I found a lot of the steel snobs also complain about hot spots and the like, soft hands with no callouses from working with them for a living.

Loved that "coat wire hanger" trick ! Cold Steel has great AUS-8 & AUS-10A heat treatment. For the price point(s).. this is a bargain steel. It's fine for people who maintain their blades. I'm somewhat of a steel snob & I can say Cold Steel has great AUS 8 & Buck has great 420 HC.. their proprietary heat treatments take those bargain steels to a whole new level of excellence. You now need it's counter part brother, the fully serrated version !! Both of them can be bought for $67-85 if you shop around. Wasn't going to comment but that coat hanger / wire trick is pretty nifty.. so I will be trying it out. I fully agree on the whole Teclok system. Before you know it.. your knife is sticking out 1⅓ inches. Very impractical. Plus, carry & use what works for *YOU* .. the criticism & critics are *Not* going to be there when you are working/camping/using your Marauder or any knife for that matter.

Just ordered one of these. It seems to be proper work horse and does what a blade of such size is supposed to be doing as far as I've seen the reviews and videos👍 It's not that expensive either so for the price I think it's a good blade. All those fancy steel snobs can buy something else if they don't like it 😁

This is so a great blade..i have putted mine through hard work and it can do it all..
I have the sabergrinded too..much stronger then the hollow grinded one..
I hear many people say this Bowie is only for fighting and that is not true.
I a Survival situation this blade do good work too.
Although the design is indeed in the first place with fighting in mind..
    Beautyful knife!

Very cool knife...I may have to pick one up! Love those Kraton handles just like on the SRK. I couldn't Scout carry a blade that large though. Sticks out way too much on me and it catches on everything. Oh yeah, I'm definitely not a steel snob. Aus8 is a very functional and fine steel.

Love Cold Steel's aus8!!! Not all aus8 is created equal, and Cold Steel sells the best aus8 which I have tried from several companies. In a big knife other than cpm3v I'd rather have aus8 instead of a lot of premium steels cause it'll take mega abuse and not be chipped like crazy requiring hours like some premium steels would to correct!!!

You can get the stonewashed Saber grind version for as low as 68 bucks!!!

I like it! AUS 8 Japan is good steel! I have a SRK AUS 8 Japan and its around $180. Japan made knives are really good! That's a good decent knife! Thanks for the review!

You could buy some Pull the Dot straps for your scout carry.
That’s what I did for my Cold Steel Mini Tac Bowie.

It is a good knife and tough even with the steel choice used and Cold Steel uses Japanese AUS8a and it's good blade steel that's very affordable.
I have two of those the New Stonewashed and the Older Satin Finish version with the hollow ground blade and the Stonewashed has a Saber Grind and is a few ounces more weight because of that fact.

if jim bowie saw people using his knife to chop wood, instead of chopping a person in defence. he would be shaking his head in disgust.

If you seriously believe that Jim bowie ONLY used his knife for killing, then I wonder how much you ACTUALLY know about surviving the wild west in 17 or 1800's because that statement is pure foolishness

This knife reminds me of the Blackjack Anaconda that I had back in the 1980’s.
Wish I knew what I had back then.
The Marauder Bowie might be a great replacement.

Bit odd if people complains lot about the sub hilt. Im not sure what its purpose is because idk much about bowies, but if it gets peoples way while working they could just cut it off. Theres nothing wrong modifying tools for personal liking imho

    • @bladetherapy3797
      @bladetherapy3797  2 роки тому

Thus is the stonewashed version, but using 2000 grit sandpaper to remove rust spots removed most of the stonewash look, living at the ocean- EVERYTHING is salty lol, and aus 8 being high carbon does get little rust dots

No..the Bowie was intended to fight in first place..but in second place to Hunt and survive the extreme conditions in desserts and in the woods and Mountains.
You know how hard those conditions been in the 1800's?
But its True.. a Bowie knife is in the first place a weapon..and a very dangerous one.
I am a Bowie knife collector..
      And i also use them..
The most of my Bowie's are strong like hell.
You are right that a hatchet or axe is for chopping wood.
But the Bowie's is have can do it even better..although better then a short hand axe.
Unbenivble how strong some Bowie's are..
