I used to think they were nice people who were mean sometimes (like when no one else was around). But now I think they are evil people who pretend to be nice sometimes.

start seeing people for who they are. not for who they could be, or for what you want them to be.

So true. The narcissist traps you in countless ways and won’t let you go even if, you can feel and tell, they hate your guts! Ultimate predators and vultures.
what i do when i come across new people, no matter acquaintance, friend, etc... i've developed unsuspecting 💩 tests to weed out people.
some ideas to watch for, but not limited to the following:
-lack of empathy
-self-absorption
-blame-shifting
-how do they treat others such as service staff
-clue in on their interests
-do their actions match their words
-how to they resolve conflict
-any signs of seeking power and control
-signs of jealousy/envy
once you can detect toxic people, it's like having a special skill that most of the population can't and won't have.
it's always better to cut off people early, than to see the good and find out too late. see what people show you.

Thanks for the tips. I'm just realizing my whole family and extended family are narcissists, and it's like waking up to find yourself trapped in hell. Everyone around me is a demon. it's unbelievable and disgusting also life shattering its taken years to get most of their claws and hooks out of me, but as these people are my own family they have some deep ones still embedded. These people are exhausting.
Once again the best 2-3 minutes you will ever spend LISTENING to a solid gold reminder of what you endured and are now sorting out. Danielle thank-you. When I think of the wasted, years, tears, money, I am gratefully stumbling across you and truly believe you have shown many souls out of the Hell we lived.

I was living in poverty, expecting a workers comp settlement when a cousin I wasn't close to (my manipulative mother was, and she's why I visited her niece) told me she and her daughter had been abused. She took me aside, isolated, and got me to agree to give her the settlement I had been expecting, so that she could purportedly escape her husband's abuse. I made one caveat: that she not tell her husband, her and her daughter's alleged abusers.
The very next morning, at the breakfast table where he also sat, she pretended that the conversation and promise had not been predicated upon her lies. I became demonized and gang stalked. I only protected my interests, and stupidly cared, until I realized I had been duped.
After my first husband died, I got a little bit of money from various sources of insurance that we had….but I had so many palms outstretched in my direction, the money did not last. Funny, those same people are GONE now that the money is too! I even had people in my workplace, practically strangers(!), begging for money from me too! They assumed I must have made millions from his death! It was horrible! Of course, I didn’t give those begging coworkers any of it!
If I ever win the lottery, I will NOT tell ANYONE! My gawd! People absolutely go bonkers when they think you have a little bit of extra cash in a lump sum! They actually behave as if they are ENTITLED TO IT! What is one of the signs of a narcissist? ENTITLEMENT!
Oh, if I won the lottery, I do plan on helping people…..but I will NOT let them know from where the money came! Or how much. That’s none of their business….they should just be thankful for anything that they get!
Getting the insurance money after my husband died, was an eye-opening experience! These people did not concern themselves with any of my and my husband’s debts, that I needed to pay off first! No. They only cared about themselves. When the shoe is on the other foot, none of them would return the favor! In fact, I got to witness that for myself.

Lots of people go willingly into a relationship, it does NOT excuse abuse.
That old uncle who died you hear stories about how mean and gruff he was...ahhhh NARC total...
or if they feel they can't trap you and this is confirmed, they will show their true colours.

Totally got it! Took me ONLY 37 years to finally move on! Did I move on to love and riches NO! But, i don't have that "nagging headache" any longer, that and a lot of cheating too!

I’m so sorry that happened to you!! I’m there too. It’s truly shocking what they’re capable of. I truly believe that these diabolical creatures will pay for what they’ve done. I know it’s so hard bc they (for now) seem to get away with everything. Be the best person you can be. Keep silent. I’m doing the same thing. It’s been really hard but it was worse being with them. They will dig their own grave. Hugs to you. ❤

Although i do think we should still remenver thet narcissists sre human beings and they are the way they are because they didnt have the option of a healthy, loving, supportive, normal, caring, secure, close emotional support network and attachments
