I am a self proclaimed Glock fanboy. With this said, I purchased my first Shadow Systems MR920 elite and was blown away. It’s everything I want in a Glock and more. The sights are perfect, the optic ready system has completely revolutionized the game, trigger is incredibly crisp, grip is close to perfect, and the slide is nothing less than an aesthetic masterpiece compared to Glock. Glock hasn’t done much in the sense of upgrading the platform in a long time and with companies like shadow system and sig taking things to the next level, their profit margin will be the only thing to suffer. That’s because consumers will gravitate to the better options to spend their money.
Sig to the next level? I saw one fail to feed twice at the range…sig fuse to be exact. Yet my Glock has never done that. You can get all your fancy bs that is made to like a Glock but isn’t.
Here’s the thing, 14 years in the Army I can handle a firearm and know what works when my life depends on it. I own a MR920 and love it!! If I’m going to the range or a class I’m taking the MR920 every time, but in a life or death situation I’m taking a stock 19 or 19X every time.
I put 250 rds through my xr920 and when I put in a loaded mag chambering the 1st rd doesn’t usually work on my pmags but with the glock 17 mags i have no issues. But because of that I’m still carrying my HK P30sk until i feel the xr920 is working flawlessly. My son has a glock 45 gen 5 mos and he has no issues with feeding. But like i said i think its the pmags that come with the xr920.
Man! Thanks for that! All you need to do is pick up a Shadow Systems: the weight, the grip texture, the beaver tail, you will buy it; OMG, and the trigger! We bought the DR 920 and not disappointed. Just can't find any Glock that I enjoy shooting. Sorry.
Not to mention the texturing (stippling), magwell, textured ledge, stainless guide rod and more on the SS........ And the best optic mounting system I am aware of requiring no plates because the extractor has been redesigned to not go all the way back.
The Shadow Systems guns are what Glock should've evolved into a long time ago. They didn't evolve, so now companies get to do cool things with their expired patents.
You did a great job. Don't put you efforts on trying to please everybody and don't apologize for giving us your thoughts... thats your opinion. Great content!🇵🇷🔥
I know you didn't do the red dot version but.,. They also fixed an issue with the red dot screws. On striker fired guns, one of the screws has to be short in order to clear the disconnector, this has caused many problems with screws breaking. The Shadow Systems can not only use the same length screws, it uses longer ones which should alleviate the breakage issue. Their mounting system in general is very well thought out. Small but significant change.
I shot Glocks since '99. Two years ago, probably close to when this video was put out, switched over to the Shadow Systems MR920 Combat. I own a total of five, all from the discontinued, (as of 2024), Combat Line. All have at least 1600 rounds through each of them, (not a particularly high round count), and all through PMags. Save for a few FTF's on a couple of them during the advertised break in period, and a warranty trigger replacement on one of the MR920's during said break in period, the guns have run as reliably as any of my previously owned Glocks. As far as I'm concerned these are the "Gen6" upgrade.😎✌
Though it is smooth the trigger breaks so far to the rear. It's a noticeable difference when you shoot a factory Glock all the time then transition to the MR
Got an MR920 combat just like yours (minus mine had black). The gun was listed on gunbroker at a local place for $599.99. I immediately went into the store and they were shocked it was listed as that online and $849.99 in the store. I told them it was no problem and I didn’t need to grab it at a price that was an accident, but they insisted if I wanted it, I get it at the price it was posted and…. WOW. Love it. I actually sent it to Nameless Arms to get a match cut for a new RMR I got. Absolutely love this gun and can’t wait. TLR7a and RMR makes that the best conbo you can get as a do-everything pistol.
Like several others who have commented, I am a Glock fan boy. My son just bought a MR920 and I have to say, I am impressed. I'd love to get my hands on a War Poet edition but I am not finding a lot of them available. Anyway, I still carry my 43X and it is a prenominal gun also. Great content, I'll be following your channel!
A shadow systems is not an upgrade to a gen 5. Unless you’re only concerned with looks and feel. Gen 5 recoil spring assembly feels as though it makes the gun have less than half the felt recoil of an mr920.
I bought a MR920 about 6 months ago, had a few issues with it till I replaced the magazine with a Glock magazine. Since then I have had zero issues whatsoever.
GLOCK - Stick with the GLOCK & NEVER BUY a SHADOW SYSTEMS MR 920 Elite. For those of you who compare the two firearms below is my comment concerning my experience with a Shadow Systems. I also own a GLOCK Gen 5 with a Radian Arms Afterburner and Turbojet. The GLOCK works flawlessly. The Shadow Systems ... that's a different story. Having acquired an MR920 Elite during the end of Dec. 2023 for approximately $1400.00, I have had nothing but problems with the firearm right out of the box. First, the trigger assembly failed after a few dry fires. I sent the pistol back to the factory [Great Customer Service] and received it back to my doorstep in just under a month. I then took the gun to the range two to three times a week counting my shots fired with the MR920Elite considering the break-in suggested by the manufacturer, and when I took the firearm apart to clean the it the safety depressor plunger kept resetting itself, which prevented me from putting the upper slide back onto the lower. Another defect. Again I have to call customer service and have them take this firearm back. Note: I haven't altered the 920 elite in any way. The gun is used just the way it arrived. I am the original owner. No one had fired the gun but myself. I go to the range 4 to 5 times a week; therefore, I am able to test the gun over time to determine if it works as designed. [It doesn't.] I am not a wealthy person, so shelling out $1400.00 on a gun is a BIG DEAL to me. I wish I would have never bought the gun; and, I believe you take a BIG RISK if you acquire one.
ALSO: highly recommend you get the DR920 instead of a XR920. If you have a DR920 and MR920, you can swap slides and frames without issues. No need for an XR when already have the MR. Get the DR and you can mix and match. Basically gives you DR920, MR920, XR920 (DR frame MR slide), and MR920L (DR slide MR frame). That’s as good as it gets there for modularity and doing anything you could want with a pistol.
Nice video. I have an MR and an XR and they are my favorite pistols that I own. Their grip texture and ergo’s is amazing and the shoot extremely soft considering how light they are. I EDC my MR920 War Poet and my XR Elite is my nightstand gun
Shadow systems literally is a Gucci glock. It's a glock based gun with all the most common upgrades out of the box. With that being said, they're priced really well, so they're easy to recommend. I also really like the 1911 style grip back strap.
I personally love Glock's new company moto: Glock, when half-assed is close enough. J/K Glock makes a good gun, but honestly when you buy a gun its all but inevitable that you will start upgrading it. When you look at the cost, its better to just cut to the end with a Shadow Systems then spend $1,400 + to get your Glock to where a Shadow Systems is already at.
Great review!! I absolutely LOVE my EDC MR920 Elite with a Holosun EPS MRS a Johnny Glock flat trigger and a streamlight TLR7-A in a Safariland ALS 7378 love the bronze barrel holding up well. I don’t see myself changing out my EDC anytime soon.
Shadow Systems does it better , but I love my Glocks ( certainly some models 43x 48 improved over old ) . Glock needs to step up there game ( put the new comp trigger in all models and sights right out of the box ) . I’ve heard once Gaston is gone the company will go in a different direction. You tell it how it is Shadow Systems got it right . Nice review.
Apex trigger fixes the glock trigger. I was an HK fan boy until I bought a Shadow Systems XR920 a glock gen 3 platform and now my VP9 sits in the safe. Because i liked my glock clone my son bought a Glock 45 gen 5 mos and he swapped out the trigger for an Apex trigger and now the trigger is good. But you definitely have to love what shadow system has done with the lower with the trimmed down trigger guard and stippling. The only bad thing is the magpul mags… I’m using glock 17 mags.
Great honest video I'm a big fan of Glock 9mm and 10mm versions I own many of them. That being said I also have 4 Shadow Systems guns I really like the total build of Shadow Systems guns I have 3 combat and 1 elite guns.
I would agree with everything you said i’m not a glock fan i jave purchased the g19 gen 2 ,3, and 4… long story short the 3 and 4 are gone as soon as i got the chance to pass it… the 2 i’ve had for 20+ years kinda hate i got 5 drop free mags but anyway i really bought into the 320 line up, compact, x compact, x five, x five legion and m17 … i sold them all this week besides the legion and bought the mr920 w/optic cut gray frame and black barrel, really like it did stovepipe 3 times on the first mag but was fine by the end of the mag so not worried (yet) see how it does this weekend, some parts are interchangeable from what i understand but big diff for me like you said it doesn’t feel like a block (that b is on purpose) it also has stainless slide, barrel and guide rod. i can also throw a dot on there if i go owb if i want really digging it but it’s new. the indexing shelves on the frame are nice for the thumb. i don’t see it completely replacing a 365 but we see, thanks for the vid looks like it maybe my first impulse buy i don’t regret! have bless one
Shadow systems mr920 might be the best pistol I’ve ever shot, if I could only have one pistol the rest of my life is pick one of them. Especially bc they have such cool colorways
Really well done on your breakdown buddy, thank you. The break in period I hear about from friends and internet is one aspect of concern for me on the Shadow. You did not speak to that extensively, so no issues?
Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it! I had zero issues, even through the break in period. Have a buddy with one who had one failure to feed in the first mag and no issues since. These things have made a believer out of me for sure!
All guns have a break in period. Shadow made a video about it on there own channel, I'd recommend checking it out. I've never had issues past the first 200 rounds using three different models
Good Review, Thanks! Seeing how you're an Old Guy and like Old Manufactures. How would you like to compare the Beretta APX-1 along with these 2. The Beretta is getting great reviews.
Would people carry the combat version or the elite version for every day carry? I’m asking because a lot of people say that dust and debris would fall into window cut. I watched tons of videos and a lot of people carry the elite version. What are your thoughts.?
It’s an interesting debate. Since it lives in hopefully a well fit holster I don’t see the cuts being an issue. The fluted barrel also helps keep dirt and debris away from the moving parts. For me I’d be comfortable with either.
I carry the MR920 Elite and the windows do unfortunately allow for dust to build up but when the firearm is discharged that dust exits those windows in the slide
i had some sigs with lightning cuts and never had an issue but if you’re in a dusty environment idk probably be ok if you don’t keep it over oiled or otherwise wet
I Ike my G19 gen 5. My only issue is trigger reach. My trigger finger is a little short. How is the trigger reach on this pistol? If the Glock was even 1/8” shorter it would fit me very well. Thanks. P.s, I have the small blackstrap on now.
At first I was like he's all Walther but this review?? Because I've been checking out the whole Shadow thing. But, I said to myself, well I'll listen and afterward I was like nice! I lived, at one crappy point, close to a railroad tracks. Holy smokes, when a train would come at 2 am blowing that goddanged horn for 2 miles across the city, just absolutely the most enraging thing. That's what the "Thriller" and Jackson are to my ears so...great analogy! As for Toyota, just don't talk trash about my Tundra. Although at 12 mpg, starting to see it as not such a "thriller" anymore LOL! Shadow is on my list.
After knowing, working on, and shooting these firearms. Mr920 beats gen 3 Glock. Gen 5 Glock beats mr920. It all comes down to the RSA. I feel like gen 5 g19 has less than half the felt recoil of gen 3 or mr920. Gen 5 also has marksman barrel (equivalent in accuracy to shadow systems).
Of course they're not clones. Clones are exact copies. I own a Glock 19 and a Shadow Systems XR920. I love both guns. This is how I describe the difference between the two. A Glock is like a Toyota. Reliable and will run forever. Shadow Systems pistols are Glocks with Ferrari parts, more fine tuned for performance.
@@Darks_Onry_N_Mean I actually did snag a shadow systems and have already sold it. I like my Glock 19 gen 5 better. Had a lot of issues with SS, for the price, not worth it
As a Glock fanboy who is currently switching over to shadow systems I agree with you. It's not really a Glock clone. Everything is changed, if it was a clone it would be a much closer to copy. Also there is less parts compatibility from shadow to Glock than any other "Glock clones" I prefer to say shadow systems are "perfection perfected" Most people who but Glocks and change nothing your better off staying Glock. Those that buy Glocks and change really anything other than sights are better off going to shadow systems, or if they plan to run a dot at all, the MOS system is trash. Shadow systems also has fantastic customer service and are gaining more Leo contracts by the day. Incredibly reliable guns especially from such a young company!
@@andrewcramer7214 so is the MR920 they just made improvements ..just like how Glock makes the SLIGHTEST improvements everytime they come out with a new gen
@@nxtcosmic6081 Every polymer framed striker fired gun is a clone of a Glock right? They just tweaked it and improved on it how they want right? Why pick a fight with a 3 month old comment that was actually explained out and not some half assed hot take? I'm out, have fun trolling :)
@@andrewcramer7214 so what if it's three months old I just simply said something in which you replied back etc I didn't know this was a fight, just a simple debate you could've just not replied in the first place 😂
Sorry bro, it’s a gen 3 patent lol. Whatever you dudes think. I got a Sabre dagger and it’s just a fancy upgraded gen 3 Glock. That’s it. Is it reliable? Maybe. Will it work in time of stress? Maybe.. Will my Glock? Damn right it will. Am I a combat Marine Veteran that’s seen action ? Fuk in A I have. Would I take your little shadow systems to war? Fuk no
Don’t be apologetic at all sir, I must admit I was one of the biggest skeptic of Shadow Systems the first heard about them. The whole “Glock Clone” thing just didn’t sit right with me. I figured if you want a “Gucci Glock“ just build one. That’s when I caught myself that Glock simply doesn’t offer that option for its wide fan-customer base. It really changed for me until a buddy of mine pulled up to the range and had one shooting day and had a MR920 threaded barrel with a RMR TRIJICON sight and a Sure Fire light on it. The second I felt that gun in my hands. I know something was totally different from the Glock 19 once I gripped it in my hands with the mag well that I’ve come to find out was stock on it. The first couple of shots was simply magical. It was as if it was my personal gun the way from the first shots I took were all A zone from about 15ft. If your are a Glock fan, swallow your pride and shoot one. You will not be disappointed, it’s simply the gun you’d wish Glock would make from the factory without you having to do so on your own.
Don’t disagree, just really feels like a different gun to me. I Feel like if Glock just started offering some other options they could build up their own platform a bit. Really appreciate the comments and the watch! Thank you!
Almost all gen 4 Glock parts will work in the Shadow Systems. It’s all based around the Glock gen 4 format. That’s why the gun isn’t full ambi. It’s the frame and the smaller lighter slide that makes the SS really great. The SS triggers are mushy with a ton of creep. I don’t really care about that I’m not a trigger snob, as long as it goes bang every time.
@@MunkeySpunk92 hardly. It’s the most battle proven gun (next to the Beretta 92 series) on the planet. You might not like them, and that’s fine, but they definitely don’t “suck.” Lol
I guess ware glock shines is the platform it gives to someone capable of making it perfect for you by dremeling it to suit yourself better the first thing I do is cut my frame I give it a undercut and make the grip be better than any company can do than I give mine some gas peddle cuts and oh screw the man that thought that term was there's lol gas peddle cut oh I said it again .lol it's OK don't cry agancy lol throw some stipple on it and freaking like 6 or 8 hours later I'm done lol but I have some glocks that look like I spent the 2 grand I didn't and just did frame work and there you go know other frame that I can do that to I've seen m&p try and there is ok but for actual levers that you use glock is only frame that gives you the extra polymer in all the right spots to make a better frame out of .glock perfection and I hate glock p mags I have to sand on them to make them work well glock mags just run 100 percent.
I feel the same way about Smith & Wesson. Great American history. But these shadow systems are nice! Glock fanboys can be a mindless rabid bunch. Glock triggers are terrible and feel like a bar of soap in the hands. Basically Corona of guns. Popular but taste like piss without a lime.
The Shadow MR920 The *Glock clone* _In my view._ The _marketing_ claims: - _"Differences?"_ (looks like a direct Glock 19 copy. What the...?) - Improved/better trigger? (that is a huge opinion as striker-fired triggers are very much alike) - Spiral fluted match grade barrel (Glock Marksman barrel will last much longer and be just as accurate) - etc. NOTE: _Why we have a Shadow MR920, Mossberg MC1/2, Springfield Hellcat, SIG 320, etc. etc.? Because of the Glock:_ - *Glock 19* was the number 1 seller in handguns for 2021 - *Glock 19* was the #1 seller in handguns for 2022 - *Glock 43X* was the number 1 seller in subcompact handguns for 2022 What gun will most likely be the top gun in 2023?? That is right and hence if you want a Glock *_buy one_* not a clone. _The Shadow Systems MR920_ - why does the Glock 19 & other guns (HK, FN, SIG, S&W Shield, on & on) out sell it costing much more? *Think about it.* Ignoring the hype & marketing - *_if you are wise_* you already have the answer.

Shadow systems is my favorite grip setup so far
Should have compared the shadow systems with a gen 5 glock
Really well done on your breakdown buddy, thank you. The break in period I hear about from friends and internet is one aspect of concern for me on the Shadow. You did not speak to that extensively, so no issues?
Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it! I had zero issues, even through the break in period. Have a buddy with one who had one failure to feed in the first mag and no issues since. These things have made a believer out of me for sure!
I only have about 300 rds through mine but I had no failures at all so far
All guns have a break in period. Shadow made a video about it on there own channel, I'd recommend checking it out. I've never had issues past the first 200 rounds using three different models
Great honest review!
Good Review, Thanks! Seeing how you're an Old Guy and like Old Manufactures. How would you like to compare the Beretta APX-1 along with these 2. The Beretta is getting great reviews.
Thanks for the feedback and for watching! I would LOVE to do that comparison, very intrigued by that APX! If I can get my hands on one we’ll do it!
Which do you pick if you only have one?
I Ike my G19 gen 5. My only issue is trigger reach. My trigger finger is a little short. How is the trigger reach on this pistol? If the Glock was even 1/8” shorter it would fit me very well. Thanks. P.s, I have the small blackstrap on now.
Would anyone know if the Glock 19 mags work this firearm and if so have you had any malfunctions?
Have used G19 mags without any issues, both factory and aftermarket.
No trash talking brother, especially about a Tundra! That thing will run forever! Lol! Thanks so much for watching and for the feedback!
GLOCK lacks any innovation. Shadow system is not a Glock
What shoots flatter, the 920 or the 19?
@@jonah8133 I’ve shot both and the shadow systems is by far a flatter shooting gun compared to the glock
@@Darks_Onry_N_Mean I actually did snag a shadow systems and have already sold it. I like my Glock 19 gen 5 better. Had a lot of issues with SS, for the price, not worth it
Y everyday Carry is a mr920 with a compensator
I'm a glock fan, but I like my mr920 way better. Just use glock mags though
will the barrel go in the g19 gen 5
Gen 5. trigger is better then your gen 4 trigger that you compared . Do another Vedic comparing the gen 5.
I have a gen 5 g45 and mr920. Mr920 is significantly better IMHO
That’s a great idea and I will see if I can make it happen! Thank you!
The shadow system foundation series is basically the same price as g19. And it’s way better
I bought a Glock 19 the day before the Brady bill went into effect. I hated it! To this day I have never bought another!
Wasn't that in the 80's/ early 90's?
So that was what? Gen 2? Gen 3? I mean I don’t blame you those were fairly trash
I would say quit apologizing so much. Just say it once, and moove on.
I do question reliability. As a range gun, it’s fine.
Shadow systems mr920 is just an overall better gun. If you can't afford it, glock 19 isn't a bad choice.
Are you related to mitch hedberg?
A definite glock clone
Not gonna hate on ya, for not liking Glock. But, I may, for the number of apologies. 😂
That’s fair man! Less apologies, got it! Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
As a Glock fanboy who is currently switching over to shadow systems I agree with you. It's not really a Glock clone. Everything is changed, if it was a clone it would be a much closer to copy. Also there is less parts compatibility from shadow to Glock than any other "Glock clones"
I prefer to say shadow systems are "perfection perfected"
Most people who but Glocks and change nothing your better off staying Glock.
But it is a clone ..they literally said they modeled it after the Glock 19 after the Glock 19 model patent expired it's just a better version of it
@@nxtcosmic6081 the mr918 is yeah, which they no longer make lol.
Lol he didn’t wanna show off the inside. Cuz it’s a Glock clone.
really nothing to see besides the barrel which is nicely done
If it takes Glock mag and shares Glock compatible parts its a Glock Clone. Shadow systems would not be in business if not for copying Glock.
Don’t disagree, just really feels like a different gun to me. I Feel like if Glock just started offering some other options they could build up their own platform a bit. Really appreciate the comments and the watch! Thank you!
Except glocks suck from the factory
Who cares it's a better gun
No way shadow is on the level of Glock stop with the cap
True. Much better.
The Shadow MR920 The *Glock clone* _In my view._
The _marketing_ claims:
- _"Differences?"_ (looks like a direct Glock 19 copy. What the...?)
- Improved/better trigger? (that is a huge opinion as striker-fired triggers are very much alike)
- Spiral fluted match grade barrel (Glock Marksman barrel will last much longer and be just as accurate)
- etc.
NOTE: _Why we have a Shadow MR920, Mossberg MC1/2, Springfield Hellcat, SIG 320, etc. etc.? Because of the Glock:_
- *Glock 19* was the number 1 seller in handguns for 2021
- *Glock 19* was the #1 seller in handguns for 2022
- *Glock 43X* was the number 1 seller in subcompact handguns for 2022
What gun will most likely be the top gun in 2023?? That is right and hence if you want a Glock *_buy one_* not a clone.
_The Shadow Systems MR920_ - why does the Glock 19 & other guns (HK, FN, SIG, S&W Shield, on & on) out sell it costing much more?
*Think about it.*
Ignoring the hype & marketing - *_if you are wise_* you already have the answer.
I see you feel the need to copy and paste this on every video that has a shadow system lol you turd 🤡
Yes. In fact it is a clone
about like cars are clones of horse and buggy’s
