    I enjoyed your video
    Just some additional information:
Your American M1962 plastic canteen was invented in Canada with troops were being issued them in 1960. The US adopted them in 1962 with first issue in 1963.
The US NBC or CBRN cap was made in 1966 as a replacement cap, in 1981 the canteen came complete with the NBC cap.
The British military first used the NBC cap on the P'58 water bottle in 1986.
The P'44 water bottle was redesigned with a new plastic cap around 1965.
Denture cleaning tabs are good for cleaning plastic canteens, after a few cleanings it can get rid of the funky taste plastic canteens develop. As regular maintenance they clean & sanitize in one step.

The RAF Q Store at RAF Changi in Singapore used the 44 pattern bottles in 1969-70 as my Dad brought one home for me. I like the 58 Pattern and use one with the Crusader cup and stove as my go-too.

West German canteens and 58 pattern bottles are what I use. The W German one actually came with a job lot of DOM, 58 webbing, and etc and was standing in for a 44 pattern. I use a US post wwii (butterfly handle) and that W German canteen for BAOR events and even for my Rhodie kit. I still use that cup for BAOR with 58 bottles because of what y’all mentioned; you can cook from it.

"58 pattern bottles, two, one in my belt kit, and one as a backup or quick swap from the handy bottle-sized pouch on the back of the infantry bergen. Also a big fan of the metal "Crusader" mug, with the little metal cooker thats made for it to get a brew on, and finally a jetboil.

The metal mug is essential in jungle warfare. you'll find every bloke has a metal for that. Hydration at a milsim game is so underated or even talked about.

The pattern 37 water bottle was based on the original 1888 water bottle. The carrier was copied from the 1908 pattern webbing. Originally the water bottle was meant to be carried in one of the internal pockets of the 37 pattern small pack with the mess tins to go in the other pocket. The introduction of the carriers for the 37 pattern webbing came about because it became apparent the men needed access to their canteens while on the march. Later carriers were a sleeve type which made access a bit easier (but not much).

Milton may corrode aluminium and steel, especially stainless steel, so you might want to try another way of sterilising metal water bottles. Steam cleaning maybe?

You can pick up Dutch ww2 Alu waterbottles that are ringers for our 44 pattern water bottles except for they have a chain to lid instead of para cord on the British version. Usually come with a 44 style cover but made from the heavier 37 pattern material? If material is the right word. For next to nothing £ wise for anyone wanting that SAS or Ally belt kit set up look. They were around a fiver a set online. ( that's if there still about ) hope that helps anyone 👍
BTW drunk out of British bottles most of my life both 58 and 44 during my time in the forces, just be weary of the ones that have had screech in 🤢 won't kill you but best to thoroughly clean with boiling water first then as the boys said Milton sterilising fluid afterwards .
Great videos BTW too lads. Definitely know your stuff 😊👍

@@AnvilAirsoftTV I've had a quick look see if I can find a seller but unfortunately doesn't seem to be any about now ( at the moment ) nearest I can find is Danish Post ww2 ( apparently same manufacturer as our 44 pattern except for a green plastic screw type lid ) but saying out of stock. Was hoping to be able to follow up with a supplier but alas not. Sorry guys. They do come up from time to time but I guess their getting rarer these days too. Again Apologies for being the bearer of bad news so to speak lol

It is interesting how the military, with all the money and government thinkers in the world can come up with such crap. I have a Finland one (of course I have the US/Canada one too) and it is a thin wall relatively square shape; the look like they toss them in the recycle bin rather than pass them along to the next soldier.
When not playing with military kit, I either use new commercial hiker bottles or re-use pop/soda bottles.
