im loving the various items liek that cool portable stove/heater. Man, I want one of those!!! What a great idea using the emergency blankets as shelter. I love seeing the ways to use things for a little adventure.
Brave job with the wee haggis!! You’ve gone above and beyond what’s required!!!😂🎉
Cheers :) had to be done for the 1/4 Scotsman in me
Hi Andy. We've written a huge book on wild edible plants and trees. Been watching your channel probably a year now and thought you might like a copy. Let us know and we'll post you a freebie as reward for all the cold nights in the woods ! ✌️😁

Great shelter Andy, seemed so simple to put together
Andy i absolutely love your channel, you are freaking amazing mate. i love your build projects. its always a treat when you upload a new video... keep up the good work my friend...
Making haggis from scratch in the woods! Good for you, I said to my it looked quite course but looked lovely when it was cooked.
As always, bloody wonderful and so relaxing to watch. If ever you are on the fens around Wicken, Ely, you will be welcome to pitch up at the mill.
A good tip with Haggis is to boil it for about 2 hours and just before serving and some vegetable oil to the water! does nothing for the tast just makes it easier to slide into the bin. As you might have guessed it is an aquired taste that has eluded me!
!!!!OMG...HILLARIOUS...kevin williams!!!! I laughed 'til I cried. 🙂
I'm of Scottish heritage...Campbell sir name...and I wouldn't feed Haggis to my dog.
I tried it once...years ago. It took a week & a gallon of Listerine Mouthwash to get the
God-awful taste out of my mouth.
Best regards,
Ben
Happy Wednesday Andy I got to complement the video the shelter looks amazing hope your staying warm during these cold days and nights 😀👍
Thank you :)
I like that shelter. If you had to have an emergency shelter and you had a thousand blankets and some super duper tape, I can see this happening. Now, regarding that Haggis...um...I don't think so. I'm in the US so I guess it's illegal here. Oh, what a shame! Oh well, more for you. I could manage the Twix and tea, if it's iced. I'm in the South so it's sweet, iced tea here. You are right about tea keeping things more civilized. Love your channel!
Wow. Your video ended up in my feed. I'm glad it did. This has been very interesting and relaxing to warch. Thank you. You have a new subscriber. 🤞👽
Great!!! Now i must go get food again!!! Kent always makes me hungry heheheh. Love this guys videos and the way he is just natural as if we are there with him.

I put these inside the linings of my curtains this year for added insulation and was surprised I could see straight through it!
Hey! Great idea! Did it help with insulation for your windows?
@@mawmawvee I've used them too as window liners, and they do work to keep the warmth in. In summer they reflect the sun and keeps the room cooler. Give it a try!
