@@timothylewis2450 My different POV….is we were so lucky this master of all guitars played live and we of different generations were soooo lucky to see him live or even listen to his recordings! I was very lucky to see him with various other performers several times . And even have him sign a couple of my LPs. May David Lindley’s music touch the ears and hearts of those who haven’t heard or seen him yet! Big thanks to those who post his live performances…in those he still lives on..and on!
Rest in peace, you wonderful human being! I feel so fortunate to have seen El Rayo X in a bar on a college campus in the 80's. They blew the roof off the joint, obviously. To this day, hearing Mercury Blues live is one of the concert-going highlights of my life.
Saw them in a small venue in Austin. Standing in front. Late 1985 as I recall. Their Mercury Blues had an opening dialogue by Lindley at the start with a great, greasy improv on the slide. Fantastic.
Cindy Schneider- Someday I wanna find out how Jackson & David bumped into each other...other than the fact that it was The Master’s plan- then a blessing for those of us listening thru so many years.
@@jackrambler3262 I have an an answer to your question that is somewhat vague, so I’ll give Cindy Schneider a couple of days to come forward and answer because she probably knows a hell of a lot more than I do.

@Jack Rambler and Cindy S. Jackson explains how he first met David Lindley and what he first felt when he heard him play alone in his dressing room. As I said , it is vague , without any details . It is contained in the video "Farther On” from the documentary “Going Home”, in Jackson’s words. Jackson explains that a friend (of his) brought Lindley to his dressing room and asked if he could play for him. At that point, Jackson explains what he felt for the first time upon hearing him. When I was a child, my parents had a '53 Mercury Deluxe with V-8 with manual overdrive. My Dad ran the Hell out of that car; He also ran a little SHINE in that capacious trunk.
Since no one else has made a comment within a year , I’m guessin’ I’m the only one out there who knows what “ SHINE’ means. I’m from Kentucky . At one time everyone was in fear of the revenuer , a government agent , during Prohibition. They were searching for stills to destroy them. Stills were all copper pots used to distill corn into 100 proof alcohol . When I was about 10 , on a trip to western KY , my father pointed out smoke or steam that was coming off of a mountain side and telling me about moonshiners. At that time you didn’t have to do it by the light of the moon. When the heat was on about making illegal whisky , I just think it was done under the light of the moon . Moonshine was still being made in the 1960’s because of the many “dry” counties in Kentucky which still exist today. When I was a teenager , I was shown a very small house in West Virginia devoid of any vegetation , but to which hundreds of pounds of sugar (instead of corn) were delivered weekly to make moonshine . To this day , August 27 , 2019 , you can still buy 100 proof moonshine in a liquor store , in Lexington Kentucky . Now it is considered part of our heritage . I’m not sure , but I think it may have a cult following . It’s everywhere , but you have to know that it is just grain alcohol , which is also readily availably in any liguor store , at least in Lexington KY.
I saw them all together in concert at the Jones Beach Theater, Long Island NY. I don't remember what year it was, but it was the best concert I've ever seen. All my favorite artists. What a night!
#1 most badass drum performance I've ever seen/heard. Sounds like a Cosmic locomotive comin' down the tracks straight out of Heaven to take us all home. All aboard!!! Kisses. Arthur. Peace
This event at Red Rocks took place on September 12 of 1999. I saw these same musicians at the Gorge in eastern Washington a few weeks earlier on August 25th, 1999. It was quite a show!
I saw them on this tour in 99 in Nampa, ID at The Idaho Center Amphitheater. It was hands-down, one of the best live shows I've ever seen! This was one of their encores. Talk about leaving a concert on a high note...
