The Marauder knife was inspired by the formidable combat knives of WWII and honors the name of Merrill's Marauders -- also known by their code name Galahad, the United States renowned long range, deep penetration assault unit within the South East Asian theater of conflict. The Cold Steel Marauder Bowie is rugged, relentless and reliable. A true battle ready Bowie.
The huge, extra broad AUS8A steel blade on the Marauder has a long curved cutting edge with deep wide blade bevels and formidable clip point. The Marauder's full tang is encased in a double quillion sub hilt Kray-Ex™ handle that is impervious to the elements and incredibly comfortable. The sturdy and versatile Secure-Ex™ sheath allows the knife to be fastened comfortably and securely on a belt or pack, or LBV. - Наука та технологія
I got the serrated version of this! Serrated blades are FAR more destructive against flesh, I cant think of a more effective knife for combat than this. This blade will truly offer maximum damage against adversaries if your back is against the wall. I ordered one and showed my dad, then he threw me a $100 bill and said, “Order me one too!”
It's an absolutely foreboding thing.
I love the look of the Marauder ,that blade is a Cold Steel home run hit out the park with the bases loaded ,a Grand Slam.
I’m surprised it isn’t more popular.
You are most welcome. Glad I could do it for you. One of our hard-core knife guys at Blade HQ bought the Marauder the other day and was rocking it on his hip yesterday. It was proof to me that this knife is a winner. If Parker buys it, guaranteed it's great.
One of the best med priced Cold Steel knives and good material with Aus8a and the sheath, good and tough as well a light weight blade for chopping ,cutting and whatever else you need a good blade to do.
Just for a heads up, the K-Bar is a WWII MARINE CORPS knife, and I own both of these. The Marauder is a beast in the bush.
The Marauder is based off an old WW2 Marine Corp Raider Knife. And its is, just as it was, badass. Most people however don't even know who the Raiders were.
It's interesting to know that about the design.
The self defense aspect of the marauder is inflicting instant fear on anyone you point the knife at.
8yrs later and I bought this knife the other day. It’s still just as good. But I’d say it didn’t come hair shaving sharp, which is fine by me
Ben, thanks for attending my request. This is really a very nice knife. I am wanting that each day more. Thanks, man.
"as you can see this handle has some contours in it.. that I enjoy..."
Holy Moly, what a big nice knife!!!
Love this knife, glad I have one.
Wow thanks for the heads up on this fixed blade, looks beasty and i do love my Bowie style blades. I would like to see it go up against the Marine Raider (which i have), i think this will have to go onto the wish list. I really digg your honesty in these overviews Ben, keep up the quality work, best wishes and take care
That's the best category to put these ones in. :)
You are right Ben, just thought i would throw my two sense in, great knife, it is based off of a combat bowie that the Marine Raiders carried in WWII, Merrell comes from Merrell's Marauders in WWII. Army special ops unit in the Burma/Chinese theater. They were very successful in terrorizing the Japanese with these bowies, as you can imagine. Thanks for the great review and one of the only ones out there pretty much worth anything.

@@adods9824 i appreciate your vigilance. I was concerned about that misspelling from a decade ago.
You did a good job drawing the flock of pagasi lol
Comparison vid ?
Buck 119 or the marauder?? Cant decide!!
Like it !
Keep in mind that this and the Ontario raider bowie is about the same length.
However, this is 11 oz and Ontario bowie raider is 24oz
In a fight , this is has tactical advantage
Ontario is like a modernized Case classic style. I'm leaning towards this and cutting off the subhilt. I want my XL Espada and Talwars too but looking at this as a BOB big blade.
if a Bowie at all, also considering the Ontario sp-8 for the big chopper. no machete or hawk/hatchet. two things I learned from my hobo days, versatile and multitasking quality implements, and not a ton of them/travel light. I never got down to living off game or often staying warm by fire, but the principles were the same
In a fight, my 50 cent razer wins every day.
@@mattverellen8750interesting life man. Maybe blog it all, or a book?

What are some bowie knives similar to this in style? I really like the design and shape of the blade but I would prefer the blade to be made out of a higher quality steel.
that one Tops Prather Bowie has similar blade shape, if not even more extreme of a clip. higher quality
I need this to keep my espada xl company
+Erik Gruber no. Had a chance to see it in person. went with a chaos tanto instead. this was too light and the guard was rubber
U.S. Marine Corp had the Kabar. The Army was more of Randall.
Could you do an overview of some of the Shadow Tech Knives?
This looks like a great small machete,,,
What Is The Width At The Widest Point?
Yes!!
dude you should have compared it to the Ontario marine raider
I love this knife
It looks nothing like the Fighting knives of ww2. Yeah its clipped but that's it. Looks more like a Bowie than a Ka-Bar. Looks great none the less
WWII, Merrill's Marauders fought the japa with big Bowies..so yes, WWII knife!
nice tactical clothespin
I wish you guys shipped to Canada
And Australia !
I heard that the guard on the knife is plastic?
Kraton, rubbery stuff
May only be "9 inches"...but it has a huge belly for cutting..
Wether a knife is good or not depends on the job and ones personal preference. I like this knife, would put it in the "dont fuck with me" category ;-)
Whether
4:00 Tacticow... 🐮🤠
Bk9 is not that much diff in price. I'd say Bk9 is more multi purpose, but the Marauder is a better straight up fighter
Taiwan makes some good stuff actually and I can tell you this one is nice. They are not China...politically they both claim to be the rightful ruler of each other but ultimately they are separate nations.
The handle is Krayton. Just like advertised by cold steel.
K-Bar was Marine issue...NOT Army
Its a prettier yet more of a girly marine raider bowie. Its awesome looking but ehhh.
Yes it is plastic.
Not a fan of sub hilt fighters, I personally would rather have it without a sub hilt
Cut it off!
Like all Cold Steel knives, they use AUS8 steel which is marginal at best. If it was SK5 (their cheap 1095) it would be much better. Will take a big pass on this. What ever happened to the VG1 knives they where making?
They have much better steel on some of there other blades…they have a really good heat treating process on there aus 8 btw
@@cjsmith5818agreed! Their, btw 👍😊
You can buy the Becker bk9 for less than this Chinese/Taiwan POS! The bk9 is American made and 1095 high carbon steel.
Far superior to the Kabar.
Sorry. Was really excited about the Marauder BUT with the center of balance being about 3/4 inch forward of the guard - not for me. CoB either on the guard or just behind would make for a much lively blade in the hand and would not handle like poor mans machete. Cold Steel has lost a sale here with me.
or you are blind or don't know what but that two knives nothing have similar not look similar nothing at all :D
I'm sorry? :)
i hate the look of the plastic handle
Me too, but it works!! Same goes for the OSI / OSS too !
Made in Taiwan
zombie weapon
thats not a tactical closepin, its not black
Lol!
