Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 and went on to become one of the most influential, innovative, and successful groups in modern music, having sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. The band rose from the ashes of The Yardbirds, when Jimmy Page brought in John Bonham, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant to tour as The New Yardbirds. In 1969, Led Zeppelin released its self-titled debut which was produced by Page, as were all the subsequent albums. It marked the beginning of a 12-year reign, during which the group was widely considered to be the biggest and most innovative rock band in the world.
1973-2023 & still counting. This album is the fountain of youth
Listening to Zeppelin makes me feel young again.

I got this album Christmas day, 1977. I was 13. It was the only thing I'd asked for. Played it all day.... still listening to it today 46 years later... timeless masterpiece.
whats your fav song on it? if you had to pick just one
That's a really tough decision. If I could only listen to one song, hmmm... "Over the hills and far away." But, ask me again tomorrow, and maybe it's a different answer.... 😂
@@OpenSesame858 Fair enough lol. Its def my fav album of Zep. Top song for me is The Rain Song on the album

I am 65 and Zeppelin was IT. Lots of harsh in those days. Saw them in 1975 Montreal. This is Zeppelin best overall record. All members of Zeppelin were equals on this record. The music captures the mythical and the sacred. There is no profanity. Give a thumbs up if you get it thank you
There's a live recording of the '75 Montreal Show floating around if you feel like re-living the show. Bootlegs can be a bit rough on the ears at times but the experience is worth it in my opinion.

65. 2. Also including me. Still 14 mentality but what the hell. Take it slow bro.
I'am 64 and Zeppelin was not it. I, ll, lll and lV album are masterpieces, no doubt. Houses of the holy shows the end of their genuine creativity. Bad job for U.S. fans with spot of old r'n'r and funky...Led Zeppelin machine was tyred and this lp bring the true decadence...from this to all records after just show biz without soul.

75 yrs old. First was my turn table, 2nd my 8-track, and 3rd my cassette deck that I wore out with Led and still "Grooving" today on UA-cam. Guess that's why my hearing is not as good as it use to be.
I got almost the whole Zeppelin chronology as hand me down albums. I played them on a piece of shit record player handed down from my mother, because they didn't want me to blast them too loud on something better. This was from the late 70's into the 80's. Intermixed in the albums were Gordon Lightfoot, Chicago, and Fleetwood Mac, among others.
The only band that influenced me as much as Zeppelin was Deep Purple, and the Beatles.

@@marvelousmar777 another year later and still the best there is.
Everyone says this album was before it's time in 73... It fit just perfect for the soundtrack of my life in 73. I wouldn't change a thing. People are welcome to continue to enjoy it. I know I still am very much so. Let history repeat itself through the generations. It still plays on classic rock radio 50yrs later. But we get to say we were there and some of us have it on vinyl. I know I have my original vinyl album and my precious memories attached to this album. I wouldn't change a thing. The timing was perfect. So stop saying they were before their time. It was their time and they Rocked!
❤❤❤
Only thing I'd slide around is the timing on the quality of recording equipment. Not to say digital won anything all the way out... the sweet spot for me was within the 80s, particularly the later years and into the 90s. The entire front end was the best analog equipment money could get...
Even this cleaned up really nice considering the "loose" overall nature of the sound (a big part of the appeal in Zeppelin's sound if you ask me), so maybe I'm torn there too and just have to agree that it's perfect as it stands 🤷♂️🤣
Either way this is one of their best, arguably THE best.
Absolutely!!!
The songs bring back some really vivid emotions from my younger years.
The best band ever.....
I clearly remember being in kindergarten at the record store with my dad and he bought the album . Listening to it on a cold Chicago afternoon as my mom cooked dinner. My parents were 18 at my birth and I owe my taste in music to them.

@doznoff362 It's fair to say this is their most poppy, radio-friendly album. So staunch Zep heads might turn their nose up at it just a tad. Compare it to the testosterone-fueled Graffiti that followed. I love it though. I like that the albums all have slightly different vibes. I and II really could have been a double album as they are thematically similar and came out the same year. III is an obvious acoustic/folksy departure. IV is argaubly peak Zep. In the vein of I and II. Then this is more poppy. PG unzipped its pants and pulled its balls out. Not for women. But also kind of consistent, unlike earlier albums that had different genres. Presence... I don't care for that one too much. The IttOD was more synthy and modern I suppose. But you can figure out what you-re in the mood for and put an album on.
Just in terms of complexity, these songs are truly classical music.

Led Zeppelin’s answer:- okay let’s make the very best album we are capable of writing and creating. For me this is their best album in terms of different textures, moods, and pure musicality.
These new remasters on UA-cam are sounding excellent!!!
This to be honest is their best album. It's also the first of Zeppelins catalog to be filled with all original works(none of the songs here are covers). Also it's so good cause of how creative it was, and how well each song just blends together. How it goes from there fiery start in Tye Song Remain The Same to the soft spoken poetic song in the Rain Song
And how the flows perfectly with the beginning of Over the hills and far away(My favorite song on the album). Then they throw away what the first three songs did and begin with Bonhams drum, and although being out of time it still has a groove, just be careful for the off beat snare drum. And the it gives you time to think about what happened and then you start up side two. It automaticallies begin with Dancing days. You didn't ask for it but it's something you needed. Bonham drums are magnificent on this whole side of the album. And the it takes you in to tye reggae take from led zeppelin also known as Dyer Maker per nounced(Der maica). And how it goes into probably led zeppelins most mysterious song. No Quarter, which was just special and how it just comes on in tye album. And then the closer the Ocean. What a good way to remind tye listener that they are a big part of Zeppelin. Thank you.
Well said. 👍
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Great job 👍
So much better than listening to a drum machine...! That's why today's music sounds so dead.. give me live drumming... even with the off beat sounds great 👍
I think Physical Grafitti is their best album, but to each his own.
IMHO "Best of All Time" Group 🇺🇸✌️
I'm listening this all my way home... Peacefully walking through a desert land, with some wind blowing softly on trees....
This was the first album I ever bought in 77 at the age of twelve. Still one of my all time favorite. The greatest band to ever grace a stage. Led Zepplin.
Timeless music.
I found this album on my older brothers record player when it first came out and a joint of lumbos in a strawberry paper my sister hid away. I was 8. BEST DAY EVA! I was the last of 5 and 7yrs younger than my Sister who I found the joint from. Good times. GR8 Memories 40 yrs later.
50 years on & I still get the goose bumps & rushes that I did then listening to my favorites off this album. Thanks for the memories 😊
Beautiful album. Must have listened it 1000' of times and still sounds fresh.
Led Zeppelin is timeless. I can listen to it anytime any day and feel great, in the 70's my parents even listened to what my older sisters brought home. They saw them in Holland I got to see Page and Plant 2 nights in a row in Sydney on the 24th and 25th Feb 1996. wow didn't realize that was so long ago.
I remember stealing this record for the album cover not knowing who the band was. When I decided to slap it on the turn table, I was floored.
What a great album.
73?

I remember this, 1975, 14 at the time, myself and about eight friends crowded round my dad's "radiogram" listening very intently ❤❤❤, big fan!!
The Album that signaled the Dawn of Spring and Anticipation for Summer. ❤️❤️❤️💚💚💚💚☘️☘️
50 years and not hearing them. This album is one of my absolute favorites from Led Zeppelin, it's all here, blues, hard rock, atmosphere, psychedelia, experimentation, pop, reggae. Great album 🤘
Hella Yea, while I have all Led Zeppelins albums I have to agree this is myFav as well 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🔥🔥❤️🔥🔥🔥✌🏻

..and add funk and proto punk especially in the crunge.
you lived a sheltered life...how is that possible?
Yuppers! 😁🥳✌️👆 where have ye Been?
I am the same age as this album, but this album has aged much better than I have
☺️☺️☺️
Nothing to say other than thanks for the many wonderful hours listening to this album for 40+ years.
Sooooo 1973 I was 16
@@steveg1833I was 12. This album is excellent at any age as long as you are ready to rock!
Over the hills. No Quarter. Rain Song. Zeppelin’s creative peak
Zep's music will be here forever, long after we are gone. Jimmy was my first teen rock crush. Saw them in concert in the 70's and as Page & Plant in the 90's. They both were amazing and magical shows. Long live LED ZEPPELIN and their fans!
Always my favorite LZ album. It’s got everything on it. Powerful, melodic, art rock, Celtic, heavy, soaring, serious, playful. What’s not to like?
True! II is now second to me. IV is 3rd, 1 4th, Physical Graffiti and the others all tie, except for Coda. Coda's #0 lol
@@_Ramen-Vac_ pretty great ranking tbh
@@shewolfcub3 We're Gonna Groove, Poor Tom, Walter's Walk and Wearing and Tearing are great, and Bonzo's too, but, those two other tunes are barf.
@@_Ramen-Vac_ Yeah I get that, I like the deluxe version of coda for the extra songs and i consider it a comp mroe than an album. Personally I find their debut overrated
@@shewolfcub3 yeah III probably deserves its spot. more. Presence and then 3.
Best band of all time ❤
