What’s funny is I first had this on cassette - and for whatever reason side 1 of the cassette was side 2 of the album, and vice versa. And so until I later had the album, I always thought that ‘Your Time Is Gonna Come’ was the opener for Zeppelin’s debut lol. And actually, that would make ‘Dazed And Confused’ the last song of Zep 1 - which kinda makes more sense, right? Given how epic that song is?
I have always been ASTOUNDED how Led Zeppelin arrived FULLY formed. From the first five seconds of Good Times Bad Times... they are Led Zeppelin. No finding their way, no searching for a sound. It arrives, fully formed, on the first album, recorded in no time with no resources. Like some kind of elemental emanation.
They had only been together a short time, but remember they all said that after the first track they ever played together, they looked at each other and knew it was magic.
When bonzo at the beginning played lots of rolls. and Jimmy Page did not care for it much Peter Grant took Bonham aside and and said see that man Jimmy page. You do what exactly what he says or your FUCKING out of the band!!!!!

Many do not understand that this first album released by Led Zeppelin sets a complete new era of music and quality. There cannot be any doubt that LZ is und was the greatest phenomen of modern times.
Page and Jones had years of professional experience in the recording business and knew the business side. They really knew how to get the most out of Plant and Bonham. I believe this album was done in 18 hours of studio time which, if true, is probably due to Page and Jones knowing accounting tricks.
I took this album to school for show and tell in 2nd grade. It was new and the teacher let me play it for the class. About halfway through Whole Lotta Love, she picked up the needle and said that was enough.

Music brings you back to haunting times in the past - in the summer of 1971, I was in the US Army stationed in Ubon, Thailand and living in the Siam Hotel. I had this album on a cassette tape. I was more into Jimi Hendrix and really did not appreciate the artistry of Led Zeppelin at that time. I do now in 2024.
Jimi is a worthy hold on one's attention, and he was definitely overwhelming, like Zeus throwing thunderbolts. Led Zeppelin was atmospheric at the time but now, with how Hendrix stretched our ears to virtuosity, spatially, poetry, new rhythms, we come back the wiser to reevaluate the Leds. They are superb.

I recently bought a four album set by Led Zepp... some of it remastered by Jimmy Page... on Amazon. I had most of the original albums back in the 60's when Zepp released them. I went the extra mile, breaking out my old Pioneer amp (with extensive recapping) and Realistic turntable from mothballs to play the albums. They sound as amazing as ever and bring back fond memories of me and my deceased best friend laying on the living room floor, listening to Led Zepp on my parents console stereo, driving around in his '69 Chevelle SS 396, and wearing Gant shirts (that my mom HATED due to not being permanent press). It's about more than just the music... it's the memories!
I took a long break from zeppelin and this is my first time really listening to them again since may, I truly forgot what a great band they were, MY BAD😔
Don’t ever do that again. I’ll be checking in with you again and you better be getting your daily dose of lead.… Have a better report next time my friend.
Thanks so much for posting this. I'm back in 1973, 17 years old, listening for the first time in my mate's loft room drinking his homemade beer 🍻. Unforgettable!!
I was a teenager in the 60's, before I got drafted for military service. Led Zeppelin was one of my favs, along side The Cream, Grateful Dead, and a few others.
I fortunate to see led Zeppelin in concert at Madison Square Garden 1970 and in 1973. The 1973 shows were filmed and released in 1976 as the movie The Song Remains the Same! 🎸🤟😎
Was my undisputed #1first album , but then at 18yrs old in 78, I had to insert Boston and VH 1 in a 3 way tie and that still holds up, but LZ is no question the greatest Rock N Roll band of all time, and it's not even close.
Bought the debut Zeppelin LP when I was 15 and was blown away by the electrifying power, passion and creativity of this amazing band!! A unique treasure in R & R history!!
One important consideration is that Led Zep is not only electric guitar, it's the perfect marriage of acoustic instruments and electricity. They all 4 can be proud of that. Not many bands around the world can claim such a feat.
It was 1984 walking through the Pennsylvania woods with a small jukebox playing Your Time Is Going To Come on cassette. Must have been six of us all stoned on Panamanian Red. It’s 2024 now sitting on my porch in Hawaii. Just retired. Stoned again 40 years later and JPJ’s opening organ is just as haunting now as it was 40 years ago. Aloha 🤙
Not only were these four lads extremely talented in their respective craft (somewhat of an understatement), but Jimmy Page was quite the savvy businessman. Jimmy and manager Peter Grant put up their own money to record this album before signing with Atlantic. One could speculate that Page learned a lot more during his days as a studio session guitarist than how to make records and probably got some good advice on copyrights, royalties, and other music business wisdom. It was a shrewd play, but the gamble paid off and they never looked back. Full creative control over the music and nothing less is what Jimmy demanded. Ahmet had no choice. You think he would go against Page and Grant?

Good Times Bad Times has gotta be one of (if not) the best opening tracks of all time
I think a Hedley Grange dog would bark back at that....
@@tawpgk yessir
I think you are right.
I went through the bad times and now we are into the lifelong GOOD TIMES!!
@@DayTrooperGW Agreed. Your Time is Gonna Come is a masterpiece
Righteous man...
Page and Bonham were studio pros since 64'.
You meant JPJ
They had only been together a short time, but remember they all said that after the first track they ever played together, they looked at each other and knew it was magic.
When bonzo at the beginning played lots of rolls. and Jimmy Page did not care for it much Peter Grant took Bonham aside and and said
see that man Jimmy page. You do what exactly what he says or your FUCKING out of the band!!!!!
... Thank You Led Zeppelin, for all good times and memories...!!!

Cool jams, what else is there to do, peace out*

Unreal how great they are!
Perplexing how these musicians came together.

There are very few PERFECT albums. This is one of them
For 1969, the use of synthesizer in this one is downright revolutionary, it's so well done
Was it a synthesizer? Perhaps a Mellotron? Which song(s)?
No synth on this.
You mean the organ?
Or the backwards slide on "Babe I'm gonna leave you "??
even after 54 years led zep's songs continue with their young and striking beat. It's a shame I couldn't have accompanied them from the beginning..., but I'll always continue to love them, long live Led!! 🎸💥

@@331SVTCobra Wikipedia: "The sessions took place before the group had secured a recording contract and totalled 36 hours; "
a truly great album which imho was never surpassed by later albums.
I took this album to school for show and tell in 2nd grade. It was new and the teacher let me play it for the class. About halfway through Whole Lotta Love, she picked up the needle and said that was enough.
Whole Lotta Love Is On Led Zeppelin II.

This is a crazy life. Thank you for your service to our country
Greatest debut album of all time. Greatest band of all time
Wrong with both
Appetite for destruction is best debut
