    NOTES:
    5-Day Dry Fast
    10 participants
    Results:
    -short term anti-oxidant, anti-ischemic, anti-inflammatory effect
    -immune stimulating
The results of this study may have an impact on developing new concepts for the treatment of edema, obesity, and inflammatory and ischemic diseases.
    1. What does dry fasting do?
    3 things (Autophagy, Electrolytes, Vassopressin)
-The most intense form of autophagy, breaking down all proteins and rebuilding them stronger
    -stabilizes electrolytes
-20% increase Vassopressin stimulation - hormone that retains water
-Vassopressin effect on heart & mind : In experimental models of cardiac arrest, vasopressin increases blood flow to the heart and brain and improves long-term survival compared with epinephrine.
    2. What can we grab from this study?
600% increase in cortisol don’t do long or before the a woman’s cycle. Reminder: Ramadan 12-16hrs
-Increased benefits that other fasts don’t bring, so throwing one in now and then can be beneficial.
-the body is miraculous when given short acute periods of stress
According to a study, 240 healthy adults did Ramadan fasting 158 of them were men and 82 were women. They fasted for 20 days and every single one of them lost weight. Here is the explanations:
When you are not drinking water, you force the body to go and find water to burn. The cells that have the most water is fat cells. When you dry fast, your body will be focusing more on fat cells, and burns more fat. This is because your body is going to search for water along with all other amazing things it going to do.

I credit Dr. Mindy for my finally learning to lose weight. Fasting has never been a challenge for me; being religious, fasting is practically second nature. In spite of that, visceral fat clung to me with prodigious tenacity. I gathered enough keys from her to finally achieve a major breakthrough. Now, I’m confident I have control over my weight going forward.

You are blessed if fasting is not a challenge! It's a challenge every time for me but Doctor Mindy put it in perspective for me when she said something like 'fasting is the reward and not eating'. I have been called to a 40 day fast way back in 2016 for spiritual reasons and clarity however I never made it to 40. There were some 3's, 4,s, 7,s, 10 with the longest being 26. Day 26 I was making my dog her whole organic chicken. When I pulled that bird out of the oven and saw that chicken liver I could not resist. To this day that is the best food I have ever put in my mouth EVER. I think I cried. The 26 day fast was in 2019 and since then I've done a few 3 day fasts but again I was gently NUDGED to do this 40 day fast. I started November 30 which means I will not have food the whole month of DECEMBER! I love it. I don't think there is a better time to sacrifice and crucify the flesh! Thank GOD for DR MINDY'S videos!

Please, people that are reading this, do not be fooled. It's near impossible to dry fast for a week straight. Humans die after 5 days of not drinking water. Whoever made the comment either didn't explain themselves well or is straight lying.
Do not harm your body by doing extreme things to it, dry fasting is amazing but it can be dangerous if you do it wrong. It's best to do dry fasting over shorter periods of time like from sunrise to sundown or for 12 hours a day.

    • @penelopepittstopP
      @penelopepittstopP Рік тому

@@abdelhak_13 that is false. Many people have dry fasted for weeks. I have not been able to get past 48 hours but there are a bunch of variables. If one is skinny with little fat then perhaps it would/could and probably is dangerous but our bodies TELL us. We need to stop relying on the "professionals" at this point because many are liars or deceived themselves. We should know this over the last 3 years of deceit. Listen to your own body and do what's best for you. Don't be afraid to fast or dry fast.

I'm a binge eater and I've found that intermittent fasting is the answer for me. The longer I hold off with my first meal of the day, the less I eat. I no longer think about food all day because I know it's not an option until my "window." After years of unsuccessful diets and counting calories, I'm finding that intermittent fasting is the bomb! Today I will try a dry fast. Thanks for all you do!

I have more than 30 years in diferent types of fasting, from 1 to 21 days, both water and dry fasting. My max dry fast was 5 days, however I’ve been on a 20/4 dry IF on a daily basis plus every several days (7-10) I switch to 40-44h dry fast for at least 2-3 years. Before that I practiced mostly water fasts.
In my experience, dry fasting is much easier to handle, it really feels fantastic. Also, the skin looks fabulous and the mental clarity and physical fitness is superb.

I was planning a 36 hr water fast this week but after watching the videos on dry fasting I thought I'd include it in the 36 hours. I dry fasted for the first 20 hours and I felt pretty good other than a very mild headache. After I broke my dry fast with a large glass of water I became more aware of my hunger and realized that the last 20 hours I hadn't really felt hungry at all. I think I will now be including some dry fasting into my lifestyle. Btw I love the research and new information on this channel.

I just want to say, be careful when dry fasting, and don't drink large amounts of water when you first break the fast, it's not good for you and your electrolytes balance. Just start with one glass, then another after at least 30 minutes and so on until you don't feel thirsty anymore.

@@samsmom400 As a Muslim, I have to agree. Yes, many do - but it's not what the religion teaches. Put it down to human nature. Still, fasting that way (gorging oneself at night) might not be as easy as some people think! Doing it for the entire month, I mean. In fact, many non-Muslim fasters would probably do the same, I think (gorging themselves after breaking the fast).
By the way, Islam teaches several different fasts, not just Ramadan. There's a one day fast done twice a week (Mondays & Thursdays); 3 day fasts done once every month; 10 day fasts once a year just before the pilgrimage; etc, etc. But these are all optional. But for a devout Muslim, he/she will certainly have a fasting lifestyle - and unlikely to be gorging himself/herself!☺

Supposed to calm you something to do with how the moon effects our mood and makes us “ crazy” lack of a better word. In edition, they fast every Monday and Thursday and 2-3 other days related to religious reasons. Ramadan plus these extra days is supposed to increase t- cells or white blood cells I am very sorry I can’t remember just know it’s an immune boost. According to Russian Dr. Filonov who has been researching dry fasting for many years, you should never go into a dry fast following a water fast... can start with dry then move to water, but not the other way around... not sure re: reasoning behind this but I trust his advice due to extensive experience he’s had with it. Yesterday I did a 14 hour dry fast, from 10 at night until 12 noon , I felt fine. I just did my normal IF today to make sure it was all ok. So tomorrow another dry fast probably all week, or more. about 14 hrs each day. thank you.

Sorry to disappoint you, but fasting starts 8-12 hours after the last food consumption. Provided you ate at 10 pm and given that during night time our organs and metabolism slows down, your fasting didn't have time to kick in. Such a misbelief that you can eat before bedtime and just because you don't eat in the night you're fasting....

  • @drivingteacher786

As a Muslim we do it once a year. Initially you do loose weight, however vast majority of Muslims unfortunately are not doing it for weight loss but as a spiritual reason. Now that I have been doing KETO, I am actually looking forward to Ramadan in April 2022 as I'm trying to loose weight. My plan is simple before sunrise a glass of water with some salt. When I break fast after sunset it will be purely KETO and that will be my only meal. Dry fasting is very powerful, I know this and that's one of the reasons OMAD and IF was very easy to do. However KETO wasn't and that's the missing link regardless of weather you do Dry fasting, Omad or IF. Wishing everyone the best of luck in there weight loss journey. Thanks to Dr Mindy, Dr Fung, Dr Ekberg and Dr Berg I have been convinced by the knowledge of Keto and fasting, which I took for granted on Ramadan but took me a while to realise the real success is what you do EVERY day.
I have gone from 110kg to 90kg at 6ft under a year without excersises and finally drawing to my goal of 82kg!!!!

Don't you binge eat every sundown though. My friends used to day but eat so much at the sundown meal.

Well ...i would not count that in proper fasting . You are basically eating 2 meals a day with 12 hours window gap . That is like eating normally. Many brown family does that on regular basis .
Fasting is actually when you dont eat anything for 24 hours . Ramadan is definitely not fasting .

In in Islamic calender, there are three month of continuous dry fasting which started this month and will run through April. Ramadan is the most popular and obligatory which is starting April 2nd to May 2nd. There Rajab, shabbat and then, Ramadan. I have been doing this since February 2nd

I did 12 hour dry fast since last night to this morning. I will try to do longer from tonight and then after that throughout the week. I think from night to morning while sleeping is easier than the ramadan fast for me.

Hi Dr. Mindy, love the channel. I'm currently doing at 22hr dry fasting routine. In my two hour window I drink about 750 ml of watermelon juice, eat my dinner and drink 750 ml of water. Any thoughts on this, is it a good idea to break the 22hr fast with the watermelon juice

I don't think that's a good idea if you're trying to lose weight. Break it with water and maybe electrolytes, fruit juice is too sugary

Is dry fast safe for a 56 year old woman already doing 17 hrs. water fast daily and OMAD a couple times a week on very low carb, Dr. Mindy? What pattern do you recommed? I drink 2 liters of water everyday day when fasting before eating window. I really don´t feel many benefits from it. My energy is kind of low and feel brain fog sometimes. I am healthy and my weight is fine. Thank you!
