My fasting hack is to declutter and reorganise my home. I pick a drawer, a rail, a shelf, a box, a bag or a cupboard and I start throwing away anything broken, stained or useless! Then I fill a box or bag with anything I don't need, use or want, to give away. And anything else gets put away in the best place for it to be. (Throw Away, Give Away, Put Away) It absolutely takes my mind off feeling hunger, takes hours longer than I think it will and extends my fast painlessly and productively ;-)
My home is losing excess weight too. lol.

I have been fasting for 2 years. Lost 20 kilos. Now I do 48 hours every 15 days. One tip to get my mind on my side is to dedicate the fast to someone. This way I don't break it untimely. The person could be your loved ones or someone who is ailing.

    1. Stabilize blood sugar PRIOR to beginning the fast.
    2. Make the decision every day on how long you will fast.
    3. Am I hungry? Or is my brain just telling me I need to be happy? Change your state of being. Walk, listen to music, watch tv etc.
    4. Stay BUSY. Nap if you can
    5. Know your Hacks eg. Fastonic, iron biome, mineral water in a wine glass…
    6. Watch your mindset

I don’t know why but I actually like the feeling of hunger when I am fasting. I have a history of binging in years past and alternate day fasting has helped me totally regain control of my eating. For once in my life I feel in control so I look forward to hunger pangs because I tell myself that it’s ok because my body will break off some of my body fat. Even though the hunger is there, I do not feel the need to binge. I know my next meal will be here soon enough and So I can wait it out.

One example dinner for me would be Salmon (with garlic, lemon juice, pink salt, cayenne pepper, EVOO) asparagus with Parmesan, & cauliflower rice. I have this at least once a week. The rest of the week I switch up the meats and veggies. I get totally full and I’m happy! May sound crazy, but if I can take a walk, it helps. I think the moderate cardio creates a subtle increase in ketones and decrease in blood sugar, suppressing hunger. In fact, having been diagnosed diabetic before going keto, I start my mornings-especially fasting-with a walk.
Apple cider vinegar (1 tbsp in 8oz water) also helps suppress hunger, and that's great first thing in the morning, too. I put 1 tbsp lemon juice, 1/2 tsp NoSalt potassium chloride (in the salt section of your store), 1/4 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp baking soda in it too. This is a good time to supplement magnesium also (magnesium glycinate, magnesium malate or magnesium threonate-the glycine in the first is relaxing, magnesium malate is a mild stimulant, magnesium threonate delivers magnesium to the brain, uniquely.)
These make the biggest difference to me. I think restlessness while fasting are often an electrolyte imbalance. If it's insomnia, then the magnesium glycinate may help.
One more thing: try to avoid magnesium citrate. It'll can cause you to empty your colon! If you aren't prepared for it, you may have a mess when you least expect it.

I just finished a 90 hour fast (6 hours short of 4 days). The first 3 days were easy and I WAS, like dr. Pelz, working very hard at my desk, very busy. But I had no dizziness or light-headedness. On 2 of the days I even cycled about 75 minutes a day. The 4th day was a bit harder and I became tired and a bit listless, so lay down twice during the day (broke the fast at 6pm evening). I think the only reason the first 3 days were easy was because of lots of practice in shorter fasts since 6 months ago. I have already done 3 fasts of 3 days, and intended here to do the same, but decided, seeing I was doing so well, to see if I could do a 4th day . . .Nearly did, but stopped 6 hours short of 4 days. 90 hours. Stabilize blood sugar first
Keep fats high, carbs low #1
Decide before you start, tell yourself how long you will fast. ie 15 hour fast***
Food changes our mental state. Mind just says I want to be happy.
State changers tell yourself now I will Dance etc..
    Stay busy***
Know your hacks. .first physically then emotionally. Fastonic tablets. …
    Ion biome
*mineral water in a wine glass
    Watch your mindset-just acknowledge them.
Celebrate your wins. Put something out in front of you after fast. Like reward with buy a new blouse. etc..

Hunger is a temporary feeling but it is a blessing. It helps to remind u that when ur hungry if u break the fast it will actually feel worse to eat then to keep fasting , the thing that makes fasting difficult is the fatigue , but there are ways to breakthrough it and access supernatural energy through the Word of God. also u wont be hungry forever the feeling will go away . it may come back at times in waves but u can use that as a reminder to pray. When u fast and pray and read Gods word the Bible , you are actually feeding your spirit .When you Pray and Fast the way God intended Miracles tend to happen . Your more connected to Jesus Christ the One and Only true God . I dare you the person reading this that the next time you fast to Pray to Jesus Christ and to read the bible . i Guarantee you , you will experience something Supernatural . Seek the Lord while he may be found . Repent the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand .

Very helpful advice. I’ve been fasting since the age of 10 during Ramadhan. This taught me over the years that it’s not the end of the world when we go without food.
In my early 50’s, I started intermittent fasting and built up gradually.
When I was menopausal, I gained a colossal 20kg which is around 44 lbs. I’ve been slim all of 13:19 my life as I was a professional ballet dancer with the Paris Opera Ballet. I’m now a teacher for the same company. I’m 1.68cm tall and was an active 47kg, around 103 lbs. I had back ache, pain in my right hip and knee, due to the added weight. I eat a Mediterranean diet throughout my life but menopause was a shock!
I’ve tried and failed sometimes during intermittent fasting. I now have strategies to keep me on track, especially ballet photos of me and the corps de ballet and this is a huge motivation for me.
Losing weight after menopause is very difficult but the solution for me is to focus on how I feel if I fall off the wagon. I lose confidence, I don’t want to socialise and become sad when my clothes don’t fit me.
Intermittent fasting is tough but the benefits are out of this world. I do 3 day fasts, switch to 20 hour fasts for 2 days and go back to 3 day fasts. It’s the only thing works for me.
Thank you for your advice and tips, they help a lot of us. 💕

I've lost 40lbs this year due to fasting, its a fascinating practice, it's a great start to reducing weight if you're obese and likely sedentary, and then (like I am) once you plateau you finally get into the spot where exercise is your next step, and you've already made serious improvements. I think that's a recipe for progress. Getting food urges down is a great first sort of problem to figure out.

Week and do a shorter fast 2 days a week to give myself a mental break. I eat only salmon, fruits, and healthy beans. The two days im not so restrictive I allow myself to eat whatever i want. I drink liquid IV on super restricted days. I feel like doing this is 98% mental for me. I have completely changed my mindset and focus on why im doing this. Every time the hunger comes, i remember another amazing dr.wrote on IF, "Ride the waves" so I just let the hungry sing in my belly, coz it will come and go, just ignore it..
One think can do is while hungry or becoming fatigue or dizzy, take a pinch of salt in warm water and drink it. Or just put straight away on your tongue if you like it. They will go away..
Everytime i think to give up from IF and keto, i come to listen to these amazing doctors whose fighting for IF for the societies, though they were being criticized by the food industry manipulators. They made me motivated again and again. Thank you to these Drs including Dr.Mindy who are amazing! I couldn't thank you more..God bless you❤

You mentioned this as part of your third tip, but I think for new fasters that it should be emphasized and explained; your hunger will go away on its own if you just wait (do nothing).
When I began fasting, the pattern for me was when I felt hungry, I ate. If I didn't eat right away, my hunger increased (a more urgent signal to eat). I didn't have any experience with NOT eating when that signal was received, so I didn't realize that the hunger wouldn't CONTINUE TO INCREASE until my willpower inevitably gave out. After I figured out that hunger comes in waves that it can be ridden out until the hunger disappears was helpful to me.
However, there is some suffering that goes along with trying to ride out the hunger wave on willpower alone, so you're tips are great for mitigating the amount of suffering that must be endured.

This is so helpful thank you and exactly my experience around 11 am this morning when I was cold and feeling a bit low. My mind started signalling images of warmed Italian bread (I had some in the fridge that could be heated) and for a while that seemed to be the answer. Hmm, I'd been intermittent fasting successfully for a while and really didn't want to blow it now so got a hot water bottle and a cup of coffee (with some cream) and nearly an hour later feeling fine again, that moment has passed and I'll eat as usual around 6 pm this evening. :)

I agree! As an alternative, a 3-month supply of Dr. Berg's electrolytes is a little on the pricey side ($44?, so $15/month) but worth it. Very high quality. No stevia or any sweeteners like her LMNTO recommendation. A pricey glucose blood monitor is not needed unless you have diabetes or some other condition. You can get ketone test strips for cheap and other things on Amazon. They are as accurate as the blood meter. Btw, with her glucose-ketone meter, you have to buy more sharps and strips after the initial supply runs out.
When hungry, weigh yourself. The satisfaction of weight loss is huge motivation to continue on and forget hunger.

    Dr. Mindy talks about
Deciding how long to fast or commitment.
In the military they talk about committing our troops which is another way of saying if things get rough? Commitment means we are not pulling out no matter what! 😀
Non-commitment means I can always back out or quit.

Hi Dr. Mindy, I don't know if this will work for anybody else, but I was praying about this. Asking the Lord how can I make it through this. He told me to pretend that I've eaten. So at breakfast time I pretended I ate a big breakfast, and I mean a big breakfast and I felt the feelings you would feel of being full. At lunch and dinner I did the same thing. It was one of the easiest days I ever had. Not sure it will work for everyone but I thank God it worked for me.

I cook all of our meals from scratch also, I find if I cook multiple meals at a time it helps. Everyone can just get things then when they are hungry. One of the things I had to break was the thoughts that we had to eat at specific times, by the clock. Now everyone just eats when they're hungry and it's much smoother and easier. I know many people think it's just weird and you should eat breakfast at seven, lunch at twelve and dinner by six. Now we don't worry about the clock.

My mom always said that I was too skinny for fasting, but now I fully enjoy the benefits of doing a fast. It’s not just about loosing weight. I really feel comfortable doing it, and eating afterwards is so enjoyable. 🤗👍🏻

    • @sidstovell2177

I'm a 'normal' weight for my height. Have started fasting because I truly believe that lean is better for long life. I live in a foreign city where there are hundreds of ex-pats; some in their 90's!
Not an extra ounce of fat among them!! I'm 87, and an experiment of one. I feel great fasting. Energy!!
Black coffee!! And lots of water. Best wishes.
