Shadow System XR920 vs Glock 19M

- The Shadow Systems XR920 and Glock 19M Gen 5 go head to head on the range and I also compare them with a table top review. These are two great pistols based on a common platform. Shadow Systems provide all of the upgrades many Glock shooter's prefer at a price point that is hard to beat. I personally think the Shadow Systems XR920 Combat is worth the mark up and have enjoyed shooting it both on my home range, at the local shooting club, and carrying it on a regular bases.

I’m not a Glock fan but came across a XR920 deal that i couldn’t pass up on and it is what a Glock wishes it was. Changed the back strap to help with my point of aim and it’s just amazing. I’m an Sig guy and I was impressed with Shadow. Might continue buying Shadow, for the right price though.
I picked up my XR920 a few days ago and love it. Great video btw, thank you.
The optic cut alone makes it worth it over a Mos.. I have a xr920 elite love it
love my Glock 19 gen 5, feels like an invincible, ever reliable backup. managed to snag an XR920 elite factory new for 700 bucks off gunbroker (what a fkn steal). It is night and day shooting between the two.
As a left handed shooter who's been shooting for a bit, the ambi slide release didn't make a big difference and a lack of left handed slide release combined with the ambi gas pedal makes my grip excel wildly on the XR920. unlike my full size walther pdp, the full size grip on the XR doesn't slide around as it's managed by the polymer mag well add-on, so it feels just as tight as the G19. Slapped a tlr-1 on it and the already flat shooting gun became a stone cold killer. Didn't notice a big enough difference between trigger aside from a less crusty draw down on the XR. gen 5 has a nice enough defined wall and a clean break, so aside from something like the walther or a third party trigger, it's all the same to me.
Only time will tell if it exceeds the G19 for reliability. a few hundred rounds and no malfunctions yet.
Lol bro i have a g19 gen 5 & really considering the XR920, im also left handed 😂
I have the Shadow Systems DR 920 and I'm very happy with it.
It’s a great pistol for sure! Thanks for stopping by.
My MR920 Elite also has front slide serrations on the top of the slide. Making press checks even easier.
For me, shadow systems enables me to be able to have a “Glock”. Glocks are not made for big beefy hands. I have had slide bite from every Glock ive shot. Shadow systems dr920 has bit me once but way less than Glocks because of that extended beaver tail. The xr920 combat is one of edc carries and probably my main edc.
Great video, thanks for the review. I agree with you comments. Will you be reviewing a Walter PDP in the future?
I would like to, if I can find one for a decent deal or if someone in my circle picks one up, I definitely will. Being self funded, it’s hard to get to them all.
Sticking with H&K VP9 LE
$550.00 out Door then
$650 to $700 today
LE edition is nite sites & 3 mags
Love the VP9 as well!
I love my XR920
It’s a great pistol KARASU357. Thanks for stopping by.
Mr918 elite is a dream to shoot over my g19 gen3. Recoil impulse feels the same to me but the grip and trigger on the mr918 is just mmmmmmmmm.
Curious if you’ve held the Foundation series from SS. It levels the playing field wrt price. Both the 19 and the MR920 (or 45 or 17 variants) come in around $630.
I'm lefty n idk never use the slide Stop anyway except to lock it open manually
Did you say which back strap you are running out of the 3 that come stock with Shadow Systems. You should be using the High back strap if you shoot the Glock platform alot & love the grip angle it has.
Get the Shadow Systems with optics or at least optics ready, you will not regret it👍.
I feel like the price difference shrinks a bit over what your sticker prices are based on the fact that the stock Glock sights are basically placeholders for most people. A set of Ameriglo or Tirjcon sights is gonna run you around $100 give or take plus having them installed or if you have the tool installing them yourself.
You should be comparing the glock 19 MOS to the MR920 combat. Comparing a basic non MOS glock 19 to the MR920 isn't a fair comparison price wise.
It’s not like he used a dot on the shadow shadow system. It’s a fair comparison.
I’m torn between a 19x or a xr920 combat i saw on bereli for 550.
Shadow Systems guns are just _pimped out_ Glocks. You want to get attention - get a Shadow System gun. You want to get the job done - get a Glock (IMO).
I feel that you tried to do a fair comparison. For me the Shadow System back strap system is huge on changing the angle of presentation and the optic mounting system is extremely robust. Another big plus is the option to get a factory threaded barrel plus a steel guide rod with replaceable flat spring and a machined stainless steel sticker. In addition to my G45, G19X, and G43X I also have the Shadow System Elite MR920 and DR920. As an average every day shoot I feel the Shadow System offers more value dollar for dollar than the Glock unless you a content running your Glock absolutely stock.
All solid points Dennis, thanks for taking time to share. I also agree Shadow Systems offers a lot of value for the money. Take care.
Glock 45 also comes with a threaded barrel, I just purchased one in the gen 5 series it was pricey At 999 w/o tax but I saw a shadow system for 1600 at Cabelas
@@norrisdillahuntjr4570 Where'd ya get the Glock 45 with threaded barrel?
Ss for the win.. Craftsmanship and metals are far superior to glocks n i love glocks. Glock went mim on alot of crucial internals... Sad. Shadow 17-4.. Slide 17-4 shadows are just superior
What “metals” are better on the shadow systems over the Glock??? What “crucial internals” did Glock go “mim” on exactly? Name them.
I picked up my Xr920 foundation a couple days ago for $679. Hopefully they keep getting more affordable
Just got one of them today! I was going to get a Glock19, but they were out everywhere, and it was the last shadow systems in town I think, so, I wasn't mad when I got it instead lol
@@marcusmartinez5454 Right on brother. I'm loving mine. I was going to get a G19 but my hand's too big, so then I was gonna get a G45 but it was almost as much as the XR920. So I said what the hell
Good Video, Thanks! After watching yours and many other videos on the topic of Shadow Systems vs Glock. I'm leaning toward stippling my Glock 45 and replacing the sights with quality ones that work best for me and have the exact gun that I want. The price for everything will be close to Shadow Systems. Curious to hear your thoughts or anyone else who has done this. Thanks......
Thanks for stopping by. It’s really up to you. If you plan to keep the Glock, and really like the idea of modifying it, then go that route. Otherwise, I would get the Shadow Systems, and plan to upgrade the G45 sights at a later date.
@@shootersresourcechannel642 Thanks
Very nice review. What is Your favorite gun to shoot?
That’s a tough one, I love them all like my children. My favorite thing to do is shoot dynamic drills, the gun seems to disappear when the shot timer goes off as long as the trigger isn’t horrible, which most guns these days have decent triggers. I like 1911 and Glock based guns, VP9s, & M&Ps. I also like my ARs and bolt guns as well. Take care Donio.
@@shootersresourcechannel642 Thanks
Next time G45 or 19x vs XR920 please
Didn’t have access to one at the time.
I know everyone is a critic, but I think it would have been a better comparison if you shot your Glock 19 against a Shadow Systems MR 920, since the latter is the same size as the Glock 19. Or shoot the XR 920 against a G19X or a G45. I just think it would have been a more accurate comparison between guns of identical size. All that said I appreciate the video. I own several Glock 9mm’s in Gen 3, Gen 4, and
Gen 5. I know Gen 6’s will be introduced in the next 2-3 years, and I’ve decided that if they aren’t a blatant rip off of the Shadow Systems design, then as far as I’m concerned the latter will be the “Gen 6” upgrade, and I won’t be buying anymore Glocks.😎✌️
Thanks for stopping by David. Being a small channel, I have to work with what I have. I’m not sure the out come would have been much different, but you never know. Take care and thanks for the feedback.
@@shootersresourcechannel642 I hear ya, it’s easy for me to spend other peoples money. I’ve been to Shadow Systems in Plano, Texas. Good people, great product. Good video, I’ll definitely check out more of the channel.😎✌️
This shadow system doesn't look like the one that l saw at Cabelas, the Cabelas model had more accessories but 1,600 price tag is a bit pricey
Glock 45 MOS $699.99 v SS XR920 $869.00 at my local store. Better trigger, barrel, ergonomics/back straps, grips, thumb rest, the beaver tail, magwell…
And better iron sights
My mr920 elite has replaced my 19x pretty much as my EDC
which gun is more flat shooting? I"m trying to decide between a 19 and mr920
@@jonah8133 I've found shooting both with being able to use the 1911 grip on the mr920 that it shoots flatter, more accurate, less flyers
@@dbeardsley0 Thanks for the feedback man
@@jonah8133 No problem
Looks like your frame is doing the reverse of pig nose like mine
well you can buy 2 gen 5 mos for price of one shadow and if you know a little bit and handy with a dremel and a stipple heat gun your gonna be way better off .
and yet no difference, essentially, in performance. The target and timer tell all. As a group we shooters obsess over shit
You’re right. People think…if I can just get a higher undercut, a lighter slide, or better grip I’ll be better. I find if you shoot enough, those things make less and less a difference.
There are some gun or platforms inherently faster or more accurate than others, but subtle changes within those platforms rarely make a difference for me. That could differ from shooter to shooter though.

Very well presented and articulated!🇺🇸🤘🏽🇺🇸🤘🏽🇺🇸
Ambidextrous-> Am-B-Dex-Truss NOT Am-B-Dex-Tree-Us
😁🤣😁
That's not a Glock 19M. I have a Glock 19M and it has extended slide catch
DBS, it says “19M” on the slide. I’ll have to look at the release later on, but I did buy it used so perhaps the slide release was changed.
The shadow system is head and shoulders above the glock
It cost more too and I can shoot my Glock just as well.
Don't the shadw system have Glock lowers?
Shadow System Dr920 Elite jams on me I just bought it new.
Hate to hear that and thanks for sharing. I’ve not experienced that in my time with the DR elite & XR combat. Reach out to SS and see if they can help.
SS says ~200rd breakin period reqd - tighter tolerances than Glock, need a little wear on the moving parts
1000+ shoots like new!
Back off your cover a little bit. Take some angle off your presentation on far side target. Great video. Shadow systems all the way
I prefer Glock 17 cut to 15 round mag
i hate magpull and i love tricking out my owen glock .
And factory glock shit sights
Those p mags are trash. Good thing the xr920 takes Glock mags as those take anything and are metal lined so they aren’t trash.
Just Another brand copying and comparing themselves to Glock. These “other” companies just can’t seem to help themselves. Glock …used in combat more than any other handgun in the free world. And Magpul mags with the shadow systems???? Ha, what a joke! What’s that tell you about a company making an imposter-Glock. Glock OEM magazines are superior to Magpul.
Look, I’m not a Glock-only dude, but I do chuckle at the Glock wanna-bee gun companies.
Glock. …Still winning.
Jesus gramps
Re evaluate your choice in intro music.
Most of those who'd watch this video aren't into that crap.
My channel, my choice of music..
Just kinda simple the shadow systems is just a gen 3 and 4 glock and I'm running gen 5 glocks .
I have heard so many slides cracking from places shaving to much slide cuts . I'll take the glock man just tried and true .
This shadow system doesn't look like the one that l saw at Cabelas, the Cabelas model had more accessories but 1,600 price tag is a bit pricey
You probably saw the Zev OZ9 not the Shadow systems.
