In Angola we also have Tchkuanga/Kikuanga, Sakamadessu, Fumbua, Makaiabo, and Pincho (the meet you showed). Especially in the provinces where BaKongo people mostly live such as Cabinda, Zaire (where Mbanza Kongo is located), and Uige. But as Luanda, is a place whre people from all provinces usually go to live to find better life opportunities, its now popular in Luanda as well, and also, because there are many Congolese people living in Angola. In Angola people usually eat them at home, weddings, and also we usually eat the meat you showed (we call it pincho) with Tchikuanga/Kikuanga, Fried Banana, and Fried Fries as kind of barbecue.
I think I tried one Congolese recipe. I’m sure I didn’t make it correctly. And I swapped the peanut sauce for Tahini. Was scrumptious! Made me realize how familiar the flavorings and culinary styles were to cuisines that can be tasted all around the world. For example there is substantial evidence indicating the Congolese roots of dishes among Afro people in Centro, Southern, and Northern America. Even Mexican food has Congolese/Central African/ Niger Congo roots.
Kwanga is called Congolese bobo lo in Cameroon I know a company that produces it here in DLA and exports it to London But until you taste Cameroonian🇨🇲 delicacies before we conclude if 🇨🇩 got the best. Hey Family! We are back with a new video for the week! I Really hope you enjoyed watching this one and hopefully learn one thing or two! But have you tasted Congolese food before? If so, what is your favourite? 😅😅 New videos every Sunday/Saturday! I'm planning more content for us all! I love you! ❤️
so I'm half Congo half Swiss :) I grew up in switzerland, so the only conection to congo, was the food! However, since I moved out, I've started cooking it by myslef :) (We called Kwanga; Chikwangue)
I am a Nigerian(West Africa). We make fufu from fresh cassava; cassava flour;corn flour, the mixture of both cassava and corn flour; yam flour then semolina.
I am Ivorian, I tried Pondu with rice and Fumbwa with Kwanga. Was not my favourite thing to eat, but I will defo be trying it again to make sure it wasn't a fluke.
We called fumbwa --sakasaka, manioc leaves cooked in palm oil and pili pili and other yummy stuff. I make fufu, with saka saka or mwamba nsusu, but never learned how to make kwanga. In Kinshasa, they serve kwanga and sardines on the public buses. I need a congolese restaurant in California to visit!
I love mwamba nsusu (chicken cooked in palm oil), add in some saka- saka (manioc leaves), with Kwanga, its to die for. I also love mbica (spelling?) pounded seeds cooked again, in palm oil, with fufu or kwanga. I've been making fufu here in California for years (who else is going to make it for me) and have it with my cans of sardines, whenever I'm missing Congo.
I've tasted all of these and more but I don't like fumbwa and saka madesu. I looove pondu cooked with palm oil...some Congolese don't cook it with palm oil....salted fish is good as well. Another favourite is caterpillars and mushrooms sauce...
Strongly agree. Fumbwa is nothing without the rest of its usual...'team-mates'. Sakasaka holds its own very well. Saka madesu is an injustice on cassava leaves lol. Kind regards
I have tried fufu and goat and casava? I really enjoy it would like to learn more and how to make it I have a coworker that is Congolese and she wants me to make something what do u suggest
There's alingala saying" liboke ya moninga okoki kosombela yango kwanga te" Now that you have mentioned the two words;liboke&kwanga could you please tell what it means and when to use it? I thank you 😊
😅 In the literal sense, it says “You can’t just buy Kwanga with the thought of eating it with someone else’s Liboke” 😊 It’s a metaphor and the way I understand it is simply not to make plans on other people’s belongings lol! But I stand to be corrected because I’ve never heard that saying before 😊😅
@@CongoTalks243 your explanation is satisfying thanks 😊 surprised you haven't heard it before very common in Congolese rumba though everyone tend to say it their way . Listen to SI JE SAVAIS CA by Madilu System at 4:40 is there .
Not only in Lingala. Probably something to do with the availability and concentration of the internet, mostly in and around the Lingala speaking area(s)? Best

Spelling is mbika. I always hated that dish 😂😂😭 But now I eat a bit of it as egusi from Nigeria. I still don’t like it that much though
I would love to begin seeing Congolese cuisine become established in my country.

Maman you forgot lituma. Ripe pounded or smashed plantain. It goes well with Chicken, or meat.
