Lyrics:
Need to ask a question
Calling out my name
Nothing seems to bother
Wish I had a clue
C'mon abuse me more I like it
Well I don't think you like me
Well I hate you as well
No one seems to like you
Wish I couldn't tell
C'mon abuse me more I like it
C'mon keep talking 'cause it's true
Throw the sailors overboard

I saw and interview from 1998 of the foo fighters and veruca salt at a music festival. When they asked the bands who was their favorite, they all said “the kid from silver chair has a really good voice, he’s insane because he trains his vocals for like 2 hours before his show”.
Exactly right! I saw that vid interview as well bro'. - - Aims - -👍
I would love to see that interview 😁
Cxnts
Sadly he’s not good anymore
@@tailsprowerfan2729yeah he is
Silverchair was always a very impressive band, to reach that level of sound and composition at 17 years old is marvelous.
Diggarci
They were 15 when they released Frogstomp. 😊
@@bigbirdbigbird This song is not on frogstomp 😊
🥴
SuRIKE but frogstomp is still just as good, 2 years prior to this. The point was exaggerated, not challenged.
18 actually
😮I’m mesmerized by those eyes! This band sooo ahead of their time, considering how young they all were!🫶🏼
Damn why was Silverchair soooo underrated, they were soooooo goooddddddddd
I agree
Julien Gray maybe cause they had a message hidden in their music
I agree with Ken in theory at least, somehow these kids were before their years no doubt.
But its not like they weren't pretty big. Platinum artist and still get airplay to this day. Rare anymore but I heard them last month a cpl times randomly, hence I'm here.
I feel you! I think maybe it was the fact that they came all the way from Australia (instead of Seattle)!
I myself think that this makes "Silverchair" all the more awesome for being in the shadows (yet being equally as great and even far better than many of the grunge/alternative bands of the US)!
Nicholas Ramsey and particularly given their age- they were 14 when they were signed, and 15 when Frogstomp was being recorded.
this song is great... the kid was not even 20 years old at the time... Impressive
When the frogstomp album was being recorded they were all about 16
pyromask they were 14...
You know he was only 14 when they brought out their first hit "tomorrow"
thnx
+MMA THROWDOWN 15
But still, insane
I’m 16 years old
I’ve just left school
I had my whole life ahead of me
And this was a part of my personal soundtrack.
Love silverchair’s first 2 albums.
Hi I Recommend an indiesong called: 'The Bond Villain' By Robert Nix
@@redskies4530 Thankyou I will do that
Have faith, my friend! I wish you are well and can win all your battles
Best of luck young man!!
I am glad you like music. You still are young and have your whole life ahead of you.
Daniel Johns is realy an amazing sonwritter and music composer , and if you look at the fact that they were kids at the time they started recording albums and touring through out the world , it's mindblowing
S Wright lol is that true?
ya
no its not true daniel wrote most of silverchair stuff
@@deadroses19 He wrote all of the lyrics! Most of his songs where about his struggle in life! Mostly about his anorexia!
@@barrymantz6026 yeah well his anorexia was mainly on neon ballroom because he developed it over the freak show tours

This is so good but you must hear “Whispering Wolf” or “Seen/Unseen” by SLT 🤘🐺🎧
I'm 60. Silverchair is still one of my all time fav bands. I listen to them a lot. They never get old.

Criminally. Underrated. Just wow.
Very, very true. This band had so many good songs.
Calm. Down.
Can't explain the love I still have for this band
Viva Silverchair!
Grunge is my life
Amen man. Amen
Want a COOKIE? lol
Silverchair is post grunge like seether or three days grace. NOT grunge
@Andy Salter Because of that, Daniel Johns became uncomfortable and did not want to be famous because many said "Silverchair is a grunge band" the f@#$k?
@Andy Salter and many people said "this is like Nirvana" this is fcn shit.. I mean this is not like Nirvana, silverchair still very hardcore element, Daniel johns guitar make Drop D, Kurt cobain is not.
I listen to a wide range of music genres but 90's rock music and Grunge are the only type of music that truly makes me feel things deeply. No other music has ever accomplished that for me.
Hi I recommend a song called 'Looking Into The Mirror' By Robert Nix
Yessss!!!!
Worded this so well. Yes!
Very underrated band

Not in Australia, we know how great the chair are!
I was born July 24, 1989; and this song STILL sounds AWESOME to me!!! I really MISS Silverchair!!! ROCK ON!!!
I’m also July 24th, but 2006. Silverchair is so cool.
That means if you heard this song when it came out you were like 8 years old?
Silverchair is my favorite band always will be.
These guys make me even more proud to be an Aussie. I suffer from addiction, depression and PTSD and can't listen to this without shedding tears.

Yup but he is gay :) don't be mad

+mixed signals hey darryl
With so many great bands in the 90s, I often forget just how awesome these guys were.
the chorus still goes straight to my veins this long after first hearing it
Hi I recommend A song called 'The Bond Villain' by Robert Nix
seriously, right? the first time hearing it will always be better though. Just the "throw the sailors overboard"
Pretty funny how everyone's calling them a Nirvana ripoff but yet
1) Silverchair admitted when they formed that they were Nirvana ripoffs and
2) This song is a response to people in 1996 calling them Nirvana ripoffs.
Also everyone pretty much borrows from one another when it comes to music. I mean my favorite band is Bad Religion but I'll be damned if they didn't steal from Screeching Weasel, Bad Brains and Black Flag.
The vines are the real nirvana rip offs
Thnx
+Joelsuf Nirvana said themselves they were trying to make a "Pixies" album with In Utero. The whole culture of calling people copies is annoying...just sit back and enjoy some good music lol
I think its more about loving a band and being inspired. When you hear songs like "tomorrow" you think: "thank god this kids love nirvana"
ps: if a had a band and someone said to me I'm a ripoff I would say that I am as well :D
Roberta Minussi That's the point I'm trying to make. Its not like they pulled a Vanilla Ice and claimed that they were original or anything. btw for some reason when I heard "Tomorrow" for the first time I thought of Plush by STP.
if Nirvana influences musicians I think it's an AWESOME thing that this world needs more of...Kurt was an amazing songwriter and was also influenced by other bands
yes, but silverchair not had the influence of Nirvana, Daniel Johns himself has said that they had influence as Pearl Jam, Black Sabbath, Aerosmith and others
Jayson Pereira well said man
You know that nirvana wasn’t the first grunge band that influenced every other band right? And Daniel even said nirvana isn’t even one of their influences
on FrogStomp I get more pearl jam vibes. Not Nirvana.
What does Silverchair have to do with Nirvana? They mimic no one. 🇦🇺✌🏽
Still so good after all these years. Had this song in my head after a pretty crappy day, and it's comforting to listen to ✨
Perfect song for the current state of things, IMO.
I would love to offer my soothing channel but there’s always Silverchair to outdo me. 🤟
This is such a stellar track. And whoever directed this vid gets an A+ also.
Silverchair was their own band...talented and very popular...not a rip off or anybody...theyre their own talent...and an excellent unique band ...wicked awesome voice...as teens and then some ...and extremely popular
Like most great bands have lyrics about their life!
Ok, they were pretty good, but to say they weren't clearly influenced by the look of Nirvana or the sound of Alice in Chains is just willful ignorance.
@@th3giv3r yeah this song sounds pretty similar to no excuses imo

Hi I recommend an indie rock song called 'Looking Into The Mirror' By Robert Nix
Very talented musicians.
I'm surprised silverchair vids don't have more views. its a shame when you forget great music from your past.
I have the same feelings for everclear there most popular video only has 3 million views
@@mlbotma3 3 million views is pretty impressive Everclear were not a huge band, BTW this vid now has 2 million views still pretty impressive
Many decent Aussie bands from the 90s only have a few thousand views.
To be honest I'm in love with this music. But for a long time it remind me of a time when I was suffering an ED, bulling, depression. Now that I'm an adult I can hear it again
Probably because this is over 20 years old. Who cares? Just enjoy the music..🤷♂️
Unfortunately rap and pop get all the views. Rock genre for the most part gets overlooked unfortunately
This is definitely one of my favourite Silverchair songs
I saw Silverchair in 1997 at Mississippi Nights in St. Louis, Mo. I’ve been to a lot of shows and their show was the most personal concert I had or have seen. Daniel Johns was mesmerizing. I hope he is in a good head space now.
he is so gorgeous it actually depresses me. don't think I want to watch any more.
yea know that feeling, I really feel that way about ana's song vid
@Rudy Dog I don't envy him. Why do you believe I do? It seems you think I'm a man? Lol. Sometimes men suffer from an inability to imagine or understand that women can use the Internet too. There's even a little clue in the form of... my name being female. The point I was making is that when you see a hot guy who you can't have, because he's a celebrity and a stranger to you, it's depressing.
@@pennydesouza are you a teenager ? it's just a physical excitement, as you grow older + 30 you will be more attracted to the inner personality not the looks.
@@moexus and what makes you such an expert on women’s pleasure
Daniel Johns is so HANDSOME LIKE AN ANGEL!!!
Too bad he never realized it
I was a teen in the 90's. It was my time, and this was my music. There was so much incredible music. Additionally, when Silverchair debut Daniel Johns was 17. These guys were kids sharing the airwaves with the legends of the Seattle grunge bands. How can they be a Nirvana knock-off if they were out simultaneously. Fuck that my cd collection was stupid huge filled with the last generation that produced music worth listening to 20+ years later.
Me too
100% pure FACTS
They were more underground from Australia

Such an amazing underrated song... One of the best of the nineties
Daniel Johns is so beautiful!! ...
I like this version
❤❤❤❤❤
This song was the reason why I got into Silverchair. I was five when I first heard it on my aunt's CD, and I had no idea who the band was or what song it was. In my 2nd year in high school, I'd randomly listened to Tomorrow, Israel's Son, and Miss You Love on my computer (which previously owned by my aunt), but I was never interested in the band until I heard the song again on UA-cam (the one they did on Letterman in '97), which shows on my recommendation. One of my greatest nostalgia that time!

Fav bands of 90s Nirvana, gueens of stone age, silverchair,
soundgarden, alice in chains, pudle of mud, pearl jam,mud honey oh and foo fighters
Live, Better Than Ezra, Collective Soul, The Nixons, The Verve Pipe, The Verve, Sublime, Eve 6.
There's really a whole lot more than that to be honest
Queens of the Stone age are more of a early 2000's band but some and I do mean some people did know who they were in the late 90's when they were signed to Stone Gossards label but they were relatively unknown. Their big break came in 2002 when they released Songs for the Deaf and their first big single was No One Knows. I personally got into them in the summer of 2000 when they released their major label debut Rated R.
Sublime, anyone?
You did not mention Nirvana and the Foo Fighters in 1 sentence!
First off Kurt and Daniels stories was different, so don't compare these bands together but only in the fact that they're both grunge.
I thought the 2 were compared just because both men had straight blonde hair and that was about it. lol
@Andreas Lindqvist it is Definitely grunge mate idk what you are talking about, look up the definition of grunge

Blows away most old school bands that is!
Just enjoy the damn song or don't listen. Sick of people calling anyone remotely similar to Nirvana a "rip off" like no one cares, the video is here so people who LIKE IT can watch. Not for you to come and complain because you think every grunge band in existence is a Nirvana copy...

great comment. i ignore people who makes comparison. i simply come here to enjoy good music, good rock and roll music. i missed this song and the 90s...it's been a week since Scott Weiland died. RIP Scott Weiland. no more STP :(

This band is amazing. It makes me sad that I was an infant when they were a thing. Just to feel like 90s teenager, which they also used to be.
I wanna live in the 90s
Same.
Glad I was born in 80 ...sumtimes...
Honestly, teenagers haven't changed much, or at least _we_ haven't. I mean, bikes are still life and we still do stupid stuff. We rode to town over the hill yesterday and went to a restaurant, and then we were gonna ride back but I got a text from my friend saying that there was hay to stack so I got picked up, but my friend rode home.
Being a teen in the 90s was epic. Wish I was there again. I have nothing to look forward to but a lot to look back on
