Guiglo, Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast) - After making our way along the Atlantic coast of Côte d’Ivoire, we’re continuing our Ivorian food tour to the north, stopping first for an extraordinary meal in Guiglo, before we continue all the way to Northern Ivory Coast, eating as much local food as we can along the way.
In Guiglo, Côte d’Ivoire we met with the Guéré tribe and Madam cooked us an absolutely incredible meat called Sauce Bawin (cassava leaves sauce) and Sauce Kplé Ba (sticky sauce) - a meal fit for West African royalty! It was impressive and the flavors were unbelievable.
We continued our journey to Touba and to an extremely remote village called Gboola. In Gboola we saw one of the most mysterious and fascinating dances I’ve ever scene, the Ivorian stilt dances. We then had lunch with the community.
Finally to complete this cay we drove to Odienne, in the very northern part of Côte d’Ivoire. There we had some Gnomi (griddle cakes) and a huge meal of Sumbala La-fri - Rice made with eggplant and locust beans.
It was another incredible day of local West African food in Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast)!
A huge thank you to my friend Mo Soumahoro from Belle Côte d’Ivoire ( / bellecotedivoire ) for arranging my trip and setting up everything.

What is it with these remarks on humility under his African videos rarely seen under others when he travels elsewhere?
Or one must be especially humble to interact with Africans?
I don't get it. They're people like anyone else. And just as welcoming too, with food he enjoys just as much as other locations.

To say that someone is humble because people receive him with joy and make the effort to offer him their most beautiful dishes, it is still the expression of this illogical superiority complex that sticks to your brain, you leukoderms. you are amazing 😂😂

The use of cassava, bananas, plantains, . . . . and the iconic stilt-walkers and masquerade . . . from Barbados to Trinidad to Montserrat . . . these rhythms of life, of cuisine, of using natural ingredients persist, reflecting the ancient roots of the people who were stolen from the continent up to 400 years ago.

@neverforget1971 False. I've lived there (and 5 other west African countries). They are all very generous in the serving size, no matter their financial status. It's just hospitality. It is an overall poor region of the world, yes, but the biggest cities are doing quite well I'd say.

It amazes me how many cultures do not use utensils while eating, and how common it is for them to eat with their hands from the same dish. You’re a special type of person to be able to stomach that. Personally I couldn’t do it. Keep eating, and we’ll keep watching. Cheers. 🌶️

The rice cake is called 'masa' in Nigeria, made without the banana, and eaten with 'suya' (local barbecued meat) and suya pepper called 'yaji' (dry ground chillies and ginger and salt mix). Thanks Mark! REALLY enjoyed this Ivorian series.👏👏👏
