For being 15 years old when they started touring the U.S, they absolutely owned the concert goers the entire show....15...years...old. FREAKing amazing
lmao, this song is the most generic grunge i've ever heard of my life. It's literally being Nirvana and not even being embarrased about it Instead of being a freak, he should have sung about being a thief. But hey - the sad part is is that they DO have really good songs, just none of them as popular as this blatant ripoff.
To Razorsharp: it's true that this song sounds a lot like Nirvana but they were young teens influenced by them and i dont think it was such a bad thing. How many bands were influenced by The Beatles or The Rolling Stones ? The song is very good, no matter what, i would say.
This was my shit! I use to sing this song everyday in High School. No one back then could understand why as an african american I listened to rock music. I use to get shit for it wearing my Nirvana shirts, but I just kept it moving. I still very much into rock as I was back then.
Mrs. RockKitty Hey! Thank you. I'm all about the human race. We're all the same, I tell my kids that. We bleed the same blood when we're hurt. Cry the same tears for our lost loved ones. We're all human. Cheers, fellow human!
Daniel is so much like kurt, insane vocalist, way to smart and famous too young but even younger, And isnt a virtuoso but added some hard rock and heavy metal vibes, his play style reeks a lowkey Metallica fan and ive always loved it.
Gotta say that I'm not the biggest fan of Silverchair, but they don't deserve the shade that has been thrown their way. Their music has aged quite well and this is my fave of the bunch...especially the transition "body and soul...I'm a freak, I'm a freak." All respect to this day
Bro this part is everything! "Body and soul, I'm a freak" Daniel Johns sings these lines with an intense feeling of guilt and maybe sorrow. It convinces you that the character does feel like he's a freak or something like that.
This is the very first time I listen to any of their songs (their singles were never released in my country), and though their inspirations are very clear, I think this is quite a solid song. I don't know what hate they got back in the day, but maybe the issue was that they were too similar to a sound that had been popular 5 years earlier and that music spot (the "angsty/depressed rock") had already moved on with new sounds like Korn or Smasihng Pumpkins? I'm basing all this only on this song though
Today in Australia it is Daniel John's Birthday. Happy birthday Daniel! I went to several silverchair concerts back when this incredible song was out and they were some of the best live performances I ever experienced in my life. Still love silverchair!
I have discovered my favorite band through this clip back in 1997. Silverchair means so much to me. I couldn't be who I am without it. That's my roots. I am forever grateful
20 years ago does not seem to be a long time ago when The lead singer of Silver chair sings. I forgot about this song now I will play it as much as I can. Thank you Sliver chair.
It's not that long ago. Humans just don't live as long as we like to believe we do. 10 years can go by pretty fast. Eventually they'll extend human life spans though and it'll totally redefine how we perceive time.
Every time i scroll through social media and see people with their ghetto fabulous lives and don't have to work for a living, this song comes to my head.
I always love their rock story. They were this young band who won a record deal in a radio show thus the making of frogstomp which is a good record. May not be reinventing the wheel of rock but the song writing was tight. And to be considered a good band that’s good enough and how young they were when they made that record, it was impressive. And the fact that they never had a line up change, same 3 childhood friends stayed loyal to the band for nearly 20 years is inspiring.
This could really go down as the most badass grunge if not the most badass song ever. 3 Aussie boys with an insane raw power and talent…ABSOLUTE FREAKS! 🪑🥈🤘🏻
This song has a powerful msg that is relevant to the way the world is going today. I wake up more and more every day, and I hope more people are doing the same. Peace to all the good people out there.
All the grunge bands rocked. You gotta remember more unknown bands like mother love bone, tad, Melvins, Green river, Meat puppets, Screaming trees etc were the first pioneers of "grunge" yet they get few recognition....

This guy in the band and what they did is incredible... Sometimes I forget they were just kids. But they definitely had old souls

I always liked silverchair’s heavier side. The clean parts are beautiful also and when the band is going hard. 2023 this song is still a banger !

Master Debater It’s better than not finding them and hearing to other crappy music
Make sure you listen to their Frogstomp album. Its the heaviest, and they were only 15/16 years old.
Eric Severson oh word, thanks!!
51 and I still blast this going down the road. They were so criminally underrated.
They stopped writing music and quit morphing theyr art into the future.

Silverchair embodied the 90's for me.
First 20 seconds Daniel is doing the best headbang while playing guitar I've ever seen in my life!
i always would think he might get his hair caught in the guitar strains or hurt his neck because he headband so hard. lol.
The head banging in the opening is everything
