I did a 7-day dry fast two months ago and successfully shrank my prostate which enabled me to remove a Foley Catheter I’d been using for 10 months. As I write this I am currently doing a 2-day dry fast. I intend to do this periodically for the rest of my life.

I'm 63 at the present and while I can't tell you exactly how large my prostate was it WAS large enough to completely block urine flow, so much so that I was forced to use a Foley Catheter. I tried a number of things to no avail until I happened upon a channel here on UA-cam called 'The Phoenix Protocol'. I dry-fasted for about 7 days going from 152 lbs at the start to 132 on the last day. No, I did not eat salt, a dry fast is exactly as it sounds - no food or water. At the end of the fast I was able to remove the Catheter for good after 10 months.

Love that this info is coming out! I’ve worked my way up to doing dry fasting, for up to 36 to 40 hr + Dry fasts for the past 3 years (nearly every other day). My body now knows what to expect. Remarkably The Masses, have been brainwashed into an eating disorder of 3 to six meals a day. I feel better now at 70 than I did at 45.. I’ve found on this fasting journey. That you don’t know that you feel good, until you really feel good!! Results is all that matters! I’ve realized that the Gluttonous consumption of food provided by the system. (Whom work hand and hand with Big Phama.) Is the Root cause of so much disease. The masses need to break the 3 meal a day spell… 1st step in taking responsibility for your own health.
1.Breakfast is not the most important meal of the day 2. Never purchase anything from a drive thru window 3. Never consume anything packaged or advertise on TV…
Get out in the Sun, put your bare feet on the ground and keep moving!
    Keep on Spreading the word!
    Peace…

I’m a fan of dry fasting, currently on my 62nd hour. I’d say that breakfast is important and to intermittently fast from late afternoon on through the next morning. Because morning food is a non-photonic zeidgeiber (time signaling) to hormones. Both sunrise sunlight, movement and food stimulate morning hormones to release. I don’t like breakfast from a lifetime of improper habit forming around improper IF advice. Now I know why skipping breakfast is improper and try to change it. Eating at night is not necessary and in fact unhealthy. We have less insulin available at night.

This is my 22nd day of fasting (Ramada) and don’t eat or drink anything from 4:30 AM to 7:55 PM. I fast for almost over 16 hours. I was fasting for religious purposes only but when I found Dr.Jason Fung explaining the health benefits of fasting, I changed my diet too. I also added walking in my daily routine. The
results are amazing. I overcame on two health issues and cured them through fasting. 1- Pre diabetes. I had Pre Diabetes two years ago and now it’s completely reversed and I even don’t think about it. My Hba1c dropped from 5.8 to 5.3 and morning blood sugar is in upper 80s. 2- High blood pressure. With Diabetes, I had high blood pressure of 162/135 which was terrible. Life was just like hell but now 113/72. Today’s blood pressure reading was 109/69. Fasting saved my life and I will keep fasting even without Ramadan. It really helps.

I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and we fast once a month on the first Sunday. Nothing to eat or drink for 24 hours. Kids and families do this together. Kids usually start around age 8. The best way to get through a dry fast is to have a reason. We fast with purpose and prayer. That purpose is stronger than the food or the drink we are avoiding. You all know fasting is a brain game. If you have a strong reason or purpose then your fast will be easier. At age 13 I went for 3 days while I was fasting for a friend. The LDS church does not recommend this, which I didn't know at the time. I did perfectly fine. A little girl told me she writes her reason or purpose on a piece of paper and when she thinks she's hungry she reads the paper and then she's not hungry anymore.🙏❤ Fasting has been such a blessing to my life.

I am giving this feedback respectfully, I am an OMAD person with defined cheat days. I am also 76. In my crowd, I live in a town on Vancouver Island with some of the best weather in Canada. Translation: although my town is not a gated elderly community, it is a town where Canadians come to retire to get out of the snow, which is almost all of Canada. We have one of the best off leash trails in North America with grand old very tall pine trees, kind of like walking in Stanley Park if you have ever been to Vancouver BC. And in this park, it's about almost all seniors with a smattering of "others." This means we are very social in these trails and of course discuss among other things our health, more than the average non-retired people.
As you know, the studies carried out on those over 70 are few and far between compared to the younger age groups. And a chart I recently saw illustrates this problem oh so very well. It was an OMAD chart for weight loss. The age brackets were something like 20 -29, 30 - 39, 40 - 49, 50 - 59, 60+. Apparently according to this chart, body metabolism and everything else biological in our body is the same at 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100. I don't know how many medical commentaries and charts I see out there stop at age 65. I guess we don't really exist. Sadly, the truth is we aren't a priority in most studies.
I and my friends who walk in the above off leash dog park (average age 77) all have problems with muscle cramps. When I began OMAD, they got worse. The one treatment that has worked for myself and two of my friends is to increase water intake, I ingest approximately 8 or more tall glasses of water everyday. My breakfast is three glasses of water. [On a side note, my dry eyes symptoms really responded to the increased water intake, I still have symptoms but they reduce roughly 80%] The cramps disappeared when I and my two friends drank more water.
I did wonder if I was in a slight electrolyte imbalance due to OMAD. I do take supplements but considered an electrolyte powder without sugar in it but when the water improved my symptoms I decided against the powder.
With Ramadan, you have generations upon generations doing this ritual so I suspect their body has adapted to decreased water intake during their fasting. This is me just saying, reduced water for the elderly could increase or bring on cramping.

      @Khwaab Місяць тому +1

Hi mr.Rick. It´s lovely to read about your little corner out in Vancouver island. It sounds idyllic! I´m a Muslim and have fasted since I was allowed to, somewhere in my early teens. I wanted to share something, as you mentioned elderly people and Ramadan. The Islamic rule is that pregnant women, those menstruating and pre-pubescent children aren´t allowed to fast. As for the elderly, it is voluntary. I know several Muslims 70-85 who still fast though, because they love the "holiday" of Ramdhaan and feel like they´re missing out on the spiritual benefits if they don´t. In fact, we had to encourage one elderly aunty to stop fasting because she was pre-diabetic, and we reminded her that there´s no sin for her in not fasting...but she refused. It´s her favourite time of the year.
So yeah, sometimes it´s difficult to convince the elderly to stop, even though they are expiated from fasting according to religious rules. Ramadan is an incredibly powerful month, so most Muslims have a personal relation to it. We experience our little miracles during it. It usually takes 3 days to "get over" the initial phase, but after that, the appetite shrinks and the stomach feels almost shrunken. But those are just the physical effects. There´s much more that goes on in the mind and soul. I wish I could explain it well. Fasting is very much a willpower and mind-over-matter game than what non-fasting people think. Sadly, a lot of Muslims treat Ramadan as a feast, but more and more are now waking up to not doing that. Many are realising the connection with self-control, personal discipline and spiritual clarity. I think it´s great that non-religious people are discovering it as well!

Before incorportating the dry fast, I was doing a 48-hr water fast instead. Since adding the dry fast, I am experiencing way less bloating when I eat. My gut just "feels" better. Dry fasting in general is way easier than I thought it would be, but I will say this... I do struggle with fatigue the first morning and going into the afternoon of dry fasting. Since when I eat, I also incorporate a healthy carb day into my schedule, I allow myself to kick myself out of ketosis. I "think" the fatigue could be related to my metabolism switching back into ketosis....or as some other experienced dry fasters have told me, it also could be due to my body doing some healing. Whatever the reason, by the evening I am over it and feel awesome. :)

I experience more energy than with any other type of fasting, my mental acuity surges as a result of dry fasting, it is the fastest way for me, personally to get back into Ketosis if I am out - especially if I have been out of Ketosis for a week or more. As you mentioned here, I have no cramps with dry fasts but when I wet fast, I almost always have cramps for up to 3 days after the fast no matter what electrolytes i consume during the wet fast.
I do monitor health markers such as BP, Pulse, Pulse recovery rate and blood sugar when doing all fasting.
For me, Dry fasts embedded in the middle fo a wet fast is the best - even if it is only 12 hours wet, 24 hours dry, 12 hours wet yields the absolute best results with the least break-fast worries.

I think you are absolutely correct about the holding on to water. My country gets to 52+ C in the summer and when we fast ( Ramadan) under those conditions you are thirsty and your throat is dry but we are not camels so we can’t really store water. The best we can do is drink a glass of water and have some full fat yogurt before sun up. What I noticed is as the days go on, basically 5 days into the fast the thirst goes away. Seriously, I just assumed my body acclimated to the water reduction. After listening-to you that’s not really the case, it’s that our bodies are basically amazing and god is good. Thank You Mindy.

As a Muslim I dry fasting every Mondays and Thursdays plus on 13th-14th-15th of luna (ever month)and let not forget the month of Ramadan fasting plus there's many more fasting in the 4 holy months of the Islamic calendar (luna) these months are (Dhu al-Qadah, Dhu'l-Hijjah,Muharram and Rajab. It is said (known)that if you (one) fast for 3 days every month it is has fasted a lifetime 1×10= so just 3 days fasting you'll gain 30 days fasting. I mean it's not plain sailing and you get good days and also bad days like when you feel weak and hungry you just break some of these optional voluntary
Fasting, such as our prophet Muhammad (saw) did on some occasions. Keep on healing the world dr mindy, because there is nothing like fasting benefits -spiritual awareness etc.

I have several health issues I am trying to get natural healing for, so had a REASON for sticking with the dry fast. The third day, I experienced a very great clarity in worship & prayer to the LIVING GOD, and a very sweet spirit of serenity & calmness.
As you said, Pete, "Boy, I had no idea how good water could taste..." LOL 😆 The last several hours were the hardest for me to do without water. After my 72 hrs were completed, I started drinking purified water slowly.

It produced almost 3 gallons of Watermelon juice, so I drank Watermelon juice exclusively for the next few days. I also have experience with fasting from the past. My dad and my husband's mum they have experience with longer fasting too - and also she was fasting all her life and she didn't listen to people who pushed her to eat breakfasts and she was thin all her life. But I personally - I didnt listen to her. I hed been trying to be healthy and tried like to eat 5 times per day... running 10 km per day... and what? I got fat and tired... Why? Because I am usually very skeptical of diets and overall I needed a proof in science. And that is what I got from you, a very detailed explanation. People around me usually can't speak English so they don't understand your videos. So when somebody asks me how I did it - I am sooo excited to learn them about fasting - as a friend, not as a professional - but I spread your knowledge as a cofighter. I think I have a very good understanding of the core of fasting. So I tell people - it is not a diet, it is a return to natural eating. Thank you very much!!!!!!

Many people do not realize that that remaining loose skin hiding their abs is not all fat and it's not all water, but rather some messy mixture between the two. I'm gonna do this dry fast for two days and see what happens. I've exhausted all other options. I've cut out the carbs, walked for countless hours, done intermittent fasting, did the HIIT thing and now doing 36 hour fasts. Evolution just doesn't want older men to look good. The only concern I have about dry fasting is should I do cardio? Cardio requires water. I think I'll lay in my bed while I don't drink any water for 24 hours and see what happens.

Just finished a 48 hour dry fast. One crucial thing people must be aware of before trying is to make sure you have kicked any caffeine habit. That was what did not work for me when i did a dry fast about a year and a half ago: big headache that was very uncomfortable going into the first night. I would say be off caffeine for at least a month or two before trying. Otherwise, this recent dry fast was very easy. I would say it’s actually easier than water fasting. I highly agree with the electrolyte issue resolution from this type of fasting, this fast corrected some electrolyte issues I was having with cramping in my legs. Also, I did feel the effects of vasopressin: one other thing to mention about vasopressin is that it encourages you to take risks more. When you consider it, it makes sense: the body will be constantly looking to improve your overall strength so that you can find food and water soon, and it also is encouraging you to maybe try some new things! Hahaha: like ‘hey pal! Maybe try a different hunting technique here, it could help the both of us out!’

On average there's anything from a three to five day absolute 'dry' fast.
Christians are enjoined not to make an open show of fasting, so it is not obvious as we go about daily life fasting without creating a guilt trip on any group.
The key us prepartion, reduce caffeine, eat gut friendly foods, cruciferous vegetables, keep hydrated etc before commencing the fast. Taper off the quantity of food & continue with regular hydaration, cut out processed foods. Just the common sense stuff.
      Hope this helps.

I'm on my 3rd day, of my 5 day dry fast. I feel much better than the first 2 days. My legs feel lighter already, and my brain fog is gone. I am feeling a little lethargic, but not as much as ai did on the first 2 days. I am hoping to go 5 days, because I did a 6 day dry fast a year ago, that was quite a journey, and I had amazing results. My goal this time is to cleanse my body of toxins, get rid of sugar cravings, and the edema in my legs, also to dissolve fat stores. I'm 100 pounds over weight, and at 66 that is quite a toll on my body. I want to discipline my body to get rid of fat. I want to be as healthy as I can be at my age. This is my second dry fast that I have ever done, I did my first dry fast about a year ago, I dry fasted for 6 days, and it was quite an enlightening experience. Thanks for letting share my story.

I did a 3 day dry fast and I had to stop because my lips were turning too dry. When I finally put some water in it felt really dense and could feel it going down. Not sure if I'd do it longer than 3 days but I got a huge amount of energy the day prior.

Hello, Dr. Pelz. Great content. In an effort to get healthy and get rid of obesity, I've been doing OMAD for a few months. I love it. But I've recently added a workout regime to my routine. Was wondering what advice you'd give when working out after a 12 hour dry fast. Should I time the fast so that I drink water before my workout?
