@MaryNovak-lk1bv Ahh, it harkens back to Eric blaming Jimmy for release of some tapes of him and Jimmy just jamming, when in actual fact it was the record company that released them without Jimmy's knowledge. But Eric being the child he is could never see past that. Eric actually got Paul Rogers to ask Jimmy to do the ARMS concerts, as the big draw was to have all 3, Jimmy, Jeff, Eric on stage together. Eric has always been pettty.

Playing the full chords you gotta be perfect as one fuck up everyone will notice shredding you can fuck up as many times as you want cause there is always someone to cover your ass , Thats why Page was playing chords and happy doing so .

"Truth" was the first Jeff Beck album I heard aside from his work with the yardbirds, and it still gets me everytime. Rod Stewart's voice fit perfectly for the heavy blues influenced album, which surprised me because I knew him as the guy who sang "if you want my body and you think I'm sexy.. blah blah". Not my cup of tea, but he kills it on "Truth" and as far as Jeff, I don't think I ever heard him play a note that didn't come out exactly as he intended it to. And I was amazed at that version of the Indian song "Nadia" he did later on in his career. He did those whirling swirling Indian vocals with the guitar and it sounded beautiful.

Im still struggling with the reality of accepting the fact that Jeff Beck is no longer amongst the living.
As selfish as that may sound?
He was the best of the holy trinity of Beck, Clapton and Page in the 60s and 70s.
He was the one who was most in tune with melodic structure. Its one of the most challenging things to a guitarist.
Most of us guitarists learned the minor and major pentatonic scales and their respective patterns early, and it served us well to learn to jam to world music, blues and rock.
But to truly understand what Jeff Beck did throughout his career was to be melodic and sing with the guitar, of course depending on the musical situation.
Today I was working with a more advanced student on how to pick out melodies.
I told him to listen to Jeff Beck's recordings of 'She's a Woman', 'A Day in the Life' and 'Over the Rainbow'. What he did with those tunes was nothing short of genius.
I went on about identifying the key and go with the proper key and scales to find the right notes.
The notes will be there and its your job to find those melodies within those notes of the scale.
I had him pick out the melody of "Over the Rainbow"...he kind of struggled to find the notes...then I told him, "think of the notes in the key of G, and you'll find them."
Sure enough...notes all natural, with the exception of F#.
    Then...he found them.
Im so sorry to have heard this news so suddenly.
Mr Beck...Ive had the privilege to witness your virtuosity live when you toured with Santana in the 90s.
RIP Jeff Beck...your legacy will remain with us forever, and we'll never forget you.

I've always admired great guitar players my whole life. I've always known of Jeff Beck but never allowed myself to listen to more of his playing. Ikr?!! Spent the night at a friend's house several years ago, and after he called it a night, I continued to stay up and watch VH1 Classic. Jeff Beck was playing. I saw something in him that mesmerized me. The way he could make that guitar literally speak to you man. Unlike Page, Hendrix, Gilmour and Eddie Van Halen, he had not only his own unique style, but left you no choice in being a fan. Talented is not the word. This man was born to blow your mind on a guitar with such meaning. RIP JEFF BECK. What you brought to the table is nothing but legendary. ❤

This is just EXACTLY what you want. Just like Jimmy Page said one time. "It's gonna be loud." That's the purpose of these guitars. Jeff Beck used to burn out those vacuum tubes in the Vox amplifiers he used. Neither one of them babied their equipment with some nice and easy sounds. They're like the Picasso's of experimentation and creativity. What's pathetic, is that music "critics", including goofs on youtube, magazines, etc.., think you can "analyze" what they did. That's convenient, isn't it? AFTER the fact. You can't describe either one of them, and you never will. Both of them took guitar into an entirely different realm where the instrument had never been before. And everybody since, including the amplifier, guitar centre equipment industry, owes EVERYTHING to them. And everybody, including their brother, their sister, their sister's brother, their aunts and uncles, have copied what they've done, and still use what they've done in their own bands and on record labels. Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page started out with sheer force, and NEVER stopped being experts at it! It's too bad their guitar sounds weren't heard in previous centuries.

After Rod Stewart left the band, JB tried a couple of singers, but he couldn't find one that felt and sounded right, so he decided to only do instrumental. He knew it would affect him financially, but he just wanted to make great music and see how far he could take the guitar (which was pretty far). It's all about the music, the craft, for him. That's why he only cares about someone's talent. Beyond Tal, he's had many female musicians in his bands. And "Truth" is one of the greatest albums ever made. Beck came from rock roots but he was an explorer. He could have put together a Stones or Zeppelin type super group but he was an innovator. He was bored by that. He went to places no one had been before. He created a completely new rock music genre. How many notes did it take to recognize a Jeff Beck song that you had never heard before? One or two. You knew right away it was Beck. Unmistakable. It's one thing to be original and another to be great but Beck was both. Which is rare. Long live Jeff Beck.

Born in '86. Therefore she's 23 in this video and was 21 when she played at Crossroads with JB in 2007. So it's close, but she wasn't a teen.

Rick Hibdon - As a 15 year old I was also lucky enough to Jeff Beck with the Jan Hammer Group in Feb 1977 at the Hordern Pavilion here in Sydney , Australia. As you know Jeff Beck was in his full on Jazz rock period at that stage and I didn't appreciate the performance at the time , as the 15 year old me was only interested in his Yardbirds/1960s solo work with Rod Stewart, I'm still glad I saw the show in 77 and very glad Beck recorded a live LP with Jan Hammer from that tour as it wasn't till 10/11 years later I fully appreciated his 1975-1980 Jazz rock phase, I've subsequently seen him twice over over the last 15 years here in Sydney at the Enmore theatre down the road from my place , both times with Aussie bassist Tal Wikenfield and Narada Michael Walden on drums - fantastic shows and I got Jeff's autograph . 🎸👍😎
