Hard core R&R....50000....Mother Earth is a little quieter and sadder....RIP Lid....you truly are one of Greatest. Nail it in R&R Heaven.... make the stars boogie! 🔥💥🎼🎵🎶 . .
@@mikeaustin4138 , the drummer here is Ian Wallace. That's Walfredo "Wally " Reyes Jr you're referring to, who did indeed play with Santana later, and then with Chicago. Not to be confused with Wally Ingram who also played with David.
I've yet to see or hear anyone rock as hard as Lindley does on the lap steel guitar. The Best Ever! The whole El Rayo X band is cookin! Ian wallace, incredible drummer really laying down the hammer.
Finally! 30 years after David Lindley played this fantastic version of Mercury Blues live at the German Rockpalast, Prraudliii prriisentedd by Albrecht Metzger, it is on UA-cam. Until now I only have an old cassette with this version, but never saw the video again. Still, cruising in a Mercury '49 has remained a dream... GOOD ONYA!
I remember this concert. We were sitting in Freiburg West Germany at the "Rote Punkt" and saw this concert live (on screen TV). The joint was cooking until way into the early hours of the morning. Best place and time ever. Rockpalast rocks!!
Some twenty years ago my gal wished this song to play for me on "radio 21" , while i was ... far away, guess what for? Mercury it wasn't. But it shaked those walls.
thx for the video, had`nt seen it for 30 years, but had looked after many times. big lot of fun, very nice to remenber this times, dave - a great person, slide player and musician, the music .. a real fantastic flow. Thanks a lot
@@volkerjanssen7905 , There's an old concert video of Johnny Winter in Germany where he teases the audience that they could tap their feet, you know, move around a little bit, make some noise, perhaps even dance; "it won't hurt you", he said!
Tired, bored, zombied even? IMPOSSIBLE! NO WAY! Time after time, they just lapped it up. Rock minimalism came of age that night. Glass, Cage, Riley, Reich moved over just a tiny bit. The rocket was launched, the controls were set for Mercury orbit , round and round, no end in sight. ENCORE? NO THANKS! . over and out.
RIP David. Another one of the best passed away. You will leave a void.
RIP Mr. Lindley. You were a blessing to the world.
Yes he was and god bless him
One of the most under-rated guitarists ever. His slide playing is as good as anybody's.
Absolutely!
Under-rated is a tired You Tube term. Move on. He is world famous.
Absolut!
World-class lap steel guitar player!!!
I must have missed the ratings.
RIP in steel guitar heaven Mr. Dave.😢

A hundred bands would kill for that drummer!
I think he eventually left to play with Santana. (Edit: sorry, it was the drummer who played on "Very Greasy" who left for Santana.)

Rest in Peace David. ,🙏✝️🙏

0:28 Nonplussed German Glasses Guy at right
He's just German. Getting from inhibited to giddy might take the length of an entire concert. ;-)

That dude is Guy Gadbois, at your service!
That drummer
It's Ian Wallace.
But, didn't they get tired of listening to the same song Mercury Blues all night?
