    I have notice that on the reviews comparing apple watch with pebble they don't mention that Pebble says that you can swim with your watch (up to 30 meters deep) while apple recommend not to take showers with it. That for me it the most important reason why I got a Pebble.

    Pebble (all 4 of them) are e-paper, NOT e-ink (electrophoretic ink)! Specifically Pebble uses a transflective memory in pixel LCD.

    I love the real buttons on my Pebble Time Steel because I swim with the watch, and a touchscreen smart phone is hard to use when I have very wet hands, like when I'm in between laps. The Apple Watch isn't waterproof, either, unlike the Pebble, which is waterproof up to 30 meters. I love it!

      +Brian Bourgeois According to my friends who actually have Apple watches, the Apple watch is not waterproof. It is just water resistant. Also, according to iphone FAQ, "No, Apple Watch is splash and water resistant, but not waterproof. The Apple Watch has a water resistance rating of IPX7 under IEC standard 60529. This means the watch will survive if you wash your hands while wearing it or if it gets caught in the occasional rain storm, but you should take it off when swimming." www.iphonefaq.org/archives/973764 #getyourfactsstraight

    It's all about battery life. I had the Apple Watch, had to remove it every night and charge it. The pebble I charge on Sunday night and can keep it on to work as a wake up alarm all week long. You forget to charge the Apple Watch and you are screwed.

    I have been using an apple watch for 6 months, before that I used the Pebble Time. I've just returned to the Time and I am falling in love again with it's simplicity and all the features that a user really wants to have on a smartwatch. The concept makes it a lot more convenient to do what a watch is supposed to do -> manage my time.

    One thing to note, that although Pebble doesn't make an official app for BlackBerry and Windows Phones. The Pebble watch works perfectly fine on both platforms through third-party apps, such as Talk2Watch on BlackBerry. I know Windows has something similar. This is something that can't be or at least hasn't been done with any other Smartwatch on the market. Recently Talk2Watch for BlackBerry updated to be able to support Pebble Time as well, and gives you full access to the Pebble App Store to download watch faces and apps for both the Pebble smart watches and the Pebble Time smart watches.

    The pebble and Apple watch are very different products. The Apple watch does so much more. Which is great. The pebble doesn't do as much, because it was never meant to. The pebble is really great about letting you know what's going on with your phone (notificaitons, phone calls, etc..) and then letting you get on with your day. The somewhat recent addition of pebble health is nice with the steps and sleep tracking.. but at the end of the day, the pebble is a good watch that lasts for more than two days, is smaller, cheaper, looks better (pebble time round) and does two things really well. Tells the time, and lets you know when someone/an app is trying to get a hold of you. The Apple watch tries to be everything that your phone is. And if that is what you are looking for, then it is a great fit.

      Nice thing with the Apple Watch is you have the ability to just let it be a notification device and disable everything else. If I do that with my Apple Watch I can get 2 days sometimes 3 days out of it.

    I own a Pebble (Kickstarter backer) and a Pebble Time (Kickstarter backer) and an Apple Watch iron steel. My Pebble Time arrived first in my mailbox and I used it for about one month. Then I decided to buy an Apple Watch. After one month of Apple Watch use, I haven't touched the Pebble Time once yet. No contest. Period. Yes the Time can take a shower (and a swim) and the battery lasts days. But that's about it. Apple trashes Pebble in about everything else. I especially love the health/fitness features of the Apple.

      +MBJ all about investors. with the first one I assume they found a screen they wanted and built the operating system to natively use that resolution but unfortunately when they went for colour no screen existed in the same resolution (with the outdoor visibility and battery life) so they got screens with more pixels than needed and covered the extra with bezel, thus the time and time steel dont look sleek. they have survived this long against very very big competition from established brands so I really hope they can get a bespoke screen next time and nail the design as well as the functionality (which is still killer on my black and white original pebble from years ago!)

    Heres my two cents. I have an apple watch, and a pebble time, and used to have the original pebble.
    The apple watch does have worse battery life, yes, but honestly, no matter which one I wear, I charge it at night. So, either way, it doesn't really matter to me, and I'm sure there are a lot of people who don't sleep with their watch on, smartwatch or not..
    Something I really wish the Apple watch has is more third party support. I love the third party watch faces on the pebble, and the ability to make my own.
    Siri on the apple watch makes things so much easier honestly, I can easily send or reply to texts from my watch, take calls, get directions, its so easy. Makes driving easier as well.
    Being a runner, being able to connect bluetooth headphones to my watch, sync a playlist from my phone , and run without my phone, is such a huge benefit. I understand this doesn't apply to everyone, I'm not the only one that does this.
    I like the comfort of the Pebble better, but the haptic thingy that gives you a subtle, yet noticeable vibration is much better than the vibration of the pebble. Its a trade off there.
    Apple watch has more capability that the Pebble Time, but I think its worth it. It is no doubt a better watch in terms of capability, because it literally can do everything the Pebble can, better, besides water resistance, band compatibility, and probably a couple other things. But overall, I like the Apple Watch more.

    For me personally I don't think any smartwatch will ever compare to the Pebble Time,
    Unfortunately as it comes closer to the server shutdown i realise that there is no smart watch with the combination of features that the pebble offers.
    Colour E paper display... (should be the standard)
    Solid battery life
    Light weight and very comfortable
    Small (cute) design that doesn't look silly on small wrists
    Physical buttons
    Reliable notifications
    Voice dictation for messaging
    fully water proof
    Good auto sleep tracking
    Button shortcuts
    even some decent entry level fitness tracking
    all at a reasonable price too!
    I knew replacing my Time would be a difficult decision come server shutdown however i kinda imagined that there would be a decent alternate out there by now

    Now a days with these new smart watches, calling the Pebble time a smart watch is quite a stretch now. The Pebble line is nothing more than a notification receiver, displaying rich notification when available. The Apple Watch can do all of that with the ability to utilize applications much like the phone itself. The 10 day battery is nice, but I would take a legitimate smart watch like the Apple Watch or many of the Android Watches over this any day!

    To be honest, I don't know why people think that apple watch looks good, It's ugly as fuck compared to moto 360, huawei watch. I will pick pebble over apple watch any day, software is so much better designed and intuitive and straps are not limited like there are on apple watch.

    • @michaeldew7842
      @michaeldew7842 9 років тому

      As a pebble time (iOS) user the only downside is not being able to respond to notifications. But yeah Moto 360 is beautiful, 2nd gen hopefully will make it fully circular display. Then all we have to do is wait for android wear to be iOS compatible 😂

    • @Cyb3rPhoenixGaming

      Michael Dew Don't think *Android Wear* will be compatible with *iOS*

    • @helithumper
      @helithumper 9 років тому

      Michael Dew Keep in mind that Apple did not add a notification api for the pebble for this specific reason. Apple thinks that by limiting their competitors on ios that they can gain a monopoly on ios smartwatches. The only reason pebble is allowed to utilize ios is so that Apple can say "there is always the other option"

    What this guy fails to mention in this and his other pebble vids is that the functionality of the pebble with an Apple phone is drastically reduced when compared to using with an Android phone. This is not a fault of Pebble but of Apple.
    I was seriously considering getting a pebble but other reviewers have cautioned that they don't work nearly as well with an iPhone and it is not a realistic alternative to an Apple watch for us IOS users.
    To be honest although I do like all the Apple products I have I am starting to get more and more pissed @ Apple for the locked down approach they are using. I can now buy a tablet for the half the price of my iPad Air that has more functionality , memory expansion and ease of data transfer.
    These devices are surly made to make our lives easier ? then why the hell do I have to find constant work arounds so they can perform basic tasks ?

  • @Grayds_Official

    Why don't you all stop hating on this product because it was made by Apple. These reasons in this video are not necessarily better and one of them is that the pebble MIGHT in the future have something the apple watch already has. If you didn't pay attention to who made these products, the apple watch looks better, it has more functionality, it works for time, notifications, has good build quality, is faster, and also works for people who use it for fitness and apps. I'm not an apple fanboy, but the only reason people are saying the apple watch isn't good is because it is made by apple. stop being oblivious to the specs and facts. They are also both not made for the same type of people.

    The real buttons are quite unconfortable. They are hard to press, you have to do it with two fingers. And thats why i prefer the apple watch (or any android wear sw).

    • @Doivid_
      @Doivid_ 8 років тому

      Touch screens on such a small scale aren't really that good - the reason that the Apple Watch's touch screen is good is because, well frankly, Apple kinda knows what they're doing with touch screens. I personally prefer that a watch doesn't have a touch screen because it renders them useless in water and fingerprints would cover the entire screen.

    • @yeahnoway111
