One thing worth mentioning: if your car won't start after you reassemble everything, you've tripped the crash sensor (inertia switch) when putting the triangular panel by the door back in (the panel removed at 1:47 ). You can reset it by removing the panel again, and in the square hole you see underneath you'll find the crash sensor, press the top of it to reset it. Do not be tempted to put the panel back on by thumping it with the side of your fist like you might be tempted - carefully just press it back in, or you'll trip the sensor again. The sensor disables the high pressure fuel pump so high pressure fuel doesn't get sprayed everywhere after a crash, but any good jolt will cause it to trip and you're pretty much banging right on it if you use even moderate impacts to get the clips on this panel back in!
Great video mate, now I am ready to do some surgery in my Honda Civic, this cars will live for ever, thank you very much, greetings from Germany, a Mexican here.
This is one of the best instructional videos I have seen on UA-cam .Well done I will subscribe and order my dash kit and double din set up and get the swear box ready.Great job
+FrightfulAccountant You don't have to go further back than the 90's, replacing the head unit was child's play in my '93 Toyota Carina E. In my 2010 Honda Civic i'll take a couple hours...
My general opinion is that 1) car parts are made to fail faster 2) they are designed to be expensive and difficult to replace 3) The end purpose is to make people buy faster a new car. Cars in the 1970s often were readyy for the scrapyard, just after 8 years. By the 1990s, you could do 20 years with a car, without major cost. The manufactorors had to find a way to keep selling cars at the amount they used to. Nobody wants to pay 600 bucks for a new stereo, when the value of the whole car is only about 3 to 6000...
Here are few tips for assembling the new 2din radio: Beside Hazard switch and venting grills, you need to take off the plastic and metal clips from the old bezel and put them to new bezel. Otherwise it will be loose and not in exact position on the dash. Especially because you may not be able to screw back the bottom 2 screws - I couldnt. Other tip is for the steering wheel controls. To be able to work, order of connecting the harness is important. Hard to explain, but: First you need to connect the control wire to radio and main harness you got with the radio set. Afterwards connect the harness to the car. Additionaly, my new bezel was not perfectly matching with pin positions, so the bottom middle I had to cut off, and for the bottom right I had to cut to increase opening on the dash side. similar like in the video. Good luck !
Welp, I finally got around to do this in my Civic and it was actually easier than expected. I used the proper tools and wiggled the panels loose instead of using force and they all came off with relative ease. The one thing that was kinda difficult was to get the gear lever section out. My Civic is an automatic so the gear shifter can't be moved as much, but with some wiggling and patience I finally got it out. Seems like patience is a key element when doing work like this hehe.
I was struggling tonight to do exactly this. I found my way around the center piece then realized I'd to have remove the piece below the steering wheel but couldn't find a way and stopped out of frustration. Then I went to Google and found this amazing video. THANK YOU!!! Quick comment: in order to unscrew the four screws for the center piece I found it helpful to use an open end wrench (size 8 european) as mine where kinda stuck and I was damaging the screw head with a screwdriver.
Thank you, it was surprisingly hard the first time and surprisingly easy the second. Once you have the clips off, and you use a trim tool ( a set is like a tenner, worth it to save the clips alone) it comes off pretty easily. The twist and turn trick with the screwdriver really helps to get the little clips loose on the top too!. It took me not even 10 min to get it all out the second time.
Brilliant! Was struggling on remove the actual audio unit after having removed all surrounding trim, thought i would log on to UA-cam and actually leave my thanks, the wiggle technique is perfect and was exactly what was needed. Thanks very much guys keep up the good work!
Thank you for your video. I was having some issues with the Parrot Bluetooth kit. The control box was behind the radio unit. I got confidence after seeing your video. I replace the kit all on my own. Now I àm enjoying the music from the stock head units. It just awesome... Hardly it took two hours for me to do it..... Thanks a lot mate! Appreciate it
Having done it last night, it didn't take as long as you'd think! BUT, you will lose your entire clock display/temperature control screen when replacing radio with an aftermarket one
What? thats no good. No way round this....clock not a problem but temp would be bad to loose...is there no adaptors etc to fix this? was wanting to change mine.
I'm just asking because the video quality isn't great to see the details; the unified display which shows the stereo and AC controls, in my car is broken and I'd like to try and replace it by myself. Like at 4:40, if I just remove the flat plastic cover, would I be able to remove the screen as well?
That's what my father thougth 4 years ago when he got the Honda civic -06 that im driving with now. But now we're tuning it, so we can add his old huge subwoofer to it!we're adding a toutchscreen Bluetooth thingy to it!!
Great How To Video guys! Just one quick question, how is the Hazard button stuck onto the fascia? I want to replace mine and was wondering if there's any chance I could mess up my Hazard button
Great video. I will give this a go tomorrow. Are there any tips on connecting aux cable to connect to my iPhone? where would I feed the cable and where would I buy them from? is it a simply phone out on the back of the stereo?
brother my radio is broken but here in my country italy is left hand drive i see that radio in ebay uk but it show left hand wheel it that radio fit to left hand drive? i just need only the radio
Hi, good video I have honda civic 2007 and want to install honda sat nav , please advise is it sensible and doable work Or think to install nexus 7 on dashboard but did not find a location for it (want to ccontrol power shut with switch ) Would be greatful for advice
hi mate, would you know what would cause the central locking control and fan+radio display to stop working after installing a new head unit. everything was working until i plunged the new unit. any suggestion would be deeply appreciated.
Tahir Saqib you have to get a wiring harness for that to work, connects2 sells a kit for this car that is supposed to work with the screen, a/c and steering wheel controls
Great tutorial, how would you go about replacing the display. Mine is all lit up and my radio turns on and off by itself. Not sure if it’s a display issue or a problem with the radio. Thanks
If your display is fully lit up and radio is playing up, it's probably the radio at fault. If segments of the display were missing, then it would be the display issue.
Plz someone tell me whats the type of the hazard lights light bulb? I will replace the stereo but I need to buy the bulb firstly so I have it at hand...
Hi there. Great video!! What type of cable do I need in order to use the AUX function? I'm guessing it's not just a standard audio lead? Also, any tips or advice for the how / where the cable should be routed? Cheers!!
Weird question, but how do you set the clock once you've replaced the stereo? Or do you have to just stick with the time set as it is prior to removal?
David Lister, can be done via the steering controls I think. Hold the mode button till the hours start flashing then use volume buttons to change, press mode to move into minutes then mode again to set.
Wow... fantastic video! like subscribe and thumbs up! I can't seem to find a video for this car to actually connect the aftermarket stereo once I've removed the old one... all the wires are confusing me. Do you have any advice at all? Or is there a video out there for that.. I can't find one out there for the life of me and I'm hoping to try this myself at some point...
Thank you JustSimpleTips. However, is it possible to slide the head unit out without removing the center paneling? I am one of the unfortunate owners of a UK Civic with an AUX function but no AUX jack. Don't really understand the logic behind this.
I`ve got one to look at today with a constant radio suppressor type whistle through the speakers, even with the radio off, I`m REALLY hoping I dont have t take the stereo out after watching this...
Worth pressing a like for this. Do you know if I would have to follow these same procedures to remove the display screen on the dashboard or can I do that separately?

Hi, Great video. Was looking for awhile for this tipe of video how to remove radio. It seems very hard... By the way maybe you were I can find Honda Civic colour code? And how it looks?
Happened to me also, after about 30-40 minutes of driving in car, radio starts to switch on and off, popping starts to be louder and louder. So I replaced it with 2din pioneer today, using this video. I found a tutorial on web, you can actually repair it, but i didnt want to bother. Dont know where to buy all these el. components

Good thing is that there is no need to remove complete engine during radio replacement.
Ha ha fucking brilliant
😂😂😂😂
Just one more bolt.....
@Alexzander Amos You're right, no-one is interested.
One thing worth mentioning: if your car won't start after you reassemble everything, you've tripped the crash sensor (inertia switch) when putting the triangular panel by the door back in (the panel removed at 1:47 ). Thank you sir
Bro you saved me so much stress
THIS! thank you. Just happned to me.
You saved me there mate! Thanks for the heads up!
11 years old video helped me yesterday swapping the radio on my FN2, big thank you!
Great video mate, now I am ready to do some surgery in my Honda Civic, this cars will live for ever, thank you very much, greetings from Germany, a Mexican here.
so, basically, you want to disasemble half the car and change the radio while you're in there
OMG, if ever I need a heart transplant, I’m calling the guy in the video.
This is one of the best instructional videos I have seen on UA-cam .Well done I will subscribe and order my dash kit and double din set up and get the swear box ready.Great job
Back in the 80s, changing a car radio was still a 5 minute job...
+FrightfulAccountant You don't have to go further back than the 90's, replacing the head unit was child's play in my '93 Toyota Carina E. In my 2010 Honda Civic i'll take a couple hours...

Or nicked in 20 seconds lol

Great tutorial mate. Unfortunately that is far too much effort. Will just stick to the standard stereo
Exactly the conclusion I reached. Why would Honda make the stereo so inaccessible? I'm just gonna buy one of those BT to FM gadgets. :-/
Thank you, it was surprisingly hard the first time and surprisingly easy the second.

Note for Honda Civic 2010 owners: the 4:22 thingy can't be removed that easily, theres an extra screw at the side of the driver part! So be careful
Thanks for this guide! I was wondering if there is a place where you can order a plate so i can install a touchscreen radio (double din)?
Perfect video, clear and concise, love it. Thank you so much. I would never been able to install Bluetooth in my girlfriend car without it.
Great instructions thanks for the video. I added Bluetooth adapter to my car. All went smoothly thanks to your vid.
Super Hilfe. Ich musste die Lampe für die Warnblinkanlage wechseln. DANKE FÜR DAS Video

Did the parrot Bluetooth kit work with iphonev
Just replaced mine today, following your instructions, thanks it was a easy step by step process thanks for the guidance 👍
Replaced the radio? Where did you bought ? How much ?
@@tudorica1991 sourced of eBay, can't quite remember how much ,less than £80 but worth it
Is there a video on how to remove the radio display unit that is ontop of the cd/radio player unit?
He did it under 10min! Good job! Wonder how long it will take me? Hmmm..
Having done it last night, it didn't take as long as you'd think! BUT, you will lose your entire clock display/temperature control screen when replacing radio with an aftermarket one

You can get a patch lead from eBay 👍 and all the display works again
try connects2 you can get them off ebay go to there web site first get the part #s and then shop cheaper on ebay

Excellent vid thank you. I also bought a ground loop isolator due to the humming coming from cigarette port when MP3 player was on charge.
Holy moly! I think I'll stick to the CD player :s
Jean V Standard response! haha
JustSimpleTips Well I installed the Yatour mp3 player in my former Corolla, but this one seems quite trickier. I'll certainly do it later, though :D
That's what my father thougth 4 years ago when he got the Honda civic -06 that im driving with now. But now we're tuning it, so we can add his old huge subwoofer to it!we're adding a toutchscreen Bluetooth thingy to it!!
my thoughts exactly!
Thank you for this! I'm changing my radio today, this was exactly what I needed.
C'est tellement simple quand on le voit faire ! Merci pour cette video 👍
Thank you for this video. With it I have successfully removed the standard player with a modern JVC player :D

No sorry.
yes, use a bluetooth to fm transmitter in the lighter socket, bluetooth to your phone and broadcast to that fm band

Thanks for a cracking video, mate. Judging from T-shirt, dzięki appropriate. Not something I will do for the radio, though.
If i just wanted to change tyhe digital clock display, would i need to do all this or do i just need to remove the top panel?
Speedo then top panel
Hello! Do you have a foto of back cd.player? Do it have OUT for subwoofer? Thx!
Incognito icd I’m afraid it doesn’t. You’d have to use a LOC to use a sub with the oem headunit.

There is a reset button on left side of the whole dash open the driver door and see if there a triangular hole, the button is there
Thanks bro. I think I discharged the car battery by leaving the lights on maybe. Not sure. All resolved though. Thanks.
somebody siphoned all the petrol out of your tank when you were sticking your big nose under the dash Ha Ha Ha

Glad we helped.

Thanks for the instruction!
In the next few years Honda will bring out a car where you have to take the engine out to change the radio.

I cant believe that Honda of all people Put such a cumbersome Radio in their otherwise great car
Very BIG thanks !!!!! You help me well !!!

Did they do it , I need it done just wondering if it was successfully done ?
Hi, Great video. Was looking for awhile for this tipe of video how to remove radio. It seems very hard... By the way maybe you were I can find Honda Civic colour code? And how it looks?
Colour code is on the little plate on drivers door frame , and also in the cars book
Spot on thanks v much. Saved me a lot of time 👍
That looks like the biggest mission ever!!!! Surely there’s an easier way? That’s literally ridiculous
My mates stereo light keep going off and speakers make popping sound. Has this happened to anybody else does he need to change the stereo.
Happened to me also, after about 30-40 minutes of driving in car, radio starts to switch on and off, popping starts to be louder and louder. So I replaced it with 2din pioneer today, using this video. I found a tutorial on web, you can actually repair it, but i didnt want to bother. Dont know where to buy all these el. components
