Hi, when rotating the front ring on the gear to select an app. you don't have to click on the small icon to open it, it's enough to point to it and click the center of the screen, that's the way it was designed.

Sorry to disappoint you but "Super Amoled" is just OLED,it's just like a marketing thing. "Super Amoled" sounds way more appealing than "Oled",same with Super LCD of HTC,and Trilominous of Sony,do you want another one? "Retina" display of Apple,is just a high density display,but retina sounds more appealing,nowadays all smartphones have "Retina display" but we associate Retina with Apple because that's how marketing works,and we can tell that it does work because your comment.

yeah they're brigther and shit,just like any other generation would have (regardless of thedisplay technology) it's stupid to say (i'm not saying that you said that) that they would use the same oleds and just call them "super amoleds",it's better because it's a newer generation,but uses the same display technology buddy

I am not convinced with the idea of smart watches really. Like what's the point of having a smart watch that does what all your smart devices do, but with a smaller display view?

Basil Jabri+ well if these watches evolve far enough maybe they will be like a stand alone tech. a smaller than a phone on the go calling, texting and basic apps use thing.
These comments are so ridiculous. Apple don't suck, Samsung don't suck. They both make fantastic products we all benefit from. How wonderful we get to choose either of these watches. How wonderful we get to choose an iPhone or an Android phone, a Mac or a Windows PC. These companies are making cool stuff.
I personally prefer the round face of the Samsung watch and the rotatable bezel is preferable to a crown (for me). My Issue with Apple is they won't open up their products for people outside the Apple realm. The Apple watch should work with an Android phone. Facetime should be released for the Android OS (just like Google hangouts and Android Wear are offered on IOS) Don't be so stingy, Apple!
+The Vlogging Kid I'm not a huge fan of Samsung at all, but I think the Gear S2 is gorgeous (it's what I expected from Apple when they announced their watch). I'm not a fan boy of anyone, but I think it's lame that Apple don't open up their technology to run on other platforms. That's the opposite of being a fanboy - it's promoting choice.

However Samsung did obviously try to out due Apple and i believe they succeeded, such a comfortable design and I'm glad they tried a circle to keep it classic and made it work.

With the gear s2 round design and rotating bezel for controls it cramps the apps down to the outter edge and vastly limits the amount of apps to just enough to go around the screen where as Apple Watch allows limitless apps to float around in empty space and never fills up

IP68 does allow for Amy compliant device to be submerged into water for 30 minutes without risk of damage but the term is water resistance, not waterproof.
Assuming the water itself is not of the saltwater variety or laced with chlorine, either watches can handle a dip; just don't expect to get a warranty replacement unless the watch itself has a defect.

you can flip the orientation of the apple watch so the when worn on the right wrist the digital crown is on the left side so it's much easier to use than reaching across the watch like you did in this video.

I have an iPhone, iPad and a MacBook but I think the Apple Watch looks really silly with its rectangular shape. It's far from intuitive and annoying to use. Samsung's Gear S2 Classic, in my opinion, rocks and is the better of the two devices. I am going to buy the Gear S2 eventually as I use the Blackberry Priv.

Although I love Apple Products, and I own a MacBook Pro and an iPad Air, I have to say that the Gear S2 blows the Apple Watch by far.

You can flip the watch on the Apple watch so the crown can be worn on both sides depending if you are left or right handed. Nice feature I say.

Nice comparison. Thanks. From a designer's viewpoint I find the Samsung bezel a great innovation, nicer then for instance the adaptive bezel of the Chinese Ticwatch. And don't forget, the ring bezel is great for left handed people. That thingy on the Apple watch is on the wrong side for left handed persons.
I love the look of the Apple Watch. Was very sceptical at first, thought it was stupid, but it grew on me and I did eventually buy one. I got the Apple sport watch a week ago. I do like how the S2 looks like an actual watch, I just don't like the fact that the touch screen is minimal, always having to turn the dial on the watch face. To each there own I guess, not everybody is gonna like the Apple Watch, or vice versa the S2.

One thing we know is that both smart watches are fantastic. They both have pros and cons, it’s up to consumers to buy whatever they want. But here’s one thing I’ve noticed, Apple Watch is more on a futuristic design compare to other smart watches. While Samsung is leaning more toward a classic design that’s pretty convenient for some people.
Apple Watch: Design is pretty much futuristic with a decent square-ish design and a fantastic operating system.
Samsung Gear: Holds onto classical design of a round shape and a great battery life.
Google should sue Apple for that "force touch" crap. Android has had that for years, and Apple is saying that it's an "innovation" from them.

Both very productive watches. The ability to leave your phone at home with the gear s2 is what put it over the top for me.

great review as usual. Keep up the good work. You didn't mention the Dick Tracy feature of making and taking calls. The S 2 3G should be able to do that. Would have been nice to see you make a call on the s2 and see how loud the speaker is. By the way, I still love my gear s and think it's a great looking watch. Who wants to look like anyone else and everyone else anyway? hey, many of us are in the market for new mobile workstations. Dell is coming out with new precision workstations and HP is doing the same. Would love to see some good reviews for mobile workstations that can handle good video editing.

Very, VERY well made. Nice job. Honestly I do have an Apple Watch and I love it but I'd of course be open to android watches. I'm not an "Apple fanboy" and personally think android has a lot more to offer but I'm happy with my iPhone for now, whether people think that's stupid or not is their opinion :) Thanks.
I'm definitely an apple guy when it comes to phones, but I really like the style and functionality of the gear s2, and being that it is now iOS compatible makes it even better.
However, I'm still torn. The last few days my gear s2 died after 8 hours of use, with my screen brightness at 3, wifi off, almost no notifications, almost no location services, and my screen off. Maybe I have a faulty battery?!?! The time on my weather widget is also showing an hour ahead, even though I've reset the watch, and cycled the location on and off in the weather app. Idk, I'll give it another day or so with the gear s2 before deciding if I want to spend the extra money on an Apple Watch.

I love the way the original gear s looks & feel I love how the screen is bigger so you can do more and you can make phone calls. not to mention the curved edges with the s6 edge is a killer combination.

are we ever going to see the Gear S3? Is it worth the wait or should I just buy the S2? From what I've read the differences are LTE calling, GPS, and Samsung Pay.
gear s3 will not be game game changer so i would recommend you to buy the s2 when the s3 comes so that the prices will be lower.(gear s2 owner btw)
Even the gear s2 has samsung pay, your going to be spending an extra 80-100 pounds to be able to make calls from a watch which is just going to look dumb.
Darren Hall looked at the s3 today...it's not as "classy" and a lot more clunky, which personally I don't like. I'd get the s2, which you CAN make calls from if you buy it from a cell phone carrier which attaches it to a data plan. The other Bluetooth version will notify you of calls, but you pick it up on your phone.
FishyJoe I have the Gear S3 and I make and receive calls by Bluetooth headset and it's so nice to be able to go running without my phone and not missing calls
I have the s3 too. My biggest problem is that the gear store does not have apps that people use on a daily. I was not impressed that there's no music streaming app like pandora, etc. I love the fact that it's a stand alone watch where u don't need to have your phone on u. I go running a lot so I thought this watch would b perfect. Need more compatible apps man. Need pandora asap!

The Samsung won't let you use your watch as a Bluetooth handset for your phone. Apple Watch does. The older Samsung Gear 2 and gear S will. Not this one.
+driven01 They do have a 3g version of this watch which can be used to make and receive calls. With the Samsung Gear S2 you don't need your phone at all. it is completly independent.
Karen Gambon They don't have a 3G version of the S2 classic, which the only one I am really interested in. (The standard S2 has a proprietary wristband, I prefer standard wristbands and a more dignified look that the classic provides.)

Yea, but only on the 3G model as it has the mic support and speaker for calls. The regular Gear S2 doesn't have that option
He didn't come close to the features both watches have to offer. You have to use both watches to even make a judgment call otherwise your opinion is just an opinion. I'm sure there are things that are great with both but I was hoping he would touch on how he used both watches. The S2 does look like a traditional watch face and that is pretty cool. Overall they both look nice and that's an opinion like most of these comments.

If you wear the apple watch on youre right wrist you need to flip it around. Then using the crown wont block the screen. it asks you this durring the set up i dont know how you missed this...... the crowin works better than the samsing dial. ive used both trust me.
I hate people who wear Watches on their right arm when they are right handed... If you are leFt handed then you wear a watch on your right hand.... if you are right handed you wear it on the left

I have the stainless steal Apple Watch 42mm Apple Watch is FAR superior to the gear s2 I had the original gear s then I switch back to Apple and it is 10 times better try comparing a regular Apple Watch stainless steel 42 mm to that thing and you still say the gear s2 is better, it is clear who is paying you buddy.

My gear S2 cellular version can be completely stand alone from a phone. I wear it during outdoor activities like kayaking due to it's IP68 rating. Try that with your Apple watch and let us all know how that goes.
Yes, the Apple Watch is better than the Gear S2 if you're using an iPhone because the Gear S2 doesn't support iOS devices yet and even when it does, will have limited functionality compared to the Apple Watch hooked up to an iPhone.
For Samsung Galaxy smartphones and Android powered phones, the Gear S2 will be the better watch simply because the Apple Watch will never support any platform beyond iOS unless Tim Cook has a change of heart.
Also, comparing your experience to the Gear S and using that to scale the Apple Watch as better than the Gear S2 doesn't work, considering anecdotal evidence for a device that is different from the one you're claiming is inferior won't cut it.

Amin.Vlogs but, you can answer calls. It's just that you have to buy the 4g model which costs barely more than the bt/wifi. Also, bezel and overall look is better in the gear imo.
