- Unlike perhaps some other videos, I show you realistically what's involved to remove the Honda Civic MK8 for the first time, with tips and things to avoid to help you so you can get a true feel.
I cover each screw and panel that needs to be removed and care required.
In addition there is a little secret tip that will save you time and stress for future work too !
Lastly, I show you how to install a USB, Bluetooth, AUX adaptor, however despite it connecting and plugging in, it did not function for me, but the install remains the same.

Love all the Honda Civic vids, everything I’ve been looking for in one channel for upgrading this model! 🙏🏻
I would love to see you eventually upgrade the radio to a multimedia screen radio

All your videos are great. Appreciate all of them and your explanations. Easy to follow and saved me alot of time. I'm a fairly new civic owner. Love my car. Thank you
Thanks do mush for being so kind, its really refreshing to read such nice comments, it does take me a while to do the videos, as I am only a 1 man team but thats what being a small youtuber is like ! As long as the videos help people and same time and money, thats all I care about. Appreciate you considering subscribing and selecting the bell!
Opel corsa - press a button and the radio hops out.
Honda civic - dismantle the whole car and break some latches while putting it back together. No worries, there are still some left over :)
That's because corsa is for amateurs 😂😂😂
Corsa is for teeange girls
Thanks for the upload I've watched quite a few of these videos and yours was the most clear and concise one. I'll be doing my double din update over the next week.
Thanks for the kind words, if I've helped others then thats all I want from my Channel! let me know if you want any other vids, brilliant if you have chosen to subscribe to thanks!
Great tutorial, managed to remove my mk8 civic stereo without breaking any clips and replacing it with a double din
Glad it helped, thanks if you subscribed to me !
Thanks, that really helped me swapping the radio on my FN2! The "secret" tip will surely save me a lot of time the next time! Next up: indicators.
Absolutely thanks for the feedback
@@GrooveOn and it already saved me time, forgot to reconnect the harzard light button :)
@@misterurlauber333 no way, I did the exact same thing! Well done
@@GrooveOn haha :) so secret tip #2: don't forget to connect the button!
I did pretty much this same thing back when I got my Civic in... um... 2015? I ran the cable for a Bluetooth module through to the armrest as you mentioned, and it fed through to CD/AUX just fine. It's a pity it didn't work for you.
Anyway, I'm here now because I've completely forgotten how to get the all panels off, and I'm about to apply lipstick to an ancient pig by trying to put in a touchscreen retrofit I bought on special offer from AliExpress for ~£150... CarPlay, Google Maps, phone integration, front and rear cameras. Admittedly it'll look a bit weird in a 2007 Civic, but it comes with a right-hand-drive Civic Mk8 fascia replacement, so I figured it was worth a shot.
Thanks for the informative video!
@@tomgidden Cheers for the kind funny words, what module of Bluetooth adapter did you find worked?
It was an unbranded "Car Bluetooth handsfree A2DP MP3 CD changer adapter-Honda Civic CRV 2006-2013" from eBay, not even listed anymore, and even the enclosure was a generic black ABS box without any printing or labelling. The wiring was the special plug running to a generic 15-pin (?) D-plug, so I guess they cranked out many different cables for different cars.
About five years after fitting I realised that it wasn't just the Vol +/- buttons on the steering wheel, but the Ch +/- buttons work as Forward/Back on the iPhone too. I'm not sure if that was a feature that came with an iPhone update or if I'd just never noticed!
When I fitted mine, I thought it was a failure too, but it takes a good 10-20 seconds between the phone connecting and sound actually coming out.
Even once I knew it worked, for a long time I kept fiddling as the BT connecting tended to pause my iPhone, and then I'd wonder if it worked, press something else which would then mess up the whole sequence. What I thought was an unreliable process turned out just to be a sloooow one, requiring patience. If on CD/AUX and the stereo display indicates track 88 or 99 (usually 99) it usually eventually works.
Failing that, I'm afraid you were just unlucky with the particular one you bought. Mine certainly wasn't anything special or high-quality!
Ah, the box itself is identical to the one in eBay item 204289440816; I'm avoiding links, due to UA-cam's auto-moderation. That item's for an Audi, though. It's not the same as the one that comes up for a search for Honda Civic Bluetooth Aux.
When I finally get the stamina to get in my car and fit the touchscreen, I'll get some better details on the working module, if that helps.
@@tomgidden thanks again, I've fitted different devices to different cars with good results, but the Honda is my little computer car, I've not paid too much attention to mods. If you can remember what plug you went into at the back that would be amazing,!
No idea -- it was 9 years ago! -- but I'll take a look when I get it apart. I _think_ I'm taking the whole lot out for this upgrade, so I'll photograph everything; if nothing else just so I can put it back later if necessary.
All goes well I'll have a go this weekend.
Very good tip to be fair 👍
Great video. Fitting car kit today. Think this video will prevent a lot of swearing from me.
Just done this today, thank you for the basic info. However two things:
1) them clips that you broke are push in, they have a middle point which if you push it in the clip comes out with zero effort.
2) I installed the same exact kit as you and as well could not hear anything. But... turned engine on (not ignition) and hey presto works. Call volume is very low though but a2dp is great.
Oh interesting, thanks for that
@@GrooveOn also that module is garbage I will return it. It takes over the whole sound no option to turn it off, so you have no cd no radio no satnav etc. Lapower ones are the best but difficult to find.
@@btnetro thanks I was going to buy again
What module is it? I heard that yatour bta works good and you can even control music with buttons on steering wheel.
@@lucthelittle yatour indeed is good and yes you can use swc
here I was thinking it was a faff on the ep3. this is just something else
Thanks for this video.
You safe me a lot of money from buying the same product.
Did you try another product?
Do you know I haven't yet, but I will find a way ! Keep me subscribed and I'll let you know
Great video tutorial! I’ve been having some issues with my stereo popping and banging (the kind of sound you get when you plug in an aux lead at full volume) I’m thinking it’s a dodgy connection somewhere and been wanting to take the stereo out to have a look so this is a great help 👍🏻
Some electrical components on PCB in radio
have worn out
@@dej_mien4095 I have read elsewhere that it’s probably the radio itself that’s knackered 🙄 would you know if I get the radio out and just unplug it at the back then fit the radio back in I won’t get any problems? I know of course I won’t have a radio but my work around I’m using right now is I’ve taken the radio fuse out but that’s also cut the power to my cigarette lighter
the only consequence of removing the radio and disconnecting it is to restore the radio to its factory settings.
@@dej_mien4095 ahh ok thank you I’ll probably end up doing that then, if it’s shot anyway I’ll just leave it unplugged at least I’ll be able to charge my phone and have the clock display back lol
Having same issue did you find what it was . Seems to be a lot of heat gestated under radio ?
Your videos are tremendously helpful thankyou so much mate 👍🏻
Question, I have a 2.2 2009 4 door and I don't have an AUX under my arm rest. Do you know if I can put in a replacement centre bit with armrest from a car that has the AUX umder the armrest and just wire it up ?
I assume the wires/connectors will be there regardless just like the heated seat connectors are there even without heated seats.
Hi there, I too do not have an AUX socket despite showing on my Radio. I didn't notice a spare loom for the AUX when I removed the centre console though. It would be probably easier to find what plug at the back of the Radio can be used for AUX, then you can plug in a Bluetooth module to stream wirelessly,
Thank mate that was the best one yet on how to get the radio out and more importantly how to get to the radio quickly now with the two bottom screws left out. Sorry the Bluetooth didn't work.
Please update if you got the bluetooth to work with a replacement or different module replacement.
Thanks mate . If my videos help then my work is done🙃. I did the same on my Merc, has the same thing with 2 screws as well. I'll get round to getting that adaptor! Thanks
don't know if the info is still needed...but i got a bluetooth adapter plugged in the aux port and it works perfectly...no unwated noise and the receiver is clear
can you please link the adapter you got@@Olabamiji1
You are my man! Thank you so so much!
No worries, appreciated if you choose to subscribe and all that🤟
Are you going to change the stereo? I hear people have had issues with ensuring steering wheel controls work as well
My rh side drivers speaker has never worked,I always wanted to check the speaker connection but this has put me off!..I bought a blu tooth connecter that plays ok from my phone...
im going to try this ........
Hey have you ever had a wet drivers foot well?
They aren't Pozis, they're Philips head. I'm guessing it isn't an earth cable, more likely bigger battery needed.
Does your boot leak where space saver lives? If not it will. Seal the guttering at the top to prevent it before it does.😊
No leaks anywhere fortunately,
@@GrooveOn can i send you a link with a common fault? Prevention better than cure
@@GrooveOn ua-cam.com/video/aVvwqJ85ArU/v-deo.htmlsi=DZbm23HteuVNwK0V
@@GrooveOn quite a few videos with the same fault. Drying out boot a huge pain, prevention better than cure here.
@@echoecho5244 of course that is very kind, I had a leak on the front, thought it was from outside but turned out to be a badly fitted AC seal. I know the rear seals at the tailgate hinge can lealk.
Fantastic video mate, probably saved me a massive amount of time. My question is (if you can answer it) I've put an aftermarket radio in now the temperature control screen no longer comes on. Does it merely need power ie wire bridging to the stereo? I don't want to spend £70-80 for connects2 loom. Was wondering if you knew anything
Cheers
Thanks for the kind words, interesting that your temperature control doesn't come on, I wonder if it takes power via the old stereo connector and loops through etc? Is it a pain to try and plug in the old stereo and see if the temperature control works again?
@@GrooveOn I should be able to going to try later ill let you know, thank you kindly for the reply 🙏
@@2601johnboy I had a little look into this, it seems that others have had similar issues. Is your adaptor plug a Connects2 ?
First you have to fully plug in both ends of the Connects2 SWC black box (complete the loop). The ISO harness is the last thing you plug in, and should hear a beep.
Maybe unplug just the ISO harness, then reconnect it. Then see if the SWC functions can be programmed.? It looks like all harnesses need to be connected to create the loop and done in an order perhaps?
@@GrooveOn no I was trying to see if there's a bypass rather than using connect 2
I put the old stereo back together as it comes apart in 2 pieces, it seems the whole stereo its a full circuit in itself as the screen came back on when I plugged it all back in, I don't have the patience so may have to buy the connect2 sadly
I had an aftermarket touchscreen stereo professional fitted and I lost my dash display. They said they could of connected it but the wiring kits were expensive so I just left it without, I don't miss it at all
You have android display build in plastic cover to buy with back and front camera 200 £
Very informative video. 👍
Hi there
Thanks for your video, is very helpful.
I have a question.
Yesterday when I'm drive the car, there was a smell of burned cable and then small white smoke coming from the joint of the Air vent, above my red emergency light. I checked and everything is working but still I am confused. Do you know what is the reason?
Thanks
I have the same smell it turned out to be the heater resistor that had gone
I've done another video if you have a look on my channel on how to replace the resistor is quite easy
Thanks a lot !
@@war3405if you buy a resistor on Amazon they have a really good returns policy if you have any issues. When you install it I found it easier to work on your back
where did you get your carbon fibre gear shift panel cover ?
I wrapped it myself
When you got the underneeth radio console piece out did you perhaps see the airbag ecu down there? I was trying to figure out where it is.
It's next to gear stick, this forum should help you... www.civinfo.com/threads/location-of-airbag-srs-module.104164/
@@GrooveOn thanks 👍
did you ever get the bluetooth and handsfree sorted?
No, I need to try again!
Aux is in the arm rest
Nope, thing there mate
Strange. Mine is there.
what a ball ache 😮
I'd find it easier just buying a whole new car with a "pop out" radio
Way too many ads in this vid man ,
Oh really, thanks, will need to check my settings thanks
What a ball ache
you have to use the AUX option on the radio...
My radio doesn't have aux function sadly
Heya. What size are the clips at 4:05 or do you have an ebay link for those so i can get a few spare before doing this myself? And i assume the process is the same for a LHD FN2 Type R, just that the panel which you have to remove is on the left-side. Thanks for the video, very clear guide.
Hi there, the person who had the car previously had removed the original clips unfortunately, however all I did was buy a multi pack from eBay like this.... www.ebay.co.uk/itm/384755260948?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=ss1gbm8atcg&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=hM34COOAS2q&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY. The hole that the clip goes into was about 5mm
