Talking about fatty liver. I had blood works done in February, the next week I had an independent Fibroscan done on my liver. The scan showed I had 30% fatty Liver. The blood came back normal. That’s when I started my journey to fast and lose weight. In 5 months I have lost 42lbs. Thank you Mindy. I am 70 next birthday. My liver now only has 10% fat.

I have very good experiences on Magnesium Glycinate. I had a lot of anxiety. Since I take these supplements my anxiety levels are down from 7/8 out of 10 to 1/2 out of ten. It works great for over a year now ❤. Now on the fasting journey I’m very new and still trying to learn what’s best for me, reading and testing my body. I can feed different in my energy levels but sometimes I slip. My taste is more sensitive to sweet and I don’t like it as much as before. I know it takes time to adjust. My longest fast so far war 24 hours.

Thanks for posting this, Linda! I'm going to try and find out if my insurance will pay for a fibroscan of my liver. I'm curious to see where I'm at. I started intermittent fasting 17 days ago after a friend of mine turned me onto Dr. Mindy's book. Last night I watched this video and checked my heels. I was shocked to feel smooth, uncracked skin beneath my fingers! My husband's heels are very dry and cracked, and I'm positive mine used to be too (but not quite as bad as his). I'm hoping he adopts a fasting lifestyle too.

Dr. Pelz, what are the best times of the day to take vitamins and supplements (such as turmeric). Also, what thoughts do you have about NMN and using metformin for a female, early 60s, A1C level above 5, below 7?

Alzheimer's runs in my dad's side of family. 7 of the 15 got it. My dad passed away March 19, 2024 after a 10 year battle of Alzheimer's. I came across your videos on UA-cam about June. I started my intermittent fasting journey shortly after that around June 15th. In a months time i have lost 11.4 pounds. Yay me 🎉. I am in menopause and have gained alot of weight. On Monday 7/22/24 i am getting a plant base hormone seed injection. I have experienced some issues with memory lately, like leaving out letters when typing. I so desperately have to change my lifestyle. I thank God I have found you. By the way i just finished up a second 36 hour fast getting ready to do the second 12 hour eating window.

You said to put a magnesium win story in the comments. I have a big one. I used to wake up 4 or 5 times a week with the most excruciating charley horses. Drove my poor hubby nuts because I'd wake up screaming in agony, snd he'd have to squeeze/kneed my calf til it went away. Then I read about magnesium glycinate. Started taking it daily. Charley horses completely disappeared. Then I ran out. I thought, well , it's expensive, maybe I'll just see if the problem is permanently cured before I order more. 48 hours later, woke up to my first Charley horse in over a year. Never making that mistake again!

My mother has Alzheimer's, and I am doing everything I can to reduce my chances of getting it. I started eating no sugar & no grains two years ago, and I started intermittent fasting a year or so ago, and I feel better than I've felt in all my adult years. I'm 58 and have none of the dementia symptoms you mentioned, and I am beyond grateful for that. I have (and have read cover to cover) FLAG and Menopause Reset, and I watch your videos almost daily, and you have taught me so much, so thank you for all you do and for continuing to look to new studies and findings and sharing those with us too.

When I was in my early 30's, I was raising kids, taking care of a house and had a full time job. The week before my cycle I would get awful back pain on my left side. OB-GYN doctor gave me pain medication. Tried a couple of different ones. The one I loved the most got pulled off the market because they found it was causing cardiac problems. I took a nutrition class and learned about magnesium. Started taking magnesium citrate and the pain was gone! I was getting constipated right before my cycle. So busy with life I didn't notice. Magnesium citrate was great for relaxing all the pre-cycle stress in my body. I even took it for PMS headaches.

What is PUFA? What did you stop to eat? This is what is written on internet: Polyunsaturated fat is a type of dietary fat. It is one of the healthy fats, along with monounsaturated fat. Polyunsaturated fat is found in plant and animal foods, such as salmon, vegetable oils, and some nuts and seeds. Fatty, or oily fish, including anchovies, herring, mackerel, black cod, salmon, sardines, bluefin tuna, whitefish, striped bass and cobia. These fish are high in omega-3 fatty acids.
Some nuts and seeds, including walnuts, flaxseeds and sunflower seeds.Tofu/soybeans.
My question is: You don´t eat all these things? What do you eat then?

Thank you for confirming the sense I have had that my feet and lower leg edema is likely liver related. I have lost 100 pounds and at goal, but feel like I still have a lot of work to do. And I know the best way is food. I gave up junk food 6 years ago and have been eating like you recommend. The yellow is gone from the corner of my eyes. I have been time restricted eating for a year and a half. I introduced a 36 hour fast weekly and varied my fasting the rest of the week. I sense that I need to do ADF. So that is next, but not permanently. My body is healing and strong. I chose health facing down 50. Now at 56 I am better than ever. Since I started fasting my intuition has ramped up, my binge eating and food addiction is manageable and I sleep so well during the 36 hour fasts! ❤

Thank you so much for this! I’m so grateful to you, Dr. Mindy. 🌹
I have dry heels and my sclera also lost their brightness over the years - I’m thinking that it was likely due to years of the toxicity from antidepressants (which I finally came off of after years of increased symptoms of depression - which I am completely free of now) and perhaps also from years of smoking which I finally quit over two years ago. Eating healthier along with IF has helped with this. I also started taking a supplement with dandelion, milk thistle, and yellow dock for the liver.
I also take both magnesium glycinate and threonate and highly recommend them. 🌹

It was actually fasting that made me aware my liver is not healthy, since it gave me jaundice for the first time in my life. Even after quitting my last fast about 3 months ago, I still am yellowish regularly. I don't drink and eat very healthy nowadays but must have had a liver issue since childhood, as I had endometriosis since my first period which is liver related. Barbarba O'neill speaks about how nowadays fasting can actually be dangerous as many people are too toxic, and the liver isn't able to eliminate all the toxins that fast. Would be great if you can do a video/research on this.

There is no fail as long as you are trying. It's such a learning process...the more you experience, the more you will pay attention to your body's responses. If you did cave in and eat crappy food, try and pin down why. The more you dig into the reasons, the easier it gets to stick with things. It's taken me years when I assumed it would take weeks or months. It really is a re-education in your body.

Loving this fresh new haircut dr Mindy ! I am 46, i take magnesium glycinate every night, 3 capsules, massage my feet most nights with this lush better you magnesium body butter with zinc. I drink dandelion with a teaspoon of cinnamon before bed and first thing in the morning, nice purge. I sometimes crave for ginger and lemon. I used to have nasty mouth ulcers that last over a week. Last week, with fasting and and self healing reiki, it was gone in two days. I want to change my lifestyle even better so I will get the ‘menopause reset’. Is this book available in French ? I am considered slender, in good shape. I work out, lift weights. Got fatty liver but my liver numbers are normal. Occasional drinker. But the belly fat! First day, I did a 36 hr fast, followed by a daily 20 hr fast. On day 5. Abstaining from ALL alcohol-even my fave red wine. Sticking to clean, grass fed beef and clean chicken and pork; free range eggs; vegetables and some fruit; no grains, no potatoes 😢. Drinking water with apple cider vinegar. Eating and drinking kimchi juice. Taking electrolytes including magnesium. What a difference! The bloating is going away. The hunger pangs are GONE! Round face looks more chiseled! Next: I want to try coffee enema!

re: cracking of soles of feet.... when I wear socks and shoes (winter time) my feet are usually fairly smooth. rest of the year I go barefoot a LOT! and recently, last two three years, I get cracking in feet, so now I switch up between barefeet in the garden, on the driveway, and shoes and socks. Interestingly, 3 years ago, I moved to the mountains, and found myself drinking more regularly, and occasionally excessively. Now that I've cut out most alcohol, my elderly old liver may not be bouncing back. I get instant belly spare tire after a couple of days of even including dried fruit or a tiny bit of honey, and right away after a glass of wine or a can of cider. Still learning and figuring out metabolic switching for my body. My gut doesn't always like keto, but mind and energy do. And my acupuncturiist, who is skilled, brilliant and a hoot has some tcm ideas about healing the spleen meridian with morning millet etc. It helps in some ways, but after a week, the belly fat... Still learning at 70. Thank you for all the incredible information and inspiration.

Hello I’m 65 years old and have recently been watching your videos and implementing some of the things that you are suggesting, particularly intermittent fasting. I’m far from perfect with it, but I have noticed that when I become serious about it, it really works. after watching this video I noticed that my feet do not itch. My feet are not cracked. And my feet are not swollen. So that made me happy. It sounds like my liver is working pretty good. However I do have excess fat around my waist. Not a tremendous amount, but more than I would like to be there. One of my questions that I have for you is and your other video you mentioned not eating anything two hours before the sun goes down which these days doesn’t seem to be too hard because it’s summer. However, I get up at 5:30 or 6:00 AM and I drink coffee with creamer. Particularly heavy whipping cream. Does that break my fast I’m thinking yes but I guess I want to hear it from you. Anyway, either one agree with everything that you’re saying and I’m trying to work harder at fasting. It’s a little hard when you love food. Which makes me think and my eating for emotional reasons or am I eating for boredom or am I eating because I’m hungry. Those things I need to zero in on a little better. Thank you for your video. Oh, one more thing if a person is diagnosed with a non-alcoholic fatty liver, can a person reverse that

Dr. Mindy, I'm having trouble controlling my blood sugar after getting Shingles. Using your intermittent fasting advice and staying lower carb, I was able to get my morning blood sugars down from 170 to around 100-118. After getting Shingles, my diet had not changed, but my blood sugars shot up and I can't get them back down again. It doesn't help that I also sprained my ankle and haven't been moving enough. I read online about a connection between Shingles and increased blood sugar. Is there anything you can recommend to help? I'm thinking about going straight on Keto, but last time I did that I became very sick. When I decrease carbs too low, my resting heart rate starts to go into the 50s and sometimes even 40s when I'm sleeping. HELP! My doctor does not understand.
