RIP Jeff Beck. Thank you for your music and for inspiring many guitarists/musicians around the world. You’re still the best. God bless 🙏🏻🕊🎸
🙏😢🙏
Yeah I JUST saw the news. Damn. All the real talent is fading away.
Amen 🙏
Had to find some Beck to play for this sad day. Got to see him solo in 1980. Seeing Jeff give Jimmy a big hug was beautiful.
He was and still is my guitar God we will miss you Jeff Beck
*_Old rockers don't die... they turn into guitar solos... crossing the blue sky._*
*_Rest in Peace...Jeff._*
That’s a beauty
BEAUTIFULLY said ! T y.FLINT MI
Omy lord !!! Lol Mr. Jimmie Page n our JEFF BECK ! A TOTAL TREAT FOR MYSELF !!thank u FROM FLINT MI.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Beck was more a Blues guy, wasn't he?
Beck and Page definitely earned their way into the Rock and Roll hall of Fame
Oh hell ya
No frickin' way could any sane, rational person deny the two of them the honor.
THey are in it for FAME and not musicianism.
Page, Beck and Clapton are the most overrated guitarists, all-time. They are average players, well Beck and Clapton are. Page is horrible.
No shit, really...? Thats like saying spaghetti sauce belongs with spaghetti. Come on..
@@bobabooey4537 Jeez, who peed in your Cheerois?
A legend died today. Rest in peace, Mr. Beck.
Did you know that, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page were all school mate's?? What the hell was in that water?! RIP Jeff.. You are definitely one of the greats!! 🤘
Really? Do you have a source for that? I know that Frank Zappa & Captain Beefheart were classmates for sure.
Yeah, we in South Louisiana got a saying of something in the water....
Actually Page went to school with Beck’s sister. She told Beck about a guy that did the guitar thing also and they met up at 14 years old. Clapton lived in a nearby town. Ron Wood also lived in the area. He knew Page and Beck.
@@rickjason215 That sounds about right. It would have been nice if they had been at school together. Certainly all good solid Home Counties boys.
@aloysiussnailchaser272 Ron Wood tells a story that he was riding the bus with Beck and they saw their friend Page with a guitar case walking, and they yelled to him to hurry up, to catch the bus and they were laughing at him.
Love how Beck can use his guitar as a substitute for Plant's voice on Immigrant Song. RIP Jeff Beck
Substitute isn't the word I'd use...
He's done this countless of times on a countless number of songs he has covered.
As with his own songs....The lyrics are in the licks ;) :)
That bass player lady looks like Jean Millington but she can’t play any more
@@peteyule5503 Her name is Tal Wilkenfeld. If you haven't heard of her, she's worth checking out.
Anyone who has said that Jeff Beck doesn’t sing has not heard him play.
Jeff Beck did things with a guitar that didn’t seem humanly possible. An absolutely unique musician and we are lucky to have been alive during his career. Thank you and RIP, Jeff. Peace and sincere condolences to your family.
Especially - being alive to walk this earth with and enjoy Jeff in person…
Forever grateful. (As my daughter has said: you were alive dad when all this happened!)
I had the same feeling in my previous life with Beethoven
no one else like him! ❤😊 RIP legendary 🎸 😊
Had the great fortune of seeing him live from the ‘60s and throughout his career. It was a head scratcher every time wondering how in world he did it. It’s a terrible loss for all of us. 😢
Yes people try to compare him even to Hendrix, Jimmy was out there but didn't have the clarity and note expression that Jeff Beck had. He rarely played extremely distorted just freking jammed all his songs.
Love the way that old Jimmy is just happy to play the chords.
No he's not he missed his solo on Train Kept a Rollin. Something happened and a guitar tech had to come fix it around 12:25
@@dogsquadindia ooo good eye!
It's a perfect riff.
Apparently he was gonna do a solo but didn't have his own guitar
The chording is the most difficult and important part in any song as it's what gives the melody , the shredder might get the recognition from the crowd but it's the Rythem section who gets the respect from the band . Playing the full chords you gotta be perfect as one fuck up everyone will notice shredding you can fuck up as many times as you want cause there is always someone to cover your ass , Thats why Page was playing chords and happy doing so .
Jimmy plays no back seat or second place to anyone but he is all about the music and he knows when Beck is on let him do his thing Jimmy always admired greatness had no ego like many other guitarists the music is what mattred to him he has no ego he knew his own ability and greatness
Umm...page had no ego? Ummm
.....
@@dogsquadindia I think this was in the context of other guitarists. I really don't remember him having a history of being critical of the other greats. May be "no ego" is overly broad, but the point was right on. He referred to himself as a "mere mortal" compared to Beck.
Yep, I agree, about the Egos...
Whilst I love most of zeppelins riffs, I never rated Jimmy Page live, the live aid gig was totally shocking, Beck on the other hand was a different ball game.
Jeff has known Jimmy Page since he was 14! His sister introduced him to Jimmy...Jeff's sister told Jeff that there was a guy down the street that was into that stuff like him...She then took Jeff down the street to meet Jimmy and that was the start of a lifetime friendship and a life of music for both🎸🎸🎸🎶🎶
I met Jeff backstage at a BB King concert in Georgia one time. I was just hanging out talking to a friend and Jeff just walked up and said "What's going on". He was a really nice guy. We talked for a few minutes, got some photos and then he left. One of the most surreal moments of my life
That’s very cool.
I arrived at Heathrow at the same time as him and as I cleared customs I saw a well dressed chauffeur holding a sign reading Geoff Beck, I said to him he had spelt that wrong then a few minutes later the driver walks out of the terminal followed by a very scruffy Jeff Beck hauling his own luggage behind him
@@guyeasterbrook8694 possibly to not let the public onto who?
Good 2 know. Humble
@@guyeasterbrook8694 Actually, his full name is Geoffrey Arnold Beck, but professionally he's always gone by Jeff Beck.
RIP Jeff Beck. So glad I got to see you play years ago at Crossroads. One of the most talented guitarists of all times
🙏🎸🙏
@@direstraightsno 88 hu
Fortunate enough to see Jeff Beck play in concert in Brighten, East Sussex in England. Jeff was playing in top form, thoroughly enjoyed his concert!
crossroads in chicago is a gr8 vid on you tube Linda, with Tal
Saw Carlos Santana warm-up for him in St. Louis what an incredible experience
The sheer genius of Jeff Beck is down to his sensitive touch. He gives each note its own individual character.
that is so true and I guess that's what set him apart from most other guitarists... In this video, it's just a staggering contrast between Jeff's wizardry and then the way Joe Perry plays his solo (like an average fast rock player, but basically every note sounds the same!)
He had the ultra-rare ability to make the guitar an organic part of himself. We're all so very fortunate to have spent time on this planet with such a force. #RIPJeffBeck
Exactly my friend!! 👍
I agree, Peter. And I believe that his playing without a pick helped him to achieve his individual uniqueness of character and accomplishments. Also, he did seem to become one with his guitars whenever he performed. And he somehow channeled his thoughts and feelings through his guitars in a very spiritual kind of way.
yup...he got inside the notes
RIP Jeff Beck. Thank you for everything you did musically--you are always one of the absolute best. Bolero will always stop me dead in my tracks. Respect, love.
Yes and Jeff Beck is my guitar God I will miss him
So good no one can play his stuff. Vibrato master, best of the best
Well said. Beck's Bolero should be made the official theme song to the Rock Hall!
Truth, no pun intended
bolero is as relevant today, awesome track
You don't need vocals because Jeff Beck can make his guitar sing.
He did it before the other rock guitarists.
rock shouldn't be sung.
Yes...they all know to let Beck take the lead on the last song too...Ive seen them all except Hendrix. Beck is the best. Everyone knows the quote "When Jeff is 'on', he's the best there is". I wholeheartedly agree. Nobody makes a guitar sing like Beck. He just.didnt have the hits. Who cares.

I'm stunned I've never seen this before. That finale. The sheer amount of talent on stage is just insane, and put a smile on my face almost as big as Jeff and Jimmy's.
And that bass player is slaying it, too! Forget her name, sorry.
Jason Newsted.
@@emilyflotilla931 Tal Wilkenfeld
she's fantastic isn't she!!?
Those smiles just jump off the stage!! Jimmy has become such a big happy smiling gentleman since 'It might get loud" All these guys got to be thinking about the inevitable. Like when am I next.
@@deketk I saw her at Martyrs in Chicago in the early 00s. Great bassist! I guess the late Jeff Beck thought so, too! A great compliment.
I first saw Jeff Beck fifty years ago with a unknown singer who you might have heard of R. Stewart and then five more times after that. The tears that roll down my face and the heart break is for his family. R.I.P. my hero Jeff Beck.
"Truth" was the first Jeff Beck album I heard aside from his work with the yardbirds, and it still gets me everytime. Rod Stewart's voice fit perfectly for the heavy blues influenced album, which surprised me because I knew him as the guy who sang "if you want my body and you think I'm sexy.. blah blah". Not my cup of tea, but he kills it on "Truth" and as far as Jeff, I don't think I ever heard him play a note that didn't come out exactly as he intended it to. And I was amazed at that version of the Indian song "Nadia" he did later on in his career. He did those whirling swirling Indian vocals with the guitar and it sounded beautiful.
Thank goodness somebody finally mentioned little Hot Rod!! That On of a Kind Voice & Jeff Beck’s guitar?!! This poor generation has Nothin to compare with these guys!! ✌️
Pagey has said that when Jeff is ON he's the best guitar player in the world. Beck is the musician's musician...his technique is so original, versatile and flawless it defies comprehension by gods and mortals alike.
Everyone knows Punky Meadows is more fluid than Jeff Beck. Look it up.
There's no convincing the ignorants of their ignorance. I am in complete agreement with you, Mr. J. Page, Mr. E. Clapton, and millions of others. The man is on another planet when he's in stride. That said, he is also somewhat of an acquired taste......you have to have listened to a untold hours on end of listening to guitar players of all genres to really appreciate what J Beck is offering. With that, I'll completely dismiss the claims made by others that 'their' player is better than Beck
Jeff is always ON. Page and lots of other guitar players are in 2nd place, Beck is without peer.
I like Jeff and there is no doubt he is the master. That all said his actual songs are not so great. Because we Ended as Lovers is a classic. I guess as I have grown older I tend to enjoy music that is less technical and more about feel and tone. Jeff falls more into the shredder category. When I was young I loved that style of play and now not so much. He is truly gifted and has kept it going for decades and that is incredible.
I heard a funny noise this morning, it was my stratocaster gently weeping.
Jeff is the greatest guitarist ever! Jimi was fantastic, but Jeff took it to a new level. Never get tired of hearing him rip it up. He will be missed. RIP!
Jeff's tone is very shrill and thin. What songs did he contribute to Rock history after the Yardbirds? Jimmy (and Jimi if you mean Hendrix) will stand the test of time because great songs endure much more than great solos.
@@supraphonic8143 Yes, I agree with you, but there is much more than your point of view. Hendrix and Page did great songs, but the point of Steve's comment is about the technique, and in this Beck was greatest (for me also... although the discusion is open and there isn't absolute)
@@supraphonic8143 jeff's work goes far beyond the yardbirds, i mean he literally became one of the definitive jazz-fusion guitarists of the 70s alongside people like john mclaughlin. More importantly, what did jimmy do after led zeppelin thats even worth mentioning? Jeff was innovating right up until his death
@@floydnut5908 Beck had a longer career but Jimmys work with Zep was far more influential and and has stood the test of time. Jimmy has written or co written many songs that have defined and created a genre of music and will continue to be hugely influential. Beck was a great guitarist. Page was that, and composer, producer and leader of one of the greatest rock bands ever. Beck was a great gutarist. period.
In a business known for jealousy and competition, Page and Beck remained the best of friends since high school until Beck's passing last year. A 60+ year friendship.
RIP Jeff Beck. Truly one the best ever. 🎸
Man what an amazing performance I don't know how Jeff Beck does it but he just touches that damn thing sounds like a freaking orchestra! So cool to see Jimmy playing with him
I've enjoyed Beck for decades. It's been a joy & thrill watching him live again with Johnny Depp. Looks like such kick butt fun & they are great together. Jeff is absolutely the king
@@bellagrace2313 yep 👍
He's one of a kind for sure.
I've always admired great guitar players my whole life. I've always known of Jeff Beck but never allowed myself to listen to more of his playing. Ikr?!! Spent the night at a friend's house several years ago, and after he called it a night, I continued to stay up and watch VH1 Classic. Jeff Beck was playing. I saw something in him that mesmerized me. The way he could make that guitar literally speak to you man. Unlike Page, Hendrix, Gilmour and Eddie Van Halen, he had not only his own unique style, but left you no choice in being a fan. Talented is not the word. This man was born to blow your mind on a guitar with such meaning. RIP JEFF BECK. What you brought to the table is nothing but legendary. ❤
You mean to tell me that you didn't know that Blow by Blow was heralded as a ground breaker? That fact was even mentioned by the mainstream media. Not by some guitar players in their bedrooms. And you didn't know this?

He always played on another level.
These two legends created or at least influenced heavy metal! Becks Bolero was written by Page and Beck in 1966. Genius.
Heavy rock. Heavy metal is a lesser form.
I’d say they’re mostly hard rock. In my opinion Tony Iommi influenced metal more than anyone
Heavy Metal was invented by Steppenwolf. Read the Born to be wild lyrics.
Actually Bolero is a classical tune written by Maurice Ravel. They just jammed around the main motif.
@@andreasoberndorfer5476 Steppenwolf may have used the term, but the bulk of their music, as well as that of Iron Butterfly, were FAR from "Metallic"!

Jeff Beck and Jimmy are unbelievable
How can you not love the Peter Gunn theme? Downright dirty👍🎸🥁ROCK ON!❤️
RIP Keith Emerson and Gregg Lake..Peter Gunn live 1979..
Yessss
"Peter Gunn" is the theme music composed by Henry Mancini in 1959.
Can I just say Vinnie Colaiuta is a tremendous drummer.
During "Immigrant Song" you can see how close JB and Page get, then you see the nodding glances JB gives to Pagey. Great to see that respect and friendship there.
Yep one of the best things about being a player 😉!!
yes these 2 phenomenoms were freinds even when they were still nobodies
Good to see them close again becuase they had fallen out for quite awhile with page remarking there was a strange professional jealousy that developed between them but luckily they patched things up .
They've been friends since they were teenagers. What are the odds of a friendship lasting that long, let alone one that brings two phenomenally talented guitarists together professionally without all the ego driven theatrics that other musicians have succumbed to?
A great collection of performances, really great. Beck at his best. Page his old buddy! And all the others...Tal Wilkenfeld!, such a great artist and person.
Jeff does not miss a beat, a note, a breath, just a incredable guitar player! Wow! We are going to miss you Jeff. R.I.P
R.I.P. Jeff Beck Thank You for all of your fabulous music over all the past years, you will me missed💔

Can I be a puppy with big floppy ears when I do it
Any time I see Jimmy Page I feel happy.
Jeff Beck played with so many great people..and everyone of them looked up to him. They knew he was the G.O.A.T.

Jeff Beck, Just Best!!! Great player of the guitar truly and going to where some others wait that will be there at the gate! RIP!
Wenn Page plays rhythm guitar, the lead player must be GOOD!!
He is... I just saw his show at the Celebrity Theater in Phoenix, October 29th.
Lmao I was thinking the exact same thing….
Almost when he is called Jeff Beck.
Jeff is one of the best but Jimmy doesn’t take a lead because his playing isn’t what it used to be. He even makes a horrible mistake on the Bolero riff at 3:32. Page stopped making music decades ago and is just resting on his laurels. Beck still puts out new albums and tours constantly.
I saw Jeff at Paris Olympia this summer and he was great, execpted at the end when J. Deep arrived on stage, playing more the pirate than guitar :) :)
In my humble opinion, this is the best band formed by Jeff Beck and the best moment of his career.
Never ever get tired of hearing Jeff Beck - he always lifts my mood. 🙏🏻💙

Rick Hibdon - As a 15 year old I was also lucky enough to Jeff Beck with the Jan Hammer Group in Feb 1977 at the Hordern Pavilion here in Sydney , Australia. As you know Jeff Beck was in his full on Jazz rock period at that stage and I didn't appreciate the performance at the time , as the 15 year old me was only interested in his Yardbirds/1960s solo work with Rod Stewart, I'm still glad I saw the show in 77 and very glad Beck recorded a live LP with Jan Hammer from that tour as it wasn't till 10/11 years later I fully appreciated his 1975-1980 Jazz rock phase, I've subsequently seen him twice over over the last 15 years here in Sydney at the Enmore theatre down the road from my place , both times with Aussie bassist Tal Wikenfield and Narada Michael Walden on drums - fantastic shows and I got Jeff's autograph . 🎸👍😎
