Best part of that is your daughter was thinking she was just helping dad. But those memories will be bigger! Plus she’s learning some real skills. Way to go Dad. Insert Trace Atkins song. “She just thinks we’re fishing”
Dont know what your final cost was, but the value in working and playing with your daughter and building memories, PRICELESS. Glad to see there are still some DADS out there. Wish you luck and health.
That hit hard you informing us this was the first project since your father's passing, very sorry for your loss... 36yrs old and I have no idea what I'm going to do when that time comes. I too call him for nearly every project and it seems he's always got a simple and effective way to do it causing me to throw out the plans I drew up like a 5yr old lol.
@@ericculver9700 Absolutely man! We hang out all the time, projects are our hobbies lol. Growing up my father was a pretty bad alcoholic, except once a year we'd go camping/fishing for one week and he wouldn't drink. But it got worse after his company shut down, long story short he's been completely sober for a few years now and every time him and I are off we're doing something together whether it be working on a project, grilling, or just sitting around shooting the breeze.
Condolences about your dad, you did em proud though. Your family, business, both awesome, what else is there? Just found your channel not too long ago, love it. Binge watching like a mad man.
Your youngest is learning so much from you with these projects. Well done. On the other hand, when she starts dating, many many years from now, she will be much more capable than anyone she meets. It continually surprises me how little practical knowledge people are taught these days. Or how little desire they have to learn.
20 seconds in and can't thank you enough for restoring my hope in these projects. Just built van racking and multiple drawers set up and a lot of head scratching and profanities got me through it. I'm not the sharpest tool in the box but neither am I the dullest. Watching the average build video and they make it look a breeze, which had me questioning my competence. I guess if you're looking to do a build that is specific to your needs and high quality, then the stress levels rise.
My work Tahoe had a "Truck Vault" in it. They have models that don't go all the way to the sides. Even the pre-made units can be a pain to install properly, but those drawers sure nice once it is in. I added some D-ring tie down points to the side of mine and it let me strap down stuff I put on top of it to keep the stuff from sliding around.
Great Vid. Sorry to hear about your father. I'm in the same boat. It make me work even harder to come up with solutions knowing how proud he would be. All his hard work over the years paid off. Love your channel.
I bought a bed slide for my Avalanche 9 years ago. Best thing ever, used it for camping and my acreage. And now for the city, its still awesome. I bought mine that was made for my truck though, so install was 30 minutes and the best $1000 I ever spent. Could I of built it myself, probably. And then years would of passed because I wouldn't of. Sometimes money is well spent. But an awesome job
That turned out amazing. Im so very sorry about the loss of your Dad. How wonderful that he left such good memories......as you are doing for your kids (and viewers).
I love your videos and your honesty, silliness, workmanship! Always a fun video experience, even if the topic is of no interest. This is a topic of interest!! I need these so bad. and the ready-to-buy options are too damn much $$$. Thanks
I like bed liner--used it on my exterior doors on my utility buildings. AND I am starting to cover an old truck in bed liner. ALOT cheaper than a shiny fancy paint job!
Young man, I can say that we use the same principles.... exacting plans that get thrown away, much more time spent than thought, more trips to a store but in the end.... success! Well done! I hope the peanut butter and honey sandwich was awesome!! Great help you have!! Hope your holidays are incredible! Take care, be safe and God bless and hope to see much more in the coming year!!
Great vids. The splinter guard can be reattached with carpet tape. When they get chewed up, you can pull them off and move them over about an eighth of an inch and it’s like new. The last time I bought one, I got the makita and it seems to stick better.
Luv to see you and your daughter working together on this one! It looks great! Awesome job team! 😊👍 Enjoy the humor in your videos too, and of course the 🐥💩! 🤷🏼♀️ Thank you for sharing!
Loved watching this video. I think it’s super cool you having your daughter help out with your project. I can sympathize with your work station. I have not even a one car garage so I do all my projects in the driveway. It makes it hard to get motivated sometimes. I just finished a bedslide project myself. Yours turned out really nice. I kept a hoe to get the stuff in the front of the bed. As for the chip guard on your track saw mine did the same thing I used some 1/32” double sided tape (VHB tape). Fixed it.
Do you have any rough measurements, I absolutely love that setup, I have a truck on 37 inch tires and this would make getting to things in the bed so much better
Very nice,I no longer have the patience for these projects. A simple flag box took me 8 hours. When I made projects in the past I always used plans from someone or drew my own in sketch up.
💥 I’ve been thinking of doing something similar to that, without the chickens however. Need to make my truck bed more functional. Sorry about the loss of your dad. *Keep on tractoring!*
Man, I feel this guy's pain. Every project I do takes longer, cost more money and has Way More Damn Problems than it should! But Sometimes with enough cursing, throwing tools and pissing off family it works out.
7:53 every trial and tribulation of this project just melts away. Now it’s a priceless truck bed drawer. Can’t buy that at the store. Maybe wait a bit to take em to the gun range 😅
I began watching y’all for the chicken content. Thanks for all the good info laced with grins and giggles. Folks take themselves too seriously these days. I watched this one and, dang! Watching you and your daughter build that together, I found myself watching and crying. What a lovely family. We have 2 grown daughters and now 2 great sons in law of our own. Though the days are long and sometimes slow, the years go by so fast. Be so thankful you have this video record of the daily moments that make our normal everyday lives remarkable and ever so special. Moments like these, playing tic-tac-toe during a project are rare and worth more than gold. You’ll realize this even more keenly when your babies have flown your coop. You and Kim are rich, with wealth no one can measure. God bless you.
Thank you so much Jennifer. I realize more everyday how time flies and how I’m running out time to make memories. I’m trying my best to make the most of it.

Your videos are great. I just found this page but I wish they went into a little more details about design and how your actually doing it. Like more details but I love this page
Your favourite bit is made in Canada and called a Robinson. There is a good documentary video about it on UA-cam. It was invented to stop people from getting stabbed with a flat head screw driver.
Awesome job! Came out better than the store boughts. I'm jealous of your growing Milwaukee tool collection. I want one of everything they make. Such nice tools.
Wow, great video! It's real, funny, instructional, and somehow ended up a feel good video. I liked the father/daughter time and how you structured the whole thing. Editing was top friggen shelf sir. I'm looking forward to more... anything.
Great build! There's a family out of Canada, Gridlessness, who are overlanding in the states right now. They did a complete retro fit of their truck for the trip. They have drawers similar to yours as well as solar panels on the side of the truck and all sorts of other stuff. You might enjoy having a look at what they did.

Great job persevering! Wonderful lesson for your little helpers. I don't have any little helpers, (No matter what the Cat's and Dog's claim, they're useless.), or your years of cabinetry-building experience. I had to go with a set of used deck drawers. 😆
SO glad to see a video from you. I was getting worried how the homestead was doing. I really like this project. It makes me want a truck again. Last one I had was an '86 F-150 Regular cab, long bed, front & back fuel tanks, 4 speed with a creeper gear. AH, I do not miss the 12MPG it got. I can't believe the chickens didn't poop on the driveway on Day 5. I think they are slipping. ;)
I've got an old Avalanche. I've been thinking of building just one big slide. Pulling those bed cover panels off are a pain. I travel for work so I have to access the full bed constantly.
Perfect timing brother. I'll watch this tonight when I'm in bed as my birthday gift. I'll need some alone time after my six girls berate me with their "affection" today. 😅

You should by and use some C.A. glue to reattach the strip to the bottom of the track saw.
Dang chickens. You should look into a two or three nozzle water sweep for driveways. And you'll probably want to use a 3/4" hose instead of 5/8".
