That turned out super nice!!! It will come in so handy for your trip and everyday use......great job. If you two get out of control Vicki can put each one of you in a roller compartment and have the whole front of the truck to herself!
Love watching you guys work together, like looking in a mirror at my son and I. Argue like cats and dogs but an the end of the day we're both happy and calling "Miller Time". Can't beat a father son team.
Looks great. Instead of rollers I used 1/4” strips of umhw as sliders. If you park on a hill the rollers will let drawers roll out. The umhw lets them slide easy but won’t let them slide out on their own. Also keep the bottom of box flush with tailgate and tailgate supports drawer when fully extended
I have the box part built for my GMC Canyon, but i plan on using angle iron on the sides of the drawers with bearings, and the top is the width of my bed just over the wheel wells. I have covers over the front cubbies. Will take pictures when im done and send it to you.
Looks amazing. Have to be careful about pulling the drawers out too far so that it does not come out of the truck. What would it take to add a couple of drop down legs on the bottom of the drawers to extend down to the ground for drawer pullout support. One man could handle the access to the extreem back cubbie with the overhang supported with the support legs. A horizontal brace leg connector between the drop down legs would help with ability to raise the legs back up under the drawer bottom with one hand.. Sort of a lopsided "H" design. The support legs could also be made telescoping to adapt for unlevel ground area.
OK now I have to admit you have me on the edge of my seat. I have been wanting to do this for a couple years now. But I don't want to use it for storage. I want to use it to carve out of.
I’ve been looking for a box design for my truck for long rv trips. This looks perfect. Not too complicated to build but plenty sturdy. Where did you find those rollers/casters? Thanks, Paul
What thickness plywood did you use I want to build this setup, and how did it hold up over the last 6 months. I would like to build this for the bottom with little removable smaller trays about 3/4 up the side. I also plan on putting slide out flat tray on top for a pull out work space and storage for bigger items. Instead if the casters I was going to run 1 inch roller ball transfer bearings. Cool setup and thanks for the vid ill be using for my build with some tweaks over the next couple days.
Thanks man! We used 3/4" plywood and it's held up great! I'm fact, it's loaded down as we speak with a bunch of stuff moving from CA to az. This thing has been a God send
I believe we put the cut list in the description. If not, then we didn't make one. Sorry about that, I definitely should have. We got the rollers on amazon

Thank you Miss Lori, yeah Ryan and I are aware of our fate if we get out of line, 😂😂😂

Yeah, father and son team is kind of what I'm used to. We're having a blast....
Great idea to help with organization. Having everything in its own area should help with having to hunt for things.
That's what we're hoping. Thank you Don
What an awesome project for those of us who must be organized! Excellent job!! I’m impressed.
Thank you Miss Shirley
👍👍👍Great job there lads, Best wishes to Vicki.
Thanks so much!!!
That was a great idea and build. Enjoy it!
Thank you Bill
Nice build! Looks very handy for what you are going to use it for!
Thank you Greg, I think it will work well for us.
Nice job EZ E....🤘🤘🤘
Thank you Dano...
Very cool idea. That flex seal should help keep things dry. Keep up the great work. 👽
So far it's working great. Very "non skid" as well.
Hey this help out a lot thanks guys
No problem, buddy👍👍

That's a great idea! Might have to modify it later

Sounds great. Look forward to seeing pictures. Thank you for watching
That's really awesome. Ryan, how did it taste saying "Dad was right" that many times. Lol
😂😂😂 Ryan's back in CA right now, so I'm answering the comments. I guess the old man still has a few good ideas....

Really good ideas, Thank you Gary. We may have to do an add on modification....
That should make keeping tool organized, a lot easier.
We hope so, Thank you
A question please: How did you secure the whole draw system to the truck bed? Did you tie it down or did you screw it to the tub?
It's not secured in there. We put the Flex Seal on the bottom and it's heavy enough that it doesn't move around at all
That's a really good idea guys, are you taking your Mobile Workshop
We're not taking the mobile shop to Texas. We'll be inside in a booth.

I think it could definitely be modified into a carving station.
Cut out the sides halfway back, put hinges on with a chain hanger. Drop down legs on the drawers as well.
Why not OSB for the top and bottom if it's gonna get carpet?
I'm not a big fan of OSB and this plywood wasn't much more expensive, but it would definitely work if you want to use it

Honestly, we love this thing. We got them on Amazon and they were pretty cheap
So far, I think the only thing I would do different is try to have the top. Where it will pull out and become a workbench.
Yeah, that's a pretty good idea....

Ah, I just heard when you were doing the carpet you used 3/4. I don't think ill do carpet as I'm too cheap but looks good.

Do y’all have a cut list and where to get the roller
I believe we put the cut list in the description. If not, then we didn't make one. Sorry about that, I definitely should have.
We got the rollers on amazon
nice video. what did you do to prevent leaking between cap and truck bed
We haven't had any leaking at all
thanks@@oldave100
How many sheets of ply did you use??
In total we only used 3 full sheets
Where did you get the casters?
Got them on amazon.
How many sheets of plywood did that take
I believe it was almost 4 full sheets
1 more thing Need to hook up a charger station
That would be pretty cool!
😂😂😂how much does it weigh???😅😅😅
Maybe 65 lbs. We take it out when we have to load bigger stuff in the truck
Not as much as I thought 🤔 that's not bad, you can handle something like that 😜.
👍😀
Lol nice joke. It's like me telling my wife i might go pickup some chicks at the local co-op every spring....😂
😂😂😂
There goes your gas mileage..
I don't think it'll be that bad....
